On Sunday, our old friend Mark Ebner began tweeting about something he’d spotted on Facebook. On Saturday night, a stand-up showcase featuring women had been scheduled to take place at Scientology’s Hollywood Celebrity Centre, and it called itself the “Los Angeles Women in Comedy Festival 2014.”
By the time Ebner began remarking on it, the event had already happened. But what struck him was the photo that the event had used since September 19 to advertise itself (see above). And here was the flier with details…
Ebner suspected that the famous comedians had no idea their images were being used to pimp a gig at Scientology’s French Villa on Franklin Avenue. So he took to Twitter…

Ha, that Ebner. And he appeared to get immediate results. Communicator I/C noticed that the same day Ebner sent out those tweets, on Sunday, the Facebook page was changed, swapping out the photos of the comedians with this group shot…
And then, even better results! Yesterday, look who responded…
@MarkEbner59 @SarahKSilverman @kathygriffin yes! It's not right

@IndieScieNews @MarkEbner59 We were ALL surprised. Letters from managers have been sent. WTH?
— Elayne Boosler (@ElayneBoosler) October 6, 2014
@MarkEbner59 I do now. And they used my http://t.co/xP6YybWESz picture! LOL.

Ah, that’s comedy gold. We’d love to know what kind of groveling the Celebrity Centre did when Elayne Boosler’s manager called. Someone let us know!
UPDATE: Oh my, look at the comment Elayne Boosler added to the original photo, which is still up on the Facebook page…
Hey, Elayne, we want to see that legal complaint when it’s ready!
And for a little more comedy, we’ll give you this glimpse of Scientology’s next generation of victims! At this sizable turnout in Clearwater, Florida, watch Scientologist and X Factor contestant Stacy Francis hand over her microphone to the son of Doug E. Fresh for some vocal stylings on that Pharrell Williams song that’s impossible to escape. Hey, kids, have you heard about the Sea Org?
