News this evening that Robin Williams was found dead in his Marin home is reverberating around the world and we’ll be dealing with the shock for some time. Early reports indicate he may have taken his own life after a long battle with depression.
Our readers began posting remembrances of him this afternoon, and we hope that continues. Tell us your favorite Robin Williams memories. Also, we can already see on social media that people are trying to use this moment to raise awareness about the debilitating effects of depression — and that it doesn’t care about fame or success.

Robin Williams: The employees being led on at the very end while the executives were selling stock like crazy was like people on the deck of the Titanic saying, ”We are fine, and we are booking passage for the way back.” Enron Hubbard, the church of profitology — aliens came to this planet with the idea of selling energy. It’s almost like, ”From the people who brought you the S&L. bailout.” It’s a similar school of investment. How do you make money from a loss? You hide it!

In 2006, Williams on Scientology silent birth…
I’m not particularly into silent birth. I think the idea of a silent birth is like a slow circumcision — not good. Or a silent conception. A little noise would be nice. And Brooke Shields gave birth down the hall — I don’t think that was a quiet one. She was in the medicated ward – she was like, “Whatever. Woo hoo!”
