Three videos the Church of Scientology would rather you not watch

FreedomCongressOur video sources came through again this Friday, and we have a collection of fun things to watch.

First up, we have another “quote video” that you normally can’t see outside of a Scientology ‘org.’ It dramatizes a segment from L. Ron Hubbard’s 1957 “Freedom Congress,” and the video’s intention is to get you to shell out for the full set of lectures, at $200.00

Here’s how Bridge Publications describes the Freedom Congress…

“While only a few months since his previous Congress, this next one just couldn’t wait. L. Ron Hubbard called it the Freedom Congress because it began on July 4th — America’s Day of Independence — and because the Congress would address freedom from human confusion. Specifically, the application of CCHs was achieving a new level of case gain. With it, a skilled auditor could process a day-old baby, a person in a coma, a total psychotic and most importantly, a person in very good shape.”

Well, we could certainly use some case gain around here. So hold onto something and press play…

At the same time that you know the words Hubbard is stringing together have no actual relationship to each other, there is something rather assertive about his 1957 cadence, isn’t there?

Once again, we asked Marc Headley to tell us what he can about the film and how it was produced…

This series is mostly about the Scientology processes that include yelling at ashtrays, walking between walls, and other random stuff that Hubbard will inevitably explain will revolutionize the future of all mankind’s eternity.

We start of with a shot of some “musicians” pretending to play their instruments while Julia Delderfield and family run around next to “overboard lake.” We jump to Celebrity Center in LA and have some fun in the basement theater there. At 0:55 we see Lane Porter doing his best to paint. Lane was in the Art Department at Golden Era Productions. OG protesters will know Lane’s dad, Jeff Porter. Jeff Porter was a Sea Org security guard in Los Angeles in the 80’s and early 90’s known as Cowboy.

Behind Lane we see Julia Munozscano, whose husband Gibran blew years ago. At 1:27 we see a painting come to life that has Matt Butler and Paco Suarez leading an unorganized flag procession. We fast forward past a bunch of shots where no one is recognizable to 2:50 where we get treated to some hardcore ashtray action. We have Mathias Gahwiler, Charles Johnson, Claude Lepage, Chris Ferris, Pat Hunter, Jennifer Champagne, Becky Hughes, Bettina Armstrong and Warren McShane’s wife, Marcy McShane.

At 3:13 we see Stephanie Martinez and Linda Stuart from the Landlord Office. Hansueli Stahli. Bettina Posten. Robert Lemoine (lost his finger in the RTC computer room, was married to Suzy Hopkins who is now ex-SO). Theresa Laner. Steve Cook. Shawn Morrison.

Then at 3:32 we see Shawn Morrison & Sidonie Liebhart before we dissolve into a bright sunset and turn into a plastic CD binder with a giant ashtray on it.

Thank you, Marc!

The great news from 1991!

Over at ESMB, Smurf dug up this gem from 1991. Watch Ray Mithoff reveal New OT 5, New OT 6, and New OT 7 to a fawning crowd at the Fort Harrison Hotel in Clearwater, Florida. After Ray’s done with the (interminable) presentation, some happy Scientologists are shown gushing about the new material. One of them is Tory Christman!

Mostly, we were struck by how the sales pitch — streamlined materials that are finally and totally on source — is the exact same way David Miscavige is selling his Golden Age of Tech II today.

Scientology’s use of private information

Karen de la Carriere’s latest video is about one of the worst allegations of abuse against the Church of Scientology — that it uses information it supposedly gathers from church members under strict confidence to blackmail them if they dare to leave or criticize the organization.
