We’re now coming to the top of Tom Cruise’s superpowers that he’s picked up with his dedication to Scientology for more than 30 years.
And looking back at the abilities and powers he’s been picking up along the way — leaving his body, levitating objects, destroying planets — is there really any surprise where this was all leading?
Throughout his lectures, L. Ron Hubbard tantalized his audiences by dropping hints that what was really going on was that far, far back in the dim past, we were not only “thetans” — immortal, disembodied beings — but that we had awesome, galactic-wide powers.
We were, in fact, gods.
But the evil trillion-year-old psychiatrists from the planet Farsec (not kidding about that) and other tricksters had created elaborate traps for us and implanted us with amnesia-causing and debilitating implants that made us forget not only our trillions of years of existence but that we had at one time commanded whole universes.
Repeatedly, in his lectures, Hubbard refers to his followers as fallen gods who have lost their powers, fallen deities who might regain those awesome abilities if they would only trust in Hubbard. Here’s a sample, from a 1954 lecture.
The Eighth Dynamic is really infinity stood upright. And it simply means infinity. Now, you can come along and say, ‘Well, you also mean the Supreme Being?’ No, we don’t particularly mean the Supreme Being. How do we know that you aren’t, collectively, the Supreme Being. See? That’s probably much more closer to truth. There are gods around of various kinds. There are some wind gods over in India; there are various savage gods of one kind or another. But if you give them a good quizzing you find out that they’re just a thetan and they behave most remarkably like you would if you hadn’t thought that you ought to lay aside all the power you had, too. — L. Do Scientologists actually absorb these hints from Hubbard? Oh yes, they do.
One of the most telling moments proving that came several years ago when journalist Bryan Seymour was given access to some of Scientology’s celebrities, who were remarkably frank with him. And in his conversation with Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson, she revealed the truth: That she was in Scientology in order to regain her status as a god….
“I believe that there is a power that I am striving for. I think the best way to describe that would be to name that ‘God,’ you know. And ideally I would have to say that I am striving to be that God.”
We know that the tabloid press and a lot of Tom Cruise fans are desperate to believe that he’s actually a level-headed guy who would leave Scientology if it weren’t for all the blackmail it has on him.
It would be pretty to think so. But the actual record of Tom’s involvement in Scientology suggests that he has completely absorbed L. Ron Hubbard’s teachings that he’s a trillion-years-old thetan, that he’s lived countless time and expects to live countless more while helping to ‘clear the planet’ and spread Scientology throughout the galaxy.
And, that his explorations as an Operating Thetan will not only help him retrieve his memories from the Whole Track of his existence, but that he’ll retrieve the awesome and frightening powers he lost along the way.
That he is, in fact, a god.
