‘Scientology’s Hogwarts’ and other schools got PPP loans

[Delphian School in Oregon]

On Tuesday we pointed out that in the release of information from the Trump administration listing which companies received small-business bailout loans under the Paycheck Protection Program to help them get through the coronavirus crisis, there were three Scientology churches, two Narconon drug rehabs, and Scientology’s most unhinged front group, Citizens Commission on Human Rights.

And it turns out that also in that list of recipients were four Scientology-affiliated school corporations, including the expensive Oregon flagship of Scientology academies, Delphian School, that has been described in media reports as “Scientology’s Hogwarts.”

Delphian, under the name Delphi Schools, Inc. in Sheridan, Oregon, received a loan of $350,000 to $1 million according to the government data.

True School, a K-12 Scientology school in Clearwater, Florida, received a loan of $150,000 to $350,000, which is a substantial subsidy for a school that reported in its 2018 tax return that its entire payroll cost it $1.2 million.

Another school that received a $150,000 to $350,000 infusion was Clearwater Academy International, a K-12 private school that was recently the target of a lawsuit by a woman going by the name Jane Doe, who claimed she had been sexually molested as a kindergartner by an employee of the school. In May, she dismissed her lawsuit after the Clearwater Police Department told her that they would be dropping their criminal investigation of her allegations.

Delphi Academy of Boston, Inc., a private elementary school that uses Scientology’s “Study Technology,” also received a loan of $150,000 to $350,000.

Previously, we pointed out that the DC and New York “Ideal Orgs” and the Belleair Mission in Florida had received loans of between $150,000 and $350,000, as did Narconon Suncoast, a Scientology drug rehab in Clearwater. Narconon Fresh Start, which operates drug rehabs in Southern California, received a loan of $350,000 to $1 million. And CCHR, which operates the “Psychiatry: An Industry of Death Museum” in Los Angeles, received a loan of $150,000 to $350,000.

So Scientology and its various front groups and schools has received at least $1.9 million to $4.8 million in the PPP program. This, for a multinational corporation worth several billion dollars.

We had sent a message to Scientology spokeswoman Karin Pouw, asking why Scientology organizations would be seeking payroll support from the government when many Scientology workers are paid less than minimum wage under the justification that they are “religious workers.” We’re still waiting for a response.

“Very few engrams start out with words, usually they start out with something like ‘splat’ or ‘clink’ or ‘tinkle’ or ‘thump.’ There’s something ahead of what you are running. People who have non-sonic don’t pick up this material too well, but it will still come through.” — L. Ron Hubbard, July 11, 1950

Overheard in the FreeZone

“Back in the mid seventies I lived in an old Scientologist-owned rooming house on Hoover Street in Los Angeles. It was chock full of disembodied thetans from top to bottom. There were some really scary beings running around that place — and some not so scary. Two not-so-scary thetans inhabited the upper corner of my room just above my door. I perceived them to be two old ladies who were perpetually terrified and clinging to each other. I was young, and just let them be for many months. One day after having gone exterior with full perception, I decided that it was high time the old ladies moved on and got back into the game. I guess I just wanted them to have a chance to get some of what I’d recently experienced in Scientology. Anyway, I fixed my attention on them and told them it was time to go. What was really interesting is that they balked about being told to leave, and actually got angry. What ensued was something of a tussle between thetans as they pushed all sorts of ridges and blackness at me. I suppose you could say that we got into a heated argument, but in the end they did finally take off. That wasn’t the first or last time I had to do that with a ‘ghost’, and I do hope they wound up in a better place.”

Random Howdy

“In Hubbard’s own words the Church of Scientology is an anti-democratic organization whose stated goal is world domination. The German government has deemed Scientology a totalitarian orientated group and has decided that Scientologists are ineligible to hold certain government jobs. I believe this is a very wise decision on their part.”
