Hanging out with Scientologists going door-to-door in ‘Volunteer Minister’ hazmat suits

 
A big thanks to the reader who sent in the video he shot this week as he came across a couple of Scientologists near the Valley Org in Los Angeles.

In recent weeks we’ve received a lot of reports from readers in places around the world about Scientologists in their pandemic cosplay outfits going door-to-door delivering copies of Scientology’s “Keep Yourself and Others Well” booklet of basic advice about the coronavirus, or offering to sanitize offices and police stations with something called “Decon 7.” It has to be one of the strangest responses to the pandemic as Scientology tries to cash in with some good publicity. So it was interesting to get this close up view.

Our videographer decided not to say a word to the Scientologists, which we think was a smart decision and made the video even more unsettling.

For months we’ve all been inundated with the information that’s in the booklet — wash your hands and keep your distance — and it’s long been obvious that Scientology thinks it can get a public relations bump by giving the impression that it’s some kind of official response to the health crisis.

It isn’t. This is just creepy Scientology, being creepy again.

 
After it becomes obvious that our correspondent isn’t going away, the two Scientologists gave up giving out booklets and headed back to the Valley Org.

“If they’re going to homes trying to recruit more people for abuse, coerced labor, destruction of families, criminal behavior and all the other destruction that goes with their ‘religion’ then they should expect to be recorded,” says our reader.

Mark Bunker fights fire with fire

On Monday we posted a copy of an official records request that Scientology’s FSO secretary Glen Stilo submitted to the city of Clearwater, complaining that it wasn’t returning every utterance new city councilman Mark Bunker was making on his various social media accounts, and even in his private emails.

The request not only appeared to be harassing, but it also sought the identities of families that were desperately reaching out to Bunker for help getting information about their loved ones who were sequestered in Scientology’s bizarre Sea Organization.

Then, on Thursday Bunker posted video from the Downtown Development Board showing that the Scientologists who make up a majority on the board were apparently trying to take advantage of the recent Black Lives Matter protests by proposing that nothing “discriminatory” be allowed to be discussed at those board meetings, and Bunker assumed it would be an attempt to shut down Bunker’s questions about Scientology’s grip on downtown.

So, yesterday Bunker decided to fight fire with fire and submitted his own records request to the Downtown Development Board, asking for any communications by board president Paris Morfopoulos and member Ray Cassano, from all of their social media accounts and private email, that might regard Scientology. Here’s what it looks like…

 
We’d certainly be interested in seeing any records this might require Morfopoulos and Cassano to turn over. We have a feeling, however, that they will object on the grounds that private discussions about their “religion” is not discoverable, even if they are public officials as members of the development board. What do you think?
