When Tarpley Hitt at the Daily Beast asked us about Scientology’s front group Citizens Commission on Human Rights, we emphasized to her that what made CCHR Scientology’s most unhinged front group was that its mission is not simply to criticize psychiatry but to destroy it.
She told us she would be visiting CCHR’s wacky location on Sunset Boulevard, the infamous Psychiatry: An Industry of Death Museum, and we urged her to ask her guides, what are you suggesting should replace psychiatry?
We all know the answer to that question. But CCHR and Scientology can be a little shy about what they’re trying to accomplish, which is to dismantle the modern mental health industry and replace it with L. Ron Hubbard’s quack ideas about the human mind.
Rarely have we seen that mission so clearly spelled out than in a glossy guide the church itself put out for members who attended a special IAS seminar in 2010. The guide was leaked to us by one of our tipsters.
This thing is a goldmine.
Titled, “Global Salvage Campaigns Seminar Guide,” it’s a pretty complete playbook for Scientology’s front groups over the last decade…
And leading it off is CCHR’s mission, which could not be more plainly spelled out:
Citizens Commission on Human Rights
Psychiatry: Global Eradication
“As a Scientologist, I pledge myself to the Code of Scientology for the good of all… 6. To help clean up and keep clean the field of mental health.” — LRH
STEP 1: Continue to saturate the planet with the truth about psychiatry through the Psychiatry: An Industry of Death Museum and traveling exhibits circling the globe.
STEP 2: Broadly enlighten with airplay of both CCHR’s public service announcements and its powerful documentaries: Psychiatry: An Industry of Death, Making a Killing, The Marketing of Madness, and now including Dead Wrong. In addition, new regional documentaries for France and the United Kingdom are added to the arsenal, with more to come for other areas.
STEP 3: Activate the broad public — creating an army of psychbusters — with wide-ranging saturation print and internet ads, mass mailings of materials and the Marketing of Madness Education Package.
AdvertisementRESULT: A world without psychiatry — free of psychiatric influence and suppression.
Sounds like a plan! And here’s how they are going to do it, with their museum, mobile displays, and lots of frightening videos and pamphlets…
What follows in the seminar booklet is chapters on their fake human rights concerns, their drug-free world nonsense, and the goofy Volunteer Ministers, which is all so boring.
But then, the final section is a hoot. It spells out how Scientology is going to take over the world.
Scientology: Global Infusion
“There is no greater game in the universe than Scientology, for it is the only game in which everybody wins. And that places it far above all other games and makes it the game of games where everybody gets the ultimate prize of self — and sound companionship as well.” — LRH
STEP 1: Continue to air the Scientology ads — new and existing — on prime time network TV in the US and around the world.
STEP 2: Launch a flanking Internet advertising campaign to drive people to Scientology.org with ads placed on high-visibility news and culture sites and Web locations frequented by publics searching for answers.
STEP 3: Drive millions to “Meet a Scientologist” on Scientology.org with Internet video ads tailored to particular interests, professions and demographics.
STEP 4: Once on the site, visitors find answers to all their questions, with 528 hours of online videos and some 98,000 pages of content — and LRonHubbard.org at the center of it all.
RESULT: LRH solutions spreading across the world at whole new orders of magnitude.
And now they have Scientology TV! This planet is going to be cleared in no time!
Oh, that’s gotta hurt. Wired magazine being used as an example of Scientology domination through Internet ads. Ouch.
And the booklet finishes up with these inspiring words from the Commodore…
Thank you, tipster! Now we have easy proof to back up the claim that Scientology has delusions of destroying the psychiatric industry and taking over the world.

HowdyCon 2019 in Los Angeles
This year’s HowdyCon is in Los Angeles. People tend to come in starting on Thursday, and that evening we will have a casual get-together at a watering hole. We have something in mind, but for now we’re not giving out information about it.
Friday night we will be having an event in a theater (like we did on Saturday night last year in Chicago). There will not be a charge to attend this event, but if you want to attend, you need to RSVP with your proprietor at tonyo94 AT gmail.
On Saturday, we are joining forces with Janis Gillham Grady, who is having a reunion in honor of the late Bill Franks. Originally, we thought this event might take place in Riverside, but instead it’s in the Los Angeles area. If you wish to attend the reunion, you will need to RSVP with Janis (janisgrady AT gmail), and there will be a small contribution she’s asking for in order to help cover her costs.
HOTEL: Janis tells us she’s worked out a deal with Hampton Inn and Suites, at 7501 North Glenoaks Blvd, Burbank, (818) 768-1106. We have a $159 nightly rate for June 19 to 22.
