TEN YEARS GONE: Shelly Miscavige, the wife Scientology’s leader wants us to forget

ShellyMiscavige10

It was late summer 2005. That much our sources agree on. It might have been late August, or it might have been early September. But it was a full ten years ago, say our eyewitness sources, that Shelly Miscavige vanished.

When we started writing about Shelly and her strange situation, back in 2012, there was some confusion about the timing of her disappearance. But since then we developed new sources who were at Int Base and personally saw the events leading up to Shelly’s sudden departure. And those sources are sure of one thing: It was ten years ago, they tell us.

Ten years ago.

We’ve told Shelly’s story numerous times, and it also got a lengthy treatment in Vanity Fair. Leah Remini caused a stir in 2013 when she tried to get the Los Angeles Police Department to look into Shelly’s whereabouts. (They visited Shelly and reported that she was not only alive but didn’t want to make a public statement.)

The thing is, we know where Shelly has been the last ten years. It’s really not a secret, and we continue to get more evidence that confirms her location. But the astounding thing about Shelly is not that she’s “missing,” because she isn’t. The remarkable thing is that Scientology leader David Miscavige has gotten away with banishing his wife, who once helped to run Scientology with him, to a small compound in the mountains above Los Angeles.

Shelly Miscavige is not missing. David Miscavige has known exactly where she’s been for the last ten years, because he put her there.

And Shelly’s story is not a simple one. We asked numerous people for their memories of Shelly this week, and they weren’t all positive. Shelly was, along with her husband, a tough-as-nails Sea Org executive who wasn’t shy about berating people to get things done. But, as we explained in the 2013 story “Love in the time of Miscavige,” there were signs, in 2005, that her relationship with her husband was unraveling. We’re going to quote a key section from that story for our readers who may not be up on the Shelly Miscavige story.

At the beginning of 2004, Miscavige had ordered dozens of top executives into a locked room, calling them “SPs.” (A “suppressive person” is someone with evil intention to Scientology — being declared an SP is the church’s form of excommunication.)

Over time, that office-prison became known as “The Hole” as up to 100 base executives were held in it day and night, sleeping on the floor and eating from buckets of soupy slop.

Miscavige was becoming less and less predictable. Every Sea Org official walked on eggshells around him, and were hypersensitive to any of his rants, looking for ways to stay in his good graces.

And then, in 2005, a surprising thing happened.

Miscavige announced that he was going to Los Angeles to work on a new set of re-edited L. Ron Hubbard books he wanted published. (They would come out in 2007 and be called “The Basics,” and every Scientologist would be pressured to purchase multiple sets, with lectures, for about $3,000 each.)

Shelly, however, said she was staying at Int Base. And she asked the young woman [an assistant to Shelly] to stay with her.

It was the first time in the young woman’s career that David and Shelly Miscavige hadn’t traveled someplace together.

The young woman did what she was told, and she stayed at the Base.

While Miscavige was gone, Shelly got to work. She filled the org chart with names, and then informed those employees that they had new jobs. [Miscavige had complained bitterly that an “org board” — a personnel chart for the base — had long gone unfinished.]

Finally, the org chart would no longer be an issue.

Miscavige also had continually groused that he was going to need to move out of his quarters in the “Villas” — three buildings on the north side of the property — so they could be renovated and turned over to CMO Int, one of upper management’s alphabet soup of entities. “I’m going to give you the Villas, you assholes,” Miscavige would taunt his top lieutenants.

So while he was gone, Shelly finally made that happen. She had COB’s things crated up and moved out of the Villas to a drab set of quarters known as the “G’s.”

At about this time, Scientology spokesman Mike Rinder arrived at Int Base after visiting Miscavige in Los Angeles. He was immediately cornered by Shelly as soon as he arrived.

“She took me to the back patio of the RTC building, which is really isolated. There was no one around,” Rinder tells us. “She asked me, ‘When you saw him, was Dave wearing his gold or platinum wedding ring?’”

Rinder says he thinks she knew it would have been too much of a giveaway to simply ask if Miscavige was wearing a ring at all, which is why she asked it that way. Rinder had no idea if Miscavige actually had more than one version of his wedding ring.

“Oh, you know, I didn’t notice,” he told her.

“The question was so out of the blue, and so bizarre,” he tells us. “I knew that she was in deep shit. She was worried that he was going to abandon her.”

Rinder wonders if, knowing that she was on thin ice, she was suddenly taking on the things Miscavige always complained needed to be done — the org chart and the renovation of the Villas — as a way of getting into his good graces. Shelly was trying to make things go right for COB.

“That was the last conversation I had with Shelly,” Rinder says. (He was not around when Miscavige returned. He was later put into The Hole as a prisoner for more than a year, and then defected from Scientology while he was in London in 2007.)

By the time Miscavige did return to the base, a couple of months after he’d gone to LA, the org chart had been filled and the Villas were gutted.

He was not pleased.

“He had a total psychotic fit,” one eyewitness tells us. “He said we were a bunch of treasonous fucks.”

A week later, Shelly Miscavige vanished.

Since we wrote that story in 2013, we talked to two new sources who were at the base at the time, who filled us in on a new detail we haven’t seen reported elsewhere. Over the course of that week between Miscavige’s meltdown and Shelly’s disappearance, something telling happened. Our new sources tell us that Miscavige went back to Los Angeles, and then Shelly, apparently knowing she was facing oblivion, took the unusual step of driving from the base to LA to see if she could patch things up with her husband. Apparently, that mission didn’t succeed. And someday, we’d love to know how that scene unfolded.

Shelly soon returned to the base, and then she vanished.

We know now, from multiple lines of evidence, that she was transferred from the International Base near Hemet to a super-secret compound near Lake Arrowhead in the mountains above Los Angeles. The compound is the headquarters for Scientology’s most secretive entity, the Church of Spiritual Technology. We’ve written extensively about CST and its underground vaults, where L. Ron Hubbard’s works are stored so they can survive a nuclear holocaust. For the past ten years — except for a couple of days in the summer of 2007 when she was let out to attend the funeral of her father, Barney Barnett — Shelly has been living and working at CST’s headquarters compound, which Scientologists call by numerous different names, depending on whom you ask: Twin Peaks, Rimforest, Rim of the World, or Crestline.

Whatever you call it, it’s a small complex that houses maybe a dozen people who work on the project to archive Hubbard’s works. Since she was transferred there, Shelly, who once was a major figure in the church and even helped select girlfriends for Tom Cruise, has attended no public church events and has not even been allowed to see her own family. Is Shelly happy working there? Is she being held against her will? Would she take the opportunity to escape if she could?

We reported in 2013 that Shelly does have some limited communication with the outside world, and was asked by a family member how she might be able to leave the base. “There’s only one way,” she responded, and former Scientology spokesman Mike Rinder told us he interpreted that to mean that only another family funeral would allow Shelly to go outside the confines of the compound.

That same year, Leah Remini made her missing-person report about Shelly to the LAPD on Monday, August 5. By Thursday afternoon, August 8, police told a reporter that they had checked on Shelly and considered Leah’s report “unfounded.” What happened? Well, LAPD Lt. Andre Dawson sent two of his detectives to meet Shelly. A missing-person report has a very narrow goal — to find out if a person is, well, missing. When Dawson’s detectives found that Shelly was fine and that she didn’t want to make a public statement, the case was over. But we asked Dawson — had his detectives questioned Shelly in the presence of other church executives?

“That’s classified,” Dawson said to us. (Since then, we’ve noticed that Lt. Dawson has been a participant in numerous Church of Scientology activities.)

And that brings us up to date on the disappearance of Shelly Miscavige. We believe that she’s still at the CST headquarters, and she may or may not be resigned to her fate. We’ve been assured by former Scientology executives that David Miscavige put her there after making her a non-person, and that he will never let her leave.

So, ten years after she vanished, we asked some of the people who knew her to send us some of their memories of her.

CLAIRE HEADLEY: It’s hard to imagine the Sea Org without Shelly Miscavige. Some people hated her. And I certainly saw just cause for that at times. Personally, I thought Shelly was quite simply in an impossible situation, as so many of us were at the Int Base. It was a twilight zone, a horrifying dog-eat-dog world where one did as one was told or faced impossible and life-destroying consequences. In the end I have Shelly to thank, in some ways, for helping me wake up. You see, Shelly explained to me on multiple occasions that when you became a member of RTC (the Religious Technology Center, run by Miscavige himself) one has then foregone the right to leave — you’d be hunted to the ends of the earth if you tried to escape. I thoroughly believed her. After all, I’d heard of Sue Gentry being brought back when she blew to Africa! Marty Rathbun blew twice and was brought back both times. No one was capable of escaping RTC’s reach, it seemed to me at the time. So when I was booted out of RTC for refusing to divorce Marc, and Marc then blew just a few months later, Shelly’s words came back to me in my final analysis. And since I was no longer in RTC, I figured I had a fighting chance of actually making it out of there. And that’s all I needed in the end, a firm dose of belief, someone on the outside to help me (Marc), and a purse to sit on in the middle of the Las Vegas bus station when they came after me. Of course there was a bit more to it than that but there you go. I hope Shelly is OK, and that perhaps one day, she too will find the strength of will to get out of there. I know that would make her father, Barney, happy. May he rest in peace.

JEFFERSON HAWKINS: Some people called her the “ice queen” and thought she was pretty cold. I occasionally saw a softer side to her. It seemed at times like she was almost embarrassed by Dave’s excesses, and she would sometimes come around afterwards and try to patch things up or smooth things over. On several occasions after Dave had raked me over the coals verbally or beaten me up physically, she would call me and try to smooth things over and mitigate the damage. She would ask me how I was doing, if I was getting any auditing and so on. She seemed genuinely concerned. I don’t think Dave knew she was doing this. Publicly, she was always 100 percent supportive of Dave. At the same time, I think she had private doubts about his increasingly erratic behavior. And I think she thought the best thing to do to support him would be to try to rein in or mitigate his behavior when she was able to do so. That may have been her downfall.

MARC HEADLEY: Shelly was at the Int Base the entire time I was there. I worked very closely with her sister Clarisse for years, so I heard many stories about them when they were on the Apollo with LRH and growing up as his messengers. I had many interactions with Shelly over the 15 years I worked at the Int Base and on most occasions it seemed she would do David Miscavige’s bidding but with her own twist. There were also times when she pleaded with us to get stuff done so that Dave would not “lose his temper” and get violent with us. There was one conversation Shelly had with me in 1994 that I would never forget. She asked me how old I was and after I answered she told me, “COB was running all of Scientology when he was that age.” It was one of the first personal conversations I had with her. What stuck me is that even when just talking personally, she referred to Dave, her husband, as “COB.” I don’t think she will ever escape his control and it is likely she will die never knowing true freedom.

MARK FISHER: I worked for Shelly for almost seven years and knew her much longer than that. Many of the people who were at the Int Base and had interactions with Shelly will tell you that she was not a very nice person to deal with. She had her moments where she tried to be nice to me and our staff, but you never knew when she might flip on you and tell Dave something which would get you or your staff in trouble. Shelly was very much a loner. She worked with Dave in his office and went with him many times on his motorbike around the base to observe and write down things he wanted done. She would then enter these “orders” into a computer log with an expected due date for these wild actions to be done. If they were not done, there was hell to pay with her. My biggest objection was about staff getting sec checked (interrogated). Reports from these private sessions were forwarded to Shelly, and she would then gladly forward the “juicy” details to Dave who could use them against that person the next time he saw them. Shelly was not well educated at all, never finishing even high school. She was, however, a true believer and she would quote L. Ron Hubbard’s writings to others all the time. Because of her position being the wife of Miscavige, she was protected for many years even before she worked directly for him. She loved being close to DM and his power and being the “Queen of Scientology.” She loved to spend money and if she could get something covered by Church money, she would gladly do it – expensive gifts to celebrities etc. All in all, she was not well liked by the staff at the base and did not have any friends, or if she did, they eventually did not last because they would get into trouble. That being said, if Shelly escaped and came out into the real world, I would give her a big hug and forgive her as I and many did Mike Rinder and Marty Rathbun.

KAREN DE LA CARRIERE: Shelly was an unhappy little girl on the Apollo. She was younger than the other Messengers and so they wouldn’t take her along to places in port. Her only role model was L. Ron Hubbard. She was often sullen and withdrawn when I saw her. Years later, at Int Base Shelly was a queen. The staff might have been paid pennies, but if Shelly needed a $5,000 evening gown, she got it. But Shelly was not unfeeling: She actually anticipated her husband’s brutality. She dutifully followed him around as part of his entourage and carried antiseptic, cottons swabs and first aid. When Mark Fisher was hit in the face by Miscavige and his nose was streaming with blood, Shelly was there within seconds to dab the blood because she was already walking around with a first aid kit. In 1985, after Shelly’s mother Flo died under unusual circumstances, I ran into Shelly during a social gathering, a barbecue, at Int Base. I told Shelly how sorry I was that her mother had died. “Good riddance to the bitch,” Shelly snarled at me. But that was Hubbard — we’re just thetans, and family relationships are an illusion. She was just doing what she’d been trained to do. And now, she’s incarcerated and I’m sure she doesn’t know her civil or constitutional rights.

TOM DEVOCHT: I guess I first met her in 1983. I liked Shelly. A lot of people didn’t. She liked my brother and took care of him, in whatever weird way you took care of someone in a cult. I have three really strange anecdotes I can tell you about Shelly. Make of them what you will. One of them happened at Building 50 — the RTC building — that was being constructed at Int Base. I was called over there, and Dave and Shelly were walking through it — Dave did that every day to watch the progress. We were in the legal department of the building and there was a vault being put in. It was where they were going to store the trademarks and copyrights and other things. Dave told Lou (his “personal communicator”) to get some coffee. After she left, it was just Shelly, Dave, and I. Dave got really agitated and said, “Shelly, where do we put the gold? Do we bury it? Do you remember where I put the gold?” It’s like he flipped out for a minute. Then he snapped out of it, and we walked on like nothing happened. But it was really eerie, a really weird thing. We then parted ways, and about a half hour later Shelly called me over. She told me that Dave was going “Type III” — Scientology jargon for someone losing their mind and going psychotic. She wasn’t kidding. Another story: I was married to Jenny Linson, and she worked with Miscavige a lot. At one point, Shelly came into my office, slamming the door. She was in a rage. “You get your bitch whore cunt wife away from my husband!” she yelled at me. “She’s in there hanging her tits in his face and I know she’s trying to seduce him!” I didn’t know what to say. We all worked so closely together all the time. Two days later, I got a call — come up to Building 50. I was walking down the hall and Shelly came walking up to me, crying. “She’s doing it again. She’s hanging her tits in his face!” and she ran past me in tears. Another weird detail: Dave tried to get me to call my wife Jenny “sir” when I was in his presence — in the Sea Org, everyone is a sir, even the women. But I refused. And one more story. Also at Building 50. The last conversation I had with Shelly. She took me into an auditing room to ask me something in private. “Listen, I need to know something from you,” she said. “Can you be salvaged?” This was after the “Hole” had started, after Marty Rathbun had left, and Dave was accusing everyone of betraying him. “Dave has no friends,” Shelly said. “Everybody’s gone. He can’t trust anyone. They’re all SPs. I just need to know, can we trust you? He needs to have friends and you’re his last friend. Can I count on you?” And I said, “No.” I was so disaffected at that point. There wasn’t a chance I wanted to be connected to him. I don’t know if she talked to Miscavige about that. She and I both left about the same time — I left Scientology, and she disappeared. I liked Shelly, I actually liked her. There was a side of her that I thought was really normal. But then she’d start spouting “Simon Bolivar” at you and talking like Hubbard. I felt she just needed someone to talk to, and that’s when we had those conversations.

We want to thank all of the people who responded to our questions. One of the questions we get the most from readers is about Shelly and her fate. Why, we’re frequently asked, can’t law enforcement rescue Shelly if we’re so confident we know where she is? Well, as these anecdotes indicate, Shelly’s situation is a complex one. She may be resigned to her fate of working to preserve the words of L. Ron Hubbard, whom she regarded so highly. But it sure would be interesting to ask her if that’s really how she wants to spend the rest of her life, cut off even from her own family — and to conduct that interview away from other members of the church. We really don’t know how she’d answer.

After ten years of banishment, is Shelly Miscavige ready to come home?

This story just gets me. Sounds like a crooked cop took charge of doing the check on Shelly. A similar thing happened when English mom came to LA to try to see her Sea Org daughter. One specific cop took charge when we went to police to do a check. The other cops said, “Oh so-and-so has to handle this.” He was a total jerk. Said the daughter had already been marched over to the station, with Sea Org members with her, and said she didn’t want to see her mom. No interview in private. Also, back when we talked to FBI agents doing the investigation on human trafficking, they said DON’T talk to LAPD or other law enforcement, as they apparently figured word would get back to the church. It would be nice if another check could be done on Shelly by a straight cop.

    • daisy

I think we all agree with that. How do we make that happen ?

      • LongtimeLurker

        State police I think.

Maybe slightly less likely to go straight to the Church.

        Slightly.

But I defer to our resident LEOs.

        • daisy

I am reusing my own joke, but it is applicable. You get the tranquilzer gun, and I will meet you at the border. Not an old joke a vintage joke.

          • LongtimeLurker

Cool. Should I wear anything special?

            • daisy

Oh you know what you should wear.

        • jazzlover

There is absolutely no way to know that for sure. Affiliation (political and otherwise) runs fairly deep. I hate to be one to “poo-poo” all of these fantastical thoughts, but I am trying to bring some modicum of reason to some of this.

          • LongtimeLurker

I guess I’m assuming (based on not much) that they’ve done a lot of their safe-pointing at the local level, like LA and Clearwater, and while I have no doubt they’ve done a lot at State level in CA at least and federally, I was thinking at a state level their safe-pointing might be spread a bit thinner.

But all that was not really based on much more than the recent people who seem to be obviously safe-pointed are often at the local level. IIRC

            • jazzlover

I hear you, but realize that anybody who knows anything about this situation has probably thought through all of these possibilities already. If it was as easy as it seems, it would have been done already. It’s quite possible that the FBI has their eye on things, but they may be waiting for the right opportunity to present itself. There is probably much more that goes into their thinking than we can possibly be aware of or even conceptualize. At this point, it may take a team of brave souls dressed in all black and equipped with infra-reds and howitzers willing to put their lives on the line to rescue Shelly. Are you volunteering? 😉

            • LongtimeLurker

No. No I’m not. …well actually you know what…if I can have 6 months solid training time and you swear the rest of the team won’t back out…maybe…

Anyway…not that I think you’re wrong at all, but from genuine interest, do we know of specific cases that involved the State Police?

And yeah, I’ve thought exactly that about the FBI myself.

            • jazzlover

I’d be the wrong person to ask about specific cases involving State Police. As a New Yorker who has witnessed some of the NYS Trooper shennanigans, I would not put a whole helluva lot of confidence in police at that level to always do the right thing. Not that I am damning them wholesale, but they sometimes have a way about them which doesn’t leave the average citizen feeling respected or protected in any great way. I know it’s part of the job, and I don’t think it’s an easy job in any way, but you would have to experience the atmosphere first hand to know exactly what I mean. I have seen speeders treated in the same way that murderers should be treated. It ain’t purty.

            • LongtimeLurker

              Ahhh, okay.

              Yeah, I hear you.

            • jazzlover

Yeah, there’s sometimes an underlying assumption that all who break a law are the same, regardless of the law they break. I have great respect for authority. Sometimes, going out of your way to show it makes very little difference. I have a quick story (not about me) that might illustrate what I’m talking about. One of my bro-in-laws was driving in a small NJ town. He was doing 30 in a 25, and got pulled over by a NJ State Trooper, who not only gave him a ticket, but also led him to a local courthouse to pay his fine on the spot. This was at 9 PM. When my bro-in-law asked the officer what would have happened if (a) the courthouse was closed for the night or (b) he didn’t have the cash on hand to pay the fine, the officer casually responded that he would have thrown him in the clink with the rest of the murderers and thieves. I know that this happens routinely in many areas of our great nation. It should not be happening at all.

            • LongtimeLurker

              Wow.

            • jazzlover

Surely Lurker, that can’t be as outraged as you’re capable of getting 😉

    • Juicer77

I agree, but this is such a grey area where several interests collide. The individual has a right to privacy and to choose who he/she associates with, but undue influence, group pressure and thought control are so insidious they often go unrecognized. Law enforcement, medical personnel and the courts often don’t have the training, time or resources to recognize someone who is being controlled, even in situations like child or domestic abuse. Such a thorny problem.

  • Scientology Is A Dead-End Road

I find the stories that Miscavige – and apparently Shelly – LOVE the “Simon Bolivar” policy “Responsibility of Leaders” so much to be rather sick, because to me that is one of the places where Hubbard reveals his true self to his followers, not as a benevolent emancipator of souls but as an amoral, Machiavellian sociopath who feels that tactics like rape and murder are quite acceptable, at least when done to support him, assuming of course that it doesn’t result in Hubbard’s hand’s getting dirty. I can really see how an uncaring abuser like Miscavige would really like that one.

Incredibly brave of Tom to tell Shelley “No” when she was begging him to be a loyal Dave-bot. I’d love to know what type of special hell his life became after that, not that he was living the high life before that, but still standing up to Shelley/Dave in that manner took some brass balls.

    • Rasha

I was thinking “insightful self-preservation”. Being considered an SP has long-range hope – spending each day in the mind games and threat of physical battery can ruin anyone’s health and only leads to more of the same.

  • nottrue

Shelley has so much dirt on DM. She may have changed her looks and ID and is travelling the world having a wonderful time. Or else she will spill the beans on DM. Using blackmail tech

    • Annie

I don’t exactly think she “let go”. She was dumped into prison camp and erased from her own life by her husband.

Prior to that, she was dumped into Scientology as a child, abandoned on the Apollo where she became Hubbard’s servant. She was deeply indoctrinated and a true believer. After a lifetime under both Hubbard’s and Miscavige’s thumbs, I don’t know if she has it in her to betray Hubbard – a father figure, or Scientology – the only life she ever knew. I’m also not sure how much power she ever really had, but I don’t think she’s got any now.

    • aegerprimo

      Nice thought.

Most of the strongest people in the Co$, from when LRH ruled to the day to COB ruling the day now…. strong people, strong personalities were punished. LRH abused his most dedicated supporters, and so does DM.

I feel sure Shelly is not traveling world incognito and in style. As Tony O points out above in this article, it is most definite that she is at this small compound in the LA mountains.

Now my question is, what kind of condition does she live in? David Miscavige has not been kind to other senior executives of the Co$, sent them to the Hole, some spend years there. Do you think Shelly is going to get kinder treatment? Do you think she could have the resources and connections to get a good life since she was “banished” by her own husband?

I gather from the people that knew her at Int Base (Hemet CA), she was a hard ass. She was not liked. I feel her life probably sucks and has sucked for at least 10 years, or from when she step foot aboard the Apollo and met L Ron Hubbard.

  • farmland

DM doesn’t give a shit about LRH, or the “religion”. Like a true psychopath, he says what is expected. He only cares about getting material things, money, houses.. I can’t wait to see the day he is in prison. I want to see how he handles the true bad asses. Little prick.

    • Juicer77

He thrives on control and power. The material stuff is a manifestation of that and his ego. It would be very satisfying to see him powerless.

    • richelieu jr

The only statement here that doesn’t apply equally to LRH is the part about not caring about LRH.

The shoops of a woman who is enslaved in her own mind since childhood to follow an insane guru aren’t funny to me anymore. Having a close friend who left after 30+ years describe how you live in, “a bubble world” without the personal strength to leave is one thing. But after knowing that you’d most likely be physically restrained, punished or god forbid killed doesn’t make these jokes funny anymore. I think Shelly meant that the only way she’d leave is in a pine box. And we know how long they cover those things up until they are all but dead and buried or on their way to the cremation furnace. Shoop away!

So much of Scientology is the stuff of farce. Alien space cooties. Silly uniforms. The blatherings of a Colonel Blimp that becomes scripture. A tiny tyrant with a silly pompadour. These are just some of the aspects of Scientology that inspire shoops and snark and what those who are inside call “J&D” (with a straight face). They can’t get the joke, even as they claim it’s all a game.

But when it comes to the families torn apart, and the people who are stalked and harassed, and the individuals who have been duped into selling themselves into a mind bending system that ultimately values them only as long as they are “able,” the laughing and joking cease. And one of the more heartbreaking stories in this latter category is Shelley Miscavige. It doesn’t really matter whether she was a cruel harridan or a willing accomplice are a hapless victim of circumstance. Her story is beyond intriguing. It compels a denouement. I hope however it turns out, it will be a satisfying one.

Exposing how ludicrous it is that Shelly is tucked away and that people like Heber haven’t been heard from in years with poignant shoops is what great cartoonist have done for decades. http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a563/OTVIIIisGrrr8/MAry.Sue.Shelly_zpsm8l2eqnb.png

Q: What is the most dangerous job in the Church of Scientology?

A: Being the wife of the leader.

Mary Sue Hubbard served prison time after which she was sent into permanent exile and disgrace. Search all you want on Scientology’s official websites and literature and in L. Ron Hubbard’s biographical details and you will find no mention of Mary Sue Hubbard.

Shelly Miscavige is in a virtual prison in permanent exile. Search all you want on Scientology’s websites and in David Miscavige’s biographical details and you will find no mention of Shelly Miscavige.

It speaks volumes about L. Ron Hubbard, David Miscavige, and the Church of Scientology that Mary Sue and Shelly have been made nonpersons, the disappeared ones. The disappearance of these two women from Scientology history is all one really needs to show that Scientology is a Cult. Only a Cult would purge these two key women who helped build the Church by making them nonpersons.

    L. Ron Hubbard’s own family was destroyed by the system he himself created. Hubbard then died alone in self-imposed exile from the law. Death found Hubbard in his Bluebird motorhome pumped full of the psychiatric tranquilizer Vistaril.

The ultimate irony of the Church of Scientology is that everyone becomes a victim of Disconnection from both self and other. The tyrants are many: Sec checks, knowledge reports, betrayals, lies, forced, labor, dirty contracts, threats, and the cruel exploitation of virtually every Scientologist by the Church.

David Miscavige used the system to imprison his own wife in exile.

I have read your comment here at least 3 times and think it is one of your BEST compare/contrast essays.

The picture of Mary Sue next to Shelly is amazing as well. You can see both women have a similar expression. I wonder what was going on in the minds of these two women, who were enablers of tyrants.

    • skiesareblue

      My God, they look alike!

    • Xique

“Nonpersons?” Ah! These two women deserve more , of what I’m not sure. I suppose just recognition as human beings who possibly believed in the goodness of the human race but who undoubtedly lost touch with reality along the way. Mary Sue suffered greatly when she lost her son Quentin from what I’ve read and so it’s apparent she loved her son, and had a heart. Shelly grew up with LRon on the ship and had little chance really to see the light. She was brainwashed as a girl, only to end up with a wicked, narcissistic husband. I am not really condoning their involvement in furthering the religion and supporting their husbands, I can’t. But god this upsets me so. Is it because I’m Shelly’s age and had been involved myself as a staff member years ago? I guess. I really despise the whole story of this cult and how it ruins people so utterly and completely. I’m at my wits end. I’m at my wits end with my husbands involvement and with myself acting like a nonperson so as not to rock the boat. It’s pathetic and nonsensical . Forget it, I’m just pissed off. I need to decide my next move, if I can just figure it out. This has hit a nerve.

  • B.B. Broeker

I still like to believe that Shelly is working on the most confidential, highest priority assignment in all of Scientology: she’s the tutor, governess, and surrogate mother to a child being raised as the reincarnation of LRH.

Admittedly, I Ihave no evidence whatsoever for this belief, but it would make sense on a number of levels – not the least of which is how DM is going to retain whales when the Ideal Orgs and GAT II have been exposed as ineffective. He’s got two trumps – OT IX and X, and the promise of new tech. Only LRH can give him the latter. So why not find a new LRH? And if the care and feeding of the new LRH gives him an excuse to exile his wife, so much the better.

    • salin

      Interesting supposition.

      • villagedianne

        And creepy.

        • salin

          Very.

    • pluvo

I don’t think that DM would tolerate a ‘new LRH’ threatening his power position. On the contrary, I believe he would like to get rid of the Hubbard admiration if he could without it being to obvious.

      DM wasn’t too sad when Hubbard had died;
“Parman says he then found David Miscavige and Pat Broeker with a couple
of church attorneys. “They were laughing and joking. It was unreal. They
saw me. I was in shock. The old man is gone, and they were laughing.”
      http://www.villagevoice.com/news/death-of-a-scientologist-why-annie-broeker-famous-in-the-church-had-to-die-in-secret-6666642

      • aegerprimo

I think you’re right that DM would not give up his position AND “admiration” and let it be usurped by a (fake) reincarnation of LRH, even though it would be easy to make the Sciloons believe someone was a reincarnation of the “Man Himself.” It is interesting to speculate… and then to speculate, would the person who was “playing” or believing himself to be LRH be able to keep up the act?

Anyway, I think DM will hold on tooth and nail to his power as COB and inflow of money from the whales and true believers until he either dies, or is convicted in courts of law as the mastermind of Co$ crimes (tax evasion, murder, human trafficking, fraud, assault and battery, etc.) or he manages to escape and live as a fugitive in Venezuela or somewhere for the remainder of his days.

        • pluvo

“I think DM will hold on tooth and nail to his power as COB”

He has to; he has to many skeletons in the closet. Also he has to uphold the appearance of being the most up-stat. The staff are downright implanted with “COB is so hard working/so up-stat”. It’s a crime in Scn to be ‘down-stat’ which entails lower conditions and punishment. Only when you were entangled in this system you can be aware of the up-stat/downstat snare and how with this people can be manipulated.

He has no other choice than to play the powerful, up-stat leader, although he is running Scientology in the ground, also with getting rid of the best staff and degrading the executives to ineffective emotional cripples. If he would be seen as down-stat, some people inside could have a closer look and and let their doubts full scope.

Maybe he is retreating with some “have to be out the range of the SPs to be able to do blahblahbla for Scientology” in the future to escape scrutiny.

      • chuckbeattyexseaorg75to03

This moment of relief that Hubbard was dead, that is a moment to discuss, for sure.

Hubbard was not well, he was mentally unbalanced, and that his orders were challenging for the top members to execute, knowing Hubbard was continuing to order things that jeopardized the IRS tax exemption, the lawyers likely were happy that Hubbard was gone, since the legal problems Hubbard caused by meddling and ordering all the time, was a block to gaining IRS tax exemption.

The personal viciousness of David Miscavige, his overarching personality downsides, on top of Hubbard’s own adament illegal mentality on top of the unbalanced mental health mentality of Hubbard that jeopardized Scientology’s very existence all the time, so Hubbard finally dying was a relief to all who were trying to run the movement.

Scientolog I believe is a massive Snipe Hunt, a totalitarian organized self running operation, a fake religion totalitarian nightmare cult so extensively laid out by Hubbard’s theory spiritual writings and levels and regulations and layers of hierarchical Sea Org bases and units, all interrelated ad nausia backed by Hubbard’s massively prolific administrative Sea Org writings, all the way up to the CST network of underground vaults with Hubbard’s “legacy of tech” writings, and probably wealth stash, if he returns (which he won’t, since NO one in human history has been legally recognized as being some other person in a past life, that is one place I’d say human law prevalis rightfully over religious belief that one individual was one OTHER individual in a past life).

THe talk that always arises about the details of how LRH might identify himself, if he returns, I do wish those who actually do have firsthand knowledge on Hubbard ever talking or writing on the exact details (if they exist) of how the Sea Org elite, like Miscavige or Broeker or Mifoff who was there two weeks before Hubbard died, if any of the last final personnel in the know, if they know if Hubbard did say how to identify him if he returns.

      • http://scicrit.wordpress.com Once_Born

I don’t think that DM would tolerate a ‘new LRH’ threatening his power position.

This reminds me of the passage in “The Brothers Karamatzov”, a novel by Dostoyevsky. In it, a character tells a story in which Christ returns – and is immediately locked up by the Church.

In a cell, the Grand Inquisitor patiently explains to him that people are too weak for the free will that he had offered, and that the discipline of the Church is far better for their souls. Now that they don’t have to think for themselves they cannot make mistakes, after all. He is no longer needed, and should not come again.

No dictator or bureaucracy likes to give up power, and Miscavige is an extreme example. If Ron did come back, he would probably end up on the room next door to Shelley.

    • chuckbeattyexseaorg75to03

      I’ll bite.

I’m an ex 27 year Sea Orger, 1975-2003, Flag OEC/FEBC Course Supervisor/training overseer, Routing Forms Pjt Researcher/Writer, etc, I’ve worked in ASI, read most of Hubbard’s final 7 years of writings, private writings.

He didn’t plan such a return. He genuinely last said, as was told to Sarge Steven Pfauth, that he (Hubbard) intended to go circle a star, which if you are privvy to the “Running Program” advices from Hubbard, “makes sense” in that circling a star, as a pure soul, doing laps around an object, large ovals or cirlces, Hubbard deemed in his “Running Program” advices, was therapeutic and rejuvenating for a pure soul’s next activities interacting with humanoid civilations.

      chuckbeatty77@aol.com

I’ll discuss the Hubbard actual spiritual views of himself frankly, although I no longer believe in ANY of those spiritual fantasy science fiction BS.

But there is no evidence in writing that would support theoretically trying that angle.

Your suggestion frankly is remniscient of past hired Scientology info merchant John Connolly’s suggestions he tried to pass on, and frankly the wildly undereducated (no shame, since Hubbard’s unique “realistic” space sci fi spiritual beliefs as Hubbard logically thought them out is a learned fantasy world) talk about Hubbard’s future if it is not based on the Hubbard writings he left, won’t be accurate.

      Your speculation is franklly inaccurate.

The final pages of Lawrence Wright’s book, soberly lays out Hubbard’s final fantasy plans.

      • Annie

I wa told by someone at the NY Org many years ago that all of “Source” was being inscribed onto gold tablets and hidden in in permeable bunkers for…something about surviving millennia and saving mankind.

(Of course that’s Latter Day plagiarism, I believe.)

        • chuckbeattyexseaorg75to03

          Yes that is consistent.

Hana Eltringham Whitfield has said somewhere that Hubbard on the “Mission Into Time” on which she was the major senior team leader, was wishing to see if he could locate treasure he’d buried in a past life.

Hubbard in earlier context had claimed he was Cecil Rhodes the rich diamond mines Rhodediann/South African, and Hubbard I heard was speculated that in 1966 when Hubbard did his several months trip to Rhodesia feeling the waters for setting up the pre Sea Org “base” there, had motives to dig up treasure he may have burried when he was Ceicl Rhodes, and Hubbard futher and importantly, in the CST logo today, inside the two interlocking circles of the CST logo are single diamonds.

When I was married to my first wife, she was Commodore’s Staff for Treasury and she held the Sea Org Reserves position “from above” for a time when it was vacant, and thus she was in control of the movement of the money, and gems were for a brief time being donated, and thus gems were accuing in “Sea Org Reserves” a slight problem since no Sea Org members were adept at which stones to keep, which to sell, etc, as investment wealth.

Hubbard was long range of the mindset, per the book “Mission Into Time” and per these stories, and per the CST logo, those are hard trail evidence of the possible further speculation of the CST site’s today’s possible site of being a location of the Hubbard stash wealth that still might be there today.

I’d say the 4 people who would actually know, or 5, would be:

          David Miscavige
          Norman Starkey
          Russ Bellin
          Tom Vorm
          David Lantz

they’d know if at any time, the LRH wealth stash was a real physical event, at the CST site.

          • Annie

Very interesting. I knew about Hubbard’s obsession with treasure and “proving himself” by rediscovering “his”. I remember now about his claim to Rhodes. Clearly he loved wealth in any form.

Your posts and information are fascinating, by the way. Thank you.

            • chuckbeattyexseaorg75to03

I hope more ex Int Base staffers and people with the firsthand experiences of all the crazy history details would add their content and memories, even if on comments.

Others who lived at CST, and if asked enough questions, could piece together all sorts of names and THOSE of the people who did all the building, digging upkeeping of the CST sites, those people will know which rooms, which sub-spaces, what is kept where, in the various CST sites, the details are just massive.

I suggest you buy Marc Headley’s book, “Blown for Good” just for the fact that Marc’s book in the book flaps, gives the Int Base buildings, labelling them all.

The on the ground details of the Hubbard/Scientology’s top Int Base headquarters includes all sorts of interesting spaces and history.

Tom DeVocht likely knows just days and days of details behind the “top” buildings there, and so does John Brousseau.

I wish the recent Int Base defected members whould go public, so that we could ask them more details of Int Base life, and things like do the CST staff come to the Int Base, and if the weekly staff briefings happen every Saturday night, like they used to.

When I was ASI staff, we at ASI in LA would drive to the Int Base on Saturdays, study in the Qual Library staff course room, all day, and then in the evening attend the Sat night “tape play” and briefing by CIB Miscavige when he was there.

I wonder what the Int Base schedule is today.

Do the ASI and CST staffs still attend those weekly Saturday night tape plays or briefings or graduation of the staffs’ course completions, since staffs at Sea Org bases used to contantly in their 12 and 1/2 hours of study time weekly, be slowly progressing through their Hubbard courses and auditing levels. When staff complete a level they “graduate” that level, and get awarded a little certificate just like the public do at the Scientology churches.

I wonder to what degree the weekly routines are kept up, today, at the Int Base.

A whole lot of automatic behavior is ingrained because of Hubbard’s “normal” conditions rules.

Hubbard did himself at times of emergencies on the Apollo ship, call for emergency conditions or worse, for some sub units, so that people lost their study priveliges, and normal routines like the weekly staff briefing would cease.

All through the “Hole” years, likely the whole Int Base schedule was dismally broken compared to past years.

There is a massive “normal” conditions set of routines that the Int Base traditionally followed, which long term members like the people who are quoted above, could tell of, and what the normal conditions and routines are, today, are good to know, to grade the movmeent’s top ranks per the Hubbard writings of what normal conditions in the Sea Org SHOULD consist of.

It is hard for me, who knows the conditions and routines of what is normal, what is emergence, what is widely horribly NOT normal—the “Hole” era is wildly horribly unlike even crazy Hubbard’s stye of running things, frankly—- so new news from the Int Base, I wish WOULD be shared! more!

Tony O wrote about that several times and recently (July 27th) that includes several Co$ magazine page pics AND a leaked photo of one of the titanium containers. The article links to earlier articles Tony O wrote about this subject. Have fun going down this rabbit hole! It’s a doozie.

A new look inside Scientology’s bomb-proof vaults, and a visit to Hubbard’s final rodeo

I recall the articles and the titanium, but did not recall that those “scriptures” and tablets were being produced in gold.

They have long been inscribed and hidden in the secure locations, but I was unaware they had access to so much gold – it’s at a high price and scarce at such quantities. I’ll go back and read more carefully, thanks for the link!

            • TonyOrtega

They might be thinking of the gold-plated laserdiscs. CST spares no expense on 1980s technology.

            • Annie

Indeed. Thanks…I went back and was looking but wasn’t coming up with a full-blown 24k Mormon-version.

            • Annie

Truly, having invested in titanium, gold would be a very dumb choice. It’s very soft.

      • Annie

I know Hubbard spoke about his future after departing Earth this life and how he did not plan to return except at some point perhaps as a politician (if I remember correctly). He stresses that he will be unknown to nearly all.

So…why the contradiction of having office dedicated to him and mansions standing empty for his imminent return/arrival?

        • pluvo

He also said he is going off to target two.

Scientology is jock full of contradictions, the contradictions are interwoven into the subject. This leads to thought-stopping and cognitive dissonance https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_

The contradictions were driving me nearly around the bend when trying to sort them out. You can’t. When still inside you are getting told that you have to clear up your MU’s (Misunderstood words), and when you have doubts you get send to ‘ethics’.

        • chuckbeattyexseaorg75to03

Hubbard answers in the late 1950s policies, that he needed to add “Hubbard” to the various bureaucratic sub parts of the then still evolving organizations of SCientology, out of contuned need to keep people on the straight and narrow path of listening to HIM!

It is clear, when you read through the OEC, read the policy, in sequence, how Hubbard himself says out of necessity, to keep people sticking with HIS version of Dianetics and Scientology, he had to add his name to everything important.

LRH’s name is then, after the late-ish 1950s more and more prevalent in the titles of org positions, the “LRH Comm Network”, the “LRH Personal Office”, “LRH” this, “LRH that” for years there, held high addional powers.

Going Sea Org, going “Commodore”, then lead to “Commodore’s Staff” it led to “Commodore’s Messengers”, the “Source policies and just the continued to this day, emphasis on Hubbard with Scientology.

Miscavige can’t insert his name into this mess.

COB he can’t even insert, since LRH never wrote a single public issue with the initials “COB”. (Only the private ASI advices had “COB ASI” in their headers, I read them when I proofread read all of them in 1993ish, and many of them had “Dave” in the “Dear Dave” line.)

Hubbard’s rules not to issue the private orders/despatches/advices to the public, always hampers Scientology and Scientology observers who themselves haven’t seen with their own eyes all these original Hubbard private writings, all the writings that INCLUDED the headers, so you read “Dave” or “KK”, or “Marty”, or the actual first names of the people that Hubbard wrote those private writings in his final years to.

The square zero that academics do, once the academics get their hands on the raw full manuscript libarary of an important writer, and as ludicrous absurd as Scientology factually is, the writings of Hubbard DO form a massive still undiscussed corpus that IS massively relevant to the discussion of the subject, as far into the weeds that this unfortunately leads, the corpus raw manuscripts OF Hubbard’s, ARE at that mother CST site where Shelly Miscavige is located, as we speak.

    • TonyOrtega

Miscavige hates children. Not going to happen.

      • Ms. B. Haven

I too like to speculate about the grand return of LRH, just like BBB. I made my fantasy prediction for 2014 on John P.’s dormant blog a while back:

It will be revealed that Shelly Miscavaige has been busy all of these years living in an undisclosed location overseeing the upbringing of a VERY precocious redheaded youngster who has a penchant for rodeo, writing, and rolling his own fags. When presented to the public, Lil’ Ron (dressed on one of those Cracker Jack sailor suits) will announce he is taking over and releasing the results of his ‘missing years’ research. DM will be showered with honors for being such an outstanding SO member, promoted to Loyal Officer (finally) and disappear forever from public view. Lil’ Ron (with Shelly at his side) will be left to his own devices to carry on the world’s greatest con and try to replenish the now empty accounts that DM has ‘retired’ with. There will be a record 2 hour standing ovation with many a hip-hip-horray. Kool-aid and cookies will be served to all those hanging around for their next “reg cycle”. Bunkerettes and Bunkeroos, will dine on the finest ceak while celebrating the end of the biggest scam in the history of the world.

Just a fantasy, but I don’t think it makes a bit of difference one way or the other whether DM likes kids or not I don’t think it makes a bit of difference whether Hubbard didn’t plan on ‘returning’ or not. The fact is, just about every scientologist thinks Hubbard will return. If there’s money to be made kids are great! At lease a lil’ Ronnie would be great.

      • Sejanus

        I heard he loves children…
with a side of coleslaw, a pickle and some mustard.

      • Tracy Schmitz

personally have never been able to imagine (not that i want to!) him doing or wanting to do the necessary physical act of how children are made for that matter!…only 1 girlfriend in his entire life and he just happens to marry her? i’m just saying……

  • Bob Crouch

A wise man said a long time ago that you can tell a tree by his fruit. This is just one of too many examples to list: Here is a “church” that claims that they are the only ones who have the “tech” to salvage a long list of the world’s ills.
Among other things, they congratulate themselves that only they have the “tech” to restore families and marriages. However, this flies in the face of all evidence. “The most dedicated scientologist” Tom Cruise, divorced THREE times. LRH, three marriages (including bigamy) with plenty of adultery. John Travolta who can’t make up his mind which way he’d prefer to go. Kirstie Alley, two divorces. Not to mention the marriages that this “church” breaks up deliberately, the unborn lives it snuffs out and the families it heartlessly destroys through disconnection. And of course, COB.
I am not saying any of this with gloating about their misfortunes. The break up of a marriage or family is a tragedy which happens all too often inside or outside of scientology. However, this should abundantly put the lie to their claims that “Source” had marriage, family and life itself figured out and that by following his dictates they did too!

I was watching a rerun of a Frasier when I spotted a young Erika Christensen circa 1998 in a small bit part as a student in the cafe. I thought it must just be an actress who looks like her but sure enough her name was in the end credits.

How did that happen? I thought sciloons are barred from doing anything that involves psychiatry and psychiatrists. The whole show was about an esteemed and intellectual psychiatrist. I assumed that was the reason Kirstie Alley was the only former Cheers cast member not to cameo in Frasier. So I’m stunned Christensen popped up.

    • TonyOrtega

Rule #1: Celebrities get to break all the rules, especially if it makes them money.

      • daisy

Wise man, 2 mvp s in one day !!!

      • Stay Puft

Thanks Tony. I’m just surprised because Alley refused to cameo when she was personally asked by Kelsey Grammer.

        • Annie

She might be more of an indoctrinated, self-riotous bitch than the others. 😉

          • jazzlover

Do you mean “riotous” as in “eager to cause huge fights”? (just teasing) Go to bed 😉

            • Sherbet

I noticed Annie’s spelling. However, not only is Alley self-righteous, she also is a self-riot, thinking everything she says via Twitter is riotous. 😀

            • Annie

              Exactly. Totally intentional of course.

      • Mockingbird

It is very accurate . Hypocrisy is Scientology, that’s why there is no irony.

I think Scientology always violates human rights is a good rule too.

      • aegerprimo

Just like Laura Prepon plays a lesbian AND an inmate on drug charges on The Orange is the New Black.

        • Todd Tomorrow

That includes acting? As long they bring home the bacon they let gays in.

          • aegerprimo

Yeah they can be owners of big pharmaceutical companies as well.

    • Annie

I agree with Tony, but I also dunno if I’d consider Frazier to be a portrayal of “an esteemed and intellectual psychiatrist”. In his own head, he was that (although a psychologist). But the running joke on the show was on him, his pompous behavior, his snobbery, his “selling-out”, his ridiculous ego that caused him humiliation after humiliation, etc. and his own failed attempts at interpersonal relationships.

      • daisy

That is why this cult is so evil , it doesn’t even play by their own rules, so how can parishoners know what to do. Laura Preppon, plays a sympathetic lesbian. She also donates a lot of money I would expect. Oh and she is a celebrity.

        • Annie

The whole “just don’t even think about it” rule is the only way that works…there are sooo many contradictions and so much cognitive dissonance so….Just. Don’t. Think.

      • Stay Puft

Pompous, yes, but you were never in doubt he was a good man, which I assume is a no-go for sciloons to see a positive portrayal of a psychiatrist. He was definitely a psychiatrist, not a psychologist.

        • jazzlover

Yes, he constantly mentioned that he graduated from medical school :)

        • Annie

Oh yeah, great show and I agree about the nature of his character. Sorry if I got the psychiatry wrong…since he was on the radio I never remembered him prescribing anything. Although he was the butt of the show quite often, I do doubt that any Scientology officials would put that much time into understanding the “psychology” of the show. Tony’s answer is obviously correct, I just was wondering aloud if the irreverence toward the good Dr. Frasier helped the case at all. Prolly not. :)

        • daisy

I would bet, now that she is known, he wouldn’t care what role she chose. Maybe himself or possibly LRH.excluded

      • Sherbet

Should I admit I never watched “Frasier,” not even once? Or “Friends.” I’m just such a rebel.

Now Cary Grant. I wish I was here when y’all were talking about him.
“Holiday” is my favorite movie with Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn. Also from a genius play that one day I would love to make. I honestly don’t know why it’s not more popular.

            • Sherbet

I LOVE “Holiday.” I think I have it on DVD. The supporting cast is stellar, too. Edward Everett Horton could do no wrong in my book.

            • beauty for ashes

Yeah!!!! This reply made my day!!!! Yes this really is an ensemble piece . And Cary gets to show off some of his vaudeville tumbling and physical comedy.
Going to look up Edward Everett Horton . I think I may need to make a notebook soon like I did for scientology when I started falling down the rabbit hole.

She was young and desperate is all I can figure. But the time Kirstie hit Cheers, she was already pretty well known and had an established career. I love Frasier. My least favorite episodes are the ones where his Cheers cohorts did cameos, btw.

bwahahahaha. That is classic :) I’ve heard variations on that my whole life. Back in high school, a bunch of us had a friend who used to constantly insult the Beatles, while regaling us with tales of how Kiss was the pinnacle of musical achievement in the free (and un-free) world. One day while riding on the subway, we were having our typically immature teenage discussions about this VERY LOUDLY. A total stranger gets up from his seat and approaches our group and utters one simple sentence to our Kiss fan friend: “Young man, if the Beatles are an inch, Kiss is a micron”. The guy then turns around and calmly walks back to his seat. We all just looked at each other and died laughing :)

As a long term reader of Ken Levine’s blogspot [one of the main writers/directors of Frasier and Cheers] I always got the impression that he didn’t like her that much… he has written many anecdotes of the Cheers cast and the only time he ever responded to a question about her he said “she was always the first person at the bar to get a round in”… there are some interesting stories about her not wanting to do a Frasier spot for the very reason you outlined here but the way I heard it is she said this BEFORE she was asked although it was highly likely she was never going to be to

  • Observingsandiego

Hi there, introducing myself with a very selfish question (for my own edification), I’ve been reading the boards for over a year now, I’ve never commented until today (the last few days have seen a few new people on the boards so perhaps it emboldened me). I love reading your exchanges (longtime lurker is also one of my favorites) but I’m sooooo confused about something that happened last week or is still happening. You guys were talking about Elle over on another board, I went there and you were posting in French (at least I think it was you), I don’t read French but for a minute I though you and her were the same person but then I recognize you from here – did she take the name Elle to specifically troll you? Haha sorry for the very drawn out question and thanks to all of you for being so interesting to read!

    • richelieu jr

Nah, ‘elle’ has been around for quite a while.. IN fact, Robert Eckert and I got into it months ago with her in a discussion where she even denied the ‘elle’ meant ‘she’ in French? (NB: I am French, FWIW)…

I find it hard to believe that ‘elle’ speaks a word, but then again, I am pretty sure ‘elle’ is collective of OSA trolls, each one allotted however any hours to go denounce us on message boards..

    • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

Bon jour. I am Elle’s doppelgänger and have been known to translate her into French (and occasionally in Affrikaans). Of late I have been translating from French to English to ask non-quotation questions or make statements. Although somewhat trollish, I’m more interested in a dialogue (and not letting her have the absolute last word). I find her “fascinating” as my favorite Vulcan might say.

I am relatively new to her life. Ben Franklin, however, seems to have her number in cyber and real life.

  • Jeb Burton

Thanks for the article Tony. I no longer care what happens to this bitch. Her and DM deserve each other. They sound like typical scions to me. Of course she was a cunt, and used her power to fuck everybody. She is why I hate Mark and Marty. They claim they are reformed, but would still be doing the same shit if they could.

Eva Braun as far as I know had no role in Hitler’s career or political life. In fact their relationship was kept secret.

            • Mockingbird

To avoid insulting the estimated tens of millions murdered in the Holocaust and additional tens of millions killed in WW II, I have to say the orders of magnitude of harm and hardship inflicted by the Nazis are so far beyond what Hubbard, Scientology and Miscavige have done that the comparison in that particular area is absurd.

In terms of similarities in doctrine and intent between Hubbard and Hitler, that is a different matter.

            • daisy

I want to hear that story sometime when its not so busy.

            • Annie

It’s pretty simple. He’s a medical assistance dog who can call 911. But really, it’s the emotional sustenance that I value most. ❤️

            • daisy

I love animal more than people ,You do not see animals forming anti-social groups like scientology. They hunt for food, but that is a whole other argument. I am glad you have him. I feel like my bunny and then my dog saved me too, not exactly the same, but emotionally. There is a lot of animal lovers in this crowd. If you have been lurking you will have no doubt noticed the daily animal posts.

            • Beth

(shamelessly taking advantage of an opportunity to put this here…..(f5) )

            • Annie

He gets me outta bed in the morning and makes me laugh during the day. I got him for companionship…the rest is a bonus. I spend a lot of time in hospital, so having him certified means he can visit. :)

I did notice. In fact, I’ve lurked almost daily for 2 years, but crawled out the other night because I was distraught over my 21 year old cat dying that evening. People were awesome. So I stayed. :)

            • Beth

losing them is so so awful. Sorry for your loss :(

            • Annie

Thank you. Yes, I’m still a bit stunned. She was here every day since I was in my teens. I haven’t slept since (I think I’m bingeing on the Bunker) although I’m also generally a very successful insomniac.

            • daisy

Did that poem help in any way ? It did me. I would like to figure a way to run it for every dog lover. I think there is a cat version. I will get it from the vet. and post it tomorrow, if they have it.

            • Annie

              Poem? I think I missed it. :(

            • daisy

I posted a poem for someone the other night who had a cat who died. I commiserated with them because I thought my mom s dog was going to die that same night. I felt bad because the dog got better. I wasn’t looking for pity. I told that person she was 15 and it was going to happen soon, but I was happy because it wasn’t that day. That wasn’t you?

            • Annie

Oh yes! Didn’t know it was you. Yes, I was very touched.

            • Annie

              How’s she doing?

            • daisy

So far so good. Eating again and peeing in the bathroom. Not on the toilet she is not that clever, on the floor.

            • Annie

What breed/breeds is she? 15 is old…especially for a bigger pup.

            • daisy

A shitz tsu. Passive-Aggressive little bitch. (old joke recycled )

            • Annie

:) I understand. But it CAN happen. They are who they are though…I’ve had some pretty bitchy cats.

            • Sherbet

              Was it “The Rainbow Bridge?”

            • daisy

I just went back and read it again, It doesn’t have a rainbow in the prose, but I don’t have the title either, so maybe. I will post it again later. I will also try to get the cat version as well.

            • Sherbet

The one I’m thinking about is definitely called The Rainbow Bridge, and it talks about all pets who have left us.

            • daisy

I will ask the vet about that one too. They probably have several. Didn’t make it there today though.

            • Douglas D. Douglas

I missed all that. So sorry you lost your sweet kitty. Our pets become family.

Also sorry you have to spend so much time in the hospital. Glad you visit with your sweet doggy while you are there. I love the therapy animals at the hospital. Cannot imagine if one of our own could come and visit.

            • Annie

Hmm…I might be able to tell you some secrets if you ever did want to do that. This last year, I spent 6 months inpatient (not all at once, thankfully…broken up into 3 months, 1 month, and just retuning from 2 months). So you see why it’s necessary. And of course they know me very very well. But before all that, I worked in a hospital and was part-time faculty for NYU Medical School, so I can work the system. :) Just about anyone can get in a doggy visit.

And yeah, the therapy dogs are awesome! Amazing programs, and there are amazing advances with medical assistance dogs in the fields of cancer, diabetes, epilepsy, and much much more. Amazing creatures.

            • Juicer77

So sorry to hear about your kitteh. We lost our 17 year old cat in February. Take comfort in the many years of love you had together. That little bounce you feel on your pillow at night means they are still with you. Hugs.

            • Annie

Oh, you’re sweet. Thanks so much. They really do become family, and such distinct characters they are.

You haven’t seen the SNL satirical play? See Tony’s story– http://tonyortega.org/2015/04/05/saturday-night-lives-genius-spoof-of-scientology-last-night-lyrics-and-images/

            • daisy

I went back to the link. I had forgotten about the details of the song. It was very very funny. I always laugh when scientology is made fun of. Did you see one of Letterman s top ten reasons for leaving — He wanted to become the new face of scientology. We cant get some U.S. shows here, so I couldn’t re-watch it again today. Do not try and tell me. Unless I am shown visually, I am incapable of learning.

        • Annie

It’s a bit hard for me to read so often about “typical Scientologists” on here as they are dismissed by various posters as worthless, evil, stupid, wasting space and oxygen, akin to Nazis, etc. Often several people say these things and more each day. And they are entitled to their hate, too. But I still have loved ones swallowed up in there, so it hurts a bit. I reserve my anger for the Organization and those in charge. Which is mostly who Jeb Burton is targeting (although I don’t think Shelly has power and Mark/Marty are another issue)…other than the “typical scions” jab.

Also, just seems dangerous to me to absolutely refuse to forgive exes and repentant former officials…too much like….

          • daisy

I think we all do or we wouldn’t be here learning about it. I happen to agree with you, but I am not a victim of scientologys crimes. I came in here, with one opinion, forgive the sinner hate the sin. After hearing of the harrowing experiences our exes had to endure, it is not my place to tell them how to feel. I believe all feelings are valid. We are lucky, we get to have feelings.

            • Annie

You have an enviably healthy attitude.

            • daisy

              I wasn’t raised by scientologists.

            • Annie

I wish that was all it took in this world!

            • daisy

            • beauty for ashes

Well said, and also you never know where someone is in terms of recovery. Anger has a healthy place in this. If you don’t get angry you turn it inward and get depressed.

Sorry, I am not following your argument. I get it, you hate her. I also get it, you hate M&M and don’t trust their motives. I even get it that all three of them have given people back in the day plenty of reasons to hate them. But you lost me on why you hate M&M BECAUSE of her?

    • pluvo

      What Bob Crouch said.
“But you lost me on why you hate M&M BECAUSE of her?”
      I didn’t understand that either.

    • worstcultever

Ah, here’s the Jeb we know and love! :)

But c’mon man, we’re talking about a cloud of toxic mindfuck poison that has imprisoned generations, right up to now. I can see your point – Marty, Mike, Debbie Cook, et al – enjoyed being bigwig abusers themselves, and would still be, if not so badly abused themselves. Fair enough speculation, I guess. I don’t know their characters and hearts and neither do you.

I’m just glad they’ve done what they’ve done to help wreck Scientology, now. And even though she doesn’t know or realize it, Shelly’s doing the same, thanks to us.

      • Annie

        Good point!

      • Douglas D. Douglas

I wonder if Tom Cruise lusted after Nicole Kidman…

        • Libertylover

I would think so, she basically lured him out and they were hanging with Kubrick for months in the UK. There is a theory that “Eyes Wide Shut” was an anti Scientology movie in a cryptic way. It’s true Stanley Kubrick’s daughter was in and had callously disconnected from her dad shortly before making the movie.

          • daisy

            I never knew that!!

            • Libertylover

Well it’s a theory and I’m a pretty skeptical person with things like that.
Kubrick was known to pepper his movies with cryptic clues and agonized over every shot. I must say it’s pretty credible though. I doubt Tom Cruise had any idea. Kubrick’s daughter was seen at a Scientology rally taking credit for being his daughter but made no reference to breaking her dad’s heart. He was training her to be a film maker but Scientology ruined that.

  • beauty for ashes

“Learned helplessness is a behaviour in which an organism forced to endure aversive, painful or otherwise unpleasant stimuli, becomes unable or unwilling to avoid subsequent encounters with those stimuli, even if they are escapable. Presumably, the organism has learned that it cannot control the situation and therefore does not take action to avoid the negative stimulus.[1] Learned helplessness theory is the view that clinical depression and related mental illnesses may result from a perceived absence of control over the outcome of a situation.[2] Organisms that have been ineffective and less sensitive in determining the consequences of their behaviour are defined as having acquired learned helplessness.[3]”

I would suggest that “Scientology: It is always worse than you think” is a better candidate.

It is both less specific (anyone in the last 8 years has NO IDEA who Shelley was anyway. It might as well be “Where’s Waldo?” for them…

However, almost everyone in the Church is unaware it has a bad reputation at all. According to everything they see and hear, Scientology is making great strides, everyone loves it, it cannot fail!

Maybe the info sinks in for some and gives them pause.

I’m doing a periodic rescan of tags on articles. I do that when I’ve added a bunch of new names and want to be sure that it checks older articles too. I’d noticed that many people (other than our proprietor) don’t bother using Miscavige’s full name at least once in a article, without anything in the middle like “David #$%%@# Miscavige”, so I added a tag on just Miscavige. If I were Shelly, 9 9/10 of those years would have been spent fantasizing about out how to annihilate that noxious little sadist, my dear husband.. And by annihilate, I don’t mean to physically harm.. I’m much more creative and subtle (and evil) than that..

In fact, I’m not Shelly, but I do spend way too much time doing exactly that..

Shelly could hire the Fantastic Four to whisk DM away to some frozen planet.

That would make an amazing book or script. I would make Shelly really buff like Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2. And also give her some Femme Nikita, with a little bit of How Stella Got Her Groove Back. Topped with some awesomesauce of Keyser Söze.
*giggles* I loooove a good revenge fantasy.

Never saw the show. The Fonda movie, bleh.

      • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

What if we really go for revenge fantasy? As David lies humbled, bawling and whimpering for mommy, he notices that there’s something not quite right about the voice. It’s accented in a way that can’t be explained away.

Looking up the knee-length black leather high-heel boots, one of which has been placed on his chest with the heel poking uncomfortably between his ribs, he watches in horror as “Shelly” pulls off a wig and unleashes waves of golden blonde hair. A hand moves to her face and an electronic mesh is removed and he knows he is totally screwed as he sees her face.

The woman he had screwed more clumsily than his wife.

        Karen.

By LRH’s left undescended testicle … she was here to exact revenge for Heber, for Alexander and for her own honor.

He thought things couldn’t get worse.

Then the door opened and there stood Shelly. His Shelly. And she was pissed.

“Don’t worry, sweetie,” Karen purred at Shelly. “The oranges are on the desk and just avoid the face. I promised that Mosey.”

Note: my apologies to Karen and/or Mosey if they object to such behaviors.

        • beauty for ashes

Loves it, small request the boots should be stilettos and possibly patent leather. I just see a very pointy silver tipped stiletto heel going into his ribs!
At a certain point, like when the FBI come in and the IRS takes away their exemption. COB should go type 3 and be admitted to a psych ward. Padded walls straight jacket and psych drugs. And then he should have some sort of epiphany that they are actually helping him see things in a way he had never seen them before, calmly and rationally. Meanwhile Shelly has been granted legal guardianship to David Miscavige!!!!!!

          • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

My only question/concern is if standing on his chest the heel would go into his rib or his scrotum. Not because Karen has big feet but because David’s so short ….

No, that is not the hard-ass Shelly those above who knew her spoke about. LISTEN… Shelly was an ENABLER and PARTICIPANT of the insanity and abuse, just like Hubbard’s wife Mary Sue (she was the head of the Guardian’s Office, now known as OSA).

One thing I find fascinating, that Shelly did have a small part of her that knew her husband was a wake of destruction of people. To quote the accounts above she was prepared for the physical destruction with a first aid kit, but had now idea how to handle mental anguish.

        KAREN DE LA CARRIERE

She actually anticipated her husband’s brutality. She dutifully followed him around as part of his entourage and carried antiseptic, cottons swabs and first aid. When Mark Fisher was hit in the face by Miscavige and his nose was streaming with blood, Shelly was there within seconds to dab the blood because she was already walking around with a first aid kit.

        JEFFERSON HAWKINGS

On several occasions after Dave had raked me over the coals verbally or beaten me up physically, she would call me and try to smooth things over and mitigate the damage. She would ask me how I was doing, if I was getting any auditing and so on. She seemed genuinely concerned.

I think there might be an assumed change in personality but point well taken.

          • aegerprimo

Not sure what you mean by “assumed change in personality”.

            • beauty for ashes

Like in this scenario, Shelly had seen the light, the error of her ways and wanted to get revenge. It was a fantasy. I’m sure the reality is much different.
I’m sorry if this upsetting to you AG. Seriously. I do understand. Perhaps I was being a bit naïve.

            • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

Like whatever her personality was like before being exiled has changed (ie, from bitch to lady). Although she most likely lives better than the Hole, the thought that she could be in the Hole 2.0 and thus transform into someone we could identify with and feel a measure of sympathy for is easier than accepting that she could be disappeared without feeling upset or changed somehow.

            • aegerprimo

Shelly joined the Sea Org when she was a child. Karen’s account above…

KAREN DE LA CARRIERE: Shelly was an unhappy little girl on the Apollo. She was younger than the other Messengers and so they wouldn’t take her along to places in port. Her only role model was L. Ron Hubbard. She was often sullen and withdrawn when I saw her.

She was influenced by Hubbard himself and the environment LRH imposed on others when she was barely a teenager influenced her. Her parents were clams.

Shelly had entered the church via Sea Org at just 12 years old. Sea Org began as a branch of the controversial religion more or less meant to take care of Hubbard as he lived his life aboard his Apollo boat in international waters. Shelly’s parents essentially let the church raise her, a Vanity Fair profile alleged, and she soon found herself signing a billion year contract and devoting her life to Scientology.

              http://www.bustle.com/articles/72106-where-is-shelly-miscavige-wife-of-scientology-leader-david-miscavige-she-hasnt-been-seen-in-7

IMHO…. Shelly was NOT a super hero or a tough woman. She became a hard-ass beeyach because $cientology made her this way and it was survival for her. She was obviously clever enough to become the “queen” for a short-lived while.

In many ways I feel for her. In a non-cult life, a hard-as-nails personality like hers could achieve greatness, and be an inspiration for women…. or maybe her path could’ve been the ruling bitch in a female prison. Who knows?

Nonetheless, she is NOT a superhero.

Given the relative ignorance of MHO, I completely yield to your HO.

For a rare change, I am being sincere.

      • aegerprimo

Shelly was NOT a super hero. I think she was more like a bad-ass bitch in a prison who intimidated everyone to get her way.

    • aegerprimo

Shelly lives in a “prison of belief”. She would remain banished by her own husband, and live in (possible) terrible living conditions because she feels if she escaped she would risk her eternity as an immortal being.
      ETA for grammar.

You talking about Rat Pack? If so, no.

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

              No, like real mobsters.

Ah, they’re just a figment of your imagination 😉

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

No they’re not! I don’t care if there’s some secretive blood ritual or that it took around a century for law enforcement to finally get someone “inside” the mob, the mob did/does exist!

            • jazzlover

Did you see my little “;)” at the end of that sentence? It’s a “wink”. I was kidding.

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

Yeah well now the only response I can give is that I’m going to go stand facing the corner for a time out. 😉

            • jazzlover

Don’t do that. It’s easy to misinterpret written word. No problem. I was just kind of quoting an oft-used saying about the mob here in NY. Sort of like a “don’t ask, don’t tell” thing. Everybody here knew they existed (how could we not?). But no one ever spoke about it, publicly that is :)

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

This isn’t me replying because I’m over in the corner right now in a self-imposed time out. 😉

At this point, there’s no way to deny that the “Cat is out of the bag” on the mob, and that at least in terms of U.S. members their biggest information leaks came from the members themselves. The documentaries at least give them a legitimate source of income – or to their family if something they say really pisses someone higher on the food chain off. 😛 But every time there’s a 50’s-esque guy in a suit and on the phone I think of the mobsters from that era, there’s a scene in a movie and also a tv show that was abruptly cancelled….

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

            • Annie

I grew up in a part of the Bronx with sooo much mob presence. Beyond being able to pretend you didn’t know. Ironically, it was also a neighborhood that housed a lotta cops.

Keeps their kids and wife from getting ideas! 😉

            • jazzlover

I’m from Queens, where the Gotti’s reigned. Brooklyn and Manhattan were also huge enclaves. Come to think of it, throw in Staten Island too. By golly, it’s a clean sweep :) I’m Italian. I happen to share a surname with one of the lesser known Brooklyn “families”. Literally everybody used to ask if I was related. My answer depended on whether or not I liked you 😉

            • Annie

Yeah…dunno when you grew up, but for me it was late 70s, early 80s. Very significant presence. The little spot I grew up on is called City Island (most NYers haven’t heard of it)…a marine community on a one-mile long Island in Long Ialand Sound off the coast of Pelham Bay Park. Cops lived there, wise guys owned all the red sauce seafood joints.

            • jazzlover

I know City Island. I grew up in the mid to late 70s in Astoria — home of Steinway Piano Factory and land of the Greeks :) Saw you mention your dad yesterday. Which college did he run a physics dept for, if you don’t mind saying so?

            • Annie

He was a prof for decades at Columbia, then chair at City College of NY. He still lives on City island. My mother grew up in Rego Park after moving there from London, Ontario…my mother’s family were Canadian Jews…some of whom are now Scientologists. A few still live in the Crescents of Rego Park.

            • jazzlover

I was at Columbia from 79-83. Graduated with Obama. My sis went to CCNY from 72-76. I spent a lot of time in Rego Park and other southern Queens neighborhoods. It’s a small world.

            • Annie

It is indeed. My mom was an English professor at Hunter and Columbia before she retired to raise me and my sister. Growing up on City Island was good fun. Instilled a life-long love of marine biology. It’s a cool place, even with all the mobsters and overpriced, mediocre restaurants and INSANE summer traffic.

            • jazzlover

Well, growing up in what was essentially Long Island West, I understand the traffic part :) So, you grew up in an academic family. Did you rebel under the stress of expectation, or do you have doctorates in 8 or 9 things? 😉

Oh, so sorry, Annie! Obviously, you know you better than anyone else, so I’m not about to tell you what to do. What I’ll do, though, is gently ask if you’d consider something like Zquil or (dare I say it) a sleeping pill?

            • Annie

It’s complicated. I take a lot of meds already and I find that sleeping pills make me wonky, but not necessarily sleepy. I’m a pretty classic case of medical insomnia (a lot of it caused by acute and chronic illness, and the trappings of it…like the machines). If it was just a little short-term bout, meds might help. Losing my kitty didn’t help, but I can’t say this wouldn’t have happenedIt’s even worse in the hospital, where they come in and check on you every 2 hours. There, and sometimes at home, I go without sleep for more than a week until I am nodding off mid-sentence uncontrollably, and not making much sense/talking out of my encroaching dreams.

Anyway, don’t worry and no apologies…again, it just is what it is. I’m not complaining…really. :)

            • jazzlover

Ok, I’m sure you have it under control. One of the best things to know in life is oneself :) It sounds like you do, when so many others don’t. Hang in there!

My dad was a bit before your time…he was there during the 60’s when the student “occupied” the campus to protest the war (and have a lot of sex and smoke a lot of weed). He was one of the younger faculty and he stayed on in support. Very different there now….

            • jazzlover

Did he know Mark Rudd? Thankfully, I wasn’t there back then. I had a chem teacher at Stuy High who was number 2 in his class at Columbia during that time, and on his way to becoming a medical doctor…..until he got booted out for his involvement in that mess.

            • Annie

Hmm…I dunno. Can ask but his memory isn’t fantastic for people. Typical absentminded professor.

            • jazzlover

Rudd was sort of the leader who went into hiding for like 30 or more years after that in order to avoid arrest. He only resurfaced within the last 10-15 years. Trust me, if you mention Rudd to your dad, he will know who that is:

  • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

It takes a lot of things – time, strength, self-awareness, places of honest-to-goodness safety, money (if your home and bank accounts are shared…) and more to get oneself out of an abusive relationship. These things I know from first-hand experience. I was lucky my family had not been driven away successfully (though he tried) and I still had a handful of friends who may have stepped back but refused to give up entirely, but not everyone is so lucky.

Given all that I’ve learned about the situation, Shelly is not one of the lucky ones.

I have to wonder if it’s the other way around: Shelley is out at Twin Peaks because *she* wants to be. Maybe she left Dave and that’s what they worked out.

Highly unlikely, but given that the cult is all she knows since being a little kid on the Apollo, it’s a strange possibility.

    • Annie

Sadly, no. All the negative “Where’s Shelly?” press and rampant speculation in the media of foul play… including murder…makes me feel confident that Miscavige would be spinning it differently if it was actually much less dramatic.

    • BosonStark

I can see why she might want to leave Dave, but it seems like if her location of exile were a mutual decision, she would have picked a place where she would have had a little more power or authority, having been a Commodore’s Messenger as a child. I see the changes she made to the Org board as possibly being her way of wanting out though — that she would knew he would send her away after she did that.

And it’s possible that she doesn’t mind where she is now, because at least she doesn’t need to put up with the daily drama around COB. However, she must feel deleted, not being able to attend events, hobnob with celebrities and the like. Who knows, maybe not doing that is a relief too.

It’s not that they can’t, but that they don’t *have* to.

        • daisy

I am pretty sure no, They wouldn’t be able to charge him with abuse unless they had credible objective proof such as bruises, eye witness testimony etc. You still can not charge for emotional, mental abuse. It would go to pattern of behavior if a crime was commited, Steve Hassan posted today, He suggested ways in which Shelley should be questioned. Unfortunately, we still do not have a way of making that happen.

          • http://umbraxenu.no-ip.biz/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page RMycroft

I wasn’t thinking so much about physical abuse against Shelly as Miscavige’s possible criminal actions as head of Scientology Incorporated.

  • Frodis73

Am I the only one wondering if DM ever hit Shelly? We haven’t heard any stories that he did, but I wouldn’t put it past him.
This story is just so disturbing to me on so many levels. Not much I can say that hasn’t already been said at this point. I do wish this would have been included in ‘Going Clear’. I really wish more people knew about it because it just seems impossible that a semi high profile person can just vanish his wife in 2015.

    • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

He’s resorted to physical violence with people in positions over which he held authority, right? I’m willing to bet that he *has* done the same to his wife, and has any possible witnesses too scared to say anything or did it where others could *hear* but not *see*.

    • outraged

It is his modus operandi. Of course he’s struck Shelly. More than once. Miscavige is abusive, emotionally, physically and spiritually to all of those around him. Such a wonderful ‘religious’ leader, huh?

      • anonsparrow

Of course he’s struck Shelly? I wouldn’t go that far. I’ve never heard a report of DM striking any woman. The worst I can recall is having some other female SO person almost (if not) breaking Debbie Cook’s finger. Even that was done indirectly.

I think most of the exes that are out now have seen enough and would say as much if there was such an instance. And for whatever reason, Miscavige apparently is able to keep his physical outbursts contained to males.

        • Observer

IIRC the PC he hit at St Hill was a woman.

          • anonsparrow

Holy crap! I know about that PC hitting incident but never heard it was a female (or male). I always heard the word “punch” though. That would make it so much worse.

          • Frodis73

Wow. Ok, there we have it!!!

        • Tracy Schmitz

wonder has he or would he hit TC? i mean TC worships him like a GOD supposedly.. is mr. huge famous powerful movie star that brainwashed and pathetic he would actually not only take it but think he deserved it, you know from his best friend, whose also his religious leader and GOD.. can you imagine if this is the case? i wonder if TC actually on his own or told to, salutes miscavige everytime they meet?!

    • Annie

It was briefly covered by Vanity Fair. The consensus was that no one admitted to ever seeing him do so, but exes agreed she would then have been just about the only person he never raised a hand to. Emotional and verbal abuse is documented.

      • Frodis73

It’s been awhile since I read the VF story and had forgotten that. To me it would be strange if he *didn’t* hit her! Though, afaik, he didn’t get violent (physically) with any of the women in the SO…right? Or am I not remembering that right either.
I don’t know why I am wasting my time with him. Trying to understand that crazy man is like trying to understand life, the universe and everything. :-)

        • anonsparrow

        • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

Depends on how you define what happened to Debbie Cook. I don’t think he personally dumped cold water on her but he directed (if I remember correctly) to do so. Abuse by proxy is still abuse.

          • Frodis73

Absolutely. I do find it odd though (if true-and anonsparrow makes a great point about it) if he only has gotten physical with the men.

            • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

I wish I had continued my psych studies to understand what Sigmund would think of a man who only gets physical with men and has women handle women.

There’s got to be something there.

            • anonsparrow

Marc Headley said that DM would bring up male prison rape in the middle of an important meeting at Gold Base – just out of the blue. That must be another element..lol.

            • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

I wonder what other shortcomings he is compensating for?

We know the length of his inseam.

              How about shoe size?

            • Annie

Nah, too easy. There is a deep, twisted river of rage and hate in that man…an absolute NEED to put others down and GRIND THEM DOWN, not content with inflicting verbal barbs, he wants to cause real DAMAGE.

            • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

Of course I went easy. He’s deep, twisted and horrible. Not complicated. 😉

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

              I’m 61″/ 5’1″ and I’d bet my inseam is longer. 28″

            • Baby

              INVERTED

            • Annie

If you’ve ever read the body of his text messages to employees, the language is truly shocking. And I’m not easily shocked at all. He clearly is deranged, absolutely drenched in hatred and unable to speak without his arsenal of filth.

          • anonsparrow

All I’m saying is that I’ve heard of him hitting or punching a woman (except for what Observer just said below). He put his hands around Debbie Cook’s throat iirc. I’m certainly not trying to excuse any of his psychotic behavior.

          • MaxSpaceman

In Wright’s book, it was heavily implied that he had his family terrified when he was a boy, that his sisters were targets for his uncontrollable striking out and hitting people; that the reason they fled to England was as much for his violence as it was for a Scientology cure for his asthma.

            • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

Was his birth name David or Damien?

            • MaxSpaceman

              Cute:)

However there’s “The Bad Seed” — a very scary portrait of children like him.

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

My uterus has boarded itself up now. Thanks.

            • Annie

Now you’re fit to join the Sea Org!

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

I’d need to be caught off guard and dragged out of my house in the middle of the night – just don’t bother with handcuffs because I can dislocate my thumbs at will – before I’d spend time in the same room as active SO’s, much less join them.

            • Annie

              That could probably be arranged.

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

It better not be. Because, reasons. And guns. oh and lawyer.

            • Observer
            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

“went home with a waitress….she’s with the Russians too.” lol

I’d only need access to a law library that includes all local law resources, some guns, and money. 😉

            • daisy

Tying it to the conversation above Warren s wife wrote a book about him. She claimed he was abusive, but she stayed close with him because she loved him. The man had talent

            • Annie

Oh, fine. Okay. I’ll call it off. :)

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

It’s hard to catch me off guard anyway, I’m a light sleeper and my dog is thankfully not one to accept any food bribes or tolerate the presence of strangers without barking madly. She may be too small to stop an intruder herself but she makes damn sure I’ll know about their arrival in time to ready my firearm.

        • Annie

No, I think he’s been known to physically assault women. And Shelly was “his” and worked so closely that she was always in the line of fire and catching the brunt of a lot of anger. Personally, I suspect he has, but regardless being in such proximity AND married must have been a living nightmare.

        • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

          42.

          • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

What do you get when you multiply six by nine?

            • Rasha

              …out-evolved by a telephone sanitizer again….

            • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

Damn … you’ve pierced my real world identity.

Now I have to decide what I do next. Maybe get a focus group together to see if people are interested in fire delivered nasally.

          • Frodis73

            I couldn’t resist.

      • Tracy Schmitz

i wonder has he or would he hit TC? i mean TC worships him like a GOD supposedly.. is mr. huge famous powerful movie star that brainwashed and pathetic he would actually not only take it but think he deserved it, you know from his best friend, whose also his religious leader and GOD.. can you imagine if this is the case? i wonder if TC actually on his own or told to, salutes miscavige everytime they meet?!

  • Baby

O/T just came on.. Life is getting in the way.. This just happened.. and You should have heard me scream ( F5) and I marched my 5 on the bed and no one confessed. All points lead to Lulu .. errrrrrgh.. But she is an older dog
    (13) so .. she’s got my heart..

    ( Off to read)

    • Sherbet

Funny. Icky, but funny. Gotta love them.

      • Baby

I have no choice in the matter Sherbie.. They are my greatest joys..( other than family, friends..oh I forgot my husband..bawwwwwwwhahaha)

        • Sherbet

Of course! They give so much love and affection.

          • Baby

and as you know.. require so little from me..

    • Annie

I envy the cleanliness of your floor.

      If not your pillows.

      • Baby

Why thank you Annie.. The smartest thing we ever did was getting hard wood floors.. Ripped up all the carpet..

In Florida carpet gets so gummy because of the humidity.. When we bought the house it was so yucky.. Got it as a Foreclosure and brought some life into it..xo

    • Frodis73

Life with animals is a non stop laugh/cry fest. They are adorable.

      • Baby

Teddy is the shocked one.. He is a Shi zu.. and a Mama’s boy..CoCo is the black and white one with Izzy accusing Lulu.. They are always picking on her..

Lu Lu is always..and I mean always grumpy..cause of her age and the 2 are always getting on her last nerve..

Bella in the corner? She’s daddy’s baby.. ugh.. I mean sickeningly so.. ( ha) She doesn’t really do that much with any of us..other than hubby.. She sits by the porch when he goes away and just pouts..

    • daisy

LOL You and Sherbet make me pee my pants. STOP IT!!

      • Baby

The Black and white one would NOT let Texas ( when she visited) alone.. she just kept licking her feeet.. She never did that before.. hahahhahahaha..

        • Sherbet

I had a cat (who died at just under 24 years old), who used to stick her whole head in my husband’s work shoes as soon as he took them off at night. He was a machinist, and the shoes smelled of grease and oil as well as natural foot funk. The cat went into raptures over them. Crazy, nutty cat.

          • MaxSpaceman

            23 yrs old nearly 24. Fantastic :)

            • Sherbet

Yup. She was a real senior citizen. Toward the end she was deaf and sort of creaky, but we couldn’t put her down until she was ready. She didn’t seem to be in any pain. Then one day, bang, a stroke, and we let her go. Sad. We cried for days.

            • Baby

Days.. I thought my heart stopped beating when we put my little Yorkie down. She fell off the bed backwards and broke her back on the wooden rail. I have never heard that sound coming out of my mouth before or after.

It was just such a primitive wale.

            • Frodis73

Omg, how horrible…there are no words. Just hugs.

            • Baby

Thanks Doggie.. sigh.. To all those who have lost pets they need lots of hugs..

            • daisy

              (((((hugs)))))

            • Baby

              thanks sweet daisy dukes

            • MaxSpaceman

I know that sound. When my kitteh Isadora Duncan passed on, I wailed with a sound I’d never head, either. After a few of those, I had to ‘order’ myself to not think of Isadora, so as not to slip into that ‘place’. It’s an awful place of loss of deep love (which is so hard to replace).

            • Baby

Yes.. OMG.. yes Max.. sigh.. OK.. now I gotta think happy thoughts..

            • Juicer77

And now you have Chico the magnificent <3

          • Baby

Awwwwww… I know you miss her.. That is the only drawback with having pets.. I look at Lulu who is declining and I know it won’t be much longer..

24 for a cat.. Wow..amazing Sherb.. I know she was loved and vice versa.. ((HUGS))

        • Vaquera

          CoCo has a fetish.

        • daisy

I had a boy friend who did that, not nearly as cute

          • Baby

hahahhaha.. I wish I could find a guy with a foot fetish daisy..NOT to lick.. but ONLY massage..hahahha

    • Sherbet

Just don’t do it on Baby’s pillow.

      • Baby

Thank God I wasn’t sleeping on it! I never let them in our bedroom when I’m awake.. and the door was open and .. I’m sure Lulu snuck in.. Is she trying to tell me something? hahahahhaa

        • Sherbet

It’s like a little forensics mystery right there in the bedroom. Dog panties for everyone until someone confesses.

          • Baby

OMG.. I’ve got them too! hahhaa.. Teddy my only male has a Weinie Wrap.. When hubby’s sons come to fish he wants to mark his territory ( He’s been fixed..) It’s the only time it happens..

            • Sherbet

You should write a book. Here’s your title: “Puppy Panties and Weinie Wraps — Furry Love in Baby’s House”

            • Baby

This is when I got Teddy.. I shouldn’t have put him on the bed before going potty.. (f5) https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/c8d628c263752aa7b298b4af49370f313a103f72db0b0accc158b3b13d7758a5.jpg

              Laughing my head off.

            • Baby

I had a lot of fun with that mask.. ( Wink Wink)

            • Jenny Daniels

Just so you don’t feel lonely, my 6 month old grandpuppy pooped in my lingerie which was in a bag waiting to be put away…I LOVE him, but yuck!

            • Baby

OH yes.. That would be a big YUCK..hahah

    • Baby

One thing that I want to brag about.. I do all their grooming.. all 5 get brushed daily and I cut when necessary..bathe and do their nails.. Well, cut their nails. I feel like I am a Dog Groomer..

and you should see them all scatter when I am in the DOG ZONE..

      • Annie

Wow…can I bring you my Scottish Rough collie?

        • Baby

Oh Absolutely.. I absolutely love them Annie.. We have to have small dogs on the island..because they don’t go for walks because of the fire ants, jiggers, fleas ( like you have never seen..)

Mosquitoes..and wild live that roams.. and the heat. Our little ones scamper outside in a closed in area…and at night they use pee pads in the laundry room.. But I adore larger dogs.. Love Scottish Rough.. LOVE them.

          • MaxSpaceman

            island paradise :)

            • Baby

Yes Max.( sigh) .ooooooh lovin your avi.. that is my favorite so far..Lovin the colors.

If we had the $ we would be snowbirds.. cause this tropical island ( the only one in Fl) is freakin hot. heat index at 115 F is too damn hot. I sweat in the shower..and I know it’s hard to believe, but I can get quite bitchy.

            • MaxSpaceman

I would be dead trying to make it thru 1 year of living there.

115F heat index and I’d be dropping the ol’ meat body against its will. :-/

            • Baby

I know.. OMG.. I’m like JUST SHOOT ME.. I have low tolerance for heat.. can’t deal with it at all.. but run to the beach during ” The Season..” Then I’m trapped inside during summer.

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

If your idea of paradise involves fire ants, jiggers, fleas and mosquitoes, stay *out* of my idea of paradise!

            • Baby

hahahhahaha.. Absolutely Pantalones.. One thing though.. Oct..Nov..-March.. Absolutely Heaven.. OMG..

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

I’m itchy thinking about the April-September times.

            • Baby

Me too! And that is why I stay inside Pantalones..

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

There are mosquitoes here due to the landscaping on the property being almost entirely water-scaped ponds and streams. No lawns, just water, shrubs and trees. I hate mosquitoes but they leave me mostly alone due to the fact that I smoke. Other people have blood that mosquitoes find delicioso and have no interest in my pants.

            • Baby

We have a Helicopter that sprays for Mosquitoes frequently and does reduce.. but hate them.. They don’t bother me as much as others.. but errrrrrgh.. Hate them.

            • Jenny Daniels

Mercifully, mosquitoes hate me, however if I am remembering correctly a vitamin B1 per day makes your much less attractive to those bloodsuckers…I wonder if it would work on regges?

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

              Worth a try?

          • Annie

            Yay! You’re awesome!

This is my boy, Sylvan…being all silly in the snow last winter. I posted a close-up of his fuzzy sleepy head a couple hours ago, too. I just adore him.

            They come with alotta fur!

              Beautiful, Annie.

            • Annie

Thank you! (He does kinda know it).

            • Baby

Absolutely Stunning.. Just a beautiful..beautiful member of the Bunker family Annie.. All of us are pet lovers.. Amazing..

            • Baby

How much does he weigh Annie? I think he’s bigger than all of mine combined.. Let’s see total of mine is maybe 35 pds.

            • Annie

Sorry, missed your message! He’s a little over sixty pounds…and STRONG. I weigh about twice what he does, but he can pull me over…I get pretty nervous in the winter with him on-leash. When he stands, he can lick my face.

            • Baby

              Awww big doggy..

            • Frodis73

Such a pretty pup…I would love to brush her coat. Not daily or anything, but I haven’t had a dog with long/real fur in awhile…I miss long sessions like I used to have with my Samoyed. Your dog just looks so happy flying around in the snow, hair blowing back…I want to kiss her snout.

            • Annie

Thanks! Collies have such awesome (and kissable) snouts. Samoyeds are gorgeous!

            • Juicer77

              Just gorgeous :)

            • Annie

              Thank you! He’s a sweetheart.

I knew I adored you, Baby!
I am the mom of 3 tiny dogs and the grammy of 2 other small dogs who I baby sit every day while their mom and dad are at school and working…I love them all!

            • Baby

Awwww.. How fun.. The more the merrier.. I promised my hubby I would stop at 2…( ha)

      • Frodis73

Lol about dog zone-they *always* know when we want to do something like that to them.

        • Baby

I get this look in my eyes..hahaha.. My hubby can hold them for hours and I’m with them 5 seconds and find a mat that needs cut. ( I’m like can’t you do it while Bella sits on your lap?)

and he said.. ” How can I do that and watch Tv? ” Duh?

          • Frodis73

That is such a typical guy kind of reply…lol.

      • April

You’re such a badass, Baby. And I bet you do it all without even removing the cigarette from your mouth. 😉

        • Baby

April.. oh yes..Hookah always.. ALWAYS.. hahhaa.. My dogs smell like A Waffle Cone..ha

      • Juicer77

Beautiful job! That’s a lot of work!

        • Baby

Thanks Juice.. It really is.. I am like a mama monkey.. I can’t pick them up without finding something to do with them…

No wonder they stay in the LR with my hubby..

    • Vaquera

      Coco!

      • Baby

There is your girl.. she was looking for you for a week Texas! hahah.. she kept wanting to go on your bed! ..

        • Vaquera

My hosts for this long holiday weekend have a King Charles Spaniel ….that kept licking my toes! What the hell? Is it me??

          • Sherbet

Could it be the peanut butter foot lotion you’ve been using?

            • Vaquera

              Yes. No jelly.

          • Baby

Bawwwwwhahahha.. Now that is funny Texas.. ( not to you of course, but ALL of us)

          • L. Wrong Hubturd

The real question is : Did you “friend” last week try to lick your toes? Bwahaha. I’ll see myself out.

            • Vaquera

To borrow a line from Paulette, “If was a 22 year old man….”

    • vicariousthrill

Aww…hope no one is sick. That’s the only time mine ever did that. It’s weird how they all seem to use the same method of communicating distress. They’re so lucky you’re in charge, and not someone unkind.

      • Baby

Oh you are sweet.. No thrill.. she sometimes hops on the bed, but can’t get off..and I think she was stuck up there for awhile. When I went in to the room.. all 5 of them were on the bed playing..

I really am not a screamer.. They just knew when I didn’t flop on the bed with them like I usually do and play with them.. that I wasn’t happy..

but when I figured it was the oldest one.. I just picked her up and said.. ” It’s OK..”

    • Jenny Daniels

“Are all of these adorable babies yours?”asked Jenny purring.
If it is Lulu, your vet can prescribe some drops which worked brilliantly. When an older doggy of mine developed sleep incontinence it worked so well that I was able to take all that sweat-inducing flannel covered sheeting off the bed. The doggy lived out a nice long life (17+ years) without huis mom going cray-cray!

      • Baby

        Awww 17+ is fabulous.. Jen

You know to tell you the truth I don’t think she’s done that before..she’s really good.. ( knock on wood) but it is good to know if I need some some day.. I will remember that thank you..

    • Juicer77

Awwww Lulu. I know you will discipline her sternly with many kisses and sweet words LOL. That pic is too funny!

      • Baby

        I did..I did.. it is funny..they are a trip..thaks

        • PlanetJ

Yes ma’am..it’s a park. I left for a mini vaca (holiday for my British friends..lol) this weekend. my BFF bought a new house out in the country,so we spent the night and hungout by her pool and lake.. (it’s BEAUTIFUL!) I’ll have to show you pics this evening. But..anyway,My son had to “fur baby sit” this weekend..my son is a fitness trainer,so he took them to the park with him, while he ran sprints. They pooped out before he did,of course…lol
          Hey..my instagram account is

Cause OMG.. I would buy any of those pictures.. Just gorgeous. (f5)

I sold a lot of photography in my shop.. here’s a picture of a dilapidated old boat that I digitally manipulated..for an example.. (https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e481166ab99b5e623942a25874d50de2a9fd69bbb651187aa47d35974a5f5d4b.jpg

Yes.. I had 5 shops.. I sold digital downloads and they sold..

You have to be careful though.. there are those that have had their work

stolen.. I can get away with it now because I am retired from all that..

and I wanted my art to be shared.. so I would charge $5.. a download
( The average price) but my customers would buy several at a time..

I started with prints, but my Giclee costs were so high.. that I thought..shit I’ll just sell my downloads that sit in my computer.

but many photographers and artists don’t like to put them out there like that.. and I certainly respect them for that..

I use Picmonkey for all of my editing.. If you ever have questions don’t hesitate to contact me.. xox we creative people must stick together!

            • PlanetJ

You will deff be hearing from me..I know about the stolen art..it happened on IG,too. I’ve started watermarking all my work, because of that. sux. :(

            • Baby

there is another picture under the boat.. I just can’t get over your photography..just jaw dropping..artistic and really spoke to me..

Also.. How do I sign up for my own Instagram? Is there a charge?

            • PlanetJ

No charge at all! Just a user name (it can be anything or your real name..or a made up name) an email and make up a password. and that’s it! If you need any help..I’ll be more than happy to help!
I’m so GLAD you like you photography! Sqeeeeee!! lol I really do appreciate that you liked my stuff..I’m a tiny bit proud of it. 😉

            • Baby

Girl..you should be so damn proud.. I can see your passion shining through..

I worked with a photographer in High School.. I have always been interested in it.. Your pictures convey so much.. OK..off to snoop on Instagram.. thanks darlin..

so glad you showed me these..I have been going crazy ..I couldn’t find any of my damn e mail passwords.. and my main one has my name in it.. ( Thanks to Mr. Baby..ugh..) xox

            • PlanetJ

            • Baby

Planet.. You know I was thinking I am going to post my Instagram on the Bunker for others to take..

If you are my friend on Instagram would that show your pieces too? I don’t want to do that to you.. ; D

            • PlanetJ

no..it wont show on your page..only your work will show on your page..unless you featured my pic or someone elses..thats the only way mine (or anyone elses pics) will show up. :)

            • PlanetJ

PS..if you like someone’s pic..click the heart! (that sounds familiar) 😀
When you are trying to comment to someone on yours or other peoples pics dd the @ (then their name) that’s the only way it will show up in their feed,to let them know you are talking to them. just a friendly reminder on ho IG works. 😉

Watching Bravo and I think there’s a new show potential for DM to consider to rehabilitate the public perception of the Church and its treatment of women: The Real Housewoves of Scientology.

Just imagine … a series featuring the real lives of Jenna Elfman, Elena Cardone, Juliette Lewis, Trish Duggan and their friends doing all the normal things that fantastically (or notoriously) famous do.

Just imagine the excitement of an all expense paid vacation to Flag to comple the Cause Resurgence Rundown or Purif. Or maybe handing out TWTH and giving touch assists to the needy on Hollwood Boulevard.

Wow! That could just make things so much better.

    • PerpetualOutflow

I think a Real Housewives of Scientology with Shelly Miscavige, Carla Moxon, and Sylvia Stannard would be more interesting.

      • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

How could I forget about Carla!?!?

But given Shelly’s current status how about what’s-her-face Korbin? She has a face for TV?

PS: Notice how I’ve suggested every one but an actress fka as Saavik?

      • MaxSpaceman

along with Jenny LAX and the redoubtable Ms Congeniality Scilon lawyer Helena Korbin

        • daisy

          lol

        • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

I can’t blame Helena. If you had to work long, grueling hours with Ken Moxon defending Scientology … wouldn’t you also look like this?

        • PerpetualOutflow

Oh yes, yes…Helena and Jenny…most definitely!

      • villagedianne

I have never watched a Real Housewives show, but from what I’ve read, they get together, drink, and say insulting things to one another. I can just see a Real Housewives of Scientology now. They’ll need subtitles to translate it into English.

“Stay away from my husband you 1.1 bitch!”

“For your information, I’ve already been out 2d with your husband.”

“I’m writing a KR on you!”

“Go ahead, you SP c**t. I’m richer than you and I donate more money than you. They’ll com ev your DB ass right out of this universe.”

          Priceless. heee heee

        • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

Don’t forget that they need to get really drunk and flash their tits in public from time to time. Gotta keep it interesting.

          • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

No. Even Bravo has certain standards. They aren’t high standards but even Andy wouldn’t let Helen flash her boobs on TV.

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

              Boobs are boobs!

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

I say: “Show me your boobies!”
and this is what I get…

            • Baby

              Awwwww sweet..

            • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

              Is that a puggle?

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

Nope, a 14lb chihuahua miniature pinscher mix.

            • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

I have 28 lb. puggle and upside down they look virtually the same; the difference being a male appendage.

            • PantalonesCalienteYDelicioso

I attempted to edit the picture of my dog for ‘modesty’, and found that it was really hard to get all 8 boobies in and not show the chocha!

I sometimes imagine what it would be like to make a bikini top that would cover all 8 nipples and whether it is likely my dog might tolerate having to wear it if I did make one. Bikini bottoms are fairly standard, just need to have an opening in the rear for her little tail – and might help reduce the amount of time she spends licking her nethers. At least she doesn’t do that as much as my cat did – if the cat was awake she was almost certainly licking her lady-kitty-parts, especially the final couple of years.

            • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

Only in a strictly physical sense. Those who can get away with it don’t, those who should never sadly do.

            • Always Amazed

I beg to differ, he is shameless. Most often fun… But shameless.

Great idea tho, I have been waiting for some CS reality show. Or even a “how I escaped scientology..” could be good.

        • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

Leave it to him to dress in the role of the villain in this particular bit of history.

Note: That is not to indicate Egyptians, nor Arabs or people of middle-east descent, are villains. I am referring to a set of people in a particular time frame thousands of years ago. The only person that should be offended is a certain American douche bag. Just in case I inadvertently offend someone. I don’t like doing that because I like almost all people. Except perhaps Grant but that could be due to more than his being a douche bag and more reminding me other douche bags in my life.

  • Michael Leonard Tilse

Ode for Shelley. (Apologies to Don Mclean)

For ten years she’s been on her own, nose pressed tight to the turning stone
But that’s not how it used to be…
When Shelley served second to the COB
In a face she borrowed from Mary the empress queen
And a choice that she never really made, on her own

She paced his steps through his palace
Quick with the bandage and mocked up malice
A queen to match his mad king
A lost waif, such a sad thing

And when the tiny Pope frowned his frown
His fists went flying and pink legs fell down
    The marriage was adjourned
To the compound she was returned

And while she etched Hubbard’s books
And security gave her stony looks
She held her tears for midnight
    No escape from her plight

She isn’t singing bye bye to her imprisoned sigh
No police will hear her desperate cry
They all took their bribes, and turned away
She will only leave after she dies
Leaving on the day that she dies.

      • Michael Leonard Tilse

Yea, very sad. And I am afraid it is the logical end. She knows too much and she has community property rights. As long as she is married to him, she can’t be forced to testify against him. And she knows that with the assets available to him, there is nowhere she would be safe. So she will continue to explain how it is her own fault she is in exile and she must continue to try to work to rehabilitate herself, even though she knows David, her husband, is insane.

But just like LRH, on the basis of the slightest brush with the real thing, Cardone now positions himself as the “star” of a whole host of TV productions… all airing on “Grant Cardone TV.”

And what, exactly is it? It’s a big collection of FAIL. Failed TV shows. Failed pitches for TV shows. Failed ideas for TV shows.

It is a prime example of just how far one can go on sheer chutzpah and other people’s money.

          • Douglas D. Douglas

Oh yeah. “Whatever It Takes” was a failed pitch for a reality series that died aborning in 2013. But in Cardone-world, it’s a network.

Kirstie just tweeted this a minute a go…. didn’t really want to investigate the reasoning as it stands for itself

    • jazzlover

We already know she’s off her rocker. This just confirms how much. Jeez.

      • http://scientologybollocks.blogspot.co.uk/ media_lush

I’ve noticed a pattern over these past few months… it seems pretty obvious to me that she’s drinking quite a lot again… on my blog I posted a few pics others had tagged her in from a bar in her hometown where she really looked pissed… there were also numerous hilarious tweets from locals from her hometown who said she was an embarrassment and not welcome as well… if the cancer rumour is true I can only imagine things are going to get pretty bad…

        • http://www.tonyortega.org/ DodoTheLaser

It’s like she is in a twilight zone, where RTC really doesn’t know how to get rid of her and Critics having a field day with her footnuke tweets, almost every day. She is a trainwreck.
But I hope she will retire healthy, happy and a cult free some day soon.

          • http://scientologybollocks.blogspot.co.uk/ media_lush

according to her imdb page In 2007,she gave $5 million to the Church of Scientology… I wonder if she computes her relatively desperate situation now with that

        • jazzlover

More proof that one should stay away from a keyboard when drunk. I simply don’t understand how a mother can act the way she does and expect to be a positive role model for her children. Mind-boggling.

Wouldn’t being a sister wife require:

      1) conversion to fundamental Mormonism
      2) women who would be willing to share a man with you (not just Jenny Craig tips)
      3) a man who would be willing to share anything with you (not just sex)

I’m not going to be so crass as to suggest she is beyond any love or intimacy. Just not in her current state of existence.

This is just so, so nuts. As much as Shelly may have been trained to think and act like an asshole more or less all her life, I have to feel for her. Oh, well, maybe she’s in the only place where she can ever belong. Maybe that’s at the bottom of a pit somewhere.

The part about Miscavige going “Type III” is what’s most interesting to me. Not news, really, but people with untreated mental disabilities tend to get worse and worse over time. He may snap and pull something really visible that will bust him at some point, but I doubt it. He knows what could bust him and he’s spent a lot of years learning how to work that. Plus, he’s got enough captive scapegoats that whenever the spirit moves him he can just take it out on them, and nobody will ever know. Perhaps he already has.

    • SP Wogsy

I felt that her saying that was pretty telling. It is also something that would have came up in sec check if she really fixated on it, and it seems like she did. You don’t think he would have known that she had
those “thoughts”? Going Type III isn’t a small thing in Scientology being that it would qualify him for Baby Watch. Seems like that would be enough reason for him to want to shut her up.

    • http://www.tonyortega.org/ DodoTheLaser

Type III or not, dude likes his gold.

My guess is that as an adult, he has rarely had to suffer the consequences of inappropriate behavior. This just fuels his mental illnesses and emboldens him I suspect. He is protected by billions of tax free dollars, overpaid attorneys and adherents who will not or cannot turn him in.

      • jazzlover

Kinda the same thing that happens to all who hire only “yes” men.

  • BTs2Free

I knew Shelly, but to me I sensed a person who was very lonely and didn’t have many close friends. Being COB’s wife and COB Assistant, she had to maintain a level of Ethics Presence toward everyone around her, except for maybe a few other RTC executives. So that shrunk any sort of social circle she could have where she could actually be herself. And who knows, maybe it was very rare that she could ever be herself.

She was always really friendly to me though, and there are a couple of things I attribute to that. I guess I’ll start with when I first had to do anything that was on “COB’s lines” which is always a hot seat position to be in, because you’re working on one of his direct orders, and there’s usually a tight window of time that it has to be done in. We were renovating the new Qual building (the one that looks like the church on Hwy 79) and upgrading it so that we would have new course rooms for both crew and VIP public to study in. There were about 10 of us who were taken off our posts and put onto this project full time so that it could get done within a certain time frame. My wife Melanie and I were fortunate to both be put on the paint team together, which was awesome because husband and wife SO members rarely get to see each other while on post and here we were spending every day together getting paint all over us! It was a short lived dream in the grand scheme of things, but this was around the time that I first got to know Shelly as she came by almost daily to check out the progress on the building and was very friendly to us. She appreciated how fast we were working and the quality of our work that she decided that Melanie and I should be made I/C and Deputy of the “Paint Team.” I mean there were freakin’ announcements about how the Peelers were the heroes over at the Qual renos at staff musters. Anyway, that couple of months was by far my happiest experience in the SO over the 10 years I was in it.

I would see Shelly after that project all the time at the base and every time she saw me she would smile and say Hi John! Sometimes I’d see her alone, walking one of the dogs and I’d say hello. Other times I’d see her either riding with COB around the base or a part of his entourage during inspections or when he would decide to drop in somewhere to dish something out. Another distinct memory I have of Shelly is when I was on the TTC (Technical training Corps) in training to be a Security Checker and Auditor. I was doing E-Meter drills with someone when her, COB and an entire entourage of RTC execs walked into the course room to do an inspection. Well, for some reason when they walked behind me, that’s when COB decided to park for a while. Luckily, my metering skills for what it’s worth were spot on and after they went around me, Shelly was looking at me with a genuine, big smile on her face and nodded in approval. There’s more to that story which I will have to tell at some other point though.

The one thing that will always stick out in my mind about Shelly though is that it seemed like she actually cared about the people around her. I mean yeah, she could get angry and could be very intense if one was screwing something up on COB’s plate, but that didn’t mean she didn’t care. The personal experience I have with her on this is when Melanie was promoted to RTC and sent off to Flag to be an RTC Representative. She was gone for months and months and I didn’t know when I’d ever see her again. It might have been a year before I finally petitioned COB to send me to Flag so that I could work at the same location. Shelly personally asked me if it would be alright with me that instead of sending me out to Flag, if they could bring Melanie to LA to be the RTC Rep at the Advanced Org. She said that I would see Melanie more because she’d be coming up to the base on some weekends for meetings and briefings. Well, this is exactly what happened, but despite Malanie being an hour and a half away, I still never got to see her! Regardless, I did get that Shelly actually cared about our situation and honestly wanted Melanie and I to be able to get to see each other.

So, I personally wish the best for Shelly and hope that one day she will be able to escape from wherever she is.

    • Supper Powers

Wish the FBI would identify illegal activity and raid Gold and the other compounds like they did the LDS. Get the Sea Org out of there and in a safe place so they can find a moment to think and have access to escape options. Plus I want to see Miscavige pee his panties.

Anybody watched “Narcos” yet?… watched the trailer and it looked amazing… already got 9.2 on imdb

    • Libertylover

I watched it, really good! It’s all about Pablo Escobar and goes 4/5ths through his story in the first season. It’s told from the US DEA perspective and the agents involved. Apparently it will continue with other cartels for several seasons
Then I watched “Pablo Escobar, El Patron del Mal” (also on Netflix) because I wanted to know more and it’s done by Columbian TV. It gives their perspective too from Columbia. It’s 70 1hr episodes and I’m up to episode 44. I take frequent breaks to google the stories and watched a few documentaries as well to learn more. Fascinating stuff.

      • Frodis73

I’ll have to add the one from Columbia to the list…it will be interesting to hear things from their side for sure.

        • Libertylover

Add the Spanish language documentary too after you have watched a bit, it’s also on Netflix.
          “Los Tiempos de Pablo Escobar”

          • Frodis73

            Thanks for the tip(s)!

        • Libertylover

Half of Narcos is in Spanish half English. The accents aren’t Colombian though.
In the Colombian series the American/English bits are heavily accented and played by Colombians.

      • http://scientologybollocks.blogspot.co.uk/ media_lush

where would you put it on the Soprano’s, Breaking Bad, Wire, etc list?

        • Libertylover

Just a little below all those, because the stories are based on true events. My main complaint about Narcos is that they completely leave out Griselda Blanco and her story and involvement wit Pablo Escobar. You would have to get that from Cocaine Cowboys 1 or 2 or Cocaine Cowboys reloaded(all on Netflix) or wait for the Catherine Zeta Jones movie coming out.
I just re-watched The Wire widescreen HD reissue, I loved the show all over again. I think you can see I’m biased about Breaking Bad. Soprano’s I love and was finally glad the director spoke up and said what happened on the last episode LOL, which I now like but hated at the time almost destroying my TV.

          • Frodis73

He changed what he said about the ending though…now saying Tony is alive. I always took that ending that he was shot in that last scene…now it seems not so clear if you add his latest comments about the whole thing. It sucked at the time, but as I absorbed it, it was fitting and I think worked perfectly. I care too much about this stuff. Lol. I need a life.

            • Libertylover

He did? I thought he made it clear he was dead, oh well. There is a scene by scene analysis on You tube that clears up a lot. I’m going to go with he’s dead and that’s what it might be like no sound, just fade to black. He probably wanted to be ambiguous and leave it up to the viewer and artistic licence. Maybe he gave too many clues and tried to be ambiguous again

            • Frodis73

I totally thought he made it clear he was dead too. From the actual ending and interviews. Just a few months ago he made another statement (I’d have to go google it) that def made it sound like maybe he was alive. In my world, he is dead. :-) I have seen the youtube videos and there is blog that does an amazing shot by shot breakdown that was pretty darn cool. See? I have no life and take these things a little too seriously at times. I’m with you though, he is dead.

            • Libertylover

I take it very seriously too, yep he’s dead and I love the website too.

            • Libertylover

How about “Better Call Saul” ? Slow start different pace but great last few episodes of the first season. Just enough like Breaking Bad but different. I can’t wait for next season.

            • Frodis73

Love it! I enjoyed it a lot and don’t want them to rush into him being Saul too fast. That is one thing I keep hearing from some people. I want it to let it develop slowly, but naturally. We know Saul from BB and it will be fun to see him again, I also want to meet the guy he was before that and watch his transformation. The relationship between the two brothers is great and I love that it was his brother that blocked him from getting a job. I am very eagerly waiting for season 2.

            • Libertylover

Yep agreed the brother thing was a great reveal. The Thundermans Haha.
I only thought of Spinal Tap once during the whole series.

            • Frodis73

I love that you knew exactly what site I was talking about. I showed it to somebody else who is a fan, but they were a bit confused that somebody would spend that much time analyzing it like that. Probably thought I was weird for obsessing about it. :-)

            • Libertylover

Nah not weird, the Sapranos was Golden Age stuff, TV has really gotten good in past years, be proud, Stand Tall!

            • Frodis73

TV is kicking ass! All the good stuff is there. It seems like movies are mostly super hero, action type things (that is ok-I can enjoy those too!) geared towards a global audience. With tv we get a lot more variety and niche programming…people were taking risks and doing things we had not seen before.

            • Libertylover

Yep I mostly avoid the blockbusters still a few good movies though.

          • http://scientologybollocks.blogspot.co.uk/ media_lush

I’ve actually had this discussion with friends of mine and my POV was that Breaking Bad won hands down as a genuine “Narrative” series as the story just had the most amazing episode endings to prime you for the next one… my buddies who I hadn’t lent it to before to a tee couldn’t stop themselves from watching non-stop. But that’s it’s strong point and it’s weak point when compared to Soprano’s. The strfength of Soprano’s was that each episode was individually crafted as a “full meal” so to speak and whilst the narrative was still important you could enjoy each episode as a single entity… hence I’ve watched the series probably 4 to 5 times over. BB on the other hand had the main premise of “what the hell is going to happen next” and once you know it’s difficult to rewatch the series later. Both are amazing and masterpieces of TV drama but Sopranos edges it for me because each time I come across an episode on TV I find myself putting the remote down and thoroughly enjoying it again.

            • Libertylover

Agree they are different shows both great in their own way. Breaking Bad’s last 6 Episodes were just incredible stuff, but not so much once you know what happens it’s not as much fun to re-watch as the Sopranos.

            • Frodis73

Yes, you can definitely savor the Sopranos on so many levels even if you have seen the episode multiple times. So much going on there. I’m due for a re-watch of the entire series myself.

          • http://scientologybollocks.blogspot.co.uk/ media_lush

yeah, I saw The Corner years ago and was really impressed [guess it turned into The Wire] … it only appeared after midnight on Channel 4 in the UK… same as another series that really deserved late night prime time which was Oz.. now that was amazing… so few people saw that over here

            • Frodis73

It’s great that you have seen Oz. Another one of my favs. It doesn’t get that much attention over here either. So many amazing people came out of that show too. I’m really glad you know about it. Another show that shares some ugly truths about America. :-)

Another series I loved was called “Le Spiral”… the first series was the best French TV drama I’d ever seen … http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0477507/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

fell in love with the red head lawyer in it… the first 3 series are really strong but they obviously bought in new writer for the next 2 and it it turned into something written for American cable… last one is Braquo http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1429534/ … imagine a French version of The Shield… first two series brilliant… 3rd enjoyable… 4th.. not really trying anymore but has it’s moments!

Next series due out next year!

            • Libertylover

They called it the corner in the UK? I liked “The Fall” and how hard assed Gillian Anderson was, can’t wait for the X Files to start again. I really liked “Happy Valley” too.
I have to watch OZ one day.

            • Frodis73

No, ‘The Corner’ has some of the same characters and it’s set in the same city, but it’s not The Wire. It’s only 4 or 6 eps long too (been awhile since I’ve watched it). I think it is on youtube too. I still have to watch the 2nd season of The Fall. Gillian is my girl crush and I am also dying to see the X Files. I hope they end it right this time. (fingers crossed)

            • http://scientologybollocks.blogspot.co.uk/ media_lush

I meant it set the precedent of a new “style” of TV filmmaking… not so much the actual story as such

            • Libertylover

I saw Gillian with Duchovny at the end of NYC Comicon 2 years ago. I sat in the 4 row right in front. She is a gorgeous lady.
I hope they end it right too, they were just announcing it too. I heard it’s just ended filming, must avoid, it’s too easy to get spoilers nowadays.

If you can get a hold of them I cannot recommend enough a few of the Scandinavian series out there… the original The Bridge [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1733785/] was one of the best things I’ve ever seen on TV … I guarantee you will love it!

            • Libertylover

              SEGA

            • Frodis73

I remember when you first recommended The Bridge and I couldn’t find it online. It is still on my list of shows I want to see based on what you said about it months ago.

            • Libertylover

I’ve seen it all. Martin is not coming back his year. It’s back on in September but Saga is with a new partner.

            • Libertylover

I’m a big fan of Nordic Noir. It started with the original Wallander. I have watched Borgen and The Killings too Love them all. Sofie Grabol was also in “Fortitude” with Stanely Tucci and Michael Gambon. I liked that two, incredible scenery, the story was a tiny bit silly at the end but I really liked the show, the fine acting kept it together.

            • http://scientologybollocks.blogspot.co.uk/ media_lush

another one that I got hooked on was The Legacy… brilliant… such a simple story and so brilliantly believable http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2341762/

First series obviously better but the 2nd held up pretty well… as I said, I’m pretty much hooked

            • Libertylover

I’l have to put that on my list too, looks good thanks for the IMDB link.
I don’t have TV Service (but have a TV hooked to my computer) at all and only try to watch shows and movies that are the highest rated from all over the world. I hate commercials too and literally have never heard some of the most seen ones in pop culture. I have to search pretty hard for subtitles sometimes. I have actually used google translate to get subs from other countries when they aren’t available, but it’s getting easier all the time. I go in phases I watched a lot of Korean movies a few years ago lately I am watching South American stuff.

            • http://scientologybollocks.blogspot.co.uk/ media_lush

I have Sky with all the channels over here so I’m spoiled… all of the stuff so far has been serious drama but there’s a half hour Norwegian comedy series they’re showing on Sky Arts called ‘Dag’… the premise is he’s a couples therapist who scorns all his patients and advises them to get divorced… it’s unique in the sense I just can’t think of anything to compare it too… in the 2nd episode it had one of the funniest and absolutely NON PC scenes I’ve ever seen on TV {America, and even the UK would never have dared to show it} and it had me laughing like an idiot for the next 5 minutes. Definitely something different.

            • Libertylover

Oh Thanks that looks really good, I used to watch a lot of Nordic TV, I need something funny, too much serious stuff. Keep the recommendations coming if you hear of anything good. I have watched to many Documentaries since “Going Clear” the movie not me.
So many good shows starting again this month Bron/The Bridge has been off now for 2 or more years. I like how Jon Stewart was a fan and used Kim Bodina in his not bad movie.

I enjoyed Fortitude but it annoyed me by being a bit too oblique with the plot at times… the hinting at supernatural just annoyed me… masterclass by Tucci… shame what happened

For verisimilitude, 70% is in Spanish w/ subtitles. If you don’t mind that, you’ll see great episodic storytelling with a lead performance, by a Brazilian playing a Columbian, that is 1 brilliant performance. Great series.

  • salin

    A decade.

Think about that time frame in regards to your own life. What changes have happened, what accomplishments have been in the past ten years.

Shelly’s story, though we may never learn it, is important. It signals questions about the RPFs, the RPF’s RPFs and the Hole.

    Mind blowing to think about.

Add the layers of mind control, that make this scenario unpleasant, but ‘acceptable’ to many of those people living in that condition, unfathomable to outsiders. To both audiences, I repeat: a decade – what has changed in your own life in the past ten years? Imagine wiping those ten years out regarding anything beyond the RPF (or its variations.)

Doubt you can hear that sound, but it is a part of my heart breaking. A decade. Not just for Shelly, but for all who are currently in any variation of the RPF/imprisonment.

    • romanesco

Unfathomable to outsiders? Think again, my brother. Pathological narcissists abound, and they pull this exact same bullshit on anyone and everyone they can gain control over.

      • salin

Good Point. Side note (I am your sister, rather than brother 😀 )

        • romanesco

          Pardon, sis.

    • PerpetualOutflow

Yes, it is heartbreaking for Shelly and for anyone else who is withering away on the RPF, cowering in fear and hidden away somewhere, desperately trying to do what their minders tell them will free them. Shameful, despicable, and should not be happening in the US in 2015. let alone anywhere else.

    • http://scarfolk.blogspot.com mon elle

But a decade in terms of a large view on life is nothing and it can be easily ignored in the context of life experience and one’s perceived lifespan.

10 years to a 10 year old is huge and the same total of existence
10 years to a 90 year old is a blink in the eye
10 years to someone who has a whole track life that stretches into the trillions of years is less than an exhalation
10 years to someone with eternity ahead is less than a stray thought

That the church doesn’t see an increase in people (long-timers) drop the body is interesting.

      • Missionary Kid

As much as they like to ballyhoo the slogan “we come back”, nobody has, or, if they have, they choose not to be involved with $cientology, because it’s shrinking.

      • salin

Interesting path to think about. Agree about the 0 -10 years old.

But for the next comparison – I give a caveat -I am the primary child in the family dealing with a parent in the late 80s, a decade brings very significant changes in this age range.

The other 2 explanations are in Scientology terms. I am not speaking to “in” Scientologists, in my post. While these are points to consider when working from that point of view, my point isn’t to the whole track or non-science based view of a trillion+ year history of earth. It is about today’s post – and humanizing it to ourselves and what a decade in our own lives has meant to our own lives.

Perhaps it is late, and I am just not able to express myself clearly. Apologies.

I predict there has been a high profile divorce lawyer(s) making attempts to contact Shelly to represent her in divorce proceedings against David Miscavige.

A significant percent of her community property as fee will justify extreme measures including suborning her wog ex-special forces security detail to pull her out of CST compound under cover and ensconcing her in a well defended safe house while the papers are filed and the legal wheels turn. It probably is already in the works.

Not that Our Proprietor ever takes a peek at the silly bullshit we peons post here in the comments, but I gotta say, today’s piece is really something. Writing is so much more than technical accuracy (though it does help one’s credibility, and I’ll continue to fight for it).

The whole thing is very well-stated, typo-free, well-researched and, most importantly, delivers some really amazing information.

    P.S.: Disqus sux horse penises.

    • Annie

Lol. I think he reads almost all of it. He’s the moderator, too.

    • Tony Ortega

I actually do try to at least glance at every comment at the Bunker. I will admit that I pay more attention to the ones that seem like they might yield new information or story ideas than the ones which are more in the way of off-topic conversation (and I highly encourage those conversations, by the way).

Anyway, I appreciate the compliment. I actually work very hard on these stories, and this one I spent hours on while at a cabin in the woods over the holiday weekend after the responses from Claire and Jefferson and Karen and the others had come in. Not everyone might think that’s the most relaxing way to spend a holiday, but I enjoyed it. Shelly’s is a complex story, and I think it’s worth getting right. It really is truly stunning that the CEO of a billion-dollar business can simply make his high-profile wife simply disappear for a decade without this country’s authorities seeming to take an interest.

As for Disqus, I’ll paraphrase Churchill: Disqus is the worst commenting system I’ve ever encountered. Except for all the rest.

Whether he thinks he shouldn’t have too, the fact that he DM doesn’t think he needs to show the world (and his fellow members and the whales) that ‘see, wifey is fine and happy you have seen her for yourself at the next big shots event” is mind boggling and defies ALL sanity and common sense! then again, does he ignore the wog world, media and critics? and since the whales and the celebs either are all cowards or don’t care then why should this be addressed at all? i would love to know what he tells TC if “how is shelley? where is shelley?” EVER comes up!..

We had a funeral for my Mom last June in my old home town. A guy from my highschool class was there. He never left town, never married, never held a job. His whole life is our home town. Sad. I told him that I didn’t care about that town any more – harsh I know – but his whole life is wrapped up in our home town.

        • Baby

Sandy.. first I’m sorry for your loss of your mother.

But girl.. I hear ya.. That is exactly what my hometown is like. I think out of my graduating class only about 4 left out of 83.

They still talk about the ” Glory Days..” attend every football game. My best friend in HS still wears her cheerleading jacket ( 68). So many lost dreams.

Our valedictorian works at the Dollar general..Not that there is anything wrong with that of course, but she had such potential. Same guys sitting on the same bar stool in the same beer joint..talking about..

” One day I’m gonna move to California.. ” ” I could have been a pro football player if my Old lady didn’t get knocked up..” blah, blah..blah..

I just could NOT go back this year.. I decided I was done. They are all trapped in THEIR own bubble. And once YOU dare leave they are pretty much done with you.

Cool. Not that we should be pen pals or anything, just good to have a door or window to chuck stuff at each other if in the mood. Cleveland is gonna be cool and I’m making special Lego treats but you can’t eat them unless you don’t like having teeth. Otherwise munch away

            • Jimmy3

I will eat them anyway. I might not be there for the pre-party, but I’ll be at the event and for whatever people are planning for the after-party. I have little to no details at this point, but it sounds like a lot of people are coming, and it should be fun.

      Rats.

      I missed all the drama.

      As usual.

      • Supper Powers

Missing “drama” is good. It frees you up to focus on CoS collapsing and some J/D.

        • Douglas D. Douglas

          Mmmmmmm. J&D.

I don’t find it to be very friendly to enjoy an argument between friends.

            • Baby

There were a lot of people saying the same thing.. In fact I was going to say the same thing as EO.. but I went to find the argument instead.

I think when it’s an open forum like this and LL brought up again.. It is only natural for others to want to know what the hell happened.

We are all a close community.. and many would like to know the back story.. Again it’s just human nature.

            • Supper Powers

Agreed. What rubs my fabric the wrong way is the appearance of deriving pleasure from the conflict amongst us. I said my peace, I’m moving on.

If you don’t like a derailing thread then go to the right top area of a comment and click the dash – then it will hide all the sub comments. If you see something too abuse, political, illegal, etc. you can click the flag but remember tony doesn’t want to remove comments if he can avoid it!

    • Baby

LL…It took me a long time to find it..

You can not ask a community this size for opinions.. What were you thinking Mr.? Good God do you know how many people roll their eyes when they see my avi? I mean dog pictures.. Chili scoopers and Library stories?

Shake it off.. I wouldn’t have the guts to ask if I was a derailer.. Cause I know I am.. It’s all good. We are here to educate, inform..discuss and gab.. Tony stated

“I will admit that I pay more attention to the ones that seem like they
might yield new information or story ideas than

      ****the ones which are more
in the way of off-topic conversation (and I highly encourage those
      conversations, by the way).***

We are all adults. We all are here.. I have never collapsed a comment myself. I find each member a very valuable member of the Bunker.

Yes.. more posters more comments… That is just the way we role here.. Some days I do not post..some days a couple..and other days I live on here.. So be it..

So Buck up Buckaroo.. We got a cult to fight.. love baby

      • Mooser

“Good God do you know how many people roll their eyes when they see my avi?”

Roll their eyes and shout “C’mon seven, baby needs a new pair of shoes”? But it just shows you, that you can’t hide having a glass eye. It always comes out in the conversation.

LL, for what it’s worth I think you post just the right amont of wömbat pics :)

Did you know who moved in to the Duisburg, Germany zoo just a month or so ago?
      /watch?v=0P8dKZkgIXA

Duisburg Zoo is keeper of the official international wombat breed registry (studbook).

Also, Emma the oldest known wombat of all time (34 yrs) used to live there.

    • noseinabk

Lurker, please reconsider your comment. The person you are upset with is blunt but also very good-hearted. I do not agree with her on everything but I sure agree on what she posted about a few others.

I too get impatient with some of the commenters. A few of them post ridiculous comments that are self serving and appear to be for derail purposes only. I know that some newbies are excited to join the community and get a little carried away at first. Time will tell if they settle in and learn when and what is appropriate. Starting new threads to argue politics or religion (or talk about underwear) is annoying and only serves that persons agenda to derail. There are better places on the net to do these things. When a new person does this consistently it usually does not go unnoticed or commented about. I am not telling people what to post nor do I advocate that anyone do so. However, any of us should be able to speak up if we think someone is going off the rails or being a jerk.

We have unfortunately lost some of our people who helped with monitoring the bunker in an unofficial way. Some of those people are very good at poking and prodding newbies to act accordingly and some of them are good at calling out BS when they see it. Its one thing when a conversation takes a natural turn to OT or someone wants to share pics or events or lighten the mood with a funny. That is not the same as the person who deliberately comes here to post only OT crap. Do you see the difference in who is commenting as part of the community and who is only interested in derails and arguments?

As Jimmy said, no way would I want to see this place be on topic all the time. There are plenty of places the die hard on top police can go talk about COS. I have seen those people comment that this place is more of a chat channel, they can suck it and go over to one of the on topic only sites or whatever. 😛
What those people do not understand is that many here become part of a community that sometimes works or plays together in real life.

      • Mooser

Well, I know this sounds funny, but I used to worry all the time that the comment section would exceed its digital capacity and bring down the server. Which would immediately burst into flame, of course, or even explode! I spent Bunker live-blogging days in one hell of a swivet, I can assure you, reeling around the house, bellowing “Cancel my Rumba lesson” and deleting expletives left and right!.
Luckily for me, a friend who has much more experience with computers and toaster ovens and egg-timers and stuff like that noticed my distress, and took the trouble reassure me this is not a possibility, or at least, not likely. Or “doesn’t happen all that often”, I think, is how he put it.
        So I still worry.

        • noseinabk

It may smoke a little on live blog days but I can can assure you we will not burn down the blog with this nonsense. Stay calm Mooser.

This is all fabricated drama. There are no real issues at hand and time will sort it as it always does.

        • noseinabk

Sometimes a little dust up can clear the air and set things right. As long as it doesn’t keep coming up in new posts and become a constant
          derail.

I’m gonna flounce away now just for the dramatic impact.
          And I’m not coming back.
          EVER.
          Well, not to this thread anyway. :-}

        • daisy

Nat I sent you post saying that I thought you were mean. saying LL was a drama queen No it will not go in the hall of fame for niceness, but I have since been able to read the thread that was talked about. ( I think) it was very mild and I think it was new so he took it harder than maybe what is too be expected. I was sticking up for a guy who has been a friend, both computer wise personally. I definitely see your point I collapse now the second I see 2 peoples names. Frankly they talk so little about sci stuff , its irritating. Some of the new people haven’t figured it out that it isn’t a chat room . That will settle as they get used to the forum They are just meeting new people and trying to get to know us. And by the way , I am perfectly aware I am a distracter. If gentle nudges don’t work, invite them to your site. These of course on the well -intentioned of us. I have no idea how to handle the 2or3 people who post simply to talk about themselves The one knows shes a problem and doesn’t care. In any case none of us want either LL or you to leave. If I am a problem I will go back to posting serious things only, Any way I shot too soon, before the facts were in an I apologize. Tony did say he doesn’t mind OT and encourage it, but I take you point about other people not posting anymore, because of the landscape. In general the early postings are more serious and I am sure they have noticed it before. They can always read that at there leisure. I feel comfortable about giving one of the newbies a gentle reminder. Have a great rest of the day
          I

          • Annie

I do hope he’s coming back. He was the first person on here to have a conversation with me, and I like him a great deal. If you speak with him, please convey that he is missed.

            • daisy

I haven’t reached him yet .This was a conversation I should have had in private on an older thread because I did not mean to get others involved. He is lovely, We as new people are well intentioned. We want to get to know people so we as a lot of questions about other things OT If we want to talk, we should be doing it on older thread so we don’t derail the conversation around scientology. We also are not all at fault. There have been others before we got here. We need to say,- Would like to continue that conversation, but not now.- find an older posts. I understand some of the points made .LL is not the problem in my opinion. He is a genuine caring person who listens and talks to us. It is the forum.I feel very bad because the problem originated with me. LL was trying to help me.

            • daisy

When I get the poems , I will post them on a older thread and people can get them there. We just need to do our sincere best to focus on scientology. humor, shoops cartoons all good if we direct them toward the subject. This particular post is not about you Annie, but I may need help with gentle prodding. We all will settle in

            • Annie

Yes, I understand. And many of the people here just have different styles. Those who have been here longer have already gotten to know each other. They also need to keep in mind that new commenters are only new to this one particular thing…we are not brand new people who need to be shaped and instructed. We all come here with our own backgrounds and experiences. For me, as with many things in my life, I think the healthiest and easiest way to deal with these sorts of things is to be extremely easy-going. Life’s too short. But if someone I like gets hurt, then I feel very bad.

            • Annie

I don’t think you should change any of your behavior, unless it makes you happy. You need that many of the wonderful contributors of us are seriously damaging experiences. And there are certain behavior but I recognize from my family exited Siam in Scientology, nattering is a waste time. And anything personal about yourself spaceUnless you want them. . In science tolerance and compassion are enemies of the organization. It’s a snitching culture, it’s a culture constantly suspicious of each other and seeking to have control and it’s a culture there is a very distinct group dynamic. For instants, it may seem completely innocuous but I’m sure you’ve noticed that every every act Scientologist and consequently most of them never in possibly to fit in, or for today is nearly every time. If you take this and put it on the shelf isolated from everything else, no where in the world is sure man so completely derided and openly jeered for physical characteristic you can’t hell , His height in the way that it is done by ex-Scientologists. And frankly, it’s petty, immature and cliquish. I understand that while I do find this behavior distasteful ( and in other situations, if applied to someone I didn’t believe was guilty of human rights violations I would find this utterly unacceptable and offensive, because I think Miscavige is the lowest of the low and doesn’t deserve protection from anything, im hypocritical enough to not to speak up and voice my discomfort. I’m just using this as an example. Further, there is a need to create an exclusive language (i.e. “Little Five One”, “Apple Box Boy”, David “Let Him Die” Miscavige and an almost dizzying array of similar “inside” insults. Inside Scientology a group mentality is created through their gobbledygook language of having missing being this. Outside there are things like this. Anyway, my real point is that Tony the creator and man responsible for this site has come down on the side of open conversation. I could not agree more. Both because Scientology does not permit this course, and because I can attest her myself that after, it felt very good to come out and talk about moving some of my family yet I have to admit I had a great deal of crepitation because I had seen other people get excoriated for another benignly going off-topic, I think we should create an atmosphere of anyone who needs to speak to DC. Now I may have ended my time here at the bumper want anyone else.

            • daisy

Lurker, I know you are upset, but I wanted you to see this post that Tony endorsed about comments at the Bunker a few hours ago. Everyone is asking about you again, and you are truly missed. I know you like to take your time when you go MIA, but please don’t feel as if your contributions here are worthless. Even though a certain poster thinks you “derail”, not everyone at the Bunker has that opinion, and many other posters absolutely adore you. Tony even said O/T comments are highly encouraged, and many of the posters go off topic ALL THE TIME. Anyways, I am dropping this off, so you can read it at your own convenience. (F5 for both screenshots)

      Much love,

Dave got really agitated and said, “Shelly, where do we put the gold? Do we bury it? Do you remember where I put the gold?” It’s like he flipped out for a minute. Then he snapped out of it, and we walked on like nothing happened.
    Quote Tom Devocht

That is worth recreating in videos and shoops to show DM’S depravity.

That could be a regular show DM’S Depravity – Inside The Scientology Cult.

And also from Tom Devocht : was married to Jenny Linson, and she worked with Miscavige a lot. End quote .

These two scenes on a TV show or YouTube video should draw interest to the utter absurdity of the Scientology cult.

    • richelieu jr

I’ve heard of ‘sticking’ your tits in someone’s face, even waving them, but ‘hanging’?

      Yipes.

Somebody get the lady a sports bra. Or perhaps a better thesaurus for “Inchy’ Linson.

      • Mockingbird

I like hanging myself, it evokes an image of a well endowed woman intentionally placing them. I think that is what Shelly was accusing the well endowed Jenny of doing.

  • EnthralledObserver

Worth asking Jenny DeVoct/Linson about the ‘tits’ incidents when she next surfaces? Yes… no?

    • romanesco

No, I don’t really give too much of a shit about that. Let’s face reality: however ugly Jenny’s recent LAX behavior may have been, she’s cute compared to Shelly, who evidiently doesn’t have the nicest personality on the face of the planet. So that accounts for her complaints. Actually, both have disgusting personalities, and who needs to look at some boring bitchfight?

Shelley Miscavige sounds like a tormented soul; but thoroughly mind controlled and probably only a miracle would get her moving out of there.

Miscavige will never let her leave, of course. She knows too much and could be a wife scorned.

I thought so..I’m not used to seeing her in a headband..she is absolutely beautiful.. and from Toledo..where I lived for 40 years..

  • Tracy Schmitz

personally i can’t even fathom or picture (even with the picture!) miscavige with a woman… or in the “biblical sense”…. (not that i want to! lol)

And to think that Scientologists think that Scientology helps promote good, healthy marriages.

Adding this link because I forgot to do it yesterday (Hey, it was Labour Day…the last gasp of summer…surely you’d understand why). I may be a day late, OSA, but posting in old blog entries is like going back in time…and it will reach all those who like to read them. I said I would post it EVERY DAY–or at least in every Bunker blog post until Theroux’s Scientology film debut…and that’s what I intend to do. Suckers!

P.S. John Alex Wood is a PTS for having his picture taken with Louis Theroux back on 9th June of this year and beaming about it on Twitter.

I was associated with Shelly for nearly 27 years for half the time I was around her quite often because I was around DM quite often, and I cannot recall a single friendly conversation with her. I think that maybe she was kind of socially inept or felt uncomfortable around others. She once told my wife and Amy Scobee that it wasn’t good to have kids because you never knew what you were going to get. In 1982 Shelly was in trouble (as was everybody else in those days) and got comm ev’d. I was a member of the committee and she had done some criminal shit, financially and otherwise. I had seen people declared for less than what Shelly was guilty of and, if I remember correctly, that was written into the findings, but she basically skated and after some time on the decks and conditions and so on, she was back in the saddle, until 2005. Unlike Devo, I never liked her though were she to make a break for it, all would be forgiven.

You know what? I don’t feel bad for her or care about her all that much. She certainly knows more than she’s letting on with her mother’s death by gunshot. So technically, she ought to be in jail. If it’s happening via Scientology rather than the justice system, well, that’s quite fitting for someone like her.

Shelly’s mother supposedly committed suicide, which is absurd. The woman was shot three times in the chest and once in the head. Really- a woman was able to shoot herself three times in the chest and then finally once in the head. This murder has been covered up by the LAPD- which makes it really hard to believe that anyone did see or contact the real Shelly Miscavige since she was reported missing. I think she is dead and why no one is taking this seriously is beyond me.

The story of every religion. Create Mumbo Jumbo. Find people who will believe your Mumbo Jumbo. Take as much money as you can from them, and use them in any way you can. If they attempt to leave use any method you can to further brainwash them, threaten them, or even kill them. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Is Shelly Miscavige still alive? Did the police saw her in person when they went to look for her? The news is so confusing. Why does David Miscavige not making a comment and letting her out?

  • reneeroseh

Unless someone outside of Scientology sees her, confirms on xamera that shes ok and wants to be left alone, I dont believe any of this. Also, Leah was never told they spoke to Shelly herself. Leah said the police told her the lawyers and Scientology said she was fine. With Davids continous outbursts of physical and verbal abuse, it would not surprise me to hear he kilked her. When you head blows up that big, you think you can get away with anything. Shelly is in a shallow grave somewhere.

Little Davey has a Personality Disorder narcissistic and is a sociopath. He is paranoid schizophrenic. He is a latent homosexual and is attracted to Tommy Cruise. No female will ever please him. I think he developed some brain damage when he was active in sports.

How insane must a person be to hear all the myriads of evidence (First account witnesses. Similiar stories. Escapees, etc, etc) and STILL be a member of Scientology after convincing yourself that ALL that evidence is just a bunch of lies, done for rediculous reasons….
Everytime I hear that an actor I likes so much is a member is confounds and saddens me: Just found out Marissa and Giovanii Ribisi are members. Or were. – Marissa is such a sweet girl. It’s hard to believe. But, maybe her husband Beck got her into it.
Those people must be unable to reason…
