Gosh, we not only had a correspondent at the New Year’s event at the Shrine Auditorium on Saturday who heard David Miscavige’s claim that Mexico has officially recognized Scientology as a religion, but we also have audio to prove it.
Some of our readers were pretty skeptical of our report on Sunday that Scientology has achieved such a thing. Well, there should be no doubt now that Miscavige at least made the claim. As you can hear in the audio, he’s very specific about it being federal recognition, and our correspondent said Miscavige showed a document from Mexico’s Secretary of the Interior to prove it. But does that document back up what Miscavige is claiming?
We have no confirmation from the Mexican government itself yet, but we figure Miscavige is going to hold back that document until video of Saturday’s event can be shown in the orgs around the world on New Year’s Eve itself.
For now, listen for yourself as Miscavige makes his announcement and then gets drowned out by the crowd’s roar…
Also, our correspondent said that Miscavige appeared to make yet another promise about Scientology’s cable television channel, which would be produced out of its new set of studios, Scientology Media Productions, dedicated with much fanfare in May 2016.
This reference in his speech was less direct, but our correspondent is correct that this is the language that Miscavige has been using in reference to the SMP going fully online. So yes, we agree with our correspondent that this appears to be Miscavige promising yet again that the cable channel is coming, and in “a few short months”…
And we have yet another treat from that night as well. Our correspondent also managed to get us a copy of a booklet that was being handed out to attendees, a guide to help them figure out which of their donations and payments to the Church of Scientology are fully tax deductible!
What a handy thing to hand out with just a couple of weeks left in the tax year.
We’re sure our document hounds and financial specialists will have fun with this document. We look forward to their observations in the comments.
Here’s the guide…
