There’s so much in Leah Remini’s 60-page lawsuit against Scientology and David Miscavige. We talked about it last week, but we’re still digging through it and finding real gems.
Leah and her legal team have put together a damning and comprehensive broadside about the way Scientology attacks the people it considers enemies and Leah in particular, and all because the urge to smear and stalk former members and journalists is baked right into the “scripture” that founder L. Ron Hubbard left behind.
In the first section of the lawsuit, Leah’s legal team described how Hubbard’s words compel Scientology to subject former members to “Fair Game,” a detailed scheme of retaliation based on the idea that anyone who speaks out about Scientology is an enemy.
We thought we’d highlight some Scientology holy scripture that the lawsuit cites, material that is simply amazing to think is the blueprint for something that calls itself a “church.”
Let’s first take a look at the brief directive that describes what Fair Game is, part of a description of “Lower Conditions” that Hubbard penned in 1965…
PENALTIES FOR LOWER CONDITIONS
(Applies both Orgs and Sea Org)LIABILITY — Suspension of Pay and a dirty grey rag on left arm and day and night confinement to org premises.
TREASON — Suspension of pay and deprivation of all uniforms and insignia, a black mark on left cheek and confinement on org premises or dismissal from post and debarment from premises.
DOUBT — Debarment from premises. Not to be employed. Payment of fine amounting to any sum may have cost org. Not to be trained or processed. Not to be communicated or argued with.
ENEMY — SP Order. Fair game. May be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed.
L. RON HUBBARD

Four years later, Hubbard spelled out some of those tactics to destroy the church’s enemies in a stunning “policy letter” known as “Battle Tactics.” Again, we will remind you, this is official “scripture” of the Church of Scientology and governs the behavior of the church and its spy wing, the Office of Special Affairs.

BATTLE TACTICS
(This is a Defense Paper on material developed after 18 years of ceaseless attack by a foreign enemy. Nothing in this paper advocates physical violence or invites the physical destruction of persons.)
In these days of “cold war” when actual warfare is impossible due to atomic weapons, the warfare is waged in the press and public in the form of ideas.
If you uniformly apply the tactics and strategy of battle to the rows we get into, press or legal or public confrontation, you will win.
The enemy uses “groups” and meetings of groups like one would use squads.
If we and they are considered as two hostile and opposing nations at war, then a huge array of tactics and strategy become visible.
One parallels in the field of thought what is used and done in the field of battle in other ages.
You don’t have to know too much about the tactics and strategy of warfare to apply this but it helps.
The end product of war, according to Klausewitz the authority on it, is (condensed) “to bring about a more amenable frame of mind on the part of the enemy.”
AdvertisementBut there are also wars of attrition. We are engaged in one where total destruction of us has been the enemy’s aim for, at this writing, 19 years. This is barbarian warfare, thus the enemy must have had very positive fears and terrors about us. Since he fought for total attrition. In this case it is not safe to hope for any half way win. We must ourselves fight on a basis of total attrition of the enemy. So never get reasonable about him. Just go all the way in and obliterate him.
It is bad warfare to fight battles on your own terrain, in your own subject area. It is not good to fight in the territory of allies. Fight battles wherever possible only on enemy terrain, in and about his subject and his people, not ours. You can gauge your relative success by this. When all your battles are fought on his terrain, you are winning.
A good general expends the maximum of enemy troops and the minimum of his own. He makes the war costly to the enemy, not to himself.
One cuts off enemy communications, funds, connections. He deprives the enemy of political advantages, connections and power. He takes over enemy territory. He raids and harrasses. All on a thought plane – press, public opinion, governments, etc.
Seeing it as a battle one can apply battle tactics to thought actions.
Intelligence identifies targets and finds out enemy plans and purposes, enemy connections, dispositions, etc. It is fatal to attack a wrong enemy. But it is good tactics to make the enemy attack wrong targets or persons himself.
Good intelligence pin points who when where what.
2.
Good PRO plans an action and operations fights the battle.
Legal is a slow if often final battle arena. It eventually comes down to legal in the end. If intelligence and PRO have done well, then legal gets an easy win.
You can win a battle even without legal and by PRO alone. You intend to win it without legal wherever possible.
The prize is “public opinion” where press is concerned. The only safe public opinion to head for is they love us and are in a frenzy of hate against the enemy, this means standard wartime propaganda is what one is doing, complete with atrocity, war crimes trials, the lot. Know the mores of your public opinion, what they hate. That’s the enemy. What they love. That’s you.
You preserve the image or increase it of your own troops and degrade the image of the enemy to beast level.
Always be ready to parley but watch for tricks. Don’t give the enemy breathing space.
AdvertisementCapture and use his comm lines. A press magnate on your side is a big win.
You have in one of these publicity wars all the factors of modern wars complete with artillery, cavalry, infantry.
For example at this writing, all fighting has been on our terrain, they knew our generals we didn’t know theirs, they had all the press, funds, government control. We are reversing this. We are fighting now on their ground. But we have a long way to go.
We will make it all the way providing we look on this in terms of active battle and not as a “if we are saintly good we will win.” The people who win wars have a saintly image but they win the war by clever and forceful use of the rules of tactics, strategy and battle.
Wars are composed of many battles.
Never treat a war like a skirmish. Treat all skirmishes like wars.
The cold war is a war. The West is losing it because it is fighting by other rules than the rules of war. We mustn’t lose it.

Leah’s lawsuit also refers to a 1972 policy written by Hubbard that is titled “Counter Attack Tactics.”

Bu of InfoCOUNTER ATTACK TACTICS
PRINCIPLE: When PR and Legal find themselves engaged in handling attacks, Intelligence has failed.
SITUATION: Those who attack Scientology as proven by Oxford Capacity Analysis graphs, criminal or shady record, personal lives etc., are provenly suppressive. When such people, as is currently common, ascend into the heights of governments or public or private organizations, or the press, they are able to exert the fullest dramatization against anything which might benefit others and usually do.
Being suppressive (a kind word for insane) their aims are destructive.
This is not limited to their fancied enemies. They are destructive to themselves and their own government or institution. This is well known to us. But there IS a situation in it which has not been solved.
WHEN YOU THREATEN TO UPSET THINGS WITH A COUNTERATTACK THIS IS PLEASING TO SUCH PEOPLE AND THEY GO ON ATTACKING AS THEY WANT THEIR OWN GOVT OR INSTITUTION ACTIVITY ATTACKED.
In other words, one plays into their hands. They WANT riot and civil commotion.
Also, by the laws of insanity (see HCO B 29 Nov 70, C/S Series 22, PSYCHOSIS) they also want themselves destroyed.
This is also known as “being selected as somebody’s executioner.”
The more you attack, the more such people goad one.
This is the true principle behind Clausewitz’s “laws of war” in which attack gets counterattack.
AdvertisementSuch people are suicidal.
Investigation discloses, for instance, that certain persons in the US govt continually alienate OPINION LEADERS so they attack the govt. Upward of 2000 army sergeants in Defense Intelligence were engaged in just this in recent years.
IRS picks a celebrity a year to attack and degrade “as an example”.
The powers that be sometimes remove such persons. Robinson, Minister of Health, Goodrich, former FDA chief amongst others were removed by other seniors at Scientology insistence but they themselves left on post would have gone on attacking harder and harder until the resulting counter-commotion had practically destroyed their agencies.
WHY: An attacker who is attacking out of his own dramatization will go on attacking until his government or agency is destroyed by the counterattack because he is generally destructive.
STATS: The UK attacks tapered off and successful recovery was begun when Robinson was removed. The FDA agency attack began to cool down when Goodrich was forced to resign. The AMA attack apparently continues via various channels and nobody has been removed.
IDEAL SCENE: (For Information Bureau) Attackers against Scientology located and removed from their positions of power so that Scientology can get on with it. And any threat of attack restrained, leaving Scientology a clear field.
HANDLING:
BRIGHT IDEA:
1. These persons can always lose their jobs. These jobs, permitting them power to destroy, are valuable to them. This is A POINT OF VULNERABILITY.
2. If the person’s job is also not valuable to him or if he cannot be made to cost his job, something can be found which he is seeking to protect and it can be threatened.
EVOLVED OPERATING PRINCIPLES:
A. COUNTER ATTACK TO OBTAIN THE REMOVAL OF THE PERSON with a product of DISMISSED ATTACKER.
B. If on test, A is not feasible, SURVEY TO FIND WHAT THE PERSON CONSIDERS VALUABLE AND USE IT FOR RESTRAINT.
AdvertisementC. AVOID WHERE POSSIBLE THE COMMOTION AND WASTED ENERGY OF PARALLELING AN ATTACKER’S OWN EVIL PURPOSE OF DESTROYING HIS OWN GOVT, AGENCY OR INSTITUTION AND INSTEAD DISCOVER THE ATTACKER AND OPERATE TO COST HIM HIS JOB.
D. Where A and C fail, use B.
PLAN:
(a) Wherever an attack is in progress (and even when being held off by counter-propaganda from PR or actions from Legal) at once swiftly draw up a precise program using Intelligence principles and cross filing to isolate the attacker.
(b) Identify the instigator.
(c) When identified or even suspected as the instigator, draw up a project which includes at least three channels to cost him his job.
(d) Draw up a second project at once to survey and discover what the person really is defending and threaten it effectively.
(e) Execute the projects rapidly.
(f) On achieving success inform PR so that PR can call off the PR counterattack and capitalize on any information gained if it does not expose Intelligence.
(g) Inform legal so Legal can replan and utilize the information also gained to mop up.
NOTE: Intelligence in these regards is not feeding PR and Legal as the only fruit of its endeavors. It is OPERATING INDEPENDENTLY of these two functions with ITS OWN PRODUCT: I.E. A DISMISSED ATTACKER or its secondary product: a totally restrained and muzzled attacker.
Note: A small unit operating with superior technology can triumph over the most gigantic but vulnerable enemy and render him pleasant.
And another lovely bit of Hubbard holy writ that the lawsuit cites, titled “Attacks on Scientology.”

Sect 5 Dept 3Anyone proposing an investigation of or an “Enquiry” into Scientology must receive this reply and no other proposal:
Advertisement“We welcome an investigation into (Mental Healing or whoever is attacking us) as we have begun one ourselves and find shocking evidence.”
You can elaborate on the evidence we have found and lay it on thick attacking the attackers only.
NEVER agree to an investigation of Scientology. ONLY agree to an investigation of the attackers
This was the BIG error made in Victoria. I Okayed an Enquiry into all Mental healing. I ordered evidence on psychiatric murders to be collected. Non-compliance with these orders brought on the loss of Melbourne and the law in Victoria against Scientology. This was the non-compliance that began it. The original order I gave was relayed as “we welcome an Enquiry into Scientology . . .” or it was changed to that in Melbourne.
This is correct procedure:
(1) Spot who is attacking us.
(2) Start investigating them promptly for FELONIES or worse using own professionals, not outside agencies.(3) Double curve our reply by saying we welcome an investigation of them.
(4) Start feeding lurid, blood sex crime actual evidence on the attackers to the press.
Don’t ever tamely submit to an investigation of us. Make it rough, rough on attackers all the way.
You can get “reasonable about it” and lose Sure we break no laws. Sure we have nothing to hide. BUT attackers are simply an anti-Scientology propaganda agency so far as we are concerned They have proven they want no facts and will only lie no matter what they discover. So BANISH all ideas that any fair hearing is intended and start our attack with their first breath. Never wait Never talk about us – only them. Use their blood, sex, crime to get headlines. Don’t use us.
I speak from 15 years of experience in this. There has never yet been an attacker who was not reeking with crime. All we had to do was look for it and murder would come out.
They fear our Meter. They fear freedom. They fear the way we are growing. Why?
Because they have too much to hide.
AdvertisementWhen you use that rationale you win. When you go dishwater and say “we honest chickens just plain love to have you in the coop, Brer Fox,” we get clobbered. The right response is “We militant public defenders of the freedom of the people want that there Fox investigated for eating living chickens!” Shift the spotlight to them. No matter how. Do it!
You can elaborate on the formula. Let’s say some other branch of government wants to investigate us via the press Just apply the formula:
“We welcome a public enquiry into (that branch activity) as we already have begun to investigate their (…).”
It will always work. It even would have worked on the U.S. F.D.A. when they first began five years before their raid on DC. They run! And that’s all we want.HOW TO STOP ATTACKS
The way we will eventually stop all attacks from there on out is by processing the society as follows:(1) Locate a source of attack on us.
(2) Investigate it.(3) Expose it with wide lurid publicity.
You see the same thing in a preclear. He has a rotten spot in his behaviour. He attacks the practitioner. The spot is located on a meter. It blows and the preclear relaxes.
Well this is just what is happening in the society. We are a practitioner to the society. It has rotten spots in it. Those show up in attacks an us. We investigate and expose – the attack ceases. We use investigators instead of E-Meters. We use newspapers instead of auditor reports. But it’s the same problem exactly.
So long as we neglect our role as auditor-to-the-society we will be attacked.
Society is pretty crazy. It’s a raw jungle. So it will take a lot of work. We must be willing to put in that work as a group or we’ll be knocked about.
AdvertisementRemember, CHURCHES ARE LOOKED UPON AS REFORM GROUPS.
Therefore we must act like a reform group.
The way to seize the initiative is to use our own professionals to investigate intensively parts of the society that may attack us. Get an ammunition locker full. Be sure of our facts. And then expose via the press.
If we do this right, press, instead of trying to invent reasons to attack us will start hanging around waiting for our next lurid scoop.
We must convert from an attacked group to a reform group that attacks rotten spots in the society. We should not limit ourselves to mental healing or own line. We should look for groups to investigate and blow the lid off and become known as a mightly [sic] reform group. We object to slavery, oppression, torture, murder, perversion, crime, political sin and anything that makes Man unfree.
The only error we can make is disperse our investigation. We do a preliminary look, then we must select a target and investigate it until we have the cold facts and then BANG, fire the salvo.
Don’t worry about libel if our facts indicate rottenness. The last thing that target will do is sue as then we would have a chance to prove it in court, which they are terrified of our doing.
Remember – the only reason we are in trouble with the press or government is that we are not searching out and exposing rotten spots in the society. We must practice on the whole group called society. If we do not it will attack us just as preclear will attack a Scientologist that won’t audit him.
To get wholly over to cause we must select targets, investigate and expose before they attack us.
We have at this writing a long way to go. But we might as well start somewhere. Begin by investigating any attacking group, find and expose the dead bodies. Then work on to our selecting the targets.
And that will handle it all.
L. RON HUBBARD
So you see, when Scientology puts out constant smears online about Leah Remini and the journalists covering the church, it’s just following the edicts of its holy host.
Thankfully, Leah Remini is now making this the subject of litigation, and we’re really looking forward to a some coverage of it in the press, which seems very interested in Leah’s lawsuit.
Hip, hip, hooray!

“A thetan is usually quite sure that there is something wrong with the ownership of his own body and sure enough there is. And of course he’s in the universe without much understanding of it. It is far more obscure that a thetan gets trapped in the remaining dynamics even though this is equally true. He isn’t really trapped in an animal if he is sitting there in a human body and so forth.” — L. Ron Hubbard, 1959

“The results with psychotics at the present time are pretty fair. Of course, psychotics are definitely in the hands of psychiatry — they are actually wards of the state — and we are trying very hard to keep those psychotics in the hands of psychiatry where they belong. After all, psychiatry is organized to handle that problem. Psychiatrists have been open-minded about Dianetics for quite a while, but recently I was over at the state institution in St. Louis and the chief of the institution was running a young lady. I pitched in and gave him a hand. She had been schizophrenic for a number of years and she lay down on the couch insane; we worked on her for about two hours, hit the key engram in the case and she got off the couch sane. So the psychiatrists are no longer open-minded at Missouri State.” — L. Ron Hubbard, August 10, 1950

Their accounts are that the government was run by an Artificial Intelligence Computer created by a North American tribe with ET connections. So, apparently the independent field and Ron’s Orgs should be working on verifying this data and incorporate computers into management. Computers have already been incorporated into Scientology Tech anyway. The fact remains that the world government of this planet is going to have a computerized management system. Better it be run by Scientologists than wogs.”
