When a Scientology ‘body-router’ turns out to be the father you haven’t seen in 7 years

Well, we didn’t see this coming. On Sunday we published a set of professional-looking photos that were offered to us by one of our readers, who wished to remain anonymous. He had taken the photos outside of a metro station in Los Angeles, where a number of Scientology staff members were handing out literature.

Known in Scientology jargon as “body routers,” the staffers were trying to find passersby who might be convinced to come to the Los Angeles Ideal Org and view a Scientology movie or take a personality test. It’s one of the things that Scientology has always done, work sidewalks looking for the next set of raw recruits among the people walking by.

We liked the photos because they were so nicely shot and captured some interesting facial expressions. One man in particular had a face that spoke to us. Despite the dark shock of hair on his head, he looked older, especially next to the young staffer next to him. He seemed past the sell-date for a low-level staff member who might be out body routing. But he had an interesting face. Like the others, we wondered who he was.

And then, yesterday, we found out just who he was, and it came as something of a surprise.

His name is Irving Sorrentini, and he is the father of a former Scientologist we know quite well.

We’ve written numerous stories that featured Jamie Sorrentini Lugli, a luminously beautiful woman who lives in Los Angeles and works as an actress. Her father-in-law, Claudio Lugli, emailed us from Italy yesterday morning with the news that our tipster’s photograph had, in fact, captured Jamie’s father Irving.

Jamie was stunned when she heard the news from us. She spent yesterday afternoon with her daughter Veda, 6, driving around looking for Irving in the places where Scientology body-routers might be stationed.

Jamie tells us that Veda kept asking if this man or that man was the one they were looking for. Veda couldn’t be sure, because she’s never seen her grandfather, who disconnected from his daughter before Veda was born.

Irving and Jamie’s sister Tracie disconnected from Jamie in 2010 for the most Scientological of reasons: By then, Jamie, who had once been a very dedicated church member, had developed doubts.

Jamie tells us that her father is from Puerto Rico, and he was already involved in Scientology when he got married and moved to New York, where he went on staff in the 1970s. Jamie says she was born into a Scientology household, but it was never forced on her growing up as her parents left staff and then their participation in the church varied. By the time Jamie was a student at NYU in the early 2000s, her father was back on course, and he encouraged her to get involved as well. But it wasn’t until she had moved to Los Angeles in 2003 that she finally became a dedicated Scientologist herself.

She met her husband, Tiziano Lugli, at the Hollywood Celebrity Centre. But by the time of their wedding, in September 2009, Jamie and her in-laws, Claudio and Renata Lugli, who had been tailors to Scientology leader David Miscavige and his wife Shelly, had begun to go through a crisis of faith.

Her father flew out for the wedding in Capri, but Jamie says he was already distant as he seemed to sense that his daughter and the Luglis were pulling away from Scientology.

Jamie and her father in Italy for her 2009 wedding.

“My dad came to the wedding, but he was very distant from me. And that was when Claudio and Renata had been reading online and were pushing us that there was something wrong in the church,” she says.

A couple of weeks earlier, in Los Angeles, Jamie and Tiziano had held another ceremony — they were married on Ducati motorcycles, officiated by their friend Richie Acunto, which we’ve mentioned in an earlier story.

But just a few months after their two ceremonies, their doubts about the church had grown to such an extent that in December they flew to Texas to meet with Mark “Marty” Rathbun, a former top church official who had by then become Scientology’s most visible critic. Visiting Rathbun, whose house was under constant surveillance by Scientology spies, meant that Jamie was now labeled an enemy of the church.

On January 20, 2010, her father called her from Florida, where he was living in an apartment at Scientology’s spiritual “mecca,” the Flag Land Base.

He admitted to her that he was calling from the Office of Special Affairs, Scientology’s intelligence wing, and he had been told about his daughter’s visit with Rathbun.

“Jamie, you publicly told people that you didn’t want to be in Scientology anymore,” Irving told his daughter in the phone conversation, which Jamie recorded. “You decided to go to Marty, without saying anything to me or discussing it with me. You know I’m over here moving up the Bridge — I want to go all the way up the Bridge. And I don’t want to compromise that for any reason.”

“So what, are you calling me to disconnect? Is that what this phone call is?” she asked.

It was the last conversation she had with him. Later that year, in the summer of 2010, she had a chance to drive by his apartment building when she was in town at a gathering organized by Mike Rinder and his now wife, Christie Collbran. With another former church member, Jamie drove by and spotted her dad. When she tried to talk to him, however, he ran away from her.

“He told the security guard to call the police, that I was trespassing,” she says. It was the last she saw of him.

Since then, she gave birth to Veda, who her father and sister Tracie have never laid eyes on. Jamie has often wondered about her father and how he’s doing. He divorced in 2012, and Jamie had heard that he had fallen on some hard times and was working menial jobs several years after he had been a vice president at a commercial real estate firm. “All he wants to do is Scientology. All he ever wanted was to be on the Bridge all the time, so if he could join staff or the Sea Org and have no other job, he would,” she says.

Jamie tells us that in a writing project, she had recently been thinking about a fictional version of what she’d been through. In the story she was writing, she imagined herself one day running into her father, who had joined staff at a Scientology org and was on the street in his uniform. She was working on imagining what she would say to him.

“I can’t believe that it’s actually turned out like that in real life,” she says, sounding astonished. She looked for her father in several different places with her daughter yesterday, but didn’t see him.

In the photograph, Irving, 68, is wearing a staff member’s (non-Sea Org) uniform, as someone who might be working in a Scientology “Ideal Org.” Jamie checked with Mike Rinder, who told her that Irving might be getting trained on body routing by the Los Angeles Ideal Org as an “outer org trainee.”

“They bring staff from the other Ideal Orgs to the LA Org, which is the model Ideal Org,” Rinder tells us. “They train them on body routing and then send them back. He might be there from the Valley org, or Tampa, or New York, who knows.”

Last night, we called the Los Angeles Ideal Org and reached a very helpful church operator who told us she didn’t have a record of Irving Sorrentini, but if he was an outer org trainee from a local org — such as Valley — he wouldn’t be on her roster. “If he’s local, then he’d just go home at the end of the day,” she told us. She then gave us the phone number for the newly opened San Fernando Valley Ideal Org.

We called the number, and when we asked the operator there for Irving Sorrentini, she said, “He’s not here right now.”

Bingo.

The operator then took our name and phone number, saying she would get it to Irving.

We told Jamie that our asking about him and giving our name meant that the church would be on high alert, and we were afraid that it might make it tougher for her to find him body-routing on the street.

But she told us she didn’t mind. She was glad to find out that he was on staff at the Valley org, just a few miles away from where she herself lives. But she admitted that seeing her father in the uniform also hit her hard.

“Honestly, my heart is breaking. I feel like there’s no hope now. His eyes look so sad in that picture. That’s not the guy he was,” she says.

After looking for him yesterday, Jamie says her daughter Veda could see how it was affecting her.

She said, “Mom, I know you’re really sad right now. But just pretend that Irving is here with you.”

We’re glad that Jamie is benefiting from the wisdom of her 6-year-old daughter, even as she continues to miss her Scientologist dad.

Hey Tony talked to my kid about the deindex problem, he thought that the way to go is to inquire about it though the ad sense you use. Seeing as you help them sell stuff they might be able to give you an answer or maybe they will just stammer a lot, hope it helps. Happy Birthday!

What a wonderful young girl Veda is, giving her mom comfort and love during a hard time, as the two of them looked for Irving. This is family. She’s six years old and full of love and understanding. Jamie and Veda, thank you for touching so many hearts. Today is the day that my grandson turns 9 years old. He and his brother asked me to please say hello to Veda. They know how it feels to have an absent dad who doesn’t connect with them very much. Veda and Jamie, we’re sending you HUGS.

Happy Birthday Tony, and thank you!

O/T, but not very: Just got my copy of the latest The Auditor mag (Vol. 53. Issue 1) from the cult, so it’s time to do a little math here and hold the cult’s fallacious feet to the fire regarding the reverse-motion trend that the planetary clearing project is currently experiencing!

On pages 13 and 14 we’re treated to a long list of the Clears that have been made since, umm…well, it’s impossible to tell exactly how long of period this list covers because that’s not mentioned at all.

Never mind all that, though, what we do know is that by their own (often completely bogus and implausibly inflated) claim there has been a total of 67, 236 clears made. Whether that total was arrived at by counting every single person who ever attested, or just the ones that lil davey has sent back through the process in order to ensure that they really were clear, is also undetermined.

Whatever, let’s just use their figures here and give the cult the benefit of the doubt which it hasn’t earned. And let’s not even subtract the number of folks who’ve died or the ones who’ve had their clear cert cancelled for this or that $cn crime either…we’ll just give them their claimed total, even though the accurate count would be sure to be less.

Here’s a handy dandy real-time population growth site that should give us the needed perspective on just how well $cn is doing in accomplishing the star-high goal of planetary clearing, check it out here http://www.worldometers.info/

Take a look at that “net population growth today” running total and, OMFG, it’s already past 110,000, just for the day so far! That means that by the end of the day there will have been a net population increase of more than double the number of clears that have been created in all the time that $cn has been keeping track!

In other words, planetary clearing is not progressing at all; instead, it’s getting further and further away with each passing day! Thus, as the planet’s net population continues to grow at its present rate, the cult would need to be creating over 100,000 clears per day just to keep up, which is just not going to happen at any point in the foreseeable future either.

The Co$ has no confront at all on their actual condition of existence, which has to be either Treason or Non-Existence. Why can’t the cult face the objective facts here and own their shit instead of acting as if everyone is too stupid to do the very simple math that I just did? Why would cult leaders continue to put out such blatantly false propaganda? Who could have done such a suppressive act, and more importantly, why is this lie continuing to be told!? Why are there no inquiring minds within the cult who are willing to face reality and confront the truth?

    • OTVIIIisGrrr8!

Scientology Stat #1 is money and not Clears. This is so because Scientology must HAVE more money before it can DO what it takes to BE Clear. Whereupon, Scientology’s new stable datum is “Not-Isness is Theta.”

In related news, the new scents of buttstank, entheta, and SP have been added to the scent perceptic unit of the Super Power Rundown. Scientologists doing the Super Power Rundown will now have a 100% certainty and knowingness of these horrific scents that we in RTC and OSA are drenched in all day everyday 24/7/365. We have too long borne this burden alone and now theetie-wheetie publics must help us bear this burden.

      • Harpoona Frittata

Thanks for sharing that important insight! Obviously, I’m out of touch with the current reality of $cn. Could you please tell me where and when I need to report for re-grooving?

I realize now that if I can just get the gang bang sec checking help that I so obviously need that my respect and appreciation for CoB will once again wash over me like a Golden Shower from the Gods!

        • OTVIIIisGrrr8!

Finally. Our first recovery of a Scientologist on the Bunker. Your first action before you can even begin A-E is the new Underground Bunker Repair Rundown.

The Underground Bunker Repair Rundown: All people formerly involved in the practices of a suppressive group called “The Underground Bunker” have been found to need case repair. This rundown corrects any damage caused by the Bunker’s practices so that it does not hinder any future spiritual progress in Dianetics and Scientology training

If you criminally participated in the Underground Bunker or any other suppressive fora such as ESMB, this rundown can repair any damage done by these off-beat
          activities.

The Underground Bunker contained just enough truth “borrowed” from bitter defrocked apostates to get a case into restimulation — and then left it in that state without any means to repair it. This rundown undoes the damage and removes any stops so you can get everything Scientology has to offer.

This rundown begins with a full write up of one’s crimes and a full video debrief to OSA. The sec checks then begin and last, on average, for 30-75 days.

          • Mick Roberts

Wait….we were suppose to do A-E? DAMNIT!!! I thought you said to do “A&E”, so I tuned in to that channel and started watching…..and this was the implant I received. And it gave me a bit of a…..”different” type of cognition…..

Is there still hope for my eternity sir?

          • Harpoona Frittata

Thanks! I’s just such a relief to know that there’s help and hope out there for us butter defrogged apostles.

To know that the whole agronimised furniture of every man, woman and child depends on who we do wrong, here and now, with and in $cn, yet to have done nothing to help enslave mankind since I left the cherch, has been a very heavy burden indeed!

            • April

OMG, I lost it at “butter defrogged apostles.” XD

          • chukicita

Hm. I’d rather be a bitter defrocked apostate than a sweet frocked slave.

          • Mockingbird

That’s from the EST repair rundown where Hubbard wrote about how other practices borrowed just enough “truth” from Scientology to get a case into restimulation but not any means to repair it !? The great thing is that reference is pure projection.

Hubbard plagiarized just enough from practices that gained interest in the past to draw people in but no true benefits or wisdom was ever used. Just enough fool’s gold to get them interested and to make Hubbard appear to hold some wisdom and because he plagiarized so much so often to appear to get his breakthroughs one after another incredibly rapidly, establishing his genius to true believers.

Time to put on your OT underpants and deal with it sweetcheeks. We in RTC are sick and tired of publics nattering about how hard it is to be Scientologist these days.

COB’s Technical Notes on the Underground Bunker Rundown Pilot: Several of these were given sessions by me. I found several noteworthy similarities about them: they were so low in tone it was almost impossible to get them to register on an old style Mathison let alone the new Quantum Mark VIII, their cases were utterly bogged, they generally made a practice of refusing any auditing, their general record with preclears was very poor, their own lives were running badly, they not only fought “past lives” as they called “whole track,” but they fought any technique evolved since the summer of 1950 or used later techniques poorly, they would not run any overt acts even in this lifetime, they needed, so far as their cases were concerned, the most careful auditing. I found two people not auditors, who objected violently to “past lives” and who were “wide-open” cases. Both were in the inaccessible band, both had unsavoury social records, both protested being audited in any incident of any kind. I concluded, therefore, that the relatively sane are capable of accepting evidence and the insane are not.

          Shoop required.

    • Kestrel

Let’s say they had 150 orgs. Each org would have to clear more than 666 people a day to keep up with the population change. Clearly (pun intended), that’s not happening by even the Cof$ measurement. I understand that missions can also get people to clear, but Pan’s Mission on Missions would suggest their contribution would be immaterial.

      • If Scientology did work, one or two auditors would create more and they would create more and the membership would grow exponentially – like vampires.

The fact is that, at no time during the 60-odd years of their existence, have they ever come close to that exponential growth curve – even at their height they only grew slowly and with great effort. Now they are evidently shrinking.

        • Noesis

It has been remarked several times (including by me) that if Scientology could deliver on its larger claims about the states of Clear and OT there would be lines of people around the block waiting for service at every Org on earth.

Instead, the church has to beg disinterested people (via body routers) on the street (much the same way that vagrants behave) just to come and watch a video for few moments.

All the fake Scientology PR in the world cannot change what people can easily see with their own eyes.

Scientology does not work and (generously assuming the church has 40,000 active members) 99.999995 percent of the world’s population knows that to be true.

EDIT to add: Scientologists are 0.00000533333 of the world’s 7.5 billion population. Lol.

          • I think the pitches used by vagrants and body routers could be be usefully combined.

“Would you like to learn your true potential with a free personality test..? No..? Then could you spare some change for a cup of tea?

      • Harpoona Frittata

Yep, and as you mention, that’s just to keep even with the net population growth. In order to begin to make some actual progress in clearing the planet they’d need to clear even more folks per day.

Depth of Cult Immersion Self-assessment Scale, question #6: When faced with extremely easy to verify claims made by cult leaders concerning the claimed “exponential progress toward planetary clearing,” do you a) sometimes do the simple math required to verify these claims b) never check the cult’s figures, no matter how whacked they’d seem to any normal person with half a brain c) umm, what’s “math”!!?, or d) write a KR on whoever had the audacity to question CoB and use “wog stats” in the first place?

        • Kestrel

          e) wonder why everybody else is booming and what you did to pull non-existence in.

          • Quite.

Every Scientologist thinks that theirs is the only org which is failing, and all the others are ‘booming empty.

Social psychologists call this phenomenon ‘pluralistic ignorance’, and it operates at all levels of Scientology – so many Scientologists get no benefit from their first courses, but hear all the success stories and think they are the odd one out. In fact, everyone else is thinking in the same way – all ‘faking it until they make it’.

            https://scicrit.wordpress.com/2014/05/07/understanding-the-scientology-mindset-pt-5-pluralistic-ignorance/

            • Mockingbird

It’s a great cult or abusive relationship tactic. A pimp for example brutally turns out a woman or child and tells her it is her fault, as if everyone else gets treated better when they are all abused. Was it Alice in Wonderland that had expressed it “Jam yesterday, jam tomorrow, jam everyday, but no jam today.” Which gets said every day.

In the abusive relationship a promise of perfection of self and group that never was and never can be is delivered through a false past and the falsest of futures. He controls the past controls the past , controls the future to paraphrase Orwell in 1984.

Hubbard and now Miscavige control the information Scientologists receive about the false past of Scientology and the false present of Scientology and the false future of Scientology. Milieu control is how Robert Jay Lifton described it and Scientology employs it.

Regarding the faking it to make it pluralistic ignorance is key. As is mystical manipulation. Scientology has redefined experiences people encounter in training, word clearing, doing drills and auditing so that Scientologists perceive normal mental and physiological reactions to certain experiences as proof of Hubbard’s knowledge and claims. He sets the frame in which all experiences are evaluated.

            • I think pluralistic ignorance is more something which emerges from any situation in which people do not communicate. This could be because they are embarrassed to speak up, or because (as in Scientology´s case) they are deliberately isolated.

For example, a US university decided to address a problem with serious binge drinking among its students. When they were sensitively interviewed most revealed that didńt really enjoy drinking to excess, but thought it was expected of them by the culture of the university.

Only a minority wanted to drink too much, but almost everyone thought everyone else expected it of them. The university had been trapped by a self-perpetuating reputation. Nobody wanted this to happen. It wasn´t planned. It just emerged from the situation.

There is a lot about Scientology controlling behaviour that Hubbard didnt even understand. It emerged from an isolated controlling situation. All Hubbard did was keep doing something that worked without knowing why.

            • Mockingbird

Isolation aka milieu control to Lifton or information control to Hassan is a factor and in Scientology a huge one. Many, many other factors are relevant too. In group bias and out group bias and all the ideas from Cialdini’s book Influence as well as all eight criteria for thought reform and many others come into play.

If someone undertook a huge project to cross reference Hubbard’s ideas and practices against the eight criteria and Cialdini’s list and Festinger’s book A Theory Of Cognitive Dissonance and several other references on influence the methods Hubbard tried would at times intersect with other practices, some available at his time and others after he created Dianetics and Scientology (well plagiarized really) – for those uncomfortable with hypnosis the techniques of induction via repetition, paradox (aka contradiction aka confusion), mimicry, attention fixation (and overwhelm and division), and vivid images and stories all have parallel elements in rhetoric and cognitive dissonance theory and neuroscience and psychology.

Hubbard certainly didn’t understand all those subjects. But schools of persuasion used methods that had some degree of success, despite not knowing why, which Hubbard attempted to duplicate.

It’s worth noting that Scientology is effective at persuading people a very tiny percentage of the time but with the people it does persuade the longer they are in, and more they are indoctrinated the more effective the persuasion is. Really at somewhere around the five-year mark and several hundred hours of indoctrination point people are usually extremely influenced by Scientology if they are deeply immersed at some point.

I have noted some public that never join the Sea Org or staff and are accepted as often away like famous actors and artists often are able to leave Scientology but have always had greater independence than most Scientologists. Scientology will accept a six month or longer break by an actor working on a movie or a musician on tour. Particularly if they come back with a fortune to donate.

I would advise everyone who receives any of this printed crap to hold on to it just in case something needs to be presented in COURT.

Forty years ago I got my clear #. Per my calculations with the number stated above, they have managed to “make” 1,513 per year for 40 yrs. That’s pretty grim. Yeah, they’re on the way to clearing the planet.

    • ha ha… Could be fun to make a Mod out of Wolfenstein or Doom with those characters

    • WhiteCentauress

What if his daughter sees that?

      • I’d hope she would see it in the intended spirit. It’s not meant as a joke. The only prison Irving Sorrentini’s in is of his own making.

        • WhiteCentauress

It’s just all so sad. I keep thinking of her daughter and how that must feel. I wonder what they tell her.

          • chukicita

I know. I feel bad about making a joke about him yesterday. It does us all well to remember every person in a SO or staff uniform is somebody’s child or parent or sibling or loved one.

Has anyone started the clock on how soon we will see VMs in Manchester, handing out TWTH and stealing supplies from honest reaponders?

    • Ann B Watson

In my sadness & horror concerning the Manchester Tragedy I had forgotten the Yellow Racket may yet appear to do some volunteering. Thank you Chee.💛

    • On July the 7th 2005, there was an attack in London which killed 52 and left many more physically injured and traumatised.

The VMs were there too – but were infiltrated by an undercover journalist from BBC radio, who recorded them explicitly boasting that they were preventing people seeing therapists (AKA ‘psychs’) and bringing them to Scientology instead. It can be heard and downloaded here: https://scicrit.wordpress.com/2014/11/11/mind-games-scientology-verses-psychiatry-from-bbc-radio-five-live/

The programme included a recorded ‘discussion’ between a cult critic, a psychiatrist and a spokesperson for the CofS – whose ranting was completely counter-productive.

I don’t doubt that VMs would have been there if they were organised enough to find the T-shirts in time, and don’t quite trust myself to describe what I feel about people who exploit such extreme suffering.

Chances are, Orgs are also setting themselves up as ‘therapy centres’ offering an ‘effective remedy’ for trauma, too. It is all contemptible beyond words.

      • chukicita

Thanks for this! I had heard of this but never got to hear the audio.

    • Supper Powers

That appeal to be on the show wasn’t super awesome.

      • flyonthewall
      • mandymarie20

He has been begging hard. Desperation never smells great. Just wait for the call. I think perhaps as an actor, he might not have the common touch family background Leah and Mike are looking for right now. Perhaps in a future season?

        • Supper Powers

It may be a generational difference, too. Social media has affected what we say and do in public in ways that shock me.

          • mandymarie20

People certainly don’t hold back any more. I can see how asking once might be ok, try to get your story out. But asking in several arenas, not about people seeing your story, but Leah specifically publicizing his story, is what seems a bit too much. I’m sure Leah and Co are aware of his work. He’s not obscure. If they want him on the show, they’ll ask. Right now they do seem to be dealing with those out a while. I can’t imagine they won’t start talking to the recently out and/or the younger generation. In order to make the show work, it must be an unusually compelling story, worth an hour of tv, that sticks out from other stories. With each show, she focused on a specific and different abuse with each person. It has to be good or the public will dismiss the show. If this is a multi-season show, I’m sure she’ll get to him.

      Of course he does.

Caved In Weakling Scientologists Engaging in Deindexing Stories from Google

    https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e936d22b98f34c9796d185234c130a6e5456c730f3122e6365859fc80a237ceb.png

It has been brought to our attention in RTC that Scientology OT’s are having articles about their involvement in Scientology deindexed (removed) from Google. This is a very BAD INDICATOR that means two things:

    1. These theetie-wheetie dilettante Scientologists have no confront and are ashamed of being publicly identified as Scientologists. This is why they use attorneys to demand that Google deindex articles in which they are identified as Scientologists. COB has confront. He never has Black PR or entheta articles about him deindexed from Google. So why do these publics? Why are their necks so precious?

    2. Scientologists who have had Google deindex articles are at -8.0 on the Tone Scale as they have gone into hiding. Their downward spiral continued to -10.0 where they have become objects, specifically they have become their IAS trophies. Predictively, they will next become -20.0 which is nothing.

We in RTC think less of the Bob Duggan’s of the world who get caved in by articles about them being
Scientologists and thus engage in deindexing rather than standing up and confronting the Isness of, say, having shipped one’s kids off to Scientology Africa in exchange for a large donation to the Ideal Org in Jo’burg.

We in RTC order problem Sea Org members shipped all over the world into miserable hellholes, Class 5 Orgs, body routing, and even into the RPF. This movement of problem people is neither an overt nor a sordid subject. This is what we want Scientologists Simone Hafenmeyer, Dennis Romeiser, and Simone Lorenzen of Germany to know.

That’s a lot to read, Gr8 one, but read it I did, only because I respect your devout scientology-ism.

If you’re among the worried well and talking to a peer while holding a couple of cans and 1/3 of a lie detector, then more power to you. Just don’t make claims you can’t produce. And definitely don’t discourage people from seeking scientifically proven medical and psychiatric help from real doctors.

    • Supper Powers

His face looks kind of normal here.

      • mandymarie20

Could’ve been much worse. They’ve probably working hard on it since he has premieres everywhere for ‘The Mummy’ the next few weeks.

        • Supper Powers

His face has been jacked up for nearly two years. It’s not like nobody noticed. Here, it looks like the fillers etc finally faded.

          • mandymarie20

I didn’t mean they were plumping him up, I meant they probably have been working hard with massages, Preparation H, witch hazel, makeup, other tricks to try to get it looking more normal. And who knows? Maybe they actually listened to the criticism and decided to age with grace. As I said below, many men look better with age.

    • flyonthewall
    • Sherbet

He’s in Australia? Send in Bryan Seymour for an interview, stat.

    • Harpoona Frittata

Don’t tell me, TC is either going to play the flight instructor daddy to a new generation of potential top guns (with a women or two under his tutelage and perhaps more…off set, of course) or his son is now in the mix and daddy cruise has to intervene repeatedly to put ethics in hard on the lad who may or may not be gay, but who is clearly troubled, just to keep him in the front seat or from (gasp) maybe even washing out completely.

Both possible plots climax with Tom and/or his sexual orientation-confused son deciding that while fulfilling their duty to their country they each need to keep it in their pants in order to truly fly right and serve our country 😉 Either way, the story line will be all lathered up with patriotic fervor and could feature a cameo appearance by lil davey in a bit role as a real boy…not to be missed!

      • Sherbet

You had me nodding in agreement until you slipped Dave into the cameo.

        • Harpoona Frittata

I just tossed him in for comedic relief. In reality, lil davey is never going to get to be a real boy…not on stage, not in real life, not ever!

          • Sherbet

But like Pinocchio, who wanted to be a real boy, Dave has the lying thing down pat.

    • With more gay undertones, or less?

  • What a sad story about Jamie’s dad. Jamie looks so stunningly beautiful in her 2009 wedding picture ~ and that was before her brave departure. I hope she is more hopeful with the A&E series and the voices on her side out here. I hope it helps balance the pain of the disconnection.
Tony and ya all here caring. Look around at how many are speaking out now many for the first time. Let the flood gates flood. I can’t wait for the day my children call me up to re-unite. Then when they are working to get out themselves, I will have my journal ready, it may help them. I wasn’t born in and it’s been hell and heaven getting out from under that trap. It will hurt to see them have to go thru it even worse since I brought them both into the Sea Org – My son#2 was 2.5 and my daughter#3 was born there 6 years later. I had two in-between and they are with me thank goodness for that! (((Hugs all)))
Late tonight I’ll try to jot down some notes about the crevasse I fell in for Mom’s day and how I got out.
    OOOOOs for Jamie ~

Make sure you get some quality rest in a cooler location. Pshew!!

        • Well I don’t have that option. I get chores done by noon and sit very still till 6. MUCH better then at AOLA with no A/C (except in the reg offices). I used to keep my feet in a bucket of cool water and now and then go lay flat on the bathroom floor which stayed nice and cool. Public and staff just came in and walked around me and understood my short explanation … I’m from ALASKA where the record high is 78. Those were the days and it’s beginning to even out – the good and the bad.

That is a quandary. It is about Tom Cruise (so it is probably pretty whack) But it is IN The Daily Mail (usually pretty stuupid-off-false- and yes, whack) So do they cancel each other out; or enhance one another; or open the portal into the fourth dimension?

    • WhiteCentauress

      Maybe it’s a hairpiece.

      • Puget Buckeye

Then he could just take it off and the staff could take the hairpiece in the other room. That would be private, wouldn’t it?

        • WhiteCentauress

He would not want anyone to know, is my guess. He’s “Tom Cruise”.

          • Puget Buckeye

I understand. I was being silly.

    • Harpoona Frittata

Of course, why stir up those scalp and follicle BTs unless you’re prepared to whip out your e-meter and audit the little buggers? Just makes perfect scientological sense to me!

    • JJ

That image is everything here that I get, fear of damage to aging hair follicles even, that would maybe makes sense, but the privacy thing? Don’t touch my hair unless we are in private? Will something bad happen? It can’t be a toupee. Skin rash, ticklish spot and he’ll squeal if you touch his head? Fear of being contaminated by wogs and need to prepare himself mentally/psychically/Scientologically before any damn dirty wogs touch his uber Clear self? What if he is so super powered he has to tone down his energy or risk electrocuting innocent-unsaved people? Like that Oprah thing.
Still have yet to figure out the touchiness over image. If t was just the legitimate legal and financial issue that I’d get. It is almost like he fears something or someone creating an (unauthorized) image of him. I guess when all you have is IMAGE you are apt to be pretty touchy about it. What if they touched his head and the face mask fell off and there was nothing there? Fear of Voodoo dolls? It can’t be the old “camera steeling the soul” issue, there are more pictures of him on the planet than Micky Mouse, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis put together by now.
I’m seriously thinking Tom should have done Scientology till he got to pretty damn clear and then backed away.

      • Puget Buckeye

“mask fell of and there was nothing there”! Maybe if his mask fell off, it would be a clam face there. Or he secretly had plastic surgery to look more like DM or LRH. Or….the possibilities are endless. I’ll stop now.

  • Jenyfurrrrr

    Jamie,
I want to reach out & hug you after reading this. I’ve had to “disconnect” at times from a mentally ill parent who’s been emotionally abusive. That pain, especially when someone you love turns into someone else, cuts deeply.

What I’ve dealt with seems easier because it occurs up after big, emotional blowouts/breakdowns when medication isn’t taken or manipulation/lies ruin trust. But I’ve never had to worry about others deciding arbitrarily whether we could be a family or not (on the contrary, usually friends/practitioners encourage getting healthy again to heal the family)!

What stood out so clearly was what a sweet, loving, PERCEPTIVE and sympathetic little girl you both are raising! She’s everything CO$ tries to stifle – you should be so proud!

He’s missing out & I pray he sees the love & life you’re surrounded by, compared to the literally empty facades and people he’s “allowed” in his life – and then chooses family. There’s a special bond between parent and child that no fake religion can ever completely quell!

    • iampissed

Just Google Tony ‘s name and you will find tons. Tonyortega dot com aka undergroundbunker dot org appears to be a hate site. I kept forgetting our bunker was a Tony .org. it’s a sort of copy of this site’s design, but with posts saying things like Tony is obsessed with blogging (we like that he is prolific) or he’s obsessed with writing about sex aka he reported about the Anthony Weiner story. Long and short, the big problem seems to be he’s a good journalist who reports the news and gives stories to his fans. How terrible.

Today’s post hit me hard. As soon as I read that Jamie got into her car with her daughter and started looking for her father, I lost it. I immediately pictured what it would feel like to be looking for my own Dad if he’d ever been so cruel to cut me out of his life for some bullshit religious scam. I had tears in my eyes and had to stop reading.

Excuse my French — but fuck you, LRH. And fuck you, Miscavige. You’re both miserable piles of shit for destroying families. What goes around, comes around. Miscavige will get his due.

    • Puget Buckeye

I think your French is just fine. And very appropriate. I’m a strong believer in karma. What goes around, comes around. Those injured by LRH, DM and this stupid cult may not be there to witness their comeuppance, but I have faith that somehow, somewhere, the evil ones will also experience unspeakable heartache.

      • Sherbet

Karma is taking its own sweet time, though. Hurry up, comeuppance.

      • Mick Roberts

“I think your French is just fine. And very appropriate.”

That Aftermath preview that just aired on A&E for the Memorial Day special was neat. It’s awesome that Leah has Mike with her. He brings so much knowledge and experience with him to add to the discussions….and provides very good insight into the internal machinations of this organization. Can’t wait to see the full 2-hour special.

That TV reporter sure looked uncomfortable when she found out that everything she was doing was being “watched”. Mike is an eloquent speaker, and he and Leah brought it all together! I can’t wait to see Monday’s show!

Yeah, that was Janet Reitman, who wrote an excellent book called “Inside Scientology” (hence, the reason they were keeping tabs on her). I highly recommend reading it.

Happy Birthday Tony! If there was a party I missed it-
Crazy day started with lock-down of schools and auto-calls to stay indoors and helicopters overhead because two men were in the area after pulling up to a local business and shooting someone. The middle part was unexpected out of town company (and emergency cleaning!) a crashed business computer, and a teenager on exam week suffering existential angst. At dinner with out of town company, we rounded out the day with a tornado warning, green skies, scary wind, 4 inches of rain and electricity going out at the restaurant where we were eating.
Needling in the back of my mind through it all was “I really need to wish Tony a Happy Birthday” –
    HAPPY BIRTHDAY TONY !!
If birthdays are a time for reflection, I hope you are filled with pride. The first time I met you, I tried to explain how impactful this place is – in ways you may not even imagine. Today’s post is a good example, but just one of many. Thank you and I can’t wait for what unfolds next.
I’d buy you a drink if I could! I hope your day was fun and family!

    • Puget Buckeye

Holy cow! Sounds like you needed a soft place to land! And your lovely words were worth the wait. I hope tomorrow brings you electricity turned back on, no student angst, no lock downs, and appreciative guests. Oh, and blue sky. Lots and lots of blue sky.

      • TexasBroad

All is well now…except for the teenager, which might take a few years.

Heartbreaking -> This family of Irving Sorrentini, Jamie Sorrentini, and Jamie’s daughter Veda has been so utterly corrupted by the scourge of scientology. To think this family have lost so much precious time together because of the disconnection antics of those slimy little hiccups of humanity LRH and David Miscavige. What a vile disgusting organization. And to think some fools actually defend it.

        HaaaaaaaaaaaHaaaaaaa….

        • EmmaDaoust

          There’s a series…

          • WhiteCentauress

I used to love squirrel videos, no joke. I had one that I showed my class every year about how they broke most squirrel deterrents put up around bird feeders. It featured one squirrel who climbed up in a vending machine and came out with a Snicker’s Bar.

            • EmmaDaoust

Have you seen the mission impossible one?

            • WhiteCentauress

I watched the plane video. The squirrel must have had a seatbelt in both the drone and the plane shots. There’s not enough centrifugal force to hold him in. It was fun, but I’m on my way to bed. Two minutes until midnight here….

            • EmmaDaoust

I wondered about that, but looking carefully, I see it’s all clever special effects. 🙂 The squirrel isn’t in the plane or drone (there’s also a rocket in the series).

              Here’s the mission impossible squirrel:
              https://youtu.be/DsuVLsDyln4

            • WhiteCentauress

That’s part of the one I used to show the kids. It took him about two weeks to learn the course. This bit was the grand finale. I haven’t seen that in years! Thanks. Love it.

            • EmmaDaoust

I know, it cracks me up every time I see it. A great tonic! The music is perfect.

          It’s one in a series…

Too bad he couldn’t do a fly over “run down” on you know who, now THAT would be really funny!

And I keep thinking of the reason for all this disconnection and heartache….

      That’s creepy.

      • WhiteCentauress

The same face is used for the top and bottom part. I just doubled the image and then erased the top and bottom 2/3’s. His smile doesn’t reach his eyes. He is what makes it creepy.

        • Puget Buckeye

It looks like a poster for a horror movie. Oh wait, it is!

          • WhiteCentauress

            In several ways, right?

            • Puget Buckeye

Past, present and hopefully, not too far into the future.

O/T but this was funny…watching the season finale of ‘The Voice’ right now and they did a cute skit about Blake Shelton ‘going Hollywood’…and he showed his own brochure for “The Church of Sheltonogy”…also known as the Church of ‘BS’…here’s a screen shot! HA!

What did I say about the other day about them becoming a punch line? More and more people are becoming aware of them and what they’re about. They are becoming a laughing stock. No wonder the numbers are dwindling. The avalanche is gaining speed.

    • Ruby

      I saw that too!

      • FredEX2

Ruby, your name reminds me of an angelfish I used to know 😉

  • Puget Buckeye

O/T Has anyone been watching American Epic on PBS? It’s about music in American-blues, gospel. It’s pretty cool.

    • mandymarie20

I have. It’s quite good. I love shows about the history of music.

    • Glen

I, too, have been watching it. Loved the first episode with the Carter Family and the Memphis Jug Band. Charlie Musselwhite, who talks about Memphis and Will Shade of the Memphis Jug Band moved from Memphis to Chicago where he emerged as a great harmonica player. He is so authentic, passionate and skilled. He now lives close to me in northern California.

I am very music oriented and love this stuff. There are some other great documentaries that cover some of this ground. American Roots Music by Jim Brown was fabulous. The Winding Stream is a wonderful documentary about the Carter Family. This Ain’t No Mouse Music follows Chris Strachwitz of Arhoolie Records over his vast life of finding and presenting some of the best of roots music.

      • ReallyMGM

A good little site on the Memphis Jug Band. Some other interesting musicians too. I think a few of them might be on that show, or should be.

And one Scientologist so it is sort of on topic!

            • Glen

              You lost me there. $cientologist?

            • ReallyMGM

Issac Hayes is one of the people inducted into the MMHOF and has a page.

            • Glen

              Ah, got it.

    • ReallyMGM

Thx. This looks like an amazing program.

My PBS station plays the music programs between 2-4 am Sundays, so everything is obviously recorded or watched OnDemand.

“East Grinstead Town Council… expressed disappointment the church was only seeking consent after the work had been done, saying it was “well versed in the planning process”….. [local resident] Benjamin Leake…. said: “It is a coach park in a residential area, an AONB [Area of Natural Beauty], a peaceful hamlet and a Grade II listed building. You cannot just put a coach park in the middle of it. There is an existing coach park three or four minutes away so they are needlessly destroying an AONB and needlessly upsetting a community.” “

Jamie Sorrentini Lugli has a fascinating story. I love the videos she and her husband have made on Scientology and highly recommend them. Unfortunately despite her beauty and talent and the success of her husband Scientology has managed to hurt her as it has so many other people.

People whether average and of modest means or beautiful and successful get hurt by Scientology every day. I applaud the courage of Jamie Sorrentini Lugli and like Leah Remini she is a woman actress known for her extreme beauty that has a far more outstanding and admirable quality in her willingness to take a stand against Scientology despite the real personal cost of disconnection and fair game.

I hope someday, somehow all the people Scientology has torn apart can be reconnected and their relationships restored. It may be a naive and idealistic desire in this situation and world but frankly I don’t care – I still want it.

  • Well, I sorta promised a late update on my Mother’s day but I got VERY distracted. I breezed through this booklet today for giggles. It was published in 1983, 34 years ago, and I remember the time period well except of course even I, one of the superior ones on the planet at AOLA, did not know what was really going on behind the scene. For that I had to leave and read what Paulette Cooper, and the anti-S have so well documented.
    My narrow view:
    – David Mayo who was the Snr Case Supervisor International had recently blown
    – There was an amnesty releasing (called reprieve) some 200 Sea Org staff from the PAC RPF. [there was likely similar # at FSO].
    – In February 1983, I had became PG and daughter #2 was born October 10th only 9 days after my Dad passed away. From Fall 1982 until the Amnesty in the Summer 1983 I was on the PAC RPF and sometimes the RPFs RPF. The phone calls from my brother in Alaska attempting to reach me to tell me Dad was dying were all dead ended except for one which the WOG (Sylvester) who ran the boiler room passed on to me when I was on the RPFs RPF chipping 1930s paint. My brother was exasperated as he had made over 200 phone calls (at great expense as calls from Sitka Alaska were .60-1.20 for the 1st min.) until he reached me.
    – After I got off the RPF I make it up to Seattle where Dad was in the hospital. I was 6 months pregnant.
I wanted to go home to Sitka with my Dad because he had 3 months to live but he refused to let me. He told me “Your work is important, Go back to your work”. This made no sense me.
    – I found out a couple years ago from my brother that way back in the early 80s someone from the church had phoned my Dad and told him to leave me alone. My brother told me he was threatened but he did not know more detail. My brother also told me that early after I joined the SO in Hollywood November 1977, Dad was searching for a De-programmer.
    – Did Dad call CAN after it was taken over by Scientology and that’s how they knew? I have no idea yet nor do I know who phoned him and thus stopped the calls from him for all those years.
    – My Dad died of heartbreak. That I am sure of. He and I were extremely close spending all fishing and hunting seasons together since I was 6 and fitted for my first hiking boots. He took his sick days/Vacation time and holidays and we would be out in the hills for weeks at a time for 10 years after we finished building the Sitka Pearl. He was only 55.
Here is us building the boat.

So I scan through this booklet and the crap written is nothing less then propaganda to prevent the crew from turning IF they find out the truth. I can see it all so clearly now.

Well for some reason the icon to upload photos is not showing. It’s OK. It’s 1:41a and I still haven read Mike’s news.

As for Moms day ~ briefly I’ve fallen into the same quagmire off and on since my children disconnected 3.5yrs ago. I’m pretty sure scientology’s only scientifically provable product is broken hearts.
But (sounds of music and lots of tweeting birds) every time when it’s over I have more memory and more of MY mind back.
Thank you all for helping put an end to this.
I’ll edit an add photos when I refresh the page.

    • Juicer77

      (Picture of booklet?) 🙂

    • JustSheila

Oh wow, Tigger. That’s rough. What a heartbreaking story. I’m so sorry to hear about your dad and family. Hugs to you.

On a slightly brighter note,it was me who went back & forth to the PAC RPF to reprieve each RPFer. I was never sure if it was in 1982 or 1983 (you know how time gets away from you in the SO), but I wrote up all the details about it on this thread: http://www.forum.exscn.net/showthread.php?15745-The-Great-PAC-RPF-Reprieve-of-1982-My-Story I was personally there through every order, every reprieve, so this is a firsthand story.

In short, Kerry Gleeson reprieved all the PAC RPF on his own, with no coordination or approval from anyone and all of management hated him doing that, so it did not happen at Flag. He was Declared SP for it, too. (His SP Declare and Comm Ev are available online if you want to read them.)

I wish it would have gone better for you, but if it’s any consolation, nobody is ever prepared for the death of a parent or child and most people have regrets in that way, too. Most people have problems of some kind with their relationships with their children, too. Scientology just made it so, so much harder. You didn’t know. And you were a good SO mother, btw, as good as an Sea Org mother could possibly be, given the horrible rules and conditions we were forced to live with then.

PS: I remember Sylvester. He was a nice man and helped out quite a few RPF.

      • Thank you for the link. To put things in perspective. None of the above hurt much while (udl) in. It’s after the de-programming the real suppressed feelings do come back to be lived out and learned from. I guess that’s what I’m going thru. All starting with learning about Cognitive Dissonance which I’m still working on. Thanks for the back up darling. Hope all is well. (((Hugs)))

        • JustSheila

I know what you’re going through. Mother’s Day is extra tough; I haven’t seen my son on Mother’s Day in over 20 years. That’s how long we’ve been in other countries/places and it’s my fault for screwy scn thinking decades ago. It is what it is, though, and we do our best under the circumstances to rebuild/repair. Regardless of whether your children appreciate you or not, mothers are special and you loved and love them and should appreciate yourself for it. Sometimes its only mothers who can fully appreciate other mothers on Mother’s Day, so take heart. Talk to women more, sweetie. We get it. Love to you!

          • Thanks JS, I read the link. I think you have it correct. I was the Dissem Sec when Kerry came. I still have the 20 years of AOLA GI graph with stuff like that marked. W/E 1 Jul 82 GI spikes from 212K to 354K. I went to the RPF 15 Nov 82 while Dissem Sec for 2 months. ED Int came and Off-Loaded Eric Reinerson and I was meter checked by Phil Cristodolou with 3 or 4 others watching the meter and then sent because ???.
I get you about Moms day. I’m also in the midst of some studies and they seem to trigger memories I’d forgotten and have to work through and learn from. I did danger put in policies to hereafter keep a balance tehe. (kidding)
Amazing you haven’t seen AH in 20 years but perhaps he will be in a better mind to appreciate you when the time comes. I’d like to see him too.
I so appreciate your memories. Thanks for encouragement XOXO

            • JustSheila

You’re welcome. Chin up. The future is all we have and regrets take away from enjoying it,

Wow. You have the GI graphs! Including AOLA Reserves?

You misunderstood me. I see my son every few years and we had a wonderful time last summer. I just don’t ever seemm to see him on Mother’s Day, and very few Christmases or birthdays, either. So I know how lonely holidays can get. Hoping to see him this Christmas no matter what.

            • Yes, I’m enjoying life just fine. Now and then there are regrets when I first remember something long forgotten but that’s just till it’s reviewed and learned from. I’m studying a bunch of mind stuff and it opens closed doors – what can I say ? 🙂
I only have the AOLA GI graph for the years I worked on the reg/GI lines 21 Dec 78 to end 91 so 14 years. AOLA Reserves – what a joke. I think I’m the only one who ever put money into it after Al C left the lines.
Oh I’m glad you see your son! My daughter #1 visits a couple times a year and calls several times a week. And Sara – the #2 that I have had such a hard time with – 34 going on 14… well I am constantly surprised with how much the anti- XXXX psych meds are helping her.

  • ReallyMGM

Wonderfully written story, and very hard to read. I wrote something on the original body router story that said, the young ones still had a look of eagerness on their faces, but the older ones looked like they had lost all hope for anything good happening. For some reason I never hit “Post.” (I blame it on the dogs.)

With both photos of Irving in today’s story, it was more apparent. Irving looked full of hope at his gorgeous daughter’s wedding. In contrast, the person in the body router photos is a hollow shell of that man. Get out Irving, for Jamie and Veda. They need their dad and granddaddy.

  • Juicer77

Welcome, newbies and lurkers and under-the-radars. Today is a good day to pick up the phone and call that person you’ve been missing. Speaking of people we’ve been missing, here is a photo of AegerPrimo’s kitty Mr. Snuggly. Missing them both.

Where is Dodo? If you see him tell him thanks. I haven’t been able to stop listening to Massive Attack and now I have “Unfinished Sympathy” on a loop in my head. 😀

    • Very welcome.

      • NOLASlut (#ImWithMimi)

I freaking love that song. One of my good friends from my raving days was dating the DJ and he made me a remix of it, I so wish I still had it. Needless to say I was never not on the dance floor if it was playing. 😀

Are the streets of downtown Clearwater still void of CoS ppl?

  • MagicJesus

I ran across a body router near the Santa Ana org, and he was way older than Irving…
