In 2016, the A&E Network had filmed and edited an eight-episode series about Scientology that has never aired.
We have always been curious about this show produced by Sirens Media and the person who was meant to be its presenter and star, Jamie DeWolf. So, in this limited podcast series, we’re talking to some of the people who were involved in it.
Last week, we talked to Phil Jones about the episode that was going to feature him and his wife Willie as they attempted to see their two children in Scientology’s Sea Org.
Today, we’re talking to Derek Bloch about how the Sirens Media series tried to help him see his mother, who had not seen him for several years because of Scientology’s harsh disconnection policy.
We are producing this special series as a thank-you to our paid subscribers, who have been so generous to help us out with our new Substack experiment. If you’re not a paid subscriber, we still have other podcast episodes that you can listen to for free. All of the podcast episodes can be found here.

Technology Cocktail
“Directors of Processing must-must-must be alert for departures from standard level processing and stamp it out quickly. If they do not do so they will have case trouble. The Levels are designed for all cases from psycho to OT. It now does not matter what condition a case is in. You just start at the lowest process of the lowest level on all cases begun. Flatten that. Go to the next process of the level. Flatten that. When all processes of that level are flat the pc is examined and given a GRADE CERTIFICATE for the level completed and may go to the next level. And the first process of that level is flattened and so on….I am putting strong tools in your hands. Don’t play about with them. They might explode on you. Give them the respect they deserve and every case will come up bright and progress rapidly. Something new is here. Just follow the new map even dully and the pc will arrive. Louse it up and it will get awful.” – L. Ron Hubbard, 1965

“I’ve been working on a clear cut statement of what are the beliefs of Scientology. It will be under survey. I am working on the Scientologists Hat. Without such a statement it is hard to get word of mouth. We are well into a Messianic period on Earth. Progress has been made on this. I can write, I think, a ‘Book of Fate.’ I have also made an advance in research on the character and handling of mental mass. Some weeks ago I conceived we did not know all there was to know about high and lo TAs and have suddenly made big progress. The answer was unexpectedly simple and includes auditing over out suppressed ruds that one doesn’t suspect are out! We just don’t pay enough attention to it. Big answers are very basic. So I feel cheerful.” — L. Ron Hubbard, August 17, 1971

“US DOLLAR: The Socialist planning for crashed finance goes along apace. Nixon has just announced the forthcoming devaluation of the dollar. Means it will buy less. We are safe enough at the moment. But this rapid deterioration of the existing US cultural scene pushes us. We have to get Europe viable fast fast fast. That means translations more and faster. That means a beefed up EULO. A special action is needed for AF. UK needs picking up quickly.” — The Commodore, August 17, 1971

“Who cares about these newbies if they buy such things as Justin Craig? Scientology was for the intelligent, not for tweety sweeties.”

1996: Ted Mayett posted a picket report from his ongoing attempt to get an SP declare. “Janne would not even make eye contact for the first 30 minutes. I walk very close to the windows and usually look in at them. The day was completely uneventful until Laska came out to talk to me. We said a lot but basically I was talking to a wall. I was at a point where I was explaining that I would rather not destroy the church when Janne came out to get her for a phone call. She smiled and said ‘you can’t destroy the church.’ ‘My declare Laska, why don’t I have a declare?’ she stopped smiling. You’ll have one soon. ‘No L, it has been a year and no declare, why?’ By this time I am not smiling also and have been moving in on her. ‘Why not Laska, you know I got the refund, you know I picket’ ‘well you’ll get it’ ‘No Laska, not good enough, you know I place Xenu ads

“Hubbardese was definitely inspired by ‘Newspeak,’ in my opinion. All cults engage in it to some degree.”
