Is Scientology’s Ideal Org program on hold? It’s a theory based on the lack of an opening this year while the average is about seven. Scientologists are being told that all remaining orgs are being worked on “simultaneously.” If grand openings starring church leader David Miscavige are on hold, the rest of the program is still in full swing.
In December we reported that the fundraising goal was being met for an Ideal Org in Adelaide, South Australia. Last month they paid A$3.2 million for the former Messenger newspaper building. It’s in Port Adelaide, miles from the city’s center of Victoria Square.
A key tell that an Ideal Org project is coming to an end is the release of a leatherbound edition of Dianetics. The Austin org has been undergoing renovations to expand to the minimum ideal size of 50,000 square feet by adding a story to the building. This week they announced their Dianetics edition is being issued to fund a marketing campaign by Scientology Media Productions. SMP is a Sea Org Org located in the former KCET studios in Hollywood.
One Clearwater area Scientologist is so sure that the Kansas City Ideal Org is opening soon she is selling her house to join staff there.
The goal is to recruit 175 staff members before opening. There are other orgs that are approaching completion, such as Chicago, Ventura, Manchester and ODD in Mexico City. And yet we have seen no announced dates for a new Ideal Org to open its doors. In Scientology “soon” is an imprecise term ranging from days to a decade. We’ll be watching closely for any signs that the Ideal Org drought is ending.
