Scientology’s ‘Ideal Org’ in Pasadena, California is less ideal today after an intoxicated man broke the glass of its front door by kicking it on Friday evening.
According to Pasadena Now, Benjamin Patino, 40, was apparently drunk and disorderly when he tried to go into the building and was refused, so he kicked the door and damaged it.
Police arrested a man on suspicion of vandalism and a hate crime following a violent and apparently drunken outburst at the Church of Scientology in Pasadena on Friday evening, authorities said. The man showed up at the facility, 35 S. Raymond Ave., shortly before 7:40 p.m. and attempted to go inside but was approached by church staff, Pasadena police Lt. Anthony Burgess said. The man began making threats against the church and kicked a hole in the closed front door, according to the lieutenant.
Well, it’s been a while, but we’ve been here before.
We don’t know Patino and we don’t know why he got into an altercation with the Scientologists at the Pasadena Org. If he did kick the door, we don’t know if he actually meant harm to anyone or if he did it out of frustration.
We urge anyone reading this: If you have a beef of any kind against Scientology, do not go to a Scientology facility and try to take it out on the people there. The workers at an Ideal Org like the one in Pasadena are working for less than minimum wage and are as much victims of the policies of L. Ron Hubbard and David Miscavige as anyone.
The people who should be pushing in the doors of Scientology facilities are law enforcement investigators looking into the allegations of abuse in this organization, not random joes after downing a six pack.
That said, Mr. Patino will now discover that Scientology loves to pretend that its orgs are “places of worship” and will use the full extent of the law to make sure he is charged with a felony. We’ve certainly seen that before.
Also, Scientology will probably now come out with a new series of videos and articles blaming this “attack” on Leah Remini for “spreading hate” on her television series and now on her podcast.
It’s all so predictable.

2000: Tory Christman reported meeting a young Scientologist in Burbank, California. “A few weeks ago a family contacted the LMT and asked if someone, anyone could please help them talk to their child who had joined staff in Scientology. Since both Jesse and I were coming to LA anyways, we said sure. We brought some basic information for the person to read, and a few videos to watch. OSA intercepted the family in the parking lot and took the person. The father got this person and they all went into the reception to sit and talk. They sat on a couch in the lobby all crowded around each other, talking. I took a paper down to the father just to explain the essence of what we were going to do. I noticed 4 strategically posted Scientologists, one being the person who took over the Scientology Parishioners League I was asked to head up last October. He walked up to me and said ‘Tory HOW COULD YOU?’ I asked, ‘How could I what?’ He rattled off the party line of sleep deprivation, etc. I told him all we were going to do was show the person some information. Why couldn’t he look at both sides? He didn’t have an answer for that. Every time we would walk towards the family, a Scientologist would close in towards the family and say ‘Come with US’ the parents later told us ‘in a shockingly monotone voice’. Jesse alerted the hotel security that these people (the Scientologists) were not even guests of the hotel and they had lied and told the security earlier that this was their son. Security asked them to leave, they refused, so the police were called, I walked through the doors of the hotel, and there were 4 or 5 police cars, a helicopter hovering above and the OSA against the police car with their hands in cuffs, and the light from the helicopter shining down on them.”
