Tom Cummins is one of Scientology’s top donors, having given at least $32.5 million just to the IAS, the church’s defense fund. He’s also given millions more to the various “Ideal Org” projects that replace older churches with new ones, even though there’s no evidence that Scientology is growing.
On Thursday, the Underground Bunker carried the recap of the recent Eastern US Ideal Org fundraiser, and now we have the video. Cummins was the star, and in a 25-minute monologue laced with profanities he provided his analysis of the world situation and an incentive for Scientologists to donate.
But first we have a musical performance by Jierra Clark. Clark is an aspiring singer/songwriter who lip-synched her cover version of the song “This is Me” from the 2019 movie The Greatest Showman.
Next up was hostess Sara Baxter who described how she overcame her reluctance to participate in the Ideal Org program and helped open the San Francisco Ideal Org, which she says was the first one funded entirely from local publics. She has since moved to Flag, and is a leader of the Flag Alliance. She has reached the “Humanitarian” level of donations for dozens of Ideal Orgs.
But the star of the show was Tom Cummins, President and CEO of American Power and Gas, currently on vacation in Italy. He is tall, loud, and very angry about efforts to control the spread of the Coronavirus.
What do you call it when they take seven billion people and put them on pause. I don’t know what you think about it. I don’t want to offend too many people but I think it’s the biggest crock of shit. You know that they did what they did. This is the SPs move, guys. I mean yeah, there’s a virus, I’m not going to deny that. But what happens is what happens now is there’s premeditated murder of economy. There’s an element of trying to control a civilization, a group of people. I’m not freaked out that people would do something like that. That’s what SPs do, right? It’s what they got away with. How all the media, I mean all. I think Sweden told them to go piss off, the people in Bulgaria, I heard, I have some of these countries wrong. The guy said piss off. Japan said yeah, we’re not going to play. But the other 98 percent of the population said yeah we’re in, we’re going to let you lead us around with the ear here. That’s the part I said oh my God, ‘cause I told them to piss off. I mean I ran towards the fire. When Italy was the reddest of all red zones I go, I’m not PTS. This is not going to affect me. I’m going to be fine. No doubt about it I’m going to be fine. And I’m fine.
The problem we have is not enough sane, rational people who can evaluate data without being reactive. Yeah we need to take care of our health, yeah we need to do all this stuff. That’s part of being rational, right? But to shut down a world? That’s suppression. And the problem is, assuming you agree with me, is that there’s not enough of us. This so-called silent majority I hear about in the United States, how about shout the fuck out and stop being silent. Get out there and communicate.
After airing his political views Tom offered to match any donations pledged during the fundraiser that were paid by the end of the Scientology week — Thursday at 2:00.
I’ll do half if you do half. You want to become a New Civilization Builder, and you need to pay $500,000. You pay 250 and I’ll give you 250. You know you want to come down on some of these other statuses below. I don’t know their names any more. It’s like whatever the fuck they are you want to go up there you go half and here’s the point. And I’ll tell you something I will fly all the way from Italy to wherever the fuck you are in the world and I will kick your ass if you go and hang on the money because you go oh, Tom’s going to pay for half. No, what you do is you double the fucking status you thought you were going to go for, all right? You don’t become a dick and go oh, well, I was going to do 20 grand, but now that he’s going to do this I’m only going to pay 10. How about this for an answer: Fuck you. Go ahead and go for the double status. Come on, man. You’re going to pay this money fucking eventually. You know you’re going to get regged up to these other status. I’m giving you a fucking buy now, man. So take advantage of it, make sure you use it and take it to the max. And let’s keep this uptone and let’s go give the SPs of the world who are out there probably in their glory and tell them to go kiss our ass. And let’s take this place back, get these orgs open and feel fucking proud about it, and let C.O.B. know we have his back.
Sometimes one hears stories from inside Scientology about how intense the demands for money can be. These are certainly true, but the enthusiasm with which these members pledged money serves to demonstrate how intensely Scientologists believe in their movement and the importance of establishing Ideal Orgs across the planet. Scientology is a prison of belief, and those beliefs are strong and expensive
