Nancy Cartwright tops $17 million as Scientology celebrates its whales

[Nancy at $15 million, left, and now at $17.5 million]

Nancy Cartwright has topped herself again, moving up to “Diamond Laureate with Honors,” which means she’s given about $17.5 million in cumulative donations to Scientology’s membership organization. That ‘Simpsons’ money is so spendy!

“I felt the pride of being part of everything, of every area. We cannot underestimate the power of our reach,” the voice actress told Scientology’s ‘Impact’ magazine.

For the third time this year Scientology has published a celebration of its wealthiest donors, and the latest comes out just days before the year’s biggest party for Scientology richies is scheduled to happen this weekend in England.

Earlier this year, donors to the International Association of Scientologists (IAS) were celebrated in Beverly Hills and Clearwater, Florida, and we showed you those images and donation totals in a couple of posts with up-and-coming donors like Aaron Kyro, and the really big whales like Trish Duggan.

Now, we have the church’s report from its June celebration in the Caribbean, the “Maiden Voyage” event that’s held on the cruise ship ‘Freewinds.’

Scientology makes a game out of giving the church huge sums, begging big donors to turn over more and more in the hopes of reaching a new status level, a bigger trophy, and the prospect of being included in Impact magazine

But it’s really important to keep in mind that these are cumulative amounts. Someone credited for giving $500,000, for example, may have given only a few thousand in recent months that enabled them to get past that plateau. [For an explanation of how we know what amounts the statuses represent or the estimates we’ve made for some of them, see our methodology here.]

As always, we’re interested in hearing what you may know about these donors. How did they make their fortunes? What is their history in the church? We love hearing about their success stories.

Here they are, the wealthy Scientologists keeping David Miscavige’s operation afloat!

(At the LRH Birthday event in Clearwater in March, Jim was honored as “Platinum Laureate with Honors” at $13.5 million, which suggests that he ponied up another $1.5 million just between March and June. That electricity deregulation industry in Florida must be going like a house on fire.)

Nancy Cartwright

(At the previous year’s Maiden Voyage event, Nancy was named “Diamond Laureate” at $15 million, so she’s apparently given another $2.5 million in a year, and needs to fork over another $2.5 million to get to “Patron Excalibur”.)

Patron Maximus ($30 million)
Tom and Victoria Cummins

(Tom and Victoria were also named Patron Maximus at the LRH event in March, so maybe their giving hadn’t quite got them to the next level, Diamond Maximus, but they were given this recognition anyway.)

“Have you ever run a sperm sequence? It doesn’t have any energy in it either but it has all the energy there is in it. Have you ever seen anybody lying on the couch in the sperm sequence, and seen his feet start to swing sideways in an impossible motion? He says, ‘What am I doing?’ The energy which is generating that was of the magnitude necessary to wiggle the tail of something which is only visible in a microscope. And yet this fellow is wiggling his whole body on this tiny, tiny amount of energy.” — L. Ron Hubbard, October 10, 1951

“I lived through 70’s Punk, early 80’s hardcore, late 80’s alternative, and whatever passed for a scene in the first half of the 90’s, and most of my friends from those time periods are dead. But at least they had some really good times before their number came up. I don’t think Scientologists can say the same.”
