Another minor omen of the coming Scientology apocalypse appears in Florida

Orlando1About a month ago, our Florida correspondent “L. Wrong” spotted an interesting sight. Outside of the Hubbard Dianetics Foundation in Orlando, a “For Rent” sign had sprung up.

We’re actually surprised that more Scientology outlets haven’t gone belly-up, considering the sharp drop in activity at them around the world. But here was some visual evidence that the Orlando outlet had fallen on some hard times.

A week ago, LW tells us, the For Rent sign suddenly disappeared.

Then, last night, he drove past the place and noticed that the posters in the windows had all been taken down.

“The front room is full of packed up moving boxes, and there’s a moving truck pulled up out back. They’re moving out! I’ll go back tomorrow and see if I can dumpster dive anything interesting for you. May the spirit of Mark Ebner be with me,” he told us.

We’ll give you an update as soon as we get one!

Please stop telling us how to pronounce Cat White’s name

Before you feel compelled to tell us how Cathriona White’s first name is pronounced in Ireland, please go look at the first story we wrote about her last week.

Right there in the third paragraph, you’ll see that we explained that “Cathriona” is pronounced like “Katrina.”

So why, you may be asking yourself, did we tell Allison Hope Weiner on her show Media Mayhem that it’s pronounced “Kath-ree-OH-nah”?

Well, see, we’ve never had so many calls and emails from other reporters like we did on this story. For various reasons, the story of Cathriona’s suicide was a very tough one for other news organizations to report, and we tried to help out where we could. One of the first calls we received was from a reporter at People magazine who had seen our story and that we had told readers to pronounce the name Katrina.

She told us that the family in Ireland had asked the press to pronounce it Kath-ree-OH-na. So, we have been. (But usually we just say “Cat,” like her friends did.)

So, for all you helpful readers in Ireland, we know that you usually pronounce the name “Katrina,” and you can please stop explaining that to us like we were a small confused child.

Thanks.

        • Robert Eckert

Summer term I had a class to teach at 8AM, and the school was over an hour away if I drove the side roads (freeways were abominable at that hour), and it takes me some time to get awake, so I was up before 6, and my body started doing it even on non-work days. Only now, months after the ordeal ended, am I finally “sleeping in” until 8 or so.

          • Baby

Hi Robert.. I hear ya.. I’ve worked all shifts over the years.. If a Mentally Ill Vet needed me at 3:00 am .. to counsel I was there for him..( I was on call for 30 years) ..

      • Look above for my post … just have something on your stomach first … dry heaving is the worst …

    • Sid

It’s a paid ad that takes you to the Scientology website.

      • Davka

Yup, I know. I just always find it funny when these things pop up. Especially at a place like TMZ.

      • How do paid ads work? I know where it will take me. Does the church pay for every click? Is it worth making them pay anything?

        • Sid

Sometimes ads are paid by impression (views), and sometimes by clicks. A few extra clicks here and there won’t make a difference to the financial strength of Scientology I don’t think. If anyone does click through and reads the crap written about Miscavige they’re more likely to be put off than anything else.

      • kemist

I wonder who was the retard who thought of paying for this.

They realize no one outside of critics or scilons know who Miscavige is, or that ecclesiastical whateveryoucallit isn’t used much outside of these small groups either ? It might have been Bob Nobody : redefining the term quaternion for all people would care.

    • anoni81b4u

they need to do something at TMZ …
The comment sections are trolled by anti cult people …
      so I have heard 🙂

      • There are 6 pages of the stuff below, Be ready to hurl in 3-2-1… (source is http://www.scientology.org/david-miscavige.html)

David Miscavige is the ecclesiastical leader of the Scientology religion. From his position as Chairman of the Board of Religious Technology Center (RTC), Mr. Miscavige bears the ultimate responsibility for ensuring the standard and pure application of L. Ron Hubbard’s technologies of Dianetics and Scientology and for Keeping Scientology Working.

In that capacity, Mr. Miscavige has redefined the term “religious leader” to fit the tasks necessary to direct a truly unique, contemporary religion—a religion born in the twentieth century, which has achieved an unprecedented level of expansion in the twenty-first century, including some 11,000 Churches, Missions and affiliated groups across 167 nations.

Under Mr. Miscavige’s stewardship, Scientology-supported social betterment and humanitarian programs have touched the lives of billions. Mr. Hubbard’s religious works are more widely available than ever and the Church has achieved unprecedented growth both in physical size and in the reach of its ministry.

Such is the stamp of Mr. David Miscavige in fulfilling the vision and legacy of L. Ron Hubbard and such is the encapsulated story of his leadership:

-Guaranteeing the continued growth and expansion of Scientology internationally
-Making Scientology broadly available to people of all walks of life world over
-Developing programs to address society’s worst ills and providing the resources to put those programs into action
-Ensuring that the Scripture of Scientology is true to the Founder’s original writings
-Developing proprietary audio restoration technology to preserve Mr. Hubbard’s recorded lectures
-Forming translations units and establishing methodology to ensure the foreign dissemination of the materials of Dianetics and Scientology
-Seeing to the international dissemination of the Scientology religion and its humanitarian objectives through establishment of a 185,000-square-foot Scientology Dissemination and Distribution Center
        -Creating Ideal Scientology Church Organizations
-Establishing two state-of-the-art digital publishing houses capable of producing 1.3 million books and 1 million CDs per week
-Inspiring the Volunteer Ministers Program, the world’s largest independent relief force, with more than 200,000 volunteers
-Securing official recognitions of the religion
-Presiding over nine annual globally broadcast events that serve as briefings for Scientologists on the Church’s strategic programs

        L. RON HUBBARD’S TRUSTED FRIEND

Born in 1960, David Miscavige has been a Scientologist for most of his life and is still remembered as the 12-year-old prodigy who served as the youngest professional auditor at Saint Hill’s famed Hubbard Guidance Center in England.

He is further remembered for the fact that barely a year after entering the Scientology religious order, the Sea Organization, at the age of 16, he was among a handful of people selected to work directly with L. Ron Hubbard. After personal instruction from Mr. Hubbard, the 17-year-old David Miscavige served as his Director of Photography for the first Scientology training films.

Later, at Mr. Hubbard’s request, Mr. Miscavige served as the senior executive supervising ecclesiastical missions to Scientology Churches around the world. By the age of 18, David Miscavige had become the individual L. Ron Hubbard called upon to carry out the most important assignments. No Church executive in history ever received more direct communication from L. Ron Hubbard than Mr. Miscavige.

In 1983, L. Ron Hubbard described a heroic Church executive who cleaned the ranks of rogue staff attempting to seize control of Scientology while Mr. Hubbard was engaged in intensive research and absent from the Church. As Mr. Hubbard himself phrased it:

“So forgive me for not managing the Church when it almost fell into hostile hands. It all came out all right. Why? Because real Scientologists made sure it did. My faith was justified.”

That real Scientologist L. Ron Hubbard spoke of was David Miscavige.

In light of what had nearly transpired, L. Ron Hubbard requested a corporate reorganization of the Church designed to ensure the Church would not fall into hostile hands and the religion could move on into perpetuity—always remaining true to its Source teachings. To that end, L. Ron Hubbard saw to the formation of Religious Technology Center to hold the Scientology and Dianetics trademarks and to preserve, maintain and protect the Scientology religion. He appointed Mr. Miscavige a Trustee of that Church organization.

To oversee his personal affairs for the remainder of his life, L. Ron Hubbard also appointed David Miscavige as chairman of the organization charged with handling those matters.

Following L. Ron Hubbard’s passing in 1986, it was Mr. Miscavige who steered Scientology through those difficult days; for as history demonstrates, the true test of any religion is to survive the passing of its Founder. Indeed, it was Mr. Miscavige who secured that survival by obtaining full religious recognition in the United States and ushering Scientology onto the global stage.

Since then, Mr. Miscavige has steadfastly carried forth L. Ron Hubbard’s legacy, until Scientology now stands as the only major religion to emerge in this modern age. To be sure, what Mr. Miscavige has done is no more or less than the fulfillment of L. Ron Hubbard’s vision—a vision he knew would be faithfully carried out with Mr. Miscavige at the helm.

“Trust and friendship are things forged in fire and pounded out on the anvil of life. We have been through a lot together. I trust you as you trust me.”

—L. Ron Hubbard to David Miscavige

        ]

Somehow the final quite seems ripe for something …

        • anoni81b4u

“Mr. Hubbard’s religious works are more widely available than ever .”
AT LEAST THEY WERE HONEST ABOUT THAT PART

        • L. Wrong Hubturd

Blah blah blah. Mr. Miscavige does every……except when something bad happens and then he knows nothing and is only working on pure, ecclesiastical matters.

        • ze moo

I love how Miscabitch ‘saved’ $cienoland from ‘rogue’ elements in 83. Actually, Lroon destroyed the mission network because they were taking too much money for themselves. Like any godfather, Lroon wanted his cut to be larger.

Miscabitch ‘made his bones’ in that operation and proved his fealty to Lroon. All the rest is just so much hagiography….

Why redefine words when you’ve got one that fits already.

Who’s making the coffee run so we have a Proprietor’s Special to prop Tony up with after the new post?

    • 5 Feet Long and Luminous

One of my favorite musicals! Love Gene Kelly, even though he could be a little tyrant. He put Debbie Reynolds through hell to film this scene.

      • A bird in the chimney

I love this movie! And Gene Kelly, tyrant and all. He was also sick as a dog through a lot of filming but it doesn’t show. What a talent–and he brought it out in Debbie, even if ‘brought it out’ translates to gave her no other choice. ;]

        • 5 Feet Long and Luminous

Maybe tyrant was too strong a word, but he was a hella perfectionist and could sometimes take it out on his co-stars. But man, was he brilliant. You’re right, he was sick during filming–I’d forgotten that. He was running a pretty high fever the day he had to be drenched with water to film the title song. The ballet sequence with Cyd Charisse is some serious beauty.

          • A bird in the chimney

So brilliant. And I’m okay with tyrant. Aha. Not a malicious tyrant, and a tyrant with a purpose, but yeah, a little tyrannical. Same with Fred Astaire; they had their art but also treated it as a true craft, and no one was going to get in their way of that. Respect.

Cyd’s legs for days plus Gene’s grounded yet fluid movement quality is a thing to behold. 🙂

            • 5 Feet Long and Luminous

Indeed. Total respect. Fred Astaire was pure poetry.

So according to the poster above for the St Hill Gag-la, Jesse Stevenson is a gospel and soul singer.
How is that possible when they have no gospel to speak of since all religions according to OT3 are hypnotic suggestion al’a Clockwork Orange?

It is like these frigging goinks don’t even know how to keep their own horseshit story organized mentally it is such a mishmash and dogs breakfast of self contradictory stomach acid..

It is really sad to see such a great and world-beloved man like David Miscavige be denigrated and debased on this hatchet-site. His whole life has been dedicated to making ALL of us clear, and all you do Bunker-twits do is spit in his face. Face it: David is the new LRH and he’s not going anywhere, this planet needs all the help it can get!
