Jenna Elfman’s career finds new life in the zombie apocalypse

Jenna Elfman has resurrected her acting career with a role as a zombie-killer, so what better way to celebrate her career’s reincarnation than with some recognition on the cover of Scientology’s goofiest magazine, Celebrity.

Our thanks to the reader who sent us images from the issue, which goes on and on about how excited everyone is that Jenna landed a part in a spin-off series of The Walking Dead.

We tend to skip past the celebratory career stuff and get right to the Scientology portions. Ever since Laura Prepon made headlines for talking openly like a nutty Scientologist in her own Celebrity interview, we’ve been curious about how the next Hollywood figure is going to fare in its pages.

It turns out that Jenna’s testimonial about Scientology is pretty tame. Here’s that part in its entirety…

This curiosity is what led her to read Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, when she was first introduced to Dianetics and Scientology 28 years ago. Reading about the human mind, Jenna was intrigued to learn how conditions and drives like loss and survival impact an individual’s decisions. She found the writings of L. Ron Hubbard on the mind and human behavior helped her get through life — and her career…

Jenna shares there are four important factors she uses to keep her characters compelling. She says she uses her imagination, the powers of observation she has developed her entire life, her actor training and then there is everything that she has studied about the human mind especially through Dianetics.

Dianetics is literally a map of the human mind as plotted against survival and loss. With many powerful examples, it illustrates what happens to sanity, hope, competence and self-confidence. It’s an incredible road map of the human journey. Having an understanding of the mind and its effect on people’s choices has helped me a lot, especially to keep my sanity in Hollywood!”

Explaining how Dianetics has informed both her career and private life, Jenna says, “L. Ron Hubbard talks about what happens to people when they have loss, he talks about the mind and what happens when it’s under threat of survival. Since I first read Dianetics, and I’ve read it several times since, it’s become such a backbone of my own journey of survival. It also helps me understand characters that I am playing, especially in dramatic roles where you’re going so deep. It rings so true, you just can’t ignore it.”

She adds, “Everything I’ve done in Dianetics and Scientology has helped me strip away all that isn’t me so I can make better choices in life. I’ve become more and more able to clearly understand things and also be more productive and happy with less and less drama and confusion. I feel like I’m growing every day and it makes life a thrilling adventure.”

You can see that Jenna is pretty well trained, and keeps things as vague as possible. Ever since an infamous 2006 incident, we’ve been waiting for her to blow her stack again.

More recently, she did get a little heated when she was being interviewed on People TV (whatever that is), and unleashed this rant…

Well I’ve been a Scientologist for 28 years and that’s a huge part of what helps us keep our communication going in our relationship. You know, we’ve never cheated on each other, like we’ve never broken up, like, we hang in there. Raising children. Maintaining my sanity in a crazy world — like, our world is crazy. It’s getting crazier, and Hollywood is like the ne plus ultra of crazy. And I use, you know in Scientology there’s tools on communication. You could do a course, it’s a communication course, on how to communicate and understand people, how to improve relationships with others, that’s another course in Scientology. It has one of the most successful drug rehabilitation programs in the world. It’s got a criminal reform program that uses Hubbard’s methodology. I think for people who do the Criminon program for inmates it’s got a 98 percent success rate, like, no recidivism. And right now, our recidivism rate is like 85 percent in California alone? So I think anything that works tends to get attacked. I think that…

What do you think is the biggest misconception about Scientology and why does it get picked on so much?

I don’t know. I just, it’s like, it’s been so workable for me. I don’t even… Yeah, like why… I use it every single day of my life, and it keeps me energized and vivacious and happy and, I like literally have so much going on why am I going to you know, let me go put some negativity in my life. Let me go see who’s being a bigot. Why would I search for bigotry in this world when it’s the one thing that’s been this huge help in my life to keep me sane and to raise great kids. And, I just think people should check it out for themselves and not just believe everything that they may happen to just hear or read on the Internet. You know, and you go to Scientology.org and find out for yourself. How about that? That’s a novel idea.

Oh, she’s touchy.

When is David Miscavige going to take the leash off and let her run amok? The entertainment value is off the charts.

HowdyCon 2019 in Los Angeles

Janis Grady has set the June 22 combined event. Her annual reunion and barbecue will coincide with the Saturday event for HowdyCon. If you wish to attend, you will need to RSVP with Janis (janisgrady@gmail.com), and there will be a small contribution she’ll be asking for to help pay costs.

We are very close to securing our Friday night venue in Los Angeles, and we’ll provide another update on that as soon as we have it confirmed. All we can tell you at this time is the Friday night event will be more like a presentation in a theater (like the final night last year in Chicago), and the Saturday event will be a more casual barbecue setting.
