PODCAST: Paulette Cooper has been exposing Scientology’s abuses for more than 50 years

[Paulette Cooper in 1967, before all the trouble started]

This week at the podcast, we’re coming back around to why we created the Underground Bunker to begin with. In 2012, we began working on a book that eventually gained the title The Unbreakable Miss Lovely, and we created our website in order to make sure the book had an audience when it came out in 2015.

That book, of course, was about Paulette Cooper and the incredible lengths Scientology’s “Guardian’s Office” went to in its attempts to try to destroy her career and ruin her life. Why? Well, because Paulette was a journalist who had dared to write one of the first books exposing L. Ron Hubbard and his dangerous organization (1971’s The Scandal of Scientology). She endured years of harassment and dirty tricks operations that became legendary in the field, and at one point Scientology’s spy wing had her facing 15 years in federal prison for a crime she didn’t commit.

All of that you can read about not only in our book about Paulette, but now she has published a memoir of her own that you should read, and we wanted to talk to her about it here at the podcast.

Today, we’re releasing the twelfth episode of The Underground Bunker Podcast to our paid subscribers at Substack. You should receive it presently at your email inbox if you’re on the list.

Not a paid subscriber? Well, we have something for you, too. Last week’s episode was with Michelle “Emma” Ryan, who for more than a decade provided a landing place online for people fleeing Scientology. In the weeks before, we talked to Jefferson Hawkins, Marc Headley, Patty Moher, Geoff Levin, Pete Griffiths, Sunny Pereira, Jeffrey Augustine, and Claire Headley.

Those first eleven episodes are now free to all of our subscribers, paid and unpaid. All of our podcast episodes can be found here.

Technology Cocktail

“Past lives as a subject is made distasteful, possibly purposely, by some who, by fearing to have been a nobody and seeking status, talk loudly to others about having been Napoleon, Julius Caesar and Brutus all at the same time. In a society which tries to hide in the current identity or seeks to mortalize everyone and make people only animals the subject of past lives can be a difficult one socially. The truth in auditing is, IF YOU DON’T RUN THE INCIDENTS GIVEN BY THE PC HE DOESN’T GET WELL. One spectacular recovery of an insane woman occurred when she ran an incident as a lion who ate her keeper. Freudian work hadn’t been able to crack the case. The alienist at the sanitarium kept her in with trying to explain how it was all delusion (the current technique pre-Dianetics). A Dianetic Auditor found and ran it and she became sane at once and stayed so.” — L. Ron Hubbard, 1969

“You’ll find the artists and musicians of this particular planet always have some schnook alongside of them to cave them in. They always marry the wrong girl, you know, and get the wrong agent, and, because they’re creating. The industrialist, the manufacturer, that sort of thing, these boys, it’s not because of any deep-seated communist plot, it’s just they are in trouble, that’s all. They haven’t got enough force to protect their own creativeness, and as a result, why, people attack them. Elementary. Basic answer on the whole track, if you had never had anybody create anything, you would have no trouble. Nothing had ever been created, why, of course you wouldn’t have any universe to be in trouble with. This is all very elementary.” — L. Ron Hubbard, September 10, 1963

Avast, Ye Mateys

“Did you notice ashore how the native pesetas have inflated??? Wow. We better start getting our stats up. World inflation is ZOOMING. That would eat up all our reserves in a minute. So Hi Ho for the open sea. Farewell and adieu to you Spanish ladies. Farewell and adieu to you ladies of Spain. Until we strike soundings in the Channel of Old England. But we hope in a short time to see you again.” — The Commodore, September 10, 1969

“What puzzles me is that there is so much opportunity for lawsuits, because none of the shut down laws, social distancing laws, mask laws are legal. They are all arbitrary laws. They are not based on facts. They are only held in place by media lies and fear mongering and arguments. Arbitrary laws are not legally binding. WTF is wrong with all the effing lawyers in America? The most litigious country in the world. This is unbelievably insane! There are 8 billion stupid people on earth. There is no intelligent life on earth. Anthony Fauci is the biggest criminal on earth, along with Bill Gates and company.”

Past is Prologue

1999: Court files in a criminal case against Scientologists in Marseilles have been destroyed, leading to speculation that Scientology was involved in the operation. From the Associated Press: “France’s Justice Ministry opened an investigation Wednesday into the destruction of evidence against the Church of Scientology in a Marseilles court. ‘I will shed light on this malfunction,’ said Justice Minister Elisabeth Guigou. ‘It’s serious that this evidence has disappeared.’ Marseilles court officials alerted the Justice Ministry to the removal of more than three tons of evidence in August, saying the destruction appeared to be accidental. The Marseilles prosecutor’s office said in a statement that the disposal of certain sealed files was a result of ‘negligence’ by a court clerk and not an intentional act.”

“After all these years a Scientologist is trying to dox me? I gave vaLLarrr more than enough clues to dox me but OSA was too incompetent to pick up on it. Actually it’s probably just Flunk looking for revenge.”
