One of our most reliable Los Angeles area correspondents, who has gotten into numerous Scientology events and reported on them for us, told us that they were struck by a sudden change in plans that they found pretty significant.
This is their report. We’d like to hear from our veterans about whether they agree this is a surprising change, and if they agree with our correspondent’s analysis. Here’s their dispatch…
“This a new development. I heard about it earlier this week, but waited to send it to you until I got the confirming promotional flier. Such a last-minute change for a Maiden Voyage Event at PAC Base is extraordinary.
“Here are the facts: The Maiden Voyage Night 4 ‘Expansion’ Event at PAC Base has been continued one week from Saturday, July 20 to Saturday, July 27 and converted to a Convention that starts at 10 am. In addition to showing the video of the Maiden Voyage Night 4 ‘Expansion Event,’ the Convention will feature workshops on how to become active through Field Activities, etc. They plan a full day of events…
“In addition, Valley Org held an Ideal USA Continental Convention this weekend…
“My take: I’ve heard speculation this will be a reg-fest [intense fundraising event]. I’m confident that is wrong. These events are going to be about recruiting. They are pushing to get staff for the new Kansas City Ideal Org. The problem they are having is that there are not enough Scientologists in Kansas City’s local field to staff-up an Ideal Org, much less sufficiently trained Scientologists. I know that is a problem with almost all new Ideal Orgs, but it is particularly problematic in the Midwest.”
Here and at Mike Rinder’s site we’ve seen a lot of evidence that Scientology leader David Miscavige is having trouble staffing his new Ideal Orgs, which soon go dormant after their grand openings.
What do you think, veterans of Scientology’s staffs and Sea Org, is that what’s happening here?
