[Valerie Haney]New court documents indicate that the Church of Scientology has asked for an emergency “ex parte” hearing on Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court so that it can ask that Valerie Haney’s lawsuit alleging kidnapping and slander be stayed so the church can force her to take her grievances to an internal Scientology arbitration panel instead. Monday night, the Washington Post uncorked a stunning investigation based on a whistleblower’s confidential report to the IRS. The report, written by a former employee of a subsidiary of the Mormon church, claimed that the church has, in violation of its tax exempt status, amassed a fortune of $100 billion. Continue reading Scientology will try to force Danny Masterson accusers into its internal ‘arbitration’

We have interacted with many journalists around the world doing our work here at the Underground Bunker covering Scientology stories. Journalists who have come to get their questions answered, and others who have generously helped us with tips or documents, or just story suggestions. Scientology is an arcane and difficult subject to cover, and in the small fraternity of reporters who dive into it, we’ve enjoyed many professional exchanges with exceptional people. Continue reading Pete Combs, 1959-2019: A reporter who believed in the power of digging for the truth
