‘We’ve talked to the FBI’ Leah Remini says in first podcast, calling for Scientology raid

 
Now this was a lot of fun. Leah Remini and Mike Rinder dropped the first episode of their new weekly podcast ‘Scientology: Fair Game’ at midnight, and we eagerly devoured it.

Numbered in the grand Scientology tradition as episode zero, for an hour the duo we got to know so well in their three-season A&E series Scientology and the Aftermath picked up pretty much where they left off last year, with Leah expressing exasperation over the things Scientology gets away with and Mike calmly explaining how things work both in Scientology and in law enforcement as far as “fair gaming” Scientology’s perceived enemies.

 
The show started off with Leah asking Mike to define “Fair Game” and explain how Scientology targets former members and anyone else who dares to speak out publicly about its abuses. Which includes themselves, of course, and their show. Leah jabbed Scientologists like Ed Parkin who have crowed that they got Leah off the air.

“Ed, keep it coming, because the lawsuit will be huge,” Leah says.

As for what they’ve been doing since the series ended, Leah says that they’ve continued working.

“We’ve met with the FBI, we’ve met with police departments. We’re talking to further victims. We’re putting those people in touch with the authorities….We’re all being Fair Gamed, constantly,” she says.

For an example of how Scientology evaded law enforcement in the past, Leah asks Mike about what happened in the Lisa McPherson case. Mike explained how evidence was destroyed, witnesses were rounded up and drilled on what to say, and some were sent out of the country.

And records of everything Scientology does is kept in paper files. Leah stresses this point, that she’s tried to encourage law enforcement to raid Scientology as the FBI did in 1977, because the paper folders contain written evidence of all of Scientology’s abuses.

And we were intrigued to see them get into a more recent example of sending someone away, the case of Danny Masterson’s missing auditor, Angie LaClaire. Mike surmised the same thing we have, that Angie is probably cooling her heels on Scientology’s private cruise ship, the Freewinds, a place where she’s beyond the reach of American law enforcement agencies, and where we have some actual evidence that Masterson witnesses have been sent.

Some other highlights:

Leah says Danny Masterson was an asshole and mistreated his Scientology handlers.

Mike says that Masterson might decide to turn on Scientology and tell the truth.

Leah says she’s perpetually in shock by what Scientology continues to get away with, citing the recent news that three Scientology churches had received PPP loans from the Small Business Administration. (And so did two Narconon rehabs, four Scientology schools, and the Citizens Commission on Human Rights.)

So what can people do? Mike recommends writing Congress, but they’ve also set up a new website which is in the beginning stages: fairgamepodcast.com

So wow, this is a great new format for these two. Not only can they go into Scientology abuses past and present, but Leah can be herself and let a few f-words fly. We’re digging it.
