Karen de la Carriere: Scientology is smearing me again, and this time is hitting below the belt

KarenDeLa_Louis_Theroux

Just in time for Valentine’s Day we have a not so heartwarming story of Scientology Fair Game. You may be aware that BBC presenter Louis Theroux premiered a new film in London last October titled “My Scientology Movie.” We were there, and so was Karen de la Carriere, who happens to be a neighbor of Theroux in Los Angeles.

While he was working on the film in 2014, Theroux spent a lot of time talking to Karen, who helped set him up with some of the people in the movie. Karen posted photos of her visits with Theroux, who filmed some footage in her house. Recently, however, a Twitter account with a name close to Karen’s own showed up that portrayed her as a prostitute. One of those tweets you can see above, with one of the photos that the actual Karen had posted while Theroux was working on his movie.

Sure, it’s a classic smear campaign, and it’s pretty obvious who’s behind it. Karen decided rather than to keep quiet that she would make a video about it, and talk about the other things that have been thrown at her — including material right out of her supposedly confidential confessional sessions in the Church of Scientology. Give it a look…

On a happier note, we’ll just mention that we hear that Theroux’s movie may be getting closer to a release date in the United States. As soon as we know more, we’ll let you know.

Withdrawal symptoms, Texas supreme style

For you document hounds and Scientology completists out there, we have the order issued by the Texas Supreme Court accepting the withdrawal of Monique Rathbun’s attorneys from the case after she fired them. The order also temporarily lifts the stay in the case so a similar withdrawal motion can be entered in the trial court in Comal County. According to the state supreme court’s online docket, Scientology’s deadline for submitting a petition by February 19 — this Friday — has not changed.

Monique Rathbun v. Scientology: Order to lift stay

ROFL… Due to where my brain goes EVERYtime I read Jimmy posts, when I first read Robert’s reply, I snorted my tea as I totally read that as “Happy Venereal Disease!” He he he sorry Jimmy… Just where my brain goes!

  • One more comment before I go out into the lovely, warm day (El Niño is on its way back I hear): Slut shaming. Really? This shows how lost in Hubbard’s very broken mind the cult is. As I mentioned earlier in the week, Hubbard was afraid of women, afraid of sex in general, but especially women. This is common in the patriarchy in which we all swim. Men enjoy lots of sex and they’re “sewing their wild oats” (hardy back slap and knowing laugh). But heaven forbid a woman should openly want the D. Then she’s a slut! A whore! A scarlet woman! Fuck that shit. And fuck you Miscavige and OSA for slut shaming any woman, let alone one whose life you have made it your obsession to ruin.

    • jazzlover

Seize the day, never rue the D. Carpe diem, and all that jazz 😉

      • dagobarbz

        Scn’s latin motto: Carpe Emptor!

        • jazzlover

Beware the seizing/plucking AND beware the seizure, all rolled up into one. Now, that’s efficient!

      • Ella Raitch

        Seizing every day is exhausting!

        • jazzlover

Ok, then just seize the sex 😉

          • Ella Raitch

As long as I can seize a nap in there somewhere I’m golden

            • jazzlover

You’ll have to work that out with your husband, but I’m sure he’d let ya rest……….occasionally 🙂

    • Sherbet

It’s sort of the same idea the church gets when they think it’s a huge slur to say someone is gay. “Haha, so-and-so (bitter apostate) is gay. Snicker, snicker.” Is that the best (worst) you can come up with, scientology? Is it really shameful for someone to admit they like sex? More snickers. “So-and-so was, um, oooooh, sexually active. Shame, shame!”

Really ridiculous, childish, and insulting. “You are gay. You are a slut. Therefore, you are less an exalted being than any scientologist is.”

Give it up, Dave. Your alleged insults aren’t.

      • jazzlover

What these idiots don’t realize is that in a world where men are expected to be men and women are considered less than human for being women, what they are really promoting is the emergence of the “hairy palm” society of self-love and self-loathing at the same time. In other words — the end of the species, a total and complete genocide where everybody is cleared and nobody is cleared.

        • Sherbet

And nobody pays for the “privilege” of taking part in their services.

          • jazzlover

They know the money well is running dry, and that they can’t have it all. I could have probably lived enough past lifetimes (extravagantly) to have existed a gazillion years before Xenu was even a young tot thinking of ruling the galaxy with all the money the scam has today.

            • Sherbet

              That’s a lot of cash, right? 😉

      • dagobarbz

I have been called fat (HEH!) a drug dealer, a slut, gay and ugly by Scientologists online.
I especially like it when they call me fat, because I weigh 115 lbs. soaking wet.

It’s pure juvenile sandbox baloney from people pretending to be superior.

        • Sherbet

Exactly, barbz. “They” think they’re slinging their worst sh** at dissenters, but (1) those insults aren’t exactly insults except among pre-teens, and (2) even if the church spoke the truth (ha! As if), what kind of a CHURCH engages in mud-slinging? A fake church, a vindictive church, a church that’s stuck in 1955. This church needs to go.

          • dagobarbz

My dad and I went up to Hemet to visit Ida Camburn. We called home when we got to Ida’s to tell mom we’d arrived. She was laughing.

She’d gotten a call from “The Adult Bookstore.” Message was, “Tell Mr. Graham his order is in.” LOL! Dad didn’t do porn, and the cult knew I was going up because I’d posted it on ARS.

Knowing we wouldn’t be home, the cult made their move. I was hoping they’d do something, and they didn’t disappoint.

            Moreover, the lulz were epic!

            • Sherbet

I admire people like you with lots of guts to deal with cos’s underhandedness. And I’m glad your mom wasn’t freaked out.

            • dagobarbz

Actually, we all found it pretty entertaining! They’re not the only ones who can run Black Ops. There was a day when Gold was open to “father son fishing day.” Somehow the cult got the idea that a bunch of critics were planning to go fishing at Diamond Valley Lake, so they hired a bunch of PIs to stake out Ida’s house.

Nobody went fishing, but the cult bit our bait. PIs don’t come cheap!

I love your story. I have discovered the minimalist approach to exposing scientology’s dark side reaps the most rewards. Gullible, Gullible.

        • Labeling is very much a Scientology technique. But in the fray they get themselves labelled !

      • Jenyfurrrrr

Yep! Backwoods, ignorant 13-year-old level humor AT BEST!

      • Sherbet~~ The cult obsession with sex, sexual body parts and sex objects is remarkable. Remember it was the Cult of Scientology that sent Mosey Rathbun a dildo to her work address to embarrass her.

The Producers of Surviving Scientology are really distributing some high quality video content, which could be “cut into” any infotainment piece, perhaps in OZ or NZ. Would love to see some of this latest video of Karen de la C on, say, Brian Seymour’s show.

And it does, so well, Karen, show the gutter mind, the limited imagination, the warped personality disorder, the degraded self of the man, that he would perpetuate the Founder’s same depraved/demeaning strategy. It is important, very much so, to point out the maliciousness of the Cherch of Scientology, using sexual innuendo.

For those unfamiliar, this was the setting for an awesomely ’60s spy show from the BBC that attempted to answer the question, “What happens when a spy retires?”

A powerful metaphor of a community that uses mind control, surveillance, and social manipulation to constrain/break a single person.

It’s a world that Hubbard and Miscavige would love to live in as long as they are #2 (the person who runs the place). #1 is never revealed. All our protagonist is told when he asked the question is, “You are #6”

    • coonellie

Isn’t Sloat a perfectly dastardly name?

  • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

I expect this is already old news to the eagle eyes of the Bunker. I have copied this in its entirety from one of Pete’s posts.

“After being snubbed by the Oscars, Going Clear won the WGA award for best documentary screenplay, with writer Alex Gibney accepting the award and calling out the Church of Scientology in his speech, noting that the film is a writer’s movie because “L. Ron Hubbard set the Guinness Book of World Records for I think the most published works ever … He had a fevered imagination which allowed him to translate the desire for making money and avoiding taxes into a religion.”

“It’s also a writer’s movie in the sense that I stood on the broad shoulders of Lawrence Wright, the great Pulitzer Prize-winning author who wrote [the book] Going Clear and there are a number of [people] in the legal office at HBO who responded to an avalanche of threatening letters from Scientology,” Gibney said. “The word was that there were 150 lawyers. That was, as they say in the business, a fact too good to check. There were in fact only four but their job was full time and honestly I wouldn’t be here tonight if they hadn’t backed me up to the fullest in terms of resisting the litigious might of the Church of Scientology. The other thing I should say is whenever you’re trying to speak truth to power, at least when you’re a filmmaker, you rely a lot on the people who speak the truth and you try to amplify them. So this award is dedicated to them, the people who were willing to speak up against the human-rights abuses including our fellow [WGA] member Paul Haggis and many other people who said enough is enough.””

    • Sid (Phil Jones)

This from a group that claims over 12 million members. Yes, 123.5% of Scientologists are on services, doing humanitarian work, and have increased their IQs. 100% of all statistics from Scientology are lies.

  • Bob Crouch

It’s interesting how little those same norms of sexual propriety apply when it comes to Hubbard, Cruise, Travolta and Miscavige.

DM and Pat Broeker absconded with Lord Hubris’ ill-gotten gains
on numerous occasions to Vegas for whores and to gamble.
We are not informed if he brought his applebox but we could make an educated guess.
We are also reliably informed that sexual slurs are a principal means of communication for
this physically and emotionally stunted sorry excuse for a human being.

Does DM go on at length because he can’t do depth or height?

Here’s a little nursery rhyme for ya, Dave:

    Let Him Die
Wee Davey was a little clam
He fleeced, t’was quite the show
    And everywhere that Davey went,
The tears were sure to flow.

They followed his dad, the fools, for pay,
    Which was against the rule;
It made the critics laugh and play
To see that clam get schooled.

And the cops burned the PIs, the louts,
But the stench, it lingered near.
Critics waited patiently for Ron’s book to come out
    Asking “Will Davey disappear?”

“Why do the clams love Davey so?”
    The eager critics cry;
“Why, Davey beats the clams, you know,”
    The exes did reply.

The Cult of Scientology swaggering and pretending only THEY have a higher form of

degeneracy and depravity. It will take decades to repair this kind of public
relations. Wonder if it can *EVER* be repaired…
I am sending out a warning to the poor fools who give $$$ to them thinking their confessional

The clampire used to revel in its ‘bad boy’ image. Now, that is all it has. As they haven’t sued any news outlet since 1991, they are seen as a paper kitten. After all pr work that Tom Cruise did for them, did their ‘reputation’ improve? It did not, any now TC is constantly tarred with the crazy $cieno label. Thanks to Wright and Gibney and all of the other books on $cientology, the public is better educated then ever.

    • madame duran

So the clams at Mission of the Footbullets expect public Scientologists to give up their Valentine’s Day–A SPECIAL TIME SPECIFICALLY RESERVED FOR DEVOTING LOVING ATTENTION TO ONE’S SPOUSE/LOVED ONE–in order to put L. Ron Hubbard ahead of their significant other. Passing up on being treated to chocolates, roses, a fine dinner, lovely gifts (diamonds for some!), quiet blissful connecting time and sex to do what? TAKE COURSES (i.e. work)! Scientologists have no sense of fun or affection whatsoever. NONE. Since when was anything in Scientology “simple” and/or “sweet”?
And why would anyone take these courses seriously when the top Scientologist, Tom Cruise, has already crashed through three marriages? Define or word clear “success” or “happy”, please.

    • mon elle

WTH? Kanye is asking for people to pray for him because he needs money?

I would suggest whoever his spiritual adviser is help him discern if his extreme debt is due to forgetting the words of Paul at 1 Timothy 6:9,10:

But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

It’s not the money … it’s the love of money … that bites you in the butt.

But then Kanye is purportedly very familiar with action in that region.

      • I don’t love money, I just say that to get it to come back to my place.

After Karen’s vid up above, another vid was ‘suggested’ — the interview between TC & Oprah in Telluride, after the couch jumping, etc., while he is still married to KH. Oprah brings up the 2004 “stolen” TC video and she says you can tell that it has been heavily edited… what do you know of this?

            • The only editing done post-Scientology was to fit the chunks into YouTube’s 10 minute back in the day. I have all the chunks, and it seems to be what was on Scientology’s DVD, which can be verified.

All that choppy editing was pure Scientology as dictated by DM.

Feb. 17 on the smear Twitter account? I guess they’ve achieved Super Power Time Travel Abilites as well. What a bunch of maroons.

    • NOLAGirl (Stephanie)

John Wood and his posse have been all over Twitter today passing around their disgusting links to their Karen slander/Freedumb webpages. Not only were the links garbage but the reaction to the tweets from folks who aren’t regular critics was disgust. Slut-shaming Karen is back-firing in their faces…spectacularly.

Slimy isn’t a filthy enough word for these scumbags.

      • Doc M

Ya know NG I’m not defending them but on some level the Kool-aid has deeply penetrated their minds. They are prisoners in this dark world and are totally oblivious to their situation…and that is sad. Again, I’m not defending it as it is horrifying to the worst degree.

I blame Hubbard for creating it and DM for perpetuating it.

        • Ben Franklin

“I blame Hubbard for creating it and DM for perpetuating it.”

…and the Kool-Aid drinkers for being oblivious. Let’s not forget that there are those who were also deep in it and have woken up and left. It is difficult but not impossible.

          • Doc M

When they’re oblivious, it’s hard to pass blame. I find that part very said because they are wasting their precious life and they don’t know it.

A couple of years ago while driving home (I live near the beach and the Pacific Ocean), I saw a young woman whose 2 year old beautiful golden retriever was lying dead in the street. This was a very busy and heavily trafficked avenue during rush hour. She was screaming at the driver who couldn’t stop in time to avoid hitting the dog who ran into the avenue.

I love animals and I kept thinking, you stupid girl. This is a dog, a dog does not understand traffic. Why the the hell did you not keep the dog on the lease when crossing. The driver was also understandably devastated, she just screamed and screamed.

The point is that people can be so brainwashed that they can’t see anything else. It’s impossible.

Sure some people woke up, but it takes strength, perhaps some help to start cracking that shell or paradigm or whatever you want to call it. There are others who do not have that strength.
Just because many have woken up does not mean that all are able to.

To repeat, I said that the behavior was horrifying but they were incapable of understanding…like the dog.

        • ze moo

I should have been clearer, by scumbags I meant the entire OSA machine. I know they are all victims of the mind-fuck but if they’re slandering someone I respect I will treat them like any other troll. Make no mistake though, if Mr. Wood reached out and wanted help getting out of there, I’d definitely put him in touch with people I thought could help.

Cross the street to the SP side CoS members…we have caek, laughs, popcorn, cocktails and most importantly….love. ❤

          • Doc M

You were clear in fact your posts are always clear and many times funny, I guess I was just thinking of how sad it is for those who are deeply in not to understand how they’re wasting their lives and don’t even know it. They say the most horrific things and don’t understand why it is bad.

I also understand how they’re meant to be treated like trolls, however mind control can run very deep. I’ve tried reasoning with Scientologists in very nice and respectful ways and it doesn’t pierce that armor. Yelling doesn’t help either. It’s like asking my dog to cook dinner. Polly is sweet, affectionate, smart and I love her, but she is a dog and it will never happen.

I’m not sure if cult deprogramming still exists or if it is really good, but years ago when it was more common, it could take a month or more of isolation and constant reprogramming to snap the bubble and the people out of the “Moonies”.

“Cross the street to the SP side CoS members…we have caek, laughs, popcorn, cocktails and most importantly….love. ❤”

I put in your last sentence because it is a very beautiful sentiment and offers hope.

            • I have to put in a word here against the whole concept of ‘deprogrogramming’.

              1) It’s based on a false premise (that people have been ‘brainwashed ‘ against their will as Chinese forces were suposed to have done to POWs during the Korean war)
              2) If it’s wrong for a ‘cult’ to forcibly change someone attitudes it’s just as wrong for ‘deprogrammers’ to do the same (and illegal)
              3) It does’nt work. Many people who were ‘deprogrammed’ returned to their ‘cult’ confirmed in the belief that the outside world was evil – unbeleivers kidnapped them, after all
              4) It was a lucrative business which attracted a lot of unprincipled people

The whole paradign was crude, ineffective, wrong and a PR gift to high-control groups. It’s better off left in the past, where it belongs.

            • Doc M

As I said in the post, I didn’t know if it was valid or not or if it’s as widespread as it was.

What you say makes sense but here is a question.

How do you get someone away from a cult as the brainwashing/conditioning is very real and very extreme.

Some have said that Since Tory could do it, anyone could, but I don’t believe that. Not everyone has the strength, physically and emotionally to fight it.

Maybe you just can’t with some people. The one thing I know from my profession and there is no question about this, the actual anatomy and physiology of the nervous system does go through physical changes, restructuring of neural circuitry etc.

              Any ideas?

            • My belief is that social pressure is an overlooked influence . People do not appreciate how powerful it is, especially in closed social envoronment like Scientology, where every effort is made to isolate people as quickly and thoroughly as possible.

This astonishing power is illustrated by two classic social psychology experiments performed by Milgram https://scicrit.wordpress.com/2014/05/03/understanding-the-scientology-mindset-pt-3-obedience-to-authority/ and Zimbado https://scicrit.wordpress.com/2014/05/05/understanding-the-scientology-mindset-part-4-power-corrupts-the-stanford-prison-experiment/

Not for nothing does Scientology work to persuade even the newest recruits to ‘disconnect’ from people who critisise the CofS. A wider perspective is fatal to belief in Scientology, which is inherently fragile, being so incredble.

I think that the best shot you have at ‘breaking the faith’ is to take the individual out of the closed social environment, feed them, allow them to get enough sleep, and give them time to think things through for themselves in a secure environment (exactly the opposite of ‘deprogramming’). Also, provide unjudgemental support.

Of course, this is exactly what Scientology will fight tooth and nail to prevent – something which supports my contention.

I know what you mean about neurological changes. I’ve read studies of the exensive changes which occur in the brains of London cab drivers who take ‘The knowledge’ (an incredibly difficult exam requiring them to know every nook and cranny of the capitals’ laberinthine road system). These occur when the acquire the knowledge, and also reserve when they retire.

The extemely repetitive nature of Scientology training must wear a groove in neuronal networks. I think of it as a PTSD where the intrusive thoughts and flashbacks originate not from a single traumatic event, but from this mind-bending repetition over many years.

This must militate against recovery… but I suspect that those who leave Scientology but do not recover owe this more to their failure to find a supportive social network for various other reasons as well. For example, people who leave the Sea Org after having joined at an an early age may have no meaningful education, no experiece of mainstream society, and a twisted idea of how to interact with other people.

When Scientology finally collapses, there are going to be a lot of people who have no idea how to function in wog society, and may even still be afraid of it. These are the people who may never get over their experience.

            • Doc M

Thanks for the in depth reply.

” I think that the best shot you have at ‘breaking the faith’ is to
take the individual out of the closed social environment, feed them,
allow them to get enough sleep, and give them time to think things

I think your comment above is very sad, but very realistic. As you said, there will be more than some who stay in until the end (and it’s pretty apparent at this time, that church will will end) and a large number of those will be lost and probably never undo the damage.

It is known now that neural circuity can be repaired, but it takes a very long time. Not all will be lucky to have a support system in place while they are going through this.

One of the topics brought up in today’s posts and in the past is: Are those in who have committed horrible acts responsible for these acts. Some say yes, others no and one posted a simple “just think Nuremberg Trials”.

I don’t buy the Nuremberg argument as those trials focused on the top level Nazi’s or the ones who caused the most deaths. Thus if there ever is such a trial, DM and very very top people might be held liable, but what about the others? It’s a tough question but how can you find the minions who are so thoroughly brainwashed responsible. I suppose this is a real question for psychologists and sociologists, but will ultimately be answered by politicians depending on the political climate at that time.

            • We are all responsible for our actions. We all make bad choices. The consequence are always with us, if nothing else and that often constitutes all of the punishment we need.

The question seems to be, should some people who stumbled into a toxic social situation be formally punished for what they did there, even though they now see it to have been wrong?

This seems to be bound up with the attitude that ‘I wouldn’t have behaved like that in the same circumstances’ . The experiments i mention elsewhere seem to question that assumption. The circumstances in which you are approached by Scientology are crucial, and the so the social situation once you are in.

I take more of a ‘ there but for the grace of god go I’ attitude.

“The Lucifer Effect’ a book by Zimbado, covers this question wery well.

            • Doc M

Karen – What is so stupid about what Scientology to try to create a black PR campaign against those who speak out the truth regarding their crimes…is that 99.9% of the population has sowed their wild oats and what Scientology, Inc and David “Black Heart Hussein” Miscavige does not realize – is that NO ONE CARES out here about anything Scientology has to say!! When you tell people – “Scientology put that on the internet” Wogs roll their eyes…everyone knows that Scientology is an evil cult thanks to some well known SP’s: Hurricane Leah, Tony O, Nancy Many, Jason Beghe, Tory Magoo, Jefferson Hawkins, Jon Atack, Lawrence Wright, Alex Gibney, Jenna Miscavige and soon to be Super Star Mr. Ron Miscavige Senior – DM’s DAD soon to come out with his new book “Let Him Die”….and remember epic breaking records of MILLIONS of people have seen “Going Clear”.

No worries Karen – we all have your back and know that you are an ethical person who has the courage to tell the World the TRUTH about Scientolog

    • daisy

I would be afraid they would call that a win.

    • Dave Reams

I wrote buffoonery, but after looking at a few of the “Who is …” cookie cutter sites, I don’t find any comic element to them. They are simply frothy mouthed incoherent hate filled ramblings that make me feel both pity and disgust for the sick person who wrote them.

  • Mockingbird

The attacks on Karen de la Carriere are pathetic and utterly immoral. But the refutation of them is child’s play: I could use long descriptions describing narcissists and sociopaths and their use of denial, projection and reversals or describe work from Robert Jay Lifton and Margaret Singer that explains how cults use character assassination on enemies routinely.

But those subjects are somewhat subjective and a skeptic or Hubbard apologist could say I am biased and using vague generalities without proof. I would disagree but three things compliment the other information quite well.

Examine the past of Ron Hubbard, the legal and criminal history of Scientology and the doctrine of Hubbard himself.

    Hubbard wrote:

“If attacked on some vulnerable point by anyone or anything or any organization, always find or manufacture enough evidence against them to cause them to sue for peace. Peace is bought with an exchange of advantage, so make the advantage and then settle. Don’t ever defend. Always attack. Don’t ever do nothing. Unexpected attacks in the rear of the enemies’ front ranks work best.”

Hubbard, HCOPL, Dept of Govt Affairs, 15 August 1960.

This was reportedly changed by the Scientology cult as follows:

“If attacked on some vulnerable point by anyone or anything or any organization, always find or manufacture enough threat against them to cause them to sue for peace. Peace is bought with an exchange of advantage, so make the advantage and then settle. Don’t ever defend. Always attack. Don’t ever do nothing. Unexpected attacks in the rear of the enemies’ front ranks work best.”

“Manufacture enough evidence” is the key.

Scientology manufactures evidence against enemies. A person going up against Scientology should know Scientology doctrine very well, understanding your enemy may save your life, sanity and reputation.

These attacks have gained my attention, but not in the way Scientology intended. In addition to my posts on Why Lying And Murder Are Justified In Scientology and Scientology’s Dirtbag Lawyers I now believe Scientology’s Public Relations Campaigns are due for attention and lots of it.

Hubbard made it easy to find, if you have a few decades of cult indoctrination to recall and know that every dirty trick, every underhanded, low down, dishonest, dishonorable, abusive and criminal action undertaken by Scientologists is part of the practice of Scientology itself.

Hubbard required these acts, he demanded them and sought to enslave people into zealots and fanatics who would act with no hesitation, no sympathy, no regrets and no human emotions and reactions to interfere with Hubbard’s authority and control.

Always appreciate your insight, and your sharing of your ‘since’ readings and how those sources can inform thinking about what is so hard to comprehend for us never-ins. Thank you, always, Mockingbird.

Happy Valentines day to you and your family.

      • Mockingbird

Thank you. The support of so many people of varying backgrounds is appreciated and helpful. Ultimately never ins are needed to help ex Scientologists recover and reenter society and also to protect people from Scientology and bring on the ultimate downfall of the cult.

Scientology has tremendous difficulties in gaining new members and even retaining a fraction of its former size. It cannot influence the outside world as it is exposed to a population warned of the danger it contains. By putting in the effort to understand Scientology people volunteer to be an effective firewall against the spread of Scientology’s insidious and pernicious influence. Miscavige cannot out maneuver, out number or out flank EVERYONE who puts in the time and effort to understand Scientology. Together many with conscience will eventually win over Miscavige, Hubbard’s legacy and a few others without any.

It was before Aids and After the Pill.. What in the hell did people THINK we were doing? Good Lord.. It was an amazing time in history.. Studio 54?.. ( OK.. now that was debauchery.. just sayin) but as a Bartender during that period? Amazing times..

AND WE HAD A BLAST.. I will have memories to take to my nursing home that will make me smile. And I will make a list of my ” Hookups” back then.. if I can remember their names..

I know one guy had a black hat on and was really tall..( type list)

            • jazzlover

What is a Sicilian accent? 😉 Let’s go all SAT for a minute: Sicily is to Italy as Cyprus is to Greece 🙂

            • Doc M

you did get “The Godfather” reference, didn’t you?

            • jazzlover

I did, but I want to tell you a story. I don’t subscribe to this way of thinking because I don’t believe in labeling people based on their ethnicity. I will tell you that most decent and hard working Italians who came here years ago not only disassociated themselves from the Mafia, but also from Sicilians. Aside from the fact that not all Mafioso was Sicilian to begin with, those Italians simply didn’t consider Sicilians to be “real” Italians. Similarly, Greeks did not consider Cypriots to be “real” Greeks. Both groups were looked down upon, similar to how gypsies have been throughout history. Not totally unrelated, I had a good friend in high school whose father was Turkish and mother was Greek. Imagine how conflicted he was 🙂 I still, to this day, refuse to discuss the origins of Baklava with a Turk or a Greek. LOL

            • Doc M

I don’t know if this is a joke, but in case you’re serious, the godfather reference had nothing to do with you being Italian, but it was a response to your post of crying when we were throwing NY stuff at each other.

That line could have been directed at anyone, regardless of ethnicity. It’s become part of the american lexicon.

As for Baklava, the best I ever ate was in Jordon.

            • jazzlover

No, I know it had nothing to do with ME being Italian. I got the reference, and I just wanted to point out that there’s no such thing as a Sicilian accent. The point of my story (maybe too long-winded) was that it’s all the same. Add to that that we like busting each other’s chops because we share an understanding of what it’s like to grow up New York 🙂 We’re good, and I was just goofing with you. As you know, in New York, when you make the effort to do that with someone, it’s a sign of “hey, that person’s pretty OK”. So shattuppauface 🙂

I have always believed that baklava was more middle eastern than Greek, so what you say doesn’t really surprise me. It might shock you, but it is my favorite dessert.

            • Doc M

Ok, i should have said dialect instead of accent.

Does anyone know what org or mission Mark Ingel is associated with.

Mark has given concise well crafted OSAesque runaround language to a parent concerned her 17 year old son is unduely being recruited into a neighboring Santa Cruz, CA area org or mission.

Advice at this point on finding which org this young man is being recruited to, and raising a stink for the Scientology DSA/OSA people who do all the thinking for the members who aren’t bainwashed enough yet to withstand parental sensible talking.

To be honest, if it were all entirely true I really couldn’t care less about someone having been/currently being a sex worker. Doesn’t mean you can’t be a kind, wise person with something important to say. Which Karen clearly is. They really seem to be living in a fantasy land- do they think that people really believe them? Don’t they know that Scientology public must feel awkward, uncomfortable and embarrassed, even if they say nothing aloud? I wish all Scientologists would just drop it already. Just save your money, enjoy your life, and treasure your family. That’s all you get in this lifetime. If the next universe is really that incredible, there’s nothing you could do in this mundane one to improve the next anyway.

It’s laughable that the CO$ tries this sort of accusation and character assassination to try to discredit Karen, when, for example, John Travolta walks among their members… those incriminating photos plastered across the internet, and not a peep from CO$. Morality only matters when they are trying to use it as a weapon… and unfortunately for them, morality comes with a mirror, simply reflecting their lack of morality back on themselves.

    Karen,

You are a ‘portrait of courage’. You have faced so much trauma, unfathomable amounts of trauma, at the hands of this organization. Yet here you stand – sharing insights and understanding into the wildly unthinkable policies, stories, histories, giving a record. And when the next insane move is made against you – intending to punish, demoralize, dehumanize, and silence you – you stand again and expose the move made rather than be shut down in fear, or mortification.

Nietzsche asked if it is better to be feared or admired/loved. Co$ delivers superficial love-bombing in the ‘honeymoon’ phase, then operates by inducing fear. (Or was that question asked by Machiavelli?)

You, who have lost the biggest loss possible due to the policies/practices of Co$, operate by inspiring admiration (to those outside of the bubbles/tentacles of the Co$.) You stand as an example of the answer to the question. You have credibility with local officials who repeatedly find the complaints – empty (and ridiculous.) You have a larger audience that you inform – and to whom you share the ridiculous moves made by Co$, than the size of active members of Co$.

You exemplify dignity. In the face of a storm of ignoble actions by Co$, it is amazing that you are able to continue to stand, shine light, and fight back. Count me as one of the multitude that holds you in great admiration. (And who admires your husband’s work as well – can’t leave him out.) Happy Valentine’s Day to you both.

    • Tracy Schmitz

just saw this on tv… incredible that that world STILL defends, respects, admires and likes the man (tc)… what does he have to do murder someone, but more importantly start tanking big time at the box office for these people “hollywood” to get a clue or a spine?!… they ALL know and have heard at least the stories, the rumors… i suspect some HAVE seen going clear, and they surely know of it at the very least! and yet? why because “he’s so nice to little ole me? he’s such a nice guy on a film set and a hard worker, and whatever he’s involved in he and they hasn’t done anything to little ole me!…interesting to see spielberg and his wife and knowing the alleged throwdown that went on between those 3 a few years ago… i will say though at least it seemed to me that the applause WAS tepid at best?….

      • I said this in the comments earlier:

“what was interesting was that he wasn’t in the seats with all the other actors…. all the other nominees and presenters were there and DiCaprio sat with his mother…. guess tiny tommy couldn’t find anyone to sit next to him (incidentally, what ever happened to his mother?, ed)”

        • daisy

This is not the first time. He has given out Oscars to people and often never sat in the audience. I think he sat in the seats once with Nicole when he was nominated for Born on the fourth of July.

      • Sejanus

Yea it has even turned me off when guys like Simon Pegg go on about how great he is.
Makes me sick to my stomach.

        • Tracy Schmitz

i agree! i like simon pegg but his constant fawning over cruise IS sickening! and why? well because he’s so nice to me personally and great to work with and never has brought up his “religion” to me? so that’s it simon, it’s all good for you, as long as it’s about how he treats YOU, then nothing (and seemingly no one) else matters huh? i remember someone asking him about tc and he was quoted as something like of all the time i have spent with him knowing him working with him now for years he has never once brought up scientology.. HMM? i have a good idea simon why not YOU bring it up to HIM!..i mean he’s such a good friend, surely he wouldn’t mind answering a few questions even if those questions are to find answers! a true friend is a true friend right?
oh wait, ole simon is just too busy to know what is going in and what scientology is all about right? or is it the excuse of “hey, it’s none of my business, what his religion is.. (or does or is all about!)…..so basically tc has to do something bad to him personally and even then in that “world” of backstabbing, hypocrisy and butt kissing to the moon and back they all stick together…

pegg is just about as bad if not WORSE then the defenders of cruise on the internet and why defend tc? because tc is good looking, or makes good movies and i like them, or who cares what his religion is, he hasn’t done anything bad to me or wrong to anyone we know of.. all religions are bad and blah, blah, blah..you know simplistic selfish self absorbed reasons and excuses…. pegg quote “knows” cruise and still fawns over him.. why not say nothing? why fawn over him?…

what’s next for pegg and others? hey, he’s the “silent partner” of the kkk or westboro baptist or radical islam, but hey, he’s really cool to me and i love working with him, so it’s all good because he never mentions what he is involved in?..sorry but a TRUE friend will tell his TRUE friend the Truth and friendship be damned… then again perhaps pegg is a celeb friend to cruise, not a real friend and scared shitless of tc?..

          • Sejanus

Agreed. Plus being chummy with Unifang allows Pegg to know there will always be work for him. Tragically it all comes down to being able to make money.

  • The more i read about this very Cult and books about other Cults, the more i get this picture that they are very, very primitive in nature. That is also why i think it is very hard to understand why they are doing what they are doing. Like the Mafia, they play on the lowest denominators of all things and on a level where one really have to bend his thinking to kindergarten Levels, only to find that Scientologist are still playing Doctors!

    • MaxSpaceman

Not really, Dice- you’re misreading them.

It’s actually the opposite. What they’ve got – to them – is so millions of light years more advanced than anything you have ever thought in your reactive mind, as to be an absurd comparison; to them.

Ron Hubbard’s stuff – to them – proved to them in their bones by the E-meter, is spiritual eternity delivered simply by paying your way up their Bridge.

      BE-YOU-TI-FUL!

      • Baby

Curtsies.. One of my favorites.. It was a consignment piece for a gentleman to present the night he was getting engaged.. A gift to his Girlfriend.

So I was on a Time Frame … His ” Fiance ” wrote me a beautiful Thank you note.. It has always been special to me Jazz.. But it was a Bitch to paint.

        • jazzlover

Yeah, I can tell that you had to put some serious precision into that. I might even say that you took less time to finish it than anybody would’ve had a right to expect. It is gorgeous, Baby, and it sounds like it had the intended effect 🙂 Otherwise, I’m guessing the fiance wouldn’t have bothered to write to you.

          • Baby

It was displayed on an Easel at the Wedding.. I was so touched.. I think he was from NY,,

He was a dream to work for.. He said ” Could you paint a HUGE canvas with a poem on it with like a garden of wild flowers here and there with a colorful sky..

I said sure.. Then I got the damn Poem.. hahaha.. I love it, but never dreamed it would be so many words.. I begged my husband to do the words and he said. ” NOPE..I’m afraid to screw it up..”

So he said.. ” You can screw it up yourself..” ha

            • jazzlover

LOL. You done good. No screw ups that I can see. And that poem is pretty damn profound, too. Good choice! (except for the extra work caused by the length, of course)

            • Baby

The screw up came when I took a picture of it for making prints and slanted it a hair.. didn’t notice until I got the prints back.. but just a slight tilt.. Pfffffffffft

Rilke notes to a student are very profound.. thank you..

Amen Jazz.. My motto too.. The Canvas was great.. I asked if I could make prints and he said yes.. So the downloading print that you see is just slightly slanted..

              I can live with it.. ; D

Hahahhaha I wish I would have thought of that Jimmy.. I had to use a straight edge and thought stencils would work perfect.. but ugh.. just a mess.. each word took about an hr. And I would stop and paint a flower or a piece of the sky..

I just couldn’t go back to the letters.. and I kept screwing them up with the spaces and the slanting.. Bleh..

I earned every penny on that one.. ( Lots of pennies..!!!) xo baby

Anybody want to take bets on how much longer it’s gonna be before Cruise has to go into hiding in Outer Mongolia? He has to stay in scientology because that’s where all his remaining fans are. Sad.

      • MaxSpaceman

        Dude- you’re kidding, right?

He has millions of fans alone in China, and add the rest of the world, not America, and with nearly $700 million global for M I 5, 65% of those individual tickets were by foreign territory fans.

Maybe you were meaning all his remaining people that would call him “Sir!” as his Scilon staff, and all the people who would hurray him in Ruth Eckhart Hall or Shrine Auditorium for an event. Yes, well, then, that would be reason to stay in; there are no others.

But fans– he’s flush with those without Scientology.

      • Jimmy3

I follow a bunch of movie media… podcasts and YouTube shows and shit like that… And pretty much everyone still loves Tom Cruise as an action movie star. People still want to see him in blockbuster movies. I know that’s not popular around here, but it’s true. People like Mission Impossible. They could keep making those for a long while.

        • jazzlover

I was being facetious, of course. It just seems like more and more are poking fun at his ridiculousness. I’m sure, as you say, that his fans still outnumber those who make fun of him so easily and publicly now.

          • Jimmy3

I’m gonna word clear the hell out of “facetious”

            • jazzlover

        • Intergalactic Walrus
        • Kay

I agree with you…people still do like him as an action star, and until he gets too decrepit looking to pull that off, I think they will stay pretty loyal to him as his fans.

      • Intergalactic Walrus

He got Chinese financing for the last Mission Impossible and they couldn’t care less what cult he is in. That is unless it were to promote democracy and human rights in China. We all know there is no chance of that happening with the CO$…

        • jazzlover

LOL. Is he even American anymore? 😉

          • Intergalactic Walrus

Hmm… Maybe he had that bad plastic surgery done in Asia too. Or by the looks of it, maybe a local Benihana? 😉

            • jazzlover

I don’t really get why he did it in the first place. Bad advice? A line on his face he couldn’t deal with?

    • I had a few tweeters have a go at me for my Cruise snark … each time I just went into my archives and tweeted them pics… the more they tweeted the more I posted…. they gave up… here’s a pic of my feed to give you an idea

      • Intergalactic Walrus

He’s just adorable there in the glasses! HA! Ya gotta love folks who get all worked up over celebrities! They probably think they are in the running to be wife #4 and need to defend him. But then I’ve named all 6 of my kids Elvis (even the girls) so I probably shouldn’t talk! LOL

Here’s a photo you might like – now does this look like a husband that would be skulking around a bathhouse?

What are the odds that he is at the Oscars again – for the third year in a row? And if so, will he be able to out-creep his previous appearances?

            • I would be surprised …. especially as people love the OJ story apart from him…, his “acting” rep is taking a hammering…..anyway, I remember when I first posted this on my old blog that I managed to find some quotes about the article from zum frenchies where the general consensus was he was 100% gay… this was in the early/mid 70’s where he apparently toured France as a professional dancer [it’s quite a well known route to get Equity cards and the US equivalent]… the gist I got was how this part of his ‘showbiz profile’ disappeared.. go figure

      • Baby

I love Bales’ the best Lush..

“Director Mary Harron said in an interview that during the pre-production phase, the actor had watched an episode of Late Night with David Letterman in which Tom Cruise was featured. Bale noticed something in Cruise’s manner that he thought would work for his character of preppy psychopath Patrick Bateman.

“It was definitely a process. [Bale and I] talked a lot, but he was in L.A. and I was in New York. We didn’t actually meet in person a lot, just talked on the phone. We talked about how Martian-like Patrick Bateman was, how he was looking at the world like somebody from another planet, watching what people did and trying to work out the right way to behave. And then one day he called me and he had been watching Tom Cruise on David Letterman, and he just had this very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes, and he was really taken with this energy.”

Once one knows that, it’s almost impossible not to see Cruise in some of Bateman’s cheesy yet manic grins and exceptionally animated quips.” From Neatorama

        • Ella Raitch

I wonder if that was the interview where Cruise was laughing about a passenger in the plane he was in losing consiousness through lack of oxygen.

      • I’ve often thought that once we pass the tipping point where broadcasters can openly make dramas about scientology that it will become like Star Trek… there’ll be a terrific first series [HBO – super secret pre-production] but more and more amazing stuff will be revealed over the years that it will trigger inevitable spin-offs… the general public will be subject to such fantastic stories [over and beyond the 1st series] that the demand will continually rise… I’d love for the ‘Breaking Bad’ guys to be in charge of this

  • And before I retire for the day, a heartfelt thanks to Tony and the Bunker.

Thank you for your kindness and support.

      • OTVIIIisGrrr8!

Coming this summer from ASI Toys Inc: The COB molded plastic action figure with a pompadour that conceals a laser death beam.

        • Ella Raitch

Hey – maybe that’s where he hides all the secret account details

We need a series – 101 COB uses for a pompadour

          • Ella Raitch

In COB’s pompadour…(Derek and Clive fans may be particularly good at this)
            1. laser death beam
            2. Swiss bank account numbers and passwords
            3. Mercurochrome (for when he beats staff)
            4. Go-pro camera (dual purpose with the death beam) for recording terrified reactions of staff and those meaningful gazes from Tom for COB to get his rocks off later
            5. Tiny MP3 player with Thank You for Listening and other classics for the eccelsiastical leader on the go
            6. Burner phone changed daily linked to the most nefarious PIs
            7. Kim Jong-Un fan club membership card (no 1 of course)
            8. Box of disposable rubber gloves (so he doesn’t get his fingerprints on anything)

        • Newiga

Are the copper ground rods included in the package or sold separately?

      • it’s those brilliant Taiwanese animators…. here’s a better grab to give you an idea [Miscavige on the right]

      • richelieu jr

It is clear that they know more than they report, as well- Very sophisticated how they include the story of Tom’s dream of he and Nicole prancing through the daffodils becoming marching orders from the mouth of Miscavige forcing SeaOrg drones to plant flowers in the desert–

Bonus points for the reverse chronology, so we see the planting happening AFTER the prancing, etc.. And all in the background of the ‘main story’… LOVE IT!

    • jazzlover

To the bat cave, Alfred! LOL

  • Baby

Night all.. f5 It’s been real.. Great Post Tony.. Karen thank you for everything you and Jeff do to educate what Scientology is capable of doing.. Cockroaches scatter when the lights on.. f5 night

  • littlefish

The IG Karen mentions in her video is hysterical and sad all at the same time. Hysterical because it is sooooooooooooooo “bad at the internet” and sad because some poor automaton has to create a new bullshit post every few days that literally only one follower sees. 47x, eh dave?

My fav tweet is the one about how TC has the potential to take plastic surgery to the extreme and that the person is very much looking forward to the outcome. Lmao.

        XD

Speaking of Isaac Hayes, I noticed this on eBay – a letter for sale from his estate. The IAS thanking him for a $2000 donation. Thanks to “that fruity little club for scrambling his brains”: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ISAAC-HAYES-DONATION-LETTERS-Isaac-Hayes-Estate-/191800729862?hash=item2ca836e106:m:m99sWBAgBSulBEZdKXRMjnQ

I wonder if IAS “Administrations” is yet another legally separate body.
        ETA: I guess so….http://www.iasadministrations.net

        • 9001

IASAdministrations is the “doing business as” name for Membership Services Administration Ltd and International Membership Services Administration, N.V.
          J. Swift has posted Don Carlo’s research into them here

          • Juicer77

Hey, you 🙂 I have travel questions. Can you email me when you get a chance? I am out running errands but will be around later. Thx!

            • 9001

              Done 🙂

      • I always thought that the ‘Chef Adventure Club’ South Park episode was way more scathing against scientology than the ‘Trapped in the Closet’ one… it was pretty much an homage to him…. wish the general media picked up on it

        • Intergalactic Walrus

Yeah, it’s absolutely more caustic. South Park went from the CO$ being “Trapped in the Closet” to being pedophiles. It’s hard go much further than that.

          • if you remember the episode it was quite remarkable how ‘The Adventure Club” turned him into this but all of the ‘pedophile’ crap was in a deliberate spliced together robot voice…. there has to be a massive story behind this… read my other comments about how a scientology series would turn into a Star Trek Franchise…anyway… ciao for now!

        • Yean, more scathing, but too deep for the general public to get the references.

    • Ha ha. The comment about looking more like Renee Zellweger than Renee Zellweger reminds me of Martin Short’s line to David Letterman:
“Dave, you’re looking so boyish I thought you were k.d. lang.”

  • very last post….

#BAFTA #Scientology so you know who they’re comparing #TomCruise to?

    pic

    • Intergalactic Walrus

Oh, no! Tom’s bad plastic surgery is making even Travolta wince…

    • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

Oh, no! I love Sandi Toksvig, but there’s no denying the resemblance.

      • Ella Raitch

Uncanny. I wonder how Sandi feels about the resemblance.

  • Dave Reams

“Karen de la Carriere: Scientology is smearing me again, and this time is hitting below the belt”
On the bright side, when David Miscavige throws punches they land below the knee. David Miscavige behaves like a dog humping your leg and leaving oozing slime on your pants – he’s a disguisting pig of a person.

    • Dave ~~ they just cannot stop. That is why David Miscavige has a restraining order on him.

      • Dave Reams

How long is this TRO in effect for?

How was it established that the “Squirrel Busters” had any “legal” connection to Scientology?

  • ithilien

Why hate on he OSA? arent they just victims of brainwashing who should be exempt from personal responsibility?

Last time i mentioned ‘personal responsibility’ i had techie shove hubbards words down my throat, and was shamed by the words of jesus Christ himself. So which is it? People who get out are given a pass for previous acts because they were brainwashed, and science proves it THDNE, but people who stay are vile and evil and responsible for their behavior.

    • You are mixing apples and oranges… OSA is an entity run by draconian policies. It’s not a person. So it’s a natural response for people to accept the current contributions of good from those individuals whose past efforts were to enslave and suppress – or allow by tactic consent as one being a part of that entity ( and it’s earlier name Guardian’s Office ). Helping to expose what the church is and has been doing, helping others who are leaving to become enlightened to any degree, these are examples of change. Personal responsibility comes as one sees and accepts what one has done but often the insight comes as the person peels away the layers of the mindset, not unlike peeling the layers of an onion. Try not to think in black and white terms on this.

  • Fink Jonas

I forgot what the reason to give out your Overts was, but obviously it only benefited the church of scientology with that beautiful invention to collect material to black mail their own members, I didn’t knew the word overt till I got involved in the cult I knew about sins and I thought it was a similar concept, they hate Jesus, but at least in the Jesus church they don’t use your sins in such a degraded way as the church of scientology does by displaying them on the web, so when they tell you, that the church of scientology is just like any other church remember they are lying and “anybody who lies to you trys to control you” and that is from the horses mouth LRH himself. Thank you and have a good day.

    • This is true. Confessional data is used against members if they leave and speak out. Meanwhile the word “Scientology” becomes toxic and radio active.

  • Susan B.

Karen, I’ll state the obvious (as usual): you don’t deserve to be treated this way. You’ve done sooooo much good work raising consciousness about the cult.

  • Sir Derf

Does this mean that the Scientology criminals are now free and open to resume their racketeering harassment? Does this lift any restraining orders against the violent crooks?

  • Scream Nevermore

Can’t the ‘church’ be sued by Karen or Justin over this?

  • Hilarious how websites like this one continues to drop truth bombs to the world about Scientology, and Scientology’s “confront and shatter” response? To act like teenagers with name calling and other defamatory antics. What an absolute joke and a far cry from their litigious, bullying of the early 1990’s.
