For several weeks, one of the stories that’s going to be featured on the third season of Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath has been spinning out of control on social media, and at this point, especially after the last couple of days, it’s impossible to ignore what’s going on.
A young woman who goes by “Z” on Twitter has been very publicly fighting with her mother about her claims of being molested as a child by a Scientologist, and about her decision to leave the church and appear on Leah’s show.
We’re sure the episode itself is going to be powerful stuff, but at this point Z is putting out some explosive claims on social media that we can’t turn away from.
There was this tweet yesterday, for example….
As well as this text exchange which Z herself posted to Twitter. Her statements are in green, her mother’s in white…
Z also tweeted recently that she’s been through a divorce. But other details about who she is will have to wait for her appearance on Leah Remini’s show, which is scheduled to return to the air beginning August 15.
Given Scientology’s responses to ‘Aftermath’ episodes in the past, we won’t be surprised if Z’s mother ends up in a church video denouncing her own daughter.
[NOTE: A previous version of this story contained more details about Z’s background, but we’ve held those back at her request. See our correction here, 2nd item.]
