Stacy Francis goes to Washington: Are we witnessing another Scientology political op?

We’ve been watching Scientologist singer Stacy Francis for a long time. At the Voice, we covered a controversy over the stories she was telling about herself in order to become an X-Factor contestant. It was obvious even then that for years she had downplayed her extensive connection to Scientology when it suited her, and that she was someone who would turn on just about anyone if it meant advancing her “career.”

Since then, we’ve watched as she became an attack dog for the church against her former close friend Leah Remini, and in a 2013 article Mike Rinder laid out some fascinating background on how that relationship blew apart.

From serenading Tom Cruise aboard the Freewinds in 2004, to feting Louis Farrakhan at the Celebrity Centre in 2006, to attacking Leah Remini in 2013, Stacy has a very colorful history of advancing Scientology’s interests while crying and caterwauling her way for the cameras.

But now, she suddenly has a new role we just had to tell you about: Politics!

With Joy Villa’s political ambitions running into such trouble, perhaps it was only natural that David Miscavige would assign another quasi-celebrity to take a run at the current administration in power.

But heck, we’ll let Stacy herself explain why she found herself singing to the Faith and Freedom Coalition earlier this month…

I was honored to come to Washington DC to sing the National Anthem for The President and top government officials. I must admit I am not very savvy when it comes to politics. And the idea of coming here for some people would definitely not be appealing. However, I love this organization because they fight for religious freedom and as you will read below they fight for life and for the needy. And I have come to love them for the great work that they are doing with the President. I can no longer be on the fence when it comes to President Trump so I had to come here to see for myself and learn for myself without the influence of the media. I did not understand the left and the right. Or what it means to be liberal. I am simply someone who wants to see the Country in a better condition. And since unemployment is at its lowest and tax reform is so beneficial I am very happy with the work the government is currently doing. I had to learn about the House of Representatives and the Senate. And how they vote for certain bills. And how the President makes decisions because the media would force us to believe that he is a tyrant or some dictator. But I had the amazing opportunity to meet some incredible people who are working side by side with the administration helping to make some amazing changes. One man in particular named Greg Mitchell who worked for 8 years on the prison reform bill that just got passed by the House. I am so honored to know him. He also works hard each day to fight for religious freedom. He and his wife Renee are incredible people who are working hard to help America each day. The history of this City is really incredible. So not only did I get to share my gift but I was driven through the City by a genius named Dr. Paul Coyer a professor at Yale University and taught great history lessons about the government buildings and I had a chance to learn more about politics and get the truth about how well this President is running the country. Dr. Coyer is working hard each day as well with Mr. Mitchell and the administration to make great changes for our Country. I really look forward to coming back to work with this Organization again and have the greatest desire to sing at the White House for our President as a gift to him for all the hard work he is doing to help America be great again.

Mitchell is a Scientologist and lobbyist. Joy Villa identified him as someone who was helping to shape her political ambitions. And we’re glad to see that at 49, Stacy has learned that there’s a Senate and a House of Representatives that pass legislation in this country. Better late than never, we suppose.

Besides singing the anthem, Stacy also belted out this number. We’ll let you tell us whether she made the most of her debut for the political set. Can she give Joy Villa a run for her money and find a way into the Trump White House?

HOWDYCON IS UPON US!

Hey, we’re just two days from this year’s HowdyCon in Chicago, June 21-23. Here’s what we have in store for you…

Thursday evening: At 6 pm, we’ll kick things off at our main hotel (see the website), where Chee Chalker, our coordinator, will be checking you in and handing out packets of information about the location of HowdyCon events and other things to do in town. That evening, Author Alec Nevala-Lee joins us for a casual round of discussion. We’ve read his forthcoming book, Astounding: John W. Campbell, Isaac Asimov, Robert A. Heinlein, L. Ron Hubbard, and the Golden Age of Science Fiction, and it has some wonderful insights about how Hubbard moved from the pulps to Dianetics. Take this opportunity to get to know him and hear about his book before it makes waves in October!

Friday afternoon: Friday is Fly Day at HowdyCon Chicago! Our buzzing insect can only join us for this event, so plan to hang out with us. Bring your own LEGOs.

Saturday evening: Our big event this year features Chicago Fire actor Christian Stolte, who tells us he’s cooking up a good show for us. It takes place in a theater, and you need to reserve a seat by dropping a note to the proprietor at tonyo94 AT gmail as soon as possible.
