Scientology may be shrinking, but Rod Keller points out that at least its commends are expanding! It’s time again for Rod’s Scientology Social Media Review. He’s made a specialty of hunting down the odd and wonderful things Scientologists post to the ‘net. He’s a chronicler who piece by piece builds a highly detailed assessment of what Scientology is doing around the world, and this is what he found for us this week…
Scientologists are being urged to save the dates of May 21st and May 28th for the opening of the Budapest Ideal Org in Hungary. The building is the former headquarters of Pentair, a manufacturer of heating cables and valves, and is within a block of the Danube River on the west side of the city.
Los Topos rescue workers and other Scientology Volunteer Ministers continued to work in earthquake-stricken Ecuador this week. Below, Los Topos receive thanks from the deputy mayor of Guayaquil, Doménica Tabacchi. Bottom photo, the team meets television personality Luzmila Nicolalde.
The Foundation for a Drug-Free World holds monthly dance parties at the new headquarters on Fort Harrison Ave. in Clearwater, Florida. They need a new I/C, or “In-Charge” for the events, which target students at three local Scientology-run schools, as well as Countryside High School, a public school in the Northern part of the city. As with all Scientology posts, it comes with a “stat,” which is a measure that needs to increase in order to remain in good standing. In this case, it’s total attendees.
Scientologists distributed anti-drug literature from the Foundation for a Drug-Free World at the annual food and wine festival in Halls Gap in Victoria, Australia this week.
An anti-drug literature event in San Francisco at the landmark Ferry Building.
At the Sunscreen Film Festival in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Outside the National Assembly building in San Jose, Costa Rica.
And at the International Book Fair of Bogota, Colombia.
Scientology distributed literature for the Narconon drug treatment program this week in the Islington neighborhood of London.
Scientologist and founder of the front group Youth for Human Rights Dr. Mary Shuttleworth visited Johannesburg, South Africa this week, and met with Bishop Dr. Chidiebere Ogbu, who is a self-ordained non-denominational minister. They will be co-hosting the Youth for Human Rights International Conference in Pretoria on May 27th. The group visited Mandela House, a small museum and restaurant dedicated to the memory of former President Nelson Mandela.
ODD is a non-ideal org in Mexico City, and their next event to raise money for renovations has a Peter Pan theme, with the invitation lifted from Pan, the Motion Picture. The event includes food, dancing and karaoke. “A Great Adventure. Dreams Do Come True.”
Non-Scientologist Jessica Vines receives occasional letters from Scientology since her school visited an org in 1993.
