The cats are curled tight against the chill down here in the Bunker as we dive into another winter, and they’ve become awfully vocal lately about the treats schedule. (They’re fanatical about observing the seasons properly, even if the conditions don’t really call for it. The calendar might say it’s winter, it’s true, but it’s been practically tropical in New York this December. Thanks, Obama.)

By now you’ve probably heard the news that actor Nicolas Cage is giving back to the nation of Mongolia a stolen Tyrannosaurus bataar skull he bought at an auction in 2007. It’s the latest shoe to drop after a notorious broker, Eric Prokopi, pleaded guilty in 2012 to illegally importing fossils from Mongolia and China.

Compton scam rehab clinic definitely a Church of Scientology operation, witnesses say

Yesterday, we revealed that the operators of a Scientology rehab clinic in Compton, California are facing felony charges for defrauding the state Medi-Cal program. The charges come after an investigation by the state’s Bureau of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse which has lasted more than a year and also caught up three prominent educators in the Compton Unified School District, who lost their jobs as a result.

Australian media outs Scientologist behind ‘super city’ plans near Melbourne

We want to thank our friends Down Under, who sent us news early this morning about an intriguing story breaking in Melbourne. Aussie publication The Age has revealed that there are plans for a “super city” development in a suburb west of town known as East Werribee, a massive development that will include huge residential towers and an educational hub featuring overseas universities. It’s meant to be an innovation hub built from scratch and flourishing in 20 or 30 years.
