We just got word from Phil and Willie Jones. Their second “Call Me” billboard just went up in Largo, Florida, bringing attention to Scientology’s “disconnection” policy just a few miles from where the church has its international spiritual “mecca” in the town of Clearwater.
They had previously posted a similar billboard in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, and it garnered a huge amount of press interest. The billboard is at the southwest corner of East Bay and 20th St. SE, and faces west.
Phil and Willie will be holding a dedication ceremony at this location on Saturday, and we want to hear from you if you go.
We have a feeling that Scientology leader David Miscavige is not happy about this billboard going up near a town that the church bullies at every opportunity. And judging by the last-minute attempts to derail the billboard, we would imagine that Scientologists will be instructed to keep away from this intersection.
And we just got this statement from Phil…
We’re very excited. There are so many people in the Clearwater area who have been affected by Scientology disconnection and I hope this message brings their situation into the public eye. The support for this project has been overwhelming. Love will win out over Scientology’s abusive practice. The official launch is at 11am this coming Saturday and I hope there are lots of people who come out to join us. We’re so happy that Clear Channel stuck by us also. They’ve been terrific. We have some good things coming up. I hope it all culminates in the end of Scientology disconnection.
More details when we get them. In the meantime, please see this morning’s earlier post for a look at the trailer for Louis Theroux’s My Scientology Movie.
