Chapter by chapter, the best parts of Leah Remini’s book ‘Troublemaker’

CPsimFOUsAAbTeg

Last week, we revealed the contents of numerous “Knowledge Reports” — spying dispatches — that Scientologists submitted about Leah Remini, and which form the basis for some of the most important parts of her new book coming out tomorrow, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology. We were careful, at that time, just to stick to the parts of the book that were related to what was in the KRs, which we had obtained some time ago.

Now, with just a day to go before publication, we’re going to talk a little more about just some of the things we found to be important in the rest of this landmark book.

Jonny Jacobsen: Reflecting on the first week of Scientology’s criminal trial in Belgium

Jonny_jacobsen_tony_ortega2We asked our man in Paris, Jonny Jacobsen, to give us some thoughts from his notebook about his first week covering Scientology’s criminal trial in Brussels. (That’s him with your proprietor this July.) Here’s his attempt to catch us up on what’s been happening…

Just recovering from the first week’s coverage of the trial and trying to gather my thoughts before diving into the next piece.

Jon Atack: The ‘Axioms’ — L. Ron Hubbard’s attempt to make Scientology sound ‘sciencey’

Jon_AtackJon Atack is the author of A Piece of Blue Sky, one of the very best books on L. Ron Hubbard and Scientology. He has a new edition of the book for sale, and for more than a year on Saturdays he helped us sift through the legends, myths, and contested facts about Scientology that tend to get hashed and rehashed in books, articles, and especially on the Internet. He was kind enough to send us a new post.

The axioms! Thank you, Jon, for bringing them up. We have been derelict in taking a closer look at them. We’re very interested in your thoughts on Hubbard’s “self-evident truths.”

Troublemakers: The women who won’t keep quiet about Scientology

TroubleWomenFour

We’re just back from what turned out to be an incredible day here in Adelaide. Not only was it a big day here at the Underground Bunker with our big Leah Remini scoop, but we also had an event to put on here in this South Australian capital, and it was great. Our thanks to Bryan Seymour and Nick Xenophon for helping us put on a fun show at “The Wheaty,” the funky entertainment space at the Wheatsheaf Hotel. And now, for the real capper to our day…

THE LEAH REMINI FILES: AN EXCLUSIVE LOOK AT THE ‘KRs’ THAT INFORM HER MEMOIR

CPsimFOUsAAbTeg

On Friday, Leah Remini will provide a glimpse of her explosive tell-all, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, with an hour-long interview on ABC’s 20/20. The book itself comes out officially four days later, on November 3.

But today, the Underground Bunker has an exclusive that not even Remini’s book reveals: In-depth looks at the “Knowledge Reports” (also known as “KRs”) written by Scientologists who informed on Remini as The King of Queens star began her doubts about Scientology in 2006 and then left it for good in 2013.

Scientology cries religious discrimination in appeal brief filed in Maryland zoning fight

TroutRunIn June, Scientology suffered an embarrassing defeat courtesy of the Frederick County Council in Maryland. You probably remember the drama as the council denied Scientology’s request that a 40-acre parcel of land it had purchased in 2013, known as “Trout Run,” be put on the county’s list of historic places. Why did Scientology care that a decrepit fish camp in rural Maryland be designated a historic site? Because it wants to turn the place into a tiny, 20-bed drug rehab group home for its Narconon network, and the only way it can get the zoning it needs is through the parcel being put on the list of historic locations.

Jon Atack: Scientology’s ‘past lives’ don’t pass the giggle test

He was kind enough to send us a new post.

We rarely ask ex-Scientologists about their own experiences in past-life therapy. (When we have got around to it, the results were pretty great.) We’re glad you brought up the subject, Jon, and we’re looking forward to what you can tell us about it…
