We’re live and on the air today in Minneapolis, and Scientology is the fat we’re chewing

Minneapolis

It’s on to the Twin Cities today after a great night in Ohio. We want to thank Miss Tia for showing us around Cleveland yesterday and then making sure we got to the venue in time. The Bunker contingent last night was something else. And how great to meet regulars like Frodis73, KnitNut, FlyOnTheWall, and Jimmy3.

Today, we’re really looking forward to a special treat: We’ll be appearing live, in-studio at the Lori & Julia Show at MyTalk 107.1, a show we’ve been on numerous times by telephone before. Lori & Julia are a lot of fun, and they care about getting things right when it comes to Scientology. How fun to get to meet them and talk about things in studio with them!

We hope you can join us at our event at 7 pm. It’s in Roseville, at Grumpy’s Bar & Grill, 2801 Snelling Ave, and it’s being sponsored by Minnesota Atheists.

Now, on to some new stuff in the world of Scientology. We want to thank Jeffrey Augustine for sending us his latest podcast, a really great interview with Bill Franks. Bill was once the ED Int — the Executive Director International — one of the highest positions in Scientology. We talked to Bill for our book, The Unbreakable Miss Lovely, and he provided some really fascinating first-hand material. He says he personally went through documents showing how much Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard had it in for Paulette Cooper. The resources expended by Scientology to try and destroy her certainly do attest to that.

Now, Jeff does an excellent job talking to Bill about his own personal journey in the organization. Jeff has also given us a short description of it.

Imagine being a highly dedicated Sea Org member in the late 1960s. You have read the OT III materials. You know about Xenu and consider the story to be ridiculous. And then, because you are young, dedicated, smart, and able to get things done, L. Ron Hubbard himself appoints you to be one of his key executives. There you are, on the Flagship Apollo, sitting across from Hubbard in his private cabin. This is the guy who wrote the Xenu materials and you now work closely with him every day.

Hubbard chain-smokes Kool menthol cigarettes as he talks to you about the worldwide issues and challenges faced by the Church of Scientology. Hubbard likes you so much that he summons you and his new son-in-law Jon Horwich to his cabin each night where he talks at length until the wee hours of the morning. Hubbard gets very personal in these talks. Hubbard talks about how he craves money and power and he just cannot seem to get enough of either.

You are Sea Org and do not get along with the Guardian’s Office. Mary Sue Hubbard does not like you. In fact, you and Mary Sue have had several arguments. No one in the Guardian’s Office likes you. L. Ron Hubbard wants it this way as he deliberately set up a power struggle between the Guardian’s Office and the Sea Org.

As you move through your career at the very top of Scientology, you are brutally RPF’d several times and then put back on executive posts.

In the fallout following the Snow White Program, Action Chief David Miscavige phones to inform you that he has obtained the OK to take out the Guardian’s Office. Miscavige tells you that Hubbard wants Mary Sue to drop her legal fight and go to prison as she is a liability. You become a key part of the mission to take down Mary Sue and the Guardian’s Office.

In 1980 Hubbard gives you a lifetime appointment as Executive Director International of the Church of Scientology. You are also Chairman of the Board of the Church. You wonder if you are being set up to be the fall guy if anything goes wrong and the Feds move in on the Church of Scientology…

Welcome to the world of Bill Franks when he was a high-ranking executive in the Church of Scientology during a crucial period in its history. In this gripping interview, Bill Franks shares a very rare and unique insider’s perspective.

And if that weren’t enough for this Thursday, we also have the latest installment of Chris Shelton’s interview of Robyn Capella. Here’s his summary…

In this episode, Robyn gives details about what it’s like to work as a staff member and management representative at the Los Angeles “Model Org for Scientology.” This is the same org that is now manned up with nothing but Sea Org members. Back in 1992 when Robyn first transferred there, Sea Org member Jeannie Sonenfeld was in charge. Unfortunately, Jeannie is still in, now running the Church of Scientology in Cincinnati. Robyn describes Jeannie’s disastrous method of running the show and then talks about what it was like when OT VIII John Woodruff took over and LA org reportedly achieved “Saint Hill size.” And to be clear, there is very little difference between how things were then and how they are now. It only got crazier for Robyn after that and you’re going to find out all about Scientology’s “family values.” I hope you find week’s episode interesting, educational and enlightening.

    Re: the number 47

    Dear Dim Misconception,

It has come to our attention that the Crutch of Slime Anthology and you, in your role as Chastiser of Bivalves (COB) and Clam of Dog, have begun to use and abuse the number 47 frequently, extravagantly and without cause, right or reason.

Our client, Mitt Romney, has clearly established his prerogative to use the number 47 in a free and unhindered fashion prior to you. Mother Jones magazine, on Sept. 17th 2012, released video footage of a fund-raising dinner of May 17th, 2012 where he is clearly seen and heard to state that 47% of Americans pay no tax. This footage is readily available online on You Tube. If, for ecclesiastical or educational reasons, internet access is not available to you, we would be happy to telex a transcript to you.

Mitt Romney is one of the foremost experts on non-payment of tax and, as a fellow non-payer of tax, you must acknowledge the primacy of his claim.
If further proof is required, on November 4, 2012, 47% of the US electorate voted for Mitt Romney. This is a matter of public record and may easily be verified with the Director of Elections.
Mr. Romney has sought our legal advice and counsel. He wants his number back. Cease and desist in your use of the number 47.

PETN (People for the Ethical Treatment of Numbers) have suggested that they will support our client in pursuing vigorous action against you to the fullest extent of the law if you do not.

Mr. Romney has suggested that he would be quite happy to cede the number -25% to you at no cost for your future statements about your statistics,

    Yours Sincerely,
    Ham. Sandwich

There is just a smorgasbord of delicious entheta (aka “truth”) in today’s Bunker! Not that any more is needed, but I’ve been marvelling at the contrast between an appearance by DM and one by the Pope:

The Pope’s appearances are soul’d out. There is no need to cram bad shoops full of audience members who were not there.

Everyone knows in advance when the Pope is coming; there is no post-event press release about it stuffed with square footage and attendance numbers.

Children hug the Pope; children have bad dreams about Captain Blackheart.

The Pope’s words have meaning. There is no Shermanspeak.

    Doors remain unlocked.

    • Draco

      To add to the contrast:
The Vatican does not hit the phone lines, phoning every name in their central files (umpteen times!) to try and coerce Catholics to attend an event. Catholics and non- Catholics alike pitch up just to catch a glimpse of the pope. Threats aren’t used to force people to attend. You aren’t accused of being “counter-intentioned” to the leader if for some reason you can’t or don’t want to go.

      • chukicita

Ooo, yes – people go see the Pope because they *want* to.

They can even ask the Pope for something without losing their eternity, family, or credit rating.

They can give money if they want to, or not give any money — without consequence.

        • Tom Reynolds

They can even hand over their children to the Catholic priests if they like . . . not sure i’d recommend that though, seeing how the Catholic church is crawling with pederasts.

          • salin
            • Tracy Schmitz

exactly, tired argument “but what about the others and what bad stuff they do!” oh wait, are you admitting that you TOO do bad stuff scientology then? “uh, no, we are perfect!” …

          • chukicita

Yes, so much better to let child predators just have their way with the old thetans in little bodies and then cover it up, like Scientology policies dictate.

      • Tracy Schmitz

yeah and the pope doesn’t direct his cardinals and right hand office personnel to make videos to be seen and online disparaging anyone who was in the church who were themselves high ranking and who have left and now spoken out calling them liars, whores and druggies and the pope doesn’t send anyone out to stalk, harass others at their homes, place of business and so on.. not to mention the pope also doesn’t do this to his OWN FATHER!…

      • chukicita

And people bring their children to see the Pope. (Anyone else notice the lack of children in scn event photos?)

The Pope will visit even if there isn’t a new building to open.

    • Sunny

Amen. This Pope is truly great. What great things he is doing. (And no, I am not Catholic). He is an inspiration for everyone.

      • Tom Reynolds

Was he an inspiration when he was a member of the Nazi party?
How many Jews do u think he stuffed into ovens?

        • salin

er… at like ages 6-8 years old? lol. Cracking me up, man.

TOM TROLLING THE BUNKER, TONE 40 STYLE

At the Org they said that it couldn’t be done–
But Tom, with a grin, replied,
He’d never be one to say it couldn’t be done–
            Leastways, not ’til he’d tried.
So he buckled right in, with a trace of a grin,
By golly, he went right to it!
He tackled The Thing That Couldn’t Be Done!
            And he couldn’t do it.

Catch up – that was the previous pope. Read newspapers much?

        • Mockingbird

      • chukicita

I’m not Catholic, either. But I really like this guy.

    • Susan black

Yeah, the pope seems like a genuinely nice guy who aims to bring his church into the 21st century. But he sure threw a stink bomb on california yesterday by making junipero Serra a saint. 🙁

Note to tony: I know you’re a little busy these days, but in the future I hope you’ll turn your investigative and writing talents to exposing some of our dirty little secrets here in california. You’re the man to do it!

  • Tom Reynolds

This is an outrage what you people are doing on this “tour”. Smearing a great humanitarian organization like Scientology. David Miscaviage is trying to help all of YOU people, to help unblock your minds and free yourselves of entheta but all Tony Ortega seems to know is blind Hatred. He doesn’t know how to go up the bridge, like we do, so Tony just tries to destroy it to block everyone else. Very sad, what an SP is capable of.

It’s Thursday and this is a common occurrence here, comments such as yours on this day. We understand you have quotas you must fill before 2pm in your time zone. When you have a moment to pause, which I know they try never to allow, think about what other faith requires such quotas. I’ll give you the answer, but you of course should think of it yourself, the answer is only scientology. It’s a business with sales quotas. No other religion requires payment, okay I know you’ll say they call ‘donations’–though it’s a set price, to receive the faith’s knowledge and teachings.

Imagine if a christian couldn’t learn about Adam and Eve until they had ‘donated’ approximately $100K. Then, imagine that they couldn’t learn about the crucifixion and resurrection until they had ‘donated’ approximately $200K more. At any time, anyone can go to a christian church and talk to a member of clergy about any aspect of christianity—whether you belong to that church or not—-and it’ll be free of charge.

May you some day have true total freedom and peace of mind. I wish you happiness.

“Hubbard wants it this way as he deliberately set up a power struggle between the Guardian’s Office and the Sea Org.” Echoes of how Hitler ran the Nazi Party; setting off power struggles between different branches. Very inefficient, but doubtless very entertaining for Der Fuehrer.

Echoes of every cult ever. No one knows everything that is happening except the leader or leaders. So no individual has all the pieces. No one trusts anyone else. You can’t. Very common, very effective way of controlling a group of humans. Nobody finds out what really went on until after they are out.

I love the Lori & Julia Show. Those ladies really know their stuff (and are Bunkerites to boot).

Thursdays are always bloody audio/visual days. When I’m at work. With no means of listening to anything. Except today when my work computer is Fritzed and I’m home alone and free as a bird! Happy days.

Thanks a million to the live-bloggers last night. I haven’t stayed up for one of those in ages and it was so much fun. Those are far and away my favourite evenings, whether it’s Tony or Bunkerites doing the blogging.

If you missed it, Jimmy’s live-blogging was “alternative” to say the least. Some might even say “off Broadway”. “Experimental”, even 😛

Two moments made me laugh so much. Dodo’s speaks for itself, and the picture is Vaquera taking photos…from outside the door last night when she got locked out!

Bill Franks has had years of Hubbard close service, I recall the 1978 era traffic from Hubbard to Bill, praising Bill from Hubbard, when Bill later became Commanding Officer Int Training Org at Clearwater back then.

    Great interview by Jeff Augustine.
(4 Pittsburghers came hear Tony in Cleveland last night, one of them was an old pubic at LA Org, in that early 1970s booming LA Org which Bill was Commanding Officer of)

If you’re trying to emulate OTVIIIisGrrr8 you need more practice. Change it up a little. It’s already quite boring.

      • sugarplumfairy

        Just for you, Tom:

“…This may be really difficult for lower-level Scientologists to believe, but here goes: In the OT3 materials basically say that 75 million years ago, an evil being named Xenu decided to solve a population problem on his galactic colony by exiling a bunch of people to Earth. Xenu then did a ton of horrible things to these people, like drugging them, placing their bodies around a volcano, and blowing them up with H-bombs.

But that really only took care of the physical problem – Xenu didn’t just want the bodies gone, he wanted to make sure the ‘thetans’ (spirits / souls) of those people didn’t come back and reincarnate on his colony. So when the souls started leaving the bodies, he captured the souls and forced them into a huge implant station that was kind of like a movie theatre. There, he made them watch movies that ‘implanted’ them with false pictures of Christ, and other historical events that Hubbard says didn’t actually happen.

The souls were so screwed up from this implanting that they roamed aimlessly around Earth for millions of years. When human beings started evolving, the thetans started entering their bodies and inhabiting them, and thus these thetans are called ‘body thetans’. And body thetans, says Hubbard, are the source of all human misery….”

Long night driving back, have to work early, sorry can’t chat more.

The public are so on top of Scientology these days, thanks to media like Tony’s unbelievably in depth understanding of it and a community of now unbelievably informed closer observers.

The audience just grasps all the long complex detailed back story of Scientology thanks to impossible to thank all the ex members and smart writers’ coverage that’s all out publicly available.

All of the other officers are of equal rank to Miscavige. Isn’t that a mistake? If Hubbard is the Commodore (now rear admiral lower half, whiose insignia is one stripe about three times the width of an ensign’s stripe plus a star), Miscavige is at most a captain, which makes the others at most commanders (three sleeve stripes).

  • Panopea Abrupta

Chukicita wanted a 42 earlier in honour of Mr. Adams, lately of this sector of the GUH-laxy.
    A repost:

This is taken from the Dread Sea Scrolls, discovered in a cave in Creston.
It has been authenticated by some of the world’s foremost scriptural authorities and
all semi-colons, colons and commas are completely kosher.

    The Gospel According To Panopea
1] THEN the thirty years of plenty and roaming the high seas came to an end, and thirty years of famine set in. 2] The land was barren, and nothing flourished, and no glory came upon the $cilons. And King David of Clam was angry. 3] And the $cilons saw the glory of their neighbours to the east, the Thetanless and Underground Bunkaroos, and they saw the wealth of the Philistines of Pharma in the south, who were of the house of Smersh. Anonymous were those who opposed them and mocked and degraded them 4] Then the $cilons suffered bitterly, and grievously did they pity themselves. 5] For the people had come in times past unto the old Lord, wailing and rending their garments, which were made from clam shells. 6] And the Lord Hubris said, “Why are you come before me, crying and wailing? Wherefore do you rend your garments that are made from shells?” 7] And the people cried, “Behold, 0 Lord, we suffer bitterly, and rashes cover us like a plague of Niacin. 8] For Thou hast brought wealth upon the Philistines of Pharma, and glory to the Thetanless; but in Thy volcanic anger Thou hast forsaken us $cilons, who were once blessed in Thy sight.” 9] But the Lord replied, “How is it that have I have forsaken you, when I have poured such bounty without mutiny and celebrity centred upon your heads?” 10] But the people looked about them and saw no riches, nor the shining trophies of battle. All they could see were bills and bankruptcy and the Lord’s shiny medals of stolen valour and big shiny temples full of idols, hence their name Idol Temples. And they protested unto the old Lord, “Where is this bounty then, 0 Lord, of which Thou speakest?” 11] But the people wept, and they no longer had faith in the Lord, and banished him from their sight to a caravan in Creston. And his hair was random and wild, his nails unkempt and his ravings strange. 12] And the Lord went even from that place, fleeing before the infidels. Solace found he in Vistaril but the Dark Angel took him in the night. Upon a funeral pyre was his body burned and his ashes cast unto the deep. For the earth refused him. 13] And the new Lord came from far away in the East, out of a barren place called the New Jersey Barrens. And the new Lord said “Yea, the bounty of the Lord is as the rain, that is drained into the sands of the desert. For it is all gone on the likes of shoe-lifts and pompadours. Yea, and cobblers and tailors and spirits” 14] And the new Lord said that He would lead the people to salvation. 15] Then the people bent over before him, and were overjoyed, and they raised their voices in praise, saying, “We’re sorted now. We’re going to win the war.” 16] Now it had come to pass in this time that they greatly exalted the prophet Marty, who was their general. 17] For under his rule they fought in a battle of many notions and motions, and in the land of Luddites before the Web grew, they strove against the IRS and the ARS. And a Wise Beard Man came there to call for justice. But the new Lord had a feral cunning and vast riches and did suborn justice. 18] And lo, though they were almost destroyed, they fought back and vanquished the enemy in their sterile imaginations. 19] Then the $cilons made an idol of King David, Clam of Sod, and cried out that he was the saviour, and by his mighty sword they would come forth from the land. 20] But in the end He drank a fifth. 21] When they saw that the might of the $cilons was nigh restored, all the tribes trembled. 22] But on the Fringes of a vast Web of Conspiracy gathered there Anonymous and Apostates who were bitter and defrocked and they did not tremble: they were crafty, and in their wisdom they sent a madness upon the Champion of Bivalves. 23] Then King David of the Dildo became as a man who dreams, speaking in tongues and seeing visions. 24] And he squandered the wealth of the people on lame and useless servants. 25] For he brought to their camp men and women such as John of Allender and Jenny the Djinn of Lin’s Son. And he brought Squirrelbusters, who had settled south of the land of Al-Amo and in the City of Angles; and they were Lax and did Babble, in honour of which babbling, men built a tower. 26] And he brought many, many more, lawyers and spies, by the baker’s dozen and by the despot’s dozen. 27] And soon King Clam, David of the Barrens, feared to venture forth, lest he be vanquished, but exhorted his servants only to defend the camp. 28] Then all the tribes came to loathe the $cilons, and laugh at them, because they were so boring and like unto white bread and deluded. 291 So the people came before the Lord and said, “Why don’t Ye bring further glory to the people?’ 301 And the Lord replied, “Behold, ye have given unto me millions and millions of shekels. But in my folly, I have come up short. For I hath spent it on Idol Temples throughout the farthest reaches, unto the Antipodes and Bulawayo. And lo, I hath squandered it in the Windy City and the Land of Sunder, even unto the Valley flowing with Bilk and Money. Now the bounty of the Lord is gone, for I hath spunked it on utter dross.” 31] But the people were not satisfied, and they wrote screeds of righteous indignation, and kept saying things about ‘fraud’. And took they then in their thousands unto blogs and protests and books and journals, even unto moving pictures. 32] So the Lord cast out many, and sent for His prophets who gave profit, the best of his regs, which are like unto sharks and ravenous wolves, renowned for their steady gripping hands and their outstretched arms and their good relations with the remaining pod of cetaceans. And they staunched the hemorrhage of gold and greatly pressed those in the pod through blackmail and lies. 33] But the ordinary people were in mourning: they had loved themselves as greatly as Narcissus and did pity themselves also. 34] For they were blind to their former madness, seeing only their triumph against the Revenuers of Inland years before. 35] And King David was as a man incensed, and the $cilons lost countless battles. 36] And the people went berserk, and threatened to come into the house of the Lord and press him with suits and legal imbroglios. 37] And it came to pass that They were skint, and soon the moneylenders drove Them from the temple. 38] And yet no another Lord came among the $cilons and He sacrificed many with wailing and gnashing of thieves and lamented the old King who had lead the $cilons a full score years before. 39] Then the few remaining people rejoiced, and cried, “Right, this time we are pure sorted. We’re going unto the Promised Land.” 40] And there was laughter across the land. Then did they set sail in their ship. And the way that ship was was that it was 47 cubits in length and 47 cubits was it’s width. And in height was it also 47 cubits. For 47 was the number, not more nor less, since that number pleaseth the Lord. 41]And the water was not clear, Clearwater was it not and the Sea did swallow them up. 42]For their Ark was worse than their byte. So sayeth the Lord.

Thank you, Pan, for posting the version with the kosher semi-colons. Because, now, for the first time, I truly understand it. I mean, whoooosh!

[and ‘like unto white bread’ was pure genius]

“King David of the Dildo” “For 47 was the number, not more nor less, since that number pleaseth the Lord.” LOL.
Those kosher semi colons are important. No shit is legit without them.

Tom Reynolds has already made 10 out of a total of 77 comments. Please don’t encourage him by responding. If he’s trying to be funny I personally think it’s falling flat. What he’s doing very well is filling the comments with subjects of his choosing. Whether benign or malicious we’re letting him set the tone for the day.

    • salin

I’m sorry. I find him so off the wall/out of context that intentional or not – the comments are so ludicrous that they are cracking me up. But, I respect you, and you have much more experienced how these exchanges can change the tone of the day. I will follow your sage advice. (I’ll just keep my laughter on this side of my key board.)

      • MaxSpaceman

        The style is so straight-arrow, that it’s 50/50 whether it’s J & D’ing or a real Scilon.

(I’m reading it, as salin, like it’s J&D’ing w/o doubt. But, then again, I’m the guy who thought the SNL Neurotology segment took a few months to produce! when the reality — which J3 called — is, as Tony found out, was, actually, completely done in the standard, for them, 1 week’s time.)

        • salin

I have no idea whether it is a joke or not. Even if the poster is serious – I find the tone deafness is funny as hell. But I rather think the poster “goes there” in ways that others are more subtle – so I think it is either an aping troll (paid PI type to disrupt, but not an actual Scientologist), are a joke.

      • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

I’m not the boss of anyone, as my son tells me 😀 But Tom Reynolds isn’t even good at it! This place is wall-to-wall wits, raconteurs and erudites so when one single person is responsible for a 7th of all comments he needs to be sure he’s going to entertain.

        • Tom Reynolds

I entertain with the pearls of wisdom that flow from the eternal life vortex of LRH

Good point. Also the videos are important. I am almost through the Augestine piece. These are what should warrant discussion. Not the prototypical Sceino troll or Scieno troll facade.

        • Judith Sylvester

OT but I saw the third new Freedoh magazine in about a month yesterday. It was the [steel yourselves] Back to School issue. Haven’t had a chance to completely read it yet (I’m out of Tums at the moment), but it looks like Scn is slathering on the KSW jelly to insert itself into education reform.

    • MaxSpaceman

It’s a smart move. Regrettably. As the House of Representatives of the USofA and a huge apparatus of Koch/1percenter money works to dismantle the Federal Dept. of Education.

As ‘they’ attempt to do to education what was successfully done with Prisons. Privatize! Corporate-tize! Monetize! Profit-ize! It’s a national disgrace. And Scilons can move into that arena with impunity, as the Dept of Ed. gets weaker and privatizing education becomes bigger and bigger.

      • chukicita

        ^^^ Bingo. I agree, it’s a national disgrace.

  • willloomis

As somebody that tours as an indie musician I gotta say I’m really impressed with Tony’s relentless tour schedule, its not easy (or cheap), but he’s really covering a lot of ground and making it work, well done!

    • Graham

Yep. Not cheap. Perhaps time for a reminder that there is a Donate button all the way up at top left….

      • Tom Reynolds

Hmm, one greedo huckster begging for shekles on the intarweb pointing his nose down on a member, in good standing, of Scientology, accussing him of doing the same thing!! Pot, meet kettle!

    • Tom Reynolds

Yeah, the carpetbagging huckster sure does get around, I’ll agree. . .

      • MaxSpaceman

    • chukicita

I did the tour thing for some years – you’re so right, it’s not easy or cheap! It makes my heart happy to see Bunkeroos step up to help make it easier and less expensive, and they do it with such love and panache.

I don’t know about you, but my tour days included sleeping in a room full of uncaged exotic reptiles (because it was a step up from the promised band accommodations that were literally one flea-ridden, un-sheeted, pee-stained mattress in a leaking room attached to the club) and asking strangers on the streets of Miami if they had a microphone we could borrow when the venue had no sound system. The occasional nice hotel and homemade meal made such a difference!

      • willloomis

Oh man yea, once we had no place to stay in Utah (winter time) and this really sweet family let us crash in their basement and made us pancakes in the morning, it totally saved us. Fortunately I think Tony’s books are selling a little better than our albums, but yea, this is probably a good time to donate

      • joan nieman

Chukicita, I bet you have some good stories to tell. I know that music can be such a passion and going through struggles to be heard and express your talents is never an easy journey to start with. The reward from all this is being able to touch hearts with the gift you have been given. I marvel at the talents in the Bunker.

        • chukicita

Thank you, joan, that was a kind thing to say. I know I spent today being blown away by Miss Tia’s needlework. It was just stunning. I’ve always admired people who could make something really beautiful out of something as ordinary as pieces of thread. It takes a special eye and rhythm, almost like a dance.

Talk about ‘Daniel in the Lion’s Den’; Jonah and the Whale; in the Belly of the Beast.

Bill was there through the most dramatic years– from Hubbard’s insane 8 years at Sea, to the fall of the Guardian’s Office, to the jailing of Mrs L. Ron Hubbard, Sr., Mary Sue, to the emergence of Miscavige as the power grabber.

    It’s ‘don’t miss radio.!’

    • Mockingbird

Only 8 insane years ? I thought he had a lot more than that !

      • MaxSpaceman

no! 1950-1986, you’re right, 30 insane years! But at sea, 1967-1975 iirc 8 years 🙂

  • Mockingbird

    Good morning beautiful Bunkeroos !

Great interview to start the day !

Just love the podcasts… Will we be able, us in the UK, to hear your interview?

    • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

We usually can, Miss Interested 🙂

  • sugarplumfairy

I’m on vacation.. Ocean front.. Glorious early morning sunshine.. Beautiful sea breeze..

I’m sitting on the deck watching the paddle boarders only about a hundred yards away, with a much loved sister who understands and shares my fascination and rancor for scientology.. we have four friends with us who know pretty much nothing about it..

I ask if anyone minds if I listen to a podcast.. They don’t, so I start Jeffrey’s interview.. Half way through, they’re staring at me with their mouths open..

I have a love-hate relationship with co$.. I frkng hate what they are and what they do.. But I lovvvve how great they are making enemies and bringing themselves down..

Have a lovely vacation, Fairy. It sounds like heaven 🙂

      Enjoy your vacation!

      • sugarplumfairy

I really am, but sad cause it’s almost over..

        Hope you’re enjoying the UK..

        • Juicer77

We are 🙂 House hunting now.

          • Graham

Don’t say if you don’t want to- but curious about where you might be in the UK?

            • Juicer77

Near the Cotswolds. Absolutely stunning area.

          • gtsix

The mid-Atlantic will not be the same without you {sniffles}.

Enjoy the UK. Do not become Chelsea or Arsenal fans 🙂

            • Juicer77

Well, you could come visit! *hint, hint*

            • gtsix

Now that sounds lovely. As I haven’t been over in 6 years, and one of my best friends lives in Norwich… it seems I have a trip to save up for 😉

            • Juicer77

              Yes!!!

          • L. Wrong Hubturd

My favorite TV show. House Hunters International. Now you get to do it for real.

  • Vaquera

Lego Paulette. Thank you Fly!! f5

    • Miss Tia

Morning!!! Don’t forget to send me some of those photos! As someone who is ALWAYS taking photos, I basically took NONE with my own camera last night!! I got one of the caek and other than that, I took none of bunkerites, etc. Guess it was nice to take a break from taking pix! 🙂

      • Graham

Sometimes taking pics gets in the way of fully experiencing what’s going on. These days I’d rather fully immerse myself in an experience than only be ‘half there’ but have pics to look at afterwards.

      • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

Tia, please can you link to the video of your cross-stitch creation? I want to send it to someone. Also, the day shift might not have seen it in all its fabulous glory.

        • NOLAGirl (Stephanie)
          • Kim O’Brien

ok …that is flat out freaking amazing

          • Miss Tia

i just posted it! 🙂 i also made it ‘public’…..understably i didn’t want it public til tony had it…..

            • NOLAGirl (Stephanie)

I figured that was why you had it unlisted. I thought I lost the link yesterday when I went looking for it. You’d have been cracking up if you could have seen me over here. LOL

            • chukicita

You are incredibly skilled, young lady.

          • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

Wonderfulnesses from beginning to end! That is such a special thing.

          • chukicita

            That’s *cross-stitch*?!? Sweet baby Xenu!
‘S beautiful, Miss Tia! I can tell it is made with a lotta love, as well as skill!

        • Miss Tia

thanks for reminding me—i had it ‘unlisted’, for obvious reasons, until i gave it to Tony!!

    • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

She’s tiny and perfect! Just like the real thing 😀 Amazing job, Fly!

      • Miss Tia

Vaquera has a pix of Tony’s…dunno if she posted it last night or not….Fly made him in a bunker!

        • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

Gah! I will trawl back through the comments after I went to bed.

          • Miss Tia

i dunno if she posted it or not….i don’t think she did? i’ll go thru the comments when i get home after my errand…….

            • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

Tony posted it oop top, as we say oop north 🙂

    • chukicita

      ^^^This. Is. Awesome!

  • Sid

The Journey of the Brave Bunker Knights

“And then,, Frodis73, KnitNut, FlyOnTheWall, and Jimmy3 all watched wise Mister Tony head off to an important meeting at Grumpy’s Bar.”

  • Well isn’t today something? I sure wish I could be in my old stomping grounds in Minnesota today to see Tony again. I hope that at least a few people I know out there will be in attendance. Those people need a wake-up call badly and Tony is definitely one of the best people I know to give it. If I could, I would round up the 110 or so Scientologists in the five-state region (yes, that is how many there actually are there) and get them all into that room. In a matter of one hour of listening to Tony, Scientology would be dead forever in the entire region. That’s why they are so desperate to stop Tony and what he does.

My ongoing interview with Robyn is over half released now and I’m really happy with the ground we have covered and the insane crazy that she has exposed. Unfortunately, her experience was completely typical of what life in a destructive cult like Scientology is really like. There is very little that Robyn went through that we didn’t all see or hear or know about in the Sea Org.

When we were doing the interview, we realized something I thought might be of interest. The human mind is built to be strong and its ability to adapt and change to fit whatever circumstances we find ourselves in is nothing short of amazing. Our experiences in the Sea Org had been so insane, so beyond the norm of what anyone in everyday life would ever expect, that we had adapted to it as a sort of new “normal”, completely losing all perspective of what life was like for the rest of the world. For example, at one point we were talking about the physical abuses, being made to stay up all night for days on end so that we could report compliance to “Command Intention” or having your every waking moment being monitored by Security and CMO to ensure you were never “slacking off” to the point that there was no such thing as having a moment to yourself or taking any time off. It just became our day-to-day life to work and work and work. Random thoughts about seeing your family or taking a day off (or a half-day or even a couple of hours) were so easily parked to the side in the urgency of whatever the latest “flap” was that after a while you literally were unable to conceive of there being anything else to your life except your work. A constant stream of orders, threats and pressure was so routine, we stopped thinking about them as anything other than what we deserved. So even years later, looking back at what had happened and talking about it between ourselves, it took us a couple hours before we realized that not only had that not been normal but it had been outright slavery.

It really is amazing what we can convince ourselves to do in the name of a cause and how well that cause is sold, especially to young people who have no world view or perspective. If you want to know how Scientology gets away with it and why it can still persist to this day, this is how. I think there are few things more dangerous to the world at large than those tyrants and opportunists who co-opt young people’s minds and make them think they are saving the world, because there is nothing a young person won’t do if he thinks he’s on the side of righteousness.

    • Mockingbird

Great to hear that talking and looking at the experience has allowed you to see it as bona fide slavery . I have called it that for over a year now. Is the five state area a specific group of five states or a nick name for something else ? If there are only 110 Scientologists in five US states that is hardly any at all !

      • Glad I could finally catch up to you.

The five state region is simply the five states around Twin Cities which that org is responsible for “clearing” because there is no other Scientology there. This includes the Dakota’s and Wisconsin. We just got to calling it that when I was there.

        • Mockingbird

Thanks, that is very few Scientologists indeed ! How is anybody going to clear the planet at that rate !

        • salin

Skip over Illinois and to Indiana – and its pretty much the same thing.

      • Allie

That’s like 25 per state. Hahaha pathetic numbers indeed.
There’s a millions of people in those states combined. 110 is not impressive, DM.

    • skiesareblue

Thank you Chris for your brilliant work! I am so enjoying all your podcasts (“Sensibly Speaking”) and videos. You are literally “blowing my mind” .. I have so many more questions now, and I think that is a good thing. 🙂

    • Mockingbird

By the by I just heard your latest critical Q and A . It was great and I remember you referencing the occult.
I recommend reading The Book of Law by Crowley as it is quite short and I found 41 ideas that are there and in Dianetics and Scientology myself. If you are really hard core you can read the delightful insane cult doctrine OAHSPE which has over 50 points of extreme similarity including phrases and concepts , some verbatim matches for Hubbard doctrine .

    • jazzlover

You are so right, Chris. And I think you make it even more clear why sea orgers are kept so occupied doing tasks that are virtually meaningless.

O/T: When are we gonna see some of my suggested slogans on your video wear? 🙂 (I hope you wrote ’em down, because I didn’t)

      • Thanks. I gotta get some more of those iron-on letters. I was amused by a couple of commenters on my channel telling me they are now in the “C-Org” (for my name) so maybe I should do something with that too, LOL.

        • jazzlover

Maybe some of your former acquaintances/friends still in the Sea Org would be willing to help out? Ya know, just to make some real cash 🙂

    • Robyn Capella

      Thanks Chris.

One thing this video covers that most Sea Org members didn’t experience was what it was like to be pregnant in the SO. I was one of the last so-called ‘baby boomers’ — that whole experiment of sending SO members to Class V orgs when they got pregnant and refused to have an abortion. Even then, I feel fortunate that I was not on a more important post as I didn’t have to endure the extreme pressures Laura D and others did to have an abortion.

Thanks again for all of your hard work in putting this all together!

      Robyn

      • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

Thanks a million for agreeing to make this series with Chris. We have thoroughly enjoyed watching you both.

        • Robyn Capella

Thank you and I appreciate the kind words!

      • You’re the best for doing this Robyn!

      • Allie

Thank you Robyn for sharing your stories with Chris.

        • Robyn Capella

So many of my experiences were mirrored by many others and it’s great to see more and more people speaking up.

  • MaxSpaceman

As Chuck Beatty (downthread) and others, too, have got to sign-off ‘n go to work :-/

Today will be ‘such a day!’ ya kin tell already. Alas- farewell 🙂

Have a great day, Max 🙂

    • chukicita

He needs to do his own ‘hey, girl’ series.

      • Kim O’Brien

pretty sure that if he did not have facial hair ..they would not let him on the rides at Six Flags. Cute as a bug though . Aaahhhh……youth .

  • Miss Tia

I gotta run an errand this morning; but when I get back, I’ll go thru yesterdays comments properly. Only saw some when I had some wifi and I quite honestly suck at typing on my tablet. It was FANTASTIC meeting everyone and an honor to chauffeur our proprietor. Now for some haiku if you don’t mind (doesn’t matter if you do, I’m doing it anyway 😉 [I wasn’t gonna link/post re: my x-stitch but i-betty mentioned some people might not have seen it, so I’ll include the pix and the little ‘flip book’ vid I made where you can watch it come along]

Prof. Hamtaro’s Experiment of the Day: Tom Reynolds vs Reynolds Wrap

The always lovely i-Betty raised the idea downthread that Tom Reynolds might not be performing any useful function here at the Bunker so I thought an objective experiment might be helpful. Therefore, using methodology commonly accepted as highly scientific by Scientologists the world over, I’ll be doing test comparisons between Tom Reynolds the troll and Reynolds Wrap brand aluminum foil.

Test #1: reheating leftovers—the Reynolds Wrap performed admirably while covering a casserole dish of mac and cheese. The reheated casserole was warmed evenly throughout with no loss of taste. Unfortunately, Tom Reynolds failed the test because he was screaming the entire time and kicked open the oven door before it reached the desired reheating temperature of 325 degrees.
Test #2: protecting freezer items—once again, Reynolds Wrap did a bang up job and properly protected the fresh fish fillets we stored in the freezer. Tom Reynolds failed to cover the fillets properly and wouldn’t stop yelling about the cold so the test had to be aborted prematurely. Testing note: Tom Reynolds could barely fit into a standard refrigerator freezer, even when properly folded. For future tests, purchase a large chest freezer floor model with locking lid.
Test #3: recycling value—Reynolds Wrap takes up very little space in the recycling bin and is highly valued by the recycling company. On the other hand, Tom Reynolds is quite bulky and the recycling company refused to accept him because no vendor would purchase him once he was recycled.

Conclusions: Reynolds Wrap is an excellent product with multiple uses and is good for the environment.
Tom Reynolds appears to have no useful functions, no value and is not healthy for any environment.

    • Tom Reynolds

Hey Ham, remember when we told you the day might come for an EOC??
It’s upon us, now it’s time for you to strive for Eternity.

    • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

Beautiful, cutting-edge science. I know what I’ll be buying from now on! 😀

    • noseinabk

Excellent Ham.. I never would have thought to do that brilliant experiment. I usually just poke it with a stick.

      • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

        A shitted stick?

        • Graham

Andrea- would you say that if your mother were in the room?

          • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

            No mumble mumble mumble 😛

    • Allie

And Reynolds Wrap is shiny. We love shiny things.
      Tom R. way too dull

  • Chee Chalker

OSA and all the Hubbard lovers should chew on the fact that the greatest OT ever known, mankind’s best friend, a BIG BEING with super powers and an army of ‘tough sons of bitches’……all that and they could not destroy one petite, but powerful, dauntless and determined young woman.
And look at her today compared to Hubtard and crew.

    • Graham

The best revenge is a life well lived.

  • TonyOrtega

Your proprietor, in the Bunker. By Fly…

    • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

Fly, it’s amazing! I can’t believe how creative and fun the gifts were last night.

      • Miss Tia

This was a real creative one!

        • Kim O’Brien

          gee..when i met him …all i brought was a couple of joints

          • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

            Snort! 😛

          • EnthralledObserver

I have to get creative with the gift giving now… do you think maybe he’d like one of my kids? You know, I’ll gift wrap them…

            • jazzlover

If they’re teens like mine, maybe we could work out some exchange program or package deal? 😉

            • Kim O’Brien

anyone need an emo 13 year old girl who says ” whatever” all the time ? LOL

            • jazzlover

Not sure I need another one 🙂

            • EnthralledObserver

              I got a matching 13 y/o boy to go with…

            • Kim O’Brien

              wow….hugs to you

            • EnthralledObserver

              Back at you.

            • NOLAGirl (Stephanie)

I have one too. You have my sympathies. 🙂

            • EnthralledObserver

              Accepted and reciprocated.

            • Judith Sylvester

              eyeroll

            • EnthralledObserver

There is a cute 7 year old… she dances. She’s my favourite, but I’d give her up if you think Tony might like her.

            • jazzlover

She is still at the age of “likability”. I’d say you’ve got at least another 4 or 5 years. Don’t be so quick to relinquish that 🙂

            • EnthralledObserver

True. What about the one who will turn 18 the night of the Sydney event? She cooks… but doesn’t wash up after.

            • jazzlover

I have a son who’s 18 who can’t be bothered to even cook, let alone clean. He keeps telling me he wants to be treated like a man, though (sigh). If he only knew. LOL

            • EnthralledObserver

Yeah… *grimmaces* 18 year old boys are definitely not men haha.

            • jazzlover

I’ve learned to just look at him and chuckle when he makes such demands. Keeps it fun 🙂

            • chukicita

I’ve got to try that with my 16-going-on-40 year old.

            • EnthralledObserver

Ok… well I still have a very stubborn 11 year old girl, and a 15 year old ‘different’ girl to choose from. It’s a real smorgasbord, I’m telling you.

            • jazzlover

My heart goes out, and kudos for keeping it together. If I were you, I’d think about creative ways to get them to ‘police’ each other. Sort of like Lroon did with his gang 😉

            • EnthralledObserver

Violence abound… already tried that. Nah – segregation is the ticket. RPF slave train.

            • jazzlover

LOL. Send a couple to grandma’s house for a long weekend or two 😉

            • EnthralledObserver

I know you have good intentions – but Grandma only lives next door. Dammit!

            • jazzlover

Buy her a house further away 🙂

            • EnthralledObserver

Will work on that… in the meantime, fuck it, I’m wrapping them all up for Tony.

            • chukicita

Maybe you could send them to Delphi?

            • EnthralledObserver

Great idea! But I’ll tell them it’s Hogwarts for least resistance.

            • Todd Tomorrow

I have an idea for you.

            • Graham

“Honey, you seem to be having so much trouble originating.”
“Mom- WTF does that even MEAN?!!”

            • Joe

              “SEC CHECK!” -shakes fist angrily!-

            • CobGatYour$$

Gee wiz another one? I have one exactly like that too!;)

            • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

              Haha!

      • Snuzey

Does this mean that Fly and Jimmy were in the same room last night?

        • Miss Tia

          yes they were!!

          • Snuzey

I hope they had a bromance cuddle and then discussed going on tour as a comedy duo. I would buy tickets for that!

            • Juicer77

              Now there’s a good idea…!

        • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

It was eleventy on the Richter Scale. Can you even imagine? Then Vaquera got locked out of the room. I can’t repeat that enough times 😛

    • EnthralledObserver

Haha… you look like an evil overlord.

      Wait…

    • chukicita

Love the eyebrows, the relaxed investigative journalist pose, and the one hand on the celly! Nice work, fly!

    • Judith Sylvester

Cats know they are BIg Beings.

    • Acherontia

That reminds me of an article I read recently about how crazy cat ladies aren’t really a thing anymore because so many men have cats and are very vocal about how much they love them. Love it! Cat Men 4ever!

Also, can cats have BTs? Can cats be cleared of BTs?

      • they can be so inconsiderate sometimes

You know, between this and Miss Tia’s gift from yesterday, I’m starting to think I have to be a lot more crafty to hang with the big dogs here.

      • NOLAGirl (Stephanie)

Not so Joe. I can’t make anything. LOL

I can cook though, so maybe someday. 😀

        • coonellie

You make a lot of things NOLAGirl – they’re just not as tangible. You make people laugh, you make others pay attention to what’s important, and you make the Bunker a better place!

          • NOLAGirl (Stephanie)

            *blush*

            Thank you. 🙂

    • seriouslyWTF

Wow. Between this and the amazing cross stitch that Miss Tia made, it makes the gift I gave (Arizona greeting cards I make) look bad. It’s the thought that counts, right?

      • Miss Tia

We all have special skills, talents, abilities and each and every gift is from the heart and are equal, just like we are all here!

I missed seeing the Arizona greeting cards!!! If you used your photos, I am already proclaiming them gorgeous!

      • Juicer77

I bet the cards were gorgeous and much appreciated!

Wow, super surprised to hear Bill come out and talk. Back in the day when he was Ed Int he struck a very imposing figure and had a presence.. to this S.O. staff member anyway. I tell ya Bunkerites.. there are a LOT of good stories from the old timers whose heads were lopped back in 1982 onwards. Some cannot openly talk due to court settlements, others don’t want to dredge it all up.. seems old hat (my case) and other than fireside stories doesn’t impact the current scene. But for those of us who lived and worked on the Apollo, in close proximity to MSH and LRH.. there’s some good stories in the filing cabinets!

    • Juicer77

It is truly appreciated whenever longtime ex’s choose to speak about their time “in.” It is also understood that the choice not to speak is supported.

    • Robert Eckert

Chuck Beatty at the pre-event dinner was rattling off the list of people he really really wants to talk before they die.

Great interview with Bill Franks. The inside perspective on Hubbard is amazing.

    • salin

It is. Also that even after getting that niggling sense (when the only reason to ‘offer a new level’ was marketing), that it still took seven years before walking a way. Even while being amid all of those machinations, still toiling away in the service of ‘a greater good’.

That is some awfully powerful mental bindings that Hubbard crafted. (pun intended)

  • NOLAGirl (Stephanie)

Just when I think I can’t be appalled anymore by Co$ behavior, I hear another story like Robyn’s and again…appalled.

Has anybody considered offering Kim Davis in Kentucky an Oxford? She make a great Scientologist!

    • Graham

When you say “Oxford” PLEASE put it in quote marks. Flubtard’s crappy fake test has NOTHING to do with the real Oxford. And yes- Kim Davis is enough of a self-righteous hypocrite to fit right in with Scamatology- no test needed!

      • Doc M

Sure, but I would have thought that everyone in the Bunker knows that the test has nothing to do with the real Oxford.

        • Graham

Maybe I’m a bit over-sensitive. I’ve got friends who work at the university and it really ‘grinds my gears’ to think of this bunch of fakers trying to hitch their wagon to the name of a group that works so hard to deserve their world-class reputation.

      Major laughs, Pan.

Fwiw, as a die hard jazzer, the only thing I can say about Mark Isham (and it isn’t really a good thing) is that he’s the Chris Botti of Scientology 🙂

      • Glen

Hey jazzlover, we’ll have to talk some jazz someday. Thanks for the Trane video a while back. Anybody who had Ornette, Don, Charlie and Eddie (r.i.p. all) as an avatar is alright in my book.

It’s really disturbing that Mark Isham (and, of course, Chick) is so deeply into this cult. But I wouldn’t disparage his musicianship. I knew him a bit when he lived in the SF bay area (I’m guessing pre-cult) before his move to L.A and his film scoring career. He used to play with Art Lande and the Rubisa Patrol and was a fine legit jazz player. And that Van Morrison band with him and Pee Wee Ellis was really great.

Being allergic to “smooth jazz”, I can’t rightly comment on Chris Botti (he’s not in the cult, is he?) but some people I respect have said he is quite a trumpet player. I just can’t stand that sort of music that he plays.

        Best to you.

        • jazzlover

You’re right. I shouldn’t be so casual in my dismissals. I will say, though, that Isham single-handedly ruined (for me) Torn’s “Clouds About Mercury”, which happens to include Bruford and Levin (2 of my favorite musicians). And speaking of which — they had a band called Bruford Levin Upper Extremities (which also included Torn and Botti). When they were doing a signing tour for their band, Bruford made a remark like “we have one of the best trumpets your country has to offer”. I was astounded at his ignorance (especially since there are at least 20 other legitimate jazz trumpeters today who are more talented, including a little someone named Dave Douglas). Despite my overall love for Billy boy, I didn’t know whether to laugh my ass off right in the store, or fly at him with outstretched arms ready to place my hands around his throat for such a blithe dismissal of America’s ability to recognize good music when it hears it 🙂

  • Xique

How sweet when during Robyn’s interview her daughter chimes in ” Was it worth it ? ” and gives Robyn a hug? The most endearing moment in an otherwise appalling story of her mistreatment as a 22 yr old pregnant woman/ Sea Org member. Robyn you were so brave and so strong. You still are!

Since the publication of “The Way To Slappiness” over 30 years ago,
as an attempt to deflect attention away from the jailing of Mary-Sue
and Lord Hubris’ status as con-man on the lam and unindicted co-conspirator,
there has been a chasm opened for a proper manual on how to con-duct
    one’s cultic affairs.
This slim offering of 10 commandments attempts to fill the void.

    $cientology – How to run a cult

1 :Some say money is not the most important thing.
They are right – it is the ONLY thing.

2: Whatever hits the fan will NOT be evenly distributed.

3: If there is a competent person who knows what they are doing,
    RPF them.

4: That which does not fall apart will be taken apart.
    This includes families.

5: Daily meetings and stats reports will continue until we discover
    why nothing is working.

6: Daily beatings will continue until morale improves.

7: It is ALWAYS the fault of SPs or bitter defrocked apostates.

8: Shouting times intelligence is a $cientology staff constant – respect it.

9: Madness takes it’s toll – please pay at the reg’s office.

10: Never use spell check – $cientology does not practice witchcraft.

Calling scientology a cult is an insult to cults everywhere. The “church” is a con-game that the government needs to strip of its IRS tax free status.

Stunning flyer at Mike Rinder’s today (Call to arms segment)

Announcement of OT IX & X imminent release. Gives a grocery list of courses and preparatory steps to be done by certain deadlines.

    Includes not-so-veiled threats:

If these dates are unreal to you, it is time to review your life and get your priorities straight

we are telling you that you had better be ready

    Nonetheless a disclaimer:

No one is promising a release date

The flyer addresses OT VIIs and VIIIs; the most dedicated and (sunk-cost) invested. However, this is such a blatant predatory scheme, if this doesn’t shock and rattle a few doubting seeds into action, nothing will.

Desperate cos is desperately digging for coins between the couch cushions.

    http://www.mikerindersblog.org/thursday-funnies-50/

    • salin

A live blogger mentioned the OT IX and X came up in the Q and A, but no one described what was said. I find this amping up as if they are coming (and ridiculous claims of new powers) really interesting. Like you, I think it has the potential to be the beginning of the end.

Then again the crazy minister who keeps giving dates (and moving them) for the end of the world – still has followers even though his multiple predictions (set with gloom and doom and sell all your earthly possessions type nonsense.)

      • Graham

I remember the JWs going door-to-door in the 70s promising/threatening the end of the world in 1975. Cheeky fuckers are still knocking on doors peddling their delusions.

      • HillieOnTheBeach

“A live blogger mentioned the OT IX and X came up in the Q and A, but no one described what was said.”

Hopefully I won’t annoy Tony by saying something that is incorrect, but IIRC, Marthy Rathbun and a couple other sources have confirmed to Tony that LRH authored OT IX & X do not exist.

This is strictly a carrot dangling manoeuvre; Miscavige has nothing new to sell.

As you say, doomsday/end-of-times ministers manage to keep a hold on some cognitive-dissonant impaired people. However, the ridiculous and blatant manipulation sometimes reaches heights that manages to become too much to bear and shakes a few of them loose.

Footbullet Miscavige seems to have an uncanny talent to piss off hesitant but recoverable believers.

        • salin

Good assessment per that last statement.

IMO, the question isn’t whether or not LRon wrote OT IX & X, but whether Miscavige will have extracted enough Hubbard words from other places to “create” something to sell as IX & X. Heck he might even be deluded enough to think he is divining the intent from LRon and what is extracted is “Real.”

          • HillieOnTheBeach

            Thinking out loud, here.

For Miscavige to create OT IX & X from random LRH sources under the pretense of divining LRH’s intent would require the complicity of a number of people who know it’s not true. To them, a choice would need to be made: loyalty to Miscavige or to LRH. Some would undoubtedly choose the former, others the latter.

I think Miscavige would be dangerously treading into Gerry Armstrong territory again.

Oh wait! Yeah, you may be right. 🙂

            • salin

Who knows what project Shelly has been working on… 😉

With thanks to Mike Rinder and the guy who posted this in the comments section there this morning, I thought this would be worth at least a few giggles:

    Taoism: Shit happens.
    Hinduism: This shit happened before.
Buddhism: It is only the illusion of shit happening.
Zen: What is the sound of shit happening?
Islam: If shit happens, it is the will of Allah.
Jehovah’s Witnesses: Knock, knock. Shit happens.
Atheism: There is no such thing as shit.
Agnosticism: Maybe shit happens…and maybe it doesn’t.
Protestantism: Shit won’t happen if I work harder.
Catholicism: If shit happens, I deserved it.
Judaism: Why does shit always happen to me?
Televangelism: Send money or shit will happen to you (First cousin to Scientology)
Rastafarianism: Smoke that shit (ya mon! We have good shit in Jamaica!)
    Unitarianism: Who gives a shit?

    http://www.mikerindersblog.org/thursday-funnies-50/

    • Rachel

Great post jazz lover. Just one slight alteration I would make: Catholicism: If shit happens, I’ll pray. Not that I’m a Catholic but family are and the above reads a bit too close to Co$ you pulled it in crap – though that may be why they do seem to attract a notable number of Catholics to their particular shit fest (did I just say that?!!!).

      • jazzlover

In all fairness, it wasn’t really my post. I just grabbed it from the comments section in Rinder’s blog. Fwiw, I hear ya, though 🙂

      • Todd Tomorrow

        And confused gay people?

      • gtsix

As a person raised catholic – that sounds spot on to me. It is similar to Co$ – all good is praised be to God, all bad is caused by human beings free will.

If good things happen to you, thank God for his blessings. If bad things happen, thank God for giving you this to deal with. As life is a struggle, He only gives you what He knows you can handle.

Scientology: You’re responsible for all the shit that happens to you and everyone else and we’re going to punish you for it, at your expense of course.

  • Jimmy3

I wanted to post live more than I did yesterday, but Tony is very engaging, and I felt uncomfortable tapping away on my geekpad while he’s speaking 3 feet in front of me. I think most of you reading this know what he was speaking about by now, so I’ll just speak about some of the people I met.

Robert Eckert was one of the first people to come up and greet me. What a kind, funny man. What song were you singing, again? That was awesome.

Flyonthewall and his wife are two of the coolest people I’ve ever met, and I was relieved to learn that he and I are actually two different people. I wish I would’ve had more time to hang with you guys. Salt of the Earth.

Everyone else was relieved to learn Observer is a real person. *winks* I hope you’re rocking that Faith Hill CD right now. Happy Birthday 🙂

1subgenius, where you at, man? You are hilarious. Tell everyone how it was.

Vaquera asked me not to tell anyone that she is sweet because something something something vocabulary. Well, you know what? screw vocabulary. Vaquera is very sweet.

Frodis is adorable, and I owe her a drink. If you ever want to collect, let me know.

Miss Tia will probably not get enough credit for everything she did for this event, but I hope that’s not true. Thank you so much. Next time you’re back up here, let me know.

Everyone was much better looking than I expected (no offense). Especially flyonthewall. I would hit it and not ever quit it.

People were just handing me free stuff from the moment I got there, and I felt kinda like a mooch. Tia gave me a beautiful bookmarker that I’ll actually use until I die. Fly gave me these slick lego figurines (pics to follow). 1sub gave me a cool trucker hat and t-shirt. Vaquera gave me a lolipop and a business card. I’m gonna call that up.

Chuck Beatty was giving away a trunk full of Scientology books. Thank you so much.

I met a few other people who either just lurk here or didn’t seem to want to share their handle. It was great to meet you guys, too. If I forgot anyone or didn’t get a chance to meet anyone, I’m sorry, it was pretty overwhelming meeting so many people for the first time.

As for Tony Ortega… The main thing I have to say about Tony is how much I admire his passion. Because, let’s face it, when you’re going to places like London, Paris and Sydney to give these talks, you’d think it’d be difficult to be enthusiastic about Parma Hts., Ohio. And it should be. But the guy brings it, and talking to him, you can tell he is genuinely passionate about what he reports each and every day.

It was an honor to meet you, sir.

    • salin

Great report. Almost like being there.. well, without hearing Tony’s passion, and meeting the cool Bunker denizens. More like a brief taste of what it felt like to be there. Thanks.

    • Lucille Austero

Thanks for sharing your experience with us, J3!!!

    • Observer

It was great to finally meet you! I just crawled out of bed (got home a little after 2 a.m.) so I haven’t had a chance to open the rest of it yet. I’m going to have coffee first so I won’t have some kind of fatal accident while doing so.

      • Jimmy3

DONT OPEN THE ONE WITH THE RED WIRE

        • Jimmy3

dammit i almost forgot to tell you

          • Observer

Thank Xenu I decided to wait!

    • Andrea ‘i-Betty’ Garner

      Great post. Thanks, Jim 🙂

    • Beth

Thanks for that Jimmy. I love that all you guys got to meet each other and hang out. That is just so cool.

    • Ruby

Thank you, Jimmy. It was great reporting and so much fun to see you!

      • Jimmy3

        what time is recess today?
        same time as yesterday?

        • Ruby

          Yes. 🙂

    • aquaclara

Sniff, sniff. Such a warm note from our Irish-inspired shamrock. The best part of this entire tour has become all the live reports of friends meeting new friends, first-hand accounts and Tony’s stories, plus of course the photos. You just wrote what has to be your best post ever, Jimmy3. Cheers to all of you for making this event so incredibly special, even via posts and pics. (And a wave to 1Sub, echoing your comment; I hope he comes back to posting soon).
For all of you who went to Ohio, well, thank you for sharing the experience here!

Very happy to hear everyone had a good time. Thanks for the report Jimmy.

I promise that Miss Tia will be shown a proper amount of appreciation. I have a gift box sitting here on my desk that I will be sending out to her soon. There is one more thing I want to add, then it’s off with the mailman. ; )

      • Miss Tia

No, i don’t need to be shown any appreciation!!! I do look forward to the Mardi Gras disco ball I know you have for me though. 🙂

Uh, I will make one exception for shows of appreciation, don’t let that stop anyone from getting me a ride on the GOODYEAR blimp! 😀 (And I know that’s impossible to do…..so you’re back to not having to do anything for me! As it should be!! )

        • NOLAGirl (Stephanie)

It’s going to be hard for you to say no when the package is on your doorstep and I’m down here. Hehehehe!! You know we love you Miss Tia, just let us adore & appreciate you. 😀

          • Miss Tia

Well that is true. They’ll just leave it on the bench next to my door for me! I don’t like people making a fuss….

            • NOLAGirl (Stephanie)

I know. I’m only making one fuss, I promise. 😀

            • Miss Tia

I shouldn’t make a fuss about people making a fuss….um, fusses about fusses? Do they cancel each other out? You know i love ya!! ♥ Just don’t like anyone to go out of their way for me! ((hugs))

        • Robert Eckert

We would get you your very own blimp (Goodyear manufactured, natch) if we could.

          • Miss Tia

THANK YOU for the thought!! You know they ONLY cost about $25 million to build? If I won the lottery, I’d have ’em build one that would stay in Akron ALWAYS and have a daily ‘fly over’ my house! 😀

          • flyonthewall

Hey Robert! We got back ok and am just catching up on articles/comments now. It was great meeting you, too bad we couldn’t stay longer but the drive that day caught up w/us quick.
Do you happen to have 1sub’s email? I should of got it while there. He lost his minifig and I want to make him another and send it to him. Can’t do Pope but I can do even better.

            • Robert Eckert

My e-mail (not secret) is bobxtm@yahoo.com, I don’t want to post his publicly but write me and I’ll send it to you

            • TexasBroad

Going back in time from 10-5 to tell you I was born and raised in St. Louis. I lived near Carondolet park and went to Bishop DuBourg. A LONG time ago – over 30 yrs! I still have lots of family there and make it back. Hope to meet you and Mrs Fly someday. I don’t think Bunker get together will be in St. Louis, but hopefully we all make it to wherever it lands!

GTFO!! I live on The Hill and did my sophmore yr at Dubourg! That would of been 93ish. Email me at fool4aliphetime at gmail dot com if you ever want to meet up. Us STL SP’s have to stick together.

We go to the YMCA in Carondolet Park often. Small world eh? 🙂

            • TexasBroad

Just sent you an email! How weird that we went to the same highschool, even if at different times!

    • ReallyMGM

Thanks for the report Jimmy. Sounds like lots of fun. Damn it, I missed a party!

    • Allie

Great post and fun comments about meeting fellow Bunkeroos.
Your descriptions are exactly how I would see them. Love the photos too.Thx.

    • Madison KinSmed

Jimmy, you did a fab job. I didn’t get to ‘read it all until this am but thanks to you and the rest of the brunettes in attendance, I felt like I was there! Thank you!

    • Kay

I’m glad you finally made it to the venue. I have been amused at all the speculation there was as to your actual age….I knew all along you were 15, 16 yrs old tops. When you walked to the venue, I figured “OK, now I know he’s 15…he can’t drive yet, and he’s just going there for the free Legos” Now I will have to report you to the authorities in Ohio for underaged drinking and not bringing a note from your Mom letting you stay out after curfew. Sigh….it’s always something with you, isn’t it, Shamrock boy? 🙂

      • Jimmy3

I’m not that young. I said I was born during the Reagan administration many times. People just don’t pay that much attention, I guess.

        • K2P2(KnitNut)

young is a relative term, sweetie. You from my view you is young!

        • Kay

I paid attention….I was just yanking your chain cuz I like yanking your chain.

        • Robert Eckert

Reagan was president just a few months ago, or so it seems to us elder sages.

    • Sandy

Now, how ’bout those promised pictures … 🙂

    • K2P2(KnitNut)

YES YES YES! Nice post Jimmy3

Really regret not getting to speak with you last night.

      • Miss Tia

That so succinctly summed it up, didn’t it?

Key to spending one on one time with Jimmy, get locked out of a room! 🙂

    • Miss Tia

What a wonderful succinct write up. Especially the last paragraph. I received plenty of credit–not that I look for it. Being able to arrange things and ensure people had a great time was a pleasure that was all mine.

People also were dive bombing you to hug ya too! Handing ya stuff, hugging ya….the bunker is a great place! 🙂

      • Todd Tomorrow

Your the best, Tia. Thanks from all of us!

        • Miss Tia

Happy to help out bunkerites at any time in any way I can! I read somewhere you met someone on the bunker you’re dating? (I was catching up on comments yesterday and was reading 3 posts worth). Congratulations!! Very happy for you!!

This bill is for you or am I flipping you the bird?

    • salin

Seriously – completely banned? That would be a coup! I have special vitriol for JJ having now realized his predatory language lessons lure for newly arrived students in Boston.

I am still working on Columbus… but man, how many xes does it take to get pulled?!

      • Madison KinSmed

I have the same ? about how many xes does it take?

        • salin

I wonder if the xes get negated if your IP gets blocked (as in the whacks gotten in before the block message.)

Someone has the art down. Any LRon Lecture/Dianetics lecture in San Jose get’s quickly whacked enough to be taken down. Whoever the whackamoler is, they have my respect.

      • Juicer77

Not completely banned, only from a certain area, and – I think – a certain period of time. But there have been successes where large chunks disappeared in one city in one day. 🙂

        • salin

I have seen some big takedowns. I was whacking away at Sfbay ads (my small contribution to what most have been some massive effort) when their presence dropped to a third of the size it was.

I don’t even want to admit how many times I have whacked at the Columbus ads in the past 2 days. (Each ad well over 100). So far – still there. Now I am on a mission. Sooner or later the number has to be hit.

      • Robert Eckert

He has had his accounts banned before, but eventually has gotten news accounts. It is somewhat inconvenient for them.

    • salin

Missed it earlier – your scripture piece this morning: priceless.

  • InterestedObserver12

Great interview, Jeff and Bill. I joined staff in October of ’73 and was soon turned off by the GO raiding my Cl 4 org for staff. When they tried to reg me (I was Dissem Sec at the time) I told them, “A Sea Org member tried and true. I’d rather be with Ron than Mary Sue.” I thought it was funny. They thought it was grounds for a gang bank Sec Check. Turned out we were both right: but I have the last laugh. LMFAO!

    • Todd Tomorrow

“Gang bang sec check,’ Glad that will always remain a ,”mystery sandwich” in my head!

      • InterestedObserver12

A security check is normally done by an auditor asking someone questions while they are connected to an e-meter. Supposedly the meter indicates whether the question stimulates mental electrical charge. A gang bang sec check is when there are more than two people in the room asking questions. 🙂

    NEW POST IS UP

    • aquaclara

      wwwhhhaaaat? a surprise!

  • Mighty Korgo of Teegeeack

Fascinating interview, especially the part where the Washington cult office was raided.

I just knew that Hubbard was impotent and I bet he was having his issues before the nurse found he was completely impotent in 1985. The only reasons to become a cult leader are the money and the sex. There are lots of stories about the money but pitifully few about the sex.

Hearing about Mary Sue having her head nailed to the floor brought some sunshine into my dull afternoon, too. I don’t believe in Karma, but I love it when it happens. If only the entire universe was so just.

    • Kay

OK….as a nurse may I say that I found it weird when it was stated that his nurse found out he was impotent? Like….HOW? Nurses don’t, uh, check male patients for impotence any more than they check out female patients for their sexual responsiveness. Seriously, to quote Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s “sometimes the mind just reels.”

  • joan nieman

Thank you to Jeff and Chris for the always informative videos These interviews show what is really going on in the chaotic cherch of scientology.

    • Miss Tia

They had a LONG drive ahead of them today!!

  • Kay

It was so much fun last night seeing pictures of the “Bunkerites”. I love being able to put faces with names/avis. Great write up from Jimmy3 down thread.

  • anoni81b4u

    Interesting interview Mr. Augustine.
I listened to the entire thing !

    • ze moo

Robyn Capella has some great stories to tell and Chris knows how to prompt her for them. Great job done by both.

  • Kay

Wow I think this is the quietest I have ever seen the Bunker, seriously.

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz………

    • romanesco

Did you see the new post?

      • Kay

I saw the two videos posted above, and refreshed, but that’s all I see as far as posts. (Chris Shelton and Bill Franks videos) Maybe I’m having server or computer problems. Is there a newer post in addition to those?

I was there when LA Day reached SH size. Guillaume Lesevre (ED Int) and Marc Yeager (CO CMO) were on the ground running things. It was all driven by Upper management with WUS Base SO members updating the Central Files and Addresso, ITO OEC-FEBC trainees holding posts in LA Day. Stats lasted for two weeks and then crashed when SO members and ITO trainess pulled out..

  • The day of the raids in DC and LA, Hubbard was at WHQ in La Quinta I am pretty sure. I had joined the SO the month before as a Qual auditor and he had given the auditors 3 lectures about auditing, TRs, etc., and was reviewing our session tapes. As far as I remember this occurred up until the day of the raids. For the next 5 1/2 months it was total silence from his end.

  • When DM took out Mary Sue he was not in Action. By then he was Special Project Ops. John Nelson was the Action Chief in those days.
