Orphanage

 
6. The bribe worked. Scheduled for a July 1943 train to Auschwitz, Paulette and her older sister Suzy were instead moved to an orphanage, one of four Belgian orphanages they lived in from 1943 to 1948. The two girls were often separated because Suzy was two years older.
