Earlier this week, we reported on a very well written court brief that was submitted on behalf of Chrissie Bixler and the four other plaintiffs suing Danny Masterson and the Church of Scientology. The document was in opposition to Scientology’s attempt to force four of those five plaintiffs — the four who are former Scientologists — into “religious arbitration,” thereby sidelining their lawsuit.

In the third of three big lawsuits filed last year by a powerful national legal team, a child sexual abuse case filed in Miami on behalf of a woman going by the name Jane Doe, a document appeared in an online docket today from Jane Doe’s attorneys saying they expect Scientology leader David Miscavige to show up for a video deposition in Los Angeles on the morning of March 24.

Masterson: Judge unimpressed by Scientology whining, denies request for sanctions

Judge Steven Kleifield denied Scientology’s motions for sanctions today in a hearing held at the Los Angeles Superior Court and otherwise brushed aside a lot of whining and bellyaching by attorneys for Scientology and Danny Masterson in order to reschedule various matters in a lawsuit filed by four women who say Masterson raped them.

Scientology made national headlines when it released hundreds of balloons at the opening of the Ventura ideal org last month. Neighbors and concerned citizens complained, and Ventura Mayor Matt LaVere claimed “The truth is that the City EXPRESSLY FORBID the Church of Scientology from doing this balloon release, and they ignored us and did it anyway. There will be a serious price to pay for this. The Church of Scientology broke our laws by littering and damaging our natural environment, and even worse, they ignored our demands not to do so. I have instructed our city attorney to review these actions and to hold the Church of Scientology liable to the fullest extent allowed by law.”
