Last week, the Underground Bunker revealed that the Los Angeles Police Department is investigating That ’70s Show actor Danny Masterson in three cases of rape or sodomy of women who, like Masterson himself, were members of the Church of Scientology. Hours after our story appeared, the LAPD itself confirmed that it was investigating the three cases of sexual assault.
Last month, we told you that Minister Louis Farrakhan, speaking at the Nation of Islam’s annual “Saviours’ Day” celebration, mentioned his organization’s relationship with Scientology, saying that he planned to stick by the church as it was being buried under negative press, and as Leah Remini “went in hard” against it on her A&E television program.
On Friday, Louis Theroux’s unconventional documentary My Scientology Movie opens in select U.S. cities after a successful run in the U.K. and Australia. The movie was largely shot in Los Angeles in 2014, and besides featuring Theroux himself it spends much of its time considering the veracity and perspective of former Church of Scientology official Mark “Marty” Rathbun.

Last week our man at the Hollywood Celebrity Centre let us know that Nancy Cartwright’s movie, In Search of Fellini, had screened, and he wanted us to understand that it was a movie with more Scientologists involved than maybe any other ever. From Nancy, who wrote it, to its director, to many of its actors, and plenty of other people on the crew, this is a film that Scientology is hoping will do well.
