Cathriona White’s Scientology ‘twin’ on grueling courses was an actor named Travis Case

CathrionaTravisAa

Yesterday we broke the news that Cathriona White, Jim Carrey’s on-again, off-again girlfriend who killed herself Monday, had been taking Scientology courses for four or five years. Her friends told us that when she began dating Carrey again earlier this year, she had recently finished the “Purification Rundown” course at the Hollywood Celebrity Centre, and had started on the “Survival Rundown,” an intense course that she reportedly had trouble with.

Now, we have a little more information about who she was doing those courses with, a small-time actor and professional poker player named Travis Case. She identifies Case as her “twin” in Instagram photos, and even posted a photograph of the two of them going through the Purification Rundown’s sauna regimen.

In some Scientology courses, members are paired with a “twin” to go through the exercises together.

It was one of our eagle-eyed readers, Pete Griffiths in Ireland, who spotted tell-tale images and hashtags that Cathriona posted to her Instagram account.

Cat identifies Case as her twin in this photo as well as the location — “CC” — which is short for the Celebrity Centre (and we do recognize the literature in the photo as that from Scientology). Sunny Pereira, a former Sea Org member who worked at the Celebrity Centre, tells us she does recognize this room as one that is in the facility.

Here’s another photo Cat posted of the two of them, in the sauna doing the Purification Rundown…

Case has been a Scientologist since at least 1998, he’s an aspiring actor who has worked as Ashton Kutcher’s stand-in on Two and a Half Men, and at his Instagram account he announced this summer that he was becoming a professional poker player.

Here’s a photo he posted of himself going for an audition in 1920s garb…

And another he posted of himself with fellow actor and Scientologist Patrick Renna, best known for his role in 1993’s The Sandlot

We’re trying to reach Mr. Case today. We’d like to ask him about doing the Purification Rundown with Cat, and we’d like to know if he was also “twinned” with her on the Survival Rundown, a lengthy and intense course of “objective processes” that is creating problems for some Scientologists.

In May, we wrote a story about the Survival Rundown with help from Chris Shelton, a former Sea Org executive. He told us that he’s heard troubling things about how the length of the Survival Rundown and its “objectives” exercises is causing bewildering effects for its participants.

“There is no question that these are psychologically damaging procedures which were put together by L. Ron Hubbard for at least two obvious reasons,” Shelton says. “One, to get his followers into a state where they are willing to be controlled by Scientology and give over their right to free will and independent thought; two, to induce a kind of overwhelming hypnotic state which has to be ‘run out’ during the course of the Objectives process, convincing a person that he has somehow shed past trauma, stress and ‘unconscious states,’ when in fact the Objectives themselves are what produce that stress, trauma and unconsciousness. Every single Objective process follows this pattern.”

Cathriona reportedly stalled during her pursuit of the “objectives” and the Survival Rundown several months before she killed herself. Had she been twinned with Case on that course? We’d like to ask him that question.

UPDATE: Former Sea Org worker and Int Base employee John Peeler remembers Travis Case and his brother, Aaron — “I grew up with Travis’ brother Aaron Case in Scientology and knew Travis through Aaron. Travis and Aaron were both born into Scientology and grew up in it.vAaron was also at the Int Base while I was there all throughout the 90’s. Aaron was a security guard and was brought up to the base because he has a black belt in various forms of martial arts as taught by his dad Al Case who is a martial arts instructor. Al used to have classes and most of his clients were Scientologists, me being included for a time. Aaron and I both left the Sea Org at about the same time. We were both being held at the Old Gilman House for a long stint before we left. I think Aaron eventually routed out and I managed to blow [Scientology jargon for “escape”]. We talked briefly a couple of years ago, but Aaron is still very in, and I let him know how I felt about Scientology, so we don’t talk anymore.”

Chris Shelton’s interview of Robyn Capella, part five

Chris and Robyn dive into OSA’s tactics. Here’s his summary…

In this episode we get into her experience with OSA as the Director of Special Affairs for Mountain View org and what that entailed. There’s a lot of ground we cover in this, but there’s even more to her OSA work in next week’s video. It was just too much to pack into one episode. We talk here about what OSA does and the court cases she was involved in, directly working with Kendrick Moxon in the Cynthia Kisser libel case. We also cover what the day-to-day life of a DSA is like and how they are educated on dealing with protesters. However, we also address something much more important: the mindset a dyed-in-the-wool, Kool-Aid drinking cult member when they are exposed to the raw truth about Scientology through their day-to-day work. Despite what you would think or what “common sense” might tell you, those who work for OSA can manage to convince themselves that everything critics, ex-members and the media say are all a bunch of vicious and unfounded lies. It’s hard to believe knowing what we know about the organization but it’s actually a statement of the level of mind control and delusion that Scientologists suffer from that intelligent and otherwise sensible people like Robyn or even the likes of Kendrick Moxon, can continue to shunt off cognitive dissonance by sticking with the Scientology scripts and not allowing themselves to even think that the “enemy” might have a point or two. I thought this was perhaps one of the most important parts of this interview with Robyn and we take it up a couple of times to really drive home how Scientology gets away with it. I hope this is as interesting to everyone as it was to me.

Hey, maybe we could start a petition to end scientology’s tax exempt status. Anyone want to have a go at this? I’ll help. Visit change.org for info on starting a petition.

    • TonyOrtega
      • Madison KinSmed

Yeah, I saw that. That was to the White House. Your article notes that it’s “badly written etc…” I’m proposing a new effort incorporating Jeff’s suggestions and Derek’s mailing list and some ways to make it go viral. The one you posted about was pre-Emmy’s wins for “Going Clear”, pre-pub of TUML, your hacker, etc., etc.

        Never hurts to try again.

        • romanesco

Get Paul Haggis to draft it and I’ll sign.

          • Madison KinSmed

Love this idea. Maybe he’ll put his name to it if we draft it. And Alex Gibney, too. Won’t hurt to ask. I’m going to search for contact info for them if anyone has it send it my was madisonsks (AT) gmail (DOT) com. I have Mr. Gibney’s Twitter info so don’t need that.

    • flyonthewall

I had a whitehouse petition to free xenu but it didn’t really go anywhere. I blame scientology

      • Madison KinSmed

Didn’t know that was you – you did a great job with the info you had!

We have more info now (what Jeff proposed ‘re the IRS “complaint” form +) about what to include, and we can widen the target – Obama’s on Twitter now and we could get Derek’s mailing list so we’re broadcasting it to more people. Plus, we can try to make the petition go viral via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat, Reddit, YouTube, Aaron, Chris, Nora, David, etc and the new Bunker people “Going Clear” brought in.

Would you want to try a new effort with me? I’m an experienced and successful marketer. You can ask Chris Shelton about my professional background or I can email info to Tony so he can pass it on to you.

Jim Carrey used Prozac for many years and struggled with depression for many years. This is no secret and Carrey has spoken openly about it on the record many times. So why would Scientology allow one of its own to date a “Psych case” as the Church would characterize Carrey?

FWIW: OG rumor lines 2005-2008 had Jim Carrey being an “under the radar” crypto-Scientologist along with Will Smith. In 2007 Will Smith was parroting Scientology PR lines given to him by whoever his handlers were at CC. Smith said in an Access Hollywood piece:

β€œWhen I sit and I talk with Tom Cruise, he is one of the
greatest spirits that I’ve ever met – someone who is committed to making
the world better,” Will said. β€œYou have people [that] are attacking and
wanna fight that don’t know nothing β€” how you gonna not know nothing
about Scientology and attack somebody? It’s dangerous and it’s ignorant.

    ref: http://www.today.com/id/22088489/ns/today-today_entertainment/t/will-smith-defends-tom-cruise-scientology/

There was a concerted move by the Cult of Scientology in 2003-2008 to build a newer and bigger celebrity base. Tom Cruise led the effort. Scientology and Cruise’s main targets were David and Victoria Beckham. In this period, Cruise, the Beckham’s, and Will and Jada were linked and seen together. What I heard on OG rumor lines was that Jim Carrey was getting auditing. Perhaps he was and he was dabbling.

In 2005 the Cult had a sizeable list of celebs: Cruise, Travolta, Beghe, Remini, Archer, Prepon, the Ribisi clan, Beck, Moss, Corea, the Masterson clan, Elfman, the Lewis clan, Alley, Tambor, Black, Van Susteren, Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley, Sheehan, Boniadi, Cartwright, Bell, Ceberano, Hayes, Katselas, Lee, and even J. Lo through her Scientologist father. The list of B and C actors is longer. The Cult also had air cover at CAA through Kevin Huvane and other agents. Cruise had “safe-pointed” Scientology in this period through his own influence and the influence he exerted on the eminence Steven Spielberg and other Hollywood legends.

Celebrities were crucial to Miscavige’s overall concept of Ideal Orgs, of having opulent buildings into which Tom Cruise would be proud to take his friends and fellow celebs. One wonders who the CC targets were in this period. Carrey’s name was mentioned often enough back then but who knows?

Jim Carrey is obviously shocked by the news of Cathriona White’s death and my heart goes out to him. It is a terrible tragedy linked, once again, to the Church of Scientology.

    • Douglas D. Douglas

I remember hearing about the effort surrounding the Beckhams and the Smiths. Looks like Jada and the kids were affected, but it didn’t stick with Will Smith.

The days of Scientology plucking celebrities through industry connections are pretty much over now. (Not that they had a terribly easy time of it before.)

    • jane456

There is a reason that she was allowed around such a high profile SP, the reason that trumps everything in Scientology. Money. They would let anyone in the door if they see cash potential, even if it is a remote possibility. They would welcome everyone who was in Going Clear in the door if there was a good chance of getting cash out of them.

I agree that they should be stripped of tax exempt status. They will only continue and become more ruthless and steal more lives. They are thieves of lives.

  • Sunny Sands

Here is a picture from Cathriona’s Instagram account showing her getting an IV drip. From the hashtags, it seems to be vitamins. It looks scary.

    • Supper Powers

That’s a popular trend especially for the upper crust 30somethings who are hungover. They call for in home vitamin therapy the morning after. Not suggesting she is hungover in this photo, just that vitamin therapy via IV is a hip trend.

      • David E Love

Probably Vitamin B or B-Complex IV?

        • Sunny Sands

The hashtags say vitamin c and vitamin b, so I think you’re right.

        • Supper Powers

I’m no expert, but since that’s a vitamin that is depleted from long bouts of drink, I imagine it’s a popular flavor in their bag of tricks.

Vitamins and most ‘nutritional supplements’, at least in the US, are for the most part not regulated, and are sold over the counter. No oversight.

            • daisy

I am referring to route IV.

            • salin

The damn well should – but if it is beginning to be a trend as others suggest, I am guess that, too is unregulated. US – where we have been sold on the glories of the free markets – it is better to let someone make the big bucks than it is to introduce regulations. *eye roll*

Yay, Columbus team! I slacked off ’cause I didn’t think I was accomplishing anything but maybe my red-xing helped so I’ll do some more. Maybe there is just a lag time….

    • salin

Boston… Oh Boston. Greg posted about 20 of the same ads in 4 days. On the other hand – attrition – the number of ads dropped from almost 100 on Tuesday to around 60 today. Then again – its stats Thursday so Greg, JJ and the gang will probably flood us more. If enough of us stay steadily whacking away at them, and complaining (esp focus on the BIG spam) – sooner or later we will annoy CL enough to do something. Before my time, but I hear there have been successes at scaling Boston back in the past. Let’s just do it again.

Please folks join us. Or if you got discouraged – maybe we can focus efforts on specific areas, even 6-8 people, whacking the same areas 2-3 times a day – can add up quickly. Maybe it’s just me – stubborn.

I tried to hit Columbus hard last week (whacked each add nearly 200 times…) What I learned from Columbus – I think unique whacks count, multiple whacks from the same IP address not so much. I experimented in different whacking amounts and efforts – often continuing til I got blocked. Now, I Reset the modem, check ‘What is my IP’ and whack some more. Less convenient, but I think those whacks register – and I probably did the majority of my whacks in ways that didn’t register.

      Anyone else have any insights?

      • Robert Eckert

It’s possible that hitting the same ad from the same IP multiple times actually causes Craigslist to ignore your hits. Nobody really knows what their algorithm is.

        • salin

I spent way too much time learning that. But – the tortoise way (less a day, but relentless with fresh IPs) – we got some knocked out and the list (at least temporarily) whittled down.

          • Robert Eckert

The long view helps. When this project started, there were always thousands of ads up at any time. Now it is generally less than 500 surviving ads at any time.

            • salin

              Encouraging to hear. Thanks.

I got to say Chris and Robyn your video was awesome awesome.

Anyone know if the coroner is bound to investigate this death? Someone yesterday suggested that her files were probably in the process of being shredded. They might find themselves in a pickle. There’s too much evidence out there that files are kept for them to deliver nothing to a Coroner if a request for info is made.

    • TonyOrtega

      The coroner did an autopsy.

    • MostEthicalPimp

But if they shred her folder what will they do when she comes back next life time to continue up the bridge?

Thank you to Tony and my blessings to Cat’s friends and family.

I say this too often on this blog, but it is always sincere. I am sorry that happened to you. I am glad you are out. Thank you for all you do.

      • Tory Christman

Thank you so much, daisy. I now know 12 $cientology kids (young people) who have taken their own lives (not including Cat, who I did not know). Phillip Gayle jumped out of a 15 story window of M.I.T University, ON L Ron Hubbard’s Birthday. Many others had one parent “in”, one out OR they wanted out. To any lurkers: There definitely IS help outside of C of $: If you need it, please make sure to use it. People Magazine now has the story. I wonder if they’ll print it? “Prominent journalist” indeed.

    “Cathriona White, Jim Carrey’s
on-and-off girlfriend, was involved in the Church of Scientology, and a
prominent journalist says she was taking classes at the controversial
church’s Hollywood Celebrity Centre several months before her apparent suicide.

I had to Google “incel” the group these creeps are posting in. incel = Involuntarily celibate.
On Facebook I see a few references to four Chan and to his asking people what religion they follow.

    NO LEGO FOR YOU! NEXT!

  • Sunny

I saw some commenter on one site about this suicide saying something about why is it only when it’s a Scientologist that they mention religion? If someone from some other religion kills themselves, the religion is not mentioned as the reason behind it.
    It poses the question:
Is there any other religion besides Scientology that does not allow its members to seek mental health professionals when it appears they may need it?

    • daisy

Not real religions to my knowledge. Many cults and extremist religions I am sure it is common.

      • Free Minds, Free Hearts

daisy is that a new avi or have you had it awhile and I am just oblivious?

        • daisy

Had it for a while. It was taken in the 80s when glamour photos were all the rage.

          • Free Minds, Free Hearts

            LOL

          • Baby

            hahahahhahaha

    • Ruby

Also to note, I am not aware of any other religion that claims to be or come from a “modern science of mental health”.

      • Kestrel

        Good point.

    • FollowTheMoney

Great point. So in Ms Whites case there are these factors of interest:
      – forbidden to seek professional mental healthcare
      – possibly required to disconnect from partner
      – having recently participated in harmful chemical practices (niacin overdose)
      – perhaps being pressured for money

    • Ninara Poll

Some fundamentalist Protestant sects… although those sects tend to be more cults than proper religious groups. (I live in a part of the U.S.where that sort of cult-like Protestantism is common)

    • Acherontia

I think many ultra-conservative sects religions have probably had this issue, particularly ones with a general fear or distrust of the “mainstream world”. I think some religions are trying to accommodate mental health care in addition to comfort in faith.

This shunning of psychiatric health and the repetitive nature of these “cures” reminds me of the case of Anneliese Michel, a young German woman who died in the 70s from… an exorcism. She had various mental health issues (epilepsy, depression, etc) and she and her believed she was possessed. She underwent various rites for hours a day or months and died of malnutrition, neglect, and dehydration.

And yet, exorcisms and other rituals and processes that are repetitive and damaging in nature keep happening.

    • Kay

I believe that Christian Scientists do not believe in medical or psychiatric care. They believe in faith healing for any kind of illness or emotional distress. There are also smaller fundamental-type christian groups that don’t believe in medical or psychological intervention.

      • April

I think the Jehovah’s Witnesses are rather averse to professional mental health treatment also.

      • LHS

Christian Science bothers me. When they make the news, it’s usually because a child died from something that could have been cured with proper medical treatment. I get that competent adults have a right to refuse medical treatment, but I don’t like when they make these choices for a child.

    • LHS

Sometimes people’s religious and/or cultural beliefs keep them from recognizing symptoms of mental illness. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re opposed to mental health treatment like Scientologists are, though.

Xander had a few hiccups in e-filing that motion in Pinellas County; since he’s a noob at doing this in Florida, his first couple of attempts were rejected because of minor errors. But today he got a notification from the court that his filing was accepted. So that old injunction case has been officially reopened and his name is listed on the docket page as “Intervenor.”

    • Xander The Intervenor. I like.

OT: Dodo, I didn’t get to see WF1 today as she left late and had to get to Cinci, hope you see her tonight!!!

Sheesh, I suppose they had to get there for some silly ball-game or whatnot, how could they stiff their #1 fan?

          • Miss Tia

Yeah, a college football game. They were suppose to leave around 3pm and fly around Akron. They didn’t leave til a little past 3:30 and only made a brief circle over HQ and then headed straight south πŸ™ The PLAN was to fly around Akron for an hour first since WF1 is not coming back any time soon since it’s headed towards it’s ‘home’ base in Florida after being built here, test flown, etc. They might have had some issues. They had the light display on it for only a short bit, then had to take it off and they won’t try another til it gets to Florida.

No BLIMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in Akron’s skies til at least April πŸ™

Last time I wore an orange dress (sleeveless v-neck with embroidery trim), a lady stopped me and said she liked my dress and necklace (handmade in India) and we had a nice chat. For National Home Made Cookie Day I made chocolate Mexican wedding cookies. I actually waited til I ate dinner before I had a cookie or two or three and still counting (though I sampled plenty of dough πŸ˜‰ This recipe is a keeper!!!

      • Miss Tia

I sprinkled some cinnamon in when I was mixing the flour! Nope, never read it—I’ve heard of it though, that counts, right? πŸ˜‰ I don’t have netflix. I dunno how ‘mailable’ these would be or I’d offer to send you some priority mail—my concern would be the powdered sugar. White powder in the mail? Hmmmm…..probably not a good idea.

        • beauty for ashes

Nooo don’t even think about it. I’m not supposed to eat sugar. But get that book from the library if you can. I think you would LOOOOVE it.

          • Miss Tia

I was at the KSU library yesterday and I might return tomorrow—I try to only go every few months. I frustratingly thought I grabbed a book by the author from that author’s section with a few other of their books but didn’t realize til I got home that I grabbed a book with the same title but it’s a book of analysis of the work. GAH!!! Frustrating and I have a bee in my bonnet to have the RIGHT book! Need it to study for my Bunker Christmas special! πŸ˜€ Though I could do it without studying. I’m gonna make an attempt to be ‘educated’ HAH! I’ll see if they have that. Surprisingly they had some Jackie Collins books (not for Bunker Christmas special πŸ˜‰ They have a widely versed fiction section!

They need to put analysis books elsewhere though or label that shelf! I believe I’ll suggest that tomorrow.

I was reading a article about her off of @media_lush’s site, last night..it was linked to “The Sun UK”. Someone talked to the the gardener of the house that she was renting..what he said sent red flags flying all over the place, for me anyway. Here is his quote and a link to media_lush’s site and a link to the the original article from “The Sun UK”…

    https://www.scientologybollocks.com/did-scientology-brainwashing-techniques-force-jim-carreys-girlfriend-to-kill-herself-the-secrets-out-the-reason-cruise-is-selling-all-his-hollywood-real-estate-is-everyone-thinks-hes-a-douc/

“Frank Nakama, the gardener at the property where Cathriona died, said she had seemed paranoid and depressed in recent days.

He told The Sun: β€œThe last time I saw her was on Friday. I wanted to use the ladder so she opened the garage for me, but then closed the door very quickly, almost before I had left the garage.

β€œShe wasn’t smiling. She seemed paranoid β€” she’d also installed security cameras all over the property in the last couple of months.””

It could mean nothing..I have not read this anywhere else,so who knows. I just found it odd and maybe worth a mention.

    • daisy

I think the majority of people who commit suicide sends out red flags, even if they don’t mean to. We don’t always catch them or misinterpret them.

      • PlanetJ

Yea..after reading it again I can see why she probably did that. My first thought was that she was scared someone was watching her. But after I re-read it,I can see now why she was probably trying to rush him out, unfortunately.
I read this really late last night on an overtired brain..after re-reading it,it makes sense. This story has really shaken me up and brought up some things that have haunted me for along time. I’ll make sure to read more closely, next time I post something and link it.
I hope all is well with you today,Daisy. xo

Here’s what they left out (and I really had no expectation that they would use it; I’m fine with what they aired): “I want to make it clear that I am not saying that Cat killed herself because of Scientology. People kill themselves because they are depressed. But I can say that if Cat was battling depression, the last thing she should have been involved in is Scientology.”

    • jazzlover

See? There’s your problem right there. You made too much sense for them.

    • daisy

I am hoping Entertainment Tonight Canada will use the whole interview. They might cause Jim Carry is Canadian.

    • beauty for ashes

      AMEN!!!

    • outraged

I cannot even begin to imagine how someone dating a very high profile celebrity, who is keeping her affiliation with a questionable organization away from her family, doing exercises that are NOT likely in the least to help with depression, could continue to walk that tricky tightrope.

Catherine did not have her needs validated by Scientology, probably the exact opposite happened. She felt like it was HER fault she was depressed. That there was NO way to battle this illness. And then her lover left her again. Tragically she was alone. Her friends said that if she posted a remark on fb instead of twitter, they might have been able to stop her.

Often those who are most severely depressed are not the ones who successfully commit suicide. They did a study of people who committed suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. Some people did survive the fall. And they found out that those with the severest depression were not the ones who died. The victims were those with the best method, the best plan.

      • seriouslyWTF

I just lost a friend two months ago to suicide. I won’t say how she did it, but I will say that she had to have done some research. So hard to understand. She was funny, smart and loved by many. Makes me think of Smokey Robinson’s, Tears of a Clown.
On the very same day another very good friend of mine passed away, but in his case it was natural causes.
Needless to say it was a sucky day.
I miss them both very much.

May I ask, how old was your friend, the dear who took her own life?

          • seriouslyWTF

            She was 50.

      • TonyOrtega

If you jump off the Golden Gate Bridge, your intentions or reasons have nothing to do with your chances of survival.

        • outraged

that’t not what i meant. It is your PLAN that has everything to do with your chance of survival. I am part of a mental health forum. We have many many people who have tried to commit suicide. Reason, logic has no part in this. It is their crazy talking, “there is no point to my life, my family will be better off…” All of this stuff talking in your head telling you to put the hose on the car and be done with it all.

Whether you actually die has everything to do with how well you taped the hose, did you put it in the right place, etc.

What I am saying is, there are many many depressed suicidal people out there who unsuccessfully commit suicide.

Then there are many people like me, who have what is called, suicidal ideations. We ‘think’ about suicide, daydream what we would do, but never actually do anything.

I know nothing about this girl. I know nothing about her depression. It may be what is called, situational depression. She was depressed because of her relationship but it is not an illness she had all the time. I have no idea. BUT she died because whatever she did worked. She did NOT die because she was depressed. She died from successfully killing herself. There is no one to blame. But there is every reason in the world to wonder what effect those damned SCientology tasks had on her. ALL of this affected her. Blame has no place here.

      • Douglas D. Douglas

Severe depression is, in itself, a kind of a survival mechanism. People can be so depressed they cannot function, even enough to kill themselves. There are certain medications that have to be administered under supervision, because there may be a window of opportunity in which one is still feeling the effects of the depression, but can function due to the medication. The same could be true of the superficial “wins” of Scientology. Without the proper kind of supervision (and that’s a hallmark of Scientology), it could create the window that will give a clinically depressed person just enough clarity to make a decision with tragic consequences.

        • daisy

Very good point. Another thing to watch for is if — the person who has been depressed suddenly seems more content or even happy, they may have decided to kill themselves. The decision settles things in their mind. Monitor them closely. I am going to restate your point again because it is important. Monitor closely after treatment begins, they may have the energy to consider suicide a viable solution.

      • daisy

The last paragraph puzzles me. I agree the best plan and method often ensures completion. I do not understand how they measured the degree of depression from survivors and those who did not.

        • outraged

It was a long article. Maybe I can find it again. I know I didn’t report very coherently, but I do remember their conclusions. I was a bit stunned.

      • Miss Tia

They can see people on the ground!!! It’s sort of hard to see them, but they are up there waving back at people who wave!

      • seriouslyWTF

Was that you? Ha ha. Miss Tia is correct. I had the good fortune to ride in the Goodyear Blimp many years ago. My father flew both airplanes and helicopters, so they let him take the controls. You can see very clearly.

        • Miss Tia

          That’s so awesome!!

        • Jimmy3

I did not know this, but now that I think about it, it makes sense. They fly a lot lower than planes.

    • Miss Tia

      BLIMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Thank you Dodo!!!! β™₯

      • You are very welcome!! πŸ™‚

        • Miss Tia

I really feel I got a ‘goodbye’ by proxy, so I really appreciate it!!

      • Observer

That reminds me, I was going to tell you my alarming blimp story last week but forgot.

Back in the early 90s I was visiting my folks for a few days. One night a huge storm blew in, much windier and more violent than usual for that area. We could hear a weird sound and couldn’t figure out what it was–it wasn’t part of the storm. I looked out the kitchen window and saw a blimp trying to fly south into the wind. The weird sound was the engine straining.

It was terrifying, because it was being blown all over the place. The wind forced the nose way down, then way up. it was rolling so severely that the gondola was being swung partway up one side, then partway up the other. We were literally dressed to go out and jump in the car to try to rescue them because it looked like they were going to crash. Miraculously and thankfully it didn’t happen.

After about 20 minutes they gave up and went back north. The next morning the storm was gone and we saw it again as it headed down south.

        • Miss Tia

Whoa!! Was that the Goodyear blimp??? Damn!!! Glad it didn’t crash and no one was hurt!! There was a Goodyear blimp that did crash, can’t remember what one, it was shortly after it was christened too. They totaled it.

          • Observer

I don’t remember for sure, but I think it was Goodyear.

We all stayed up really late because of the adrenaline rush. lol

            • Miss Tia

That would explain the engine noise—-the older ones had the loud engines you could hear from a few miles away. Definitely an adrenaline rush!

            • Observer

I can’t believe they didn’t give up sooner. Stuff must have been flying around like crazy inside the gondola. The crew must have been strapped in–that would have been an awfully long time for them to be flying around inside the gondola.

            • Miss Tia

They do have seat belts, but yeah, DAMN! It’s not a pressurized cabin as they can fly with the windows open.

        • Jimmy3

The little blimp that couldn’t. πŸ™

The Little Blimp That Couldn’t At First But Did The Next Day

    • Sebastian L. Jackson
      • Miss Tia

People died in the Hindenburg disaster, aren’t we dealing with enough death and tragedies already here?

        • Sebastian L. Jackson

We can’t deal with it without humor. Even dark humor.

          • Miss Tia

I personally have a twisted sense of humor, but I can’t find any humor in a blimp disaster nor in deaths the past couple days.

            • Sebastian L. Jackson

A real bad joke would have been about suicide, which is the relevant discussion here. Not about something that happened 70 years ago.

        • Jimmy3

Yeah, wtf. I wish people would just stop dying.

      • beauty for ashes

That is so not funny. And really mean spirited.

        • Sebastian L. Jackson

          I deleted it. Happy?

          • daisy

As a girl who tells accidental bad jokes all the time, I got your back. I am sure you didn’t mean to offend anyone.

          • beauty for ashes

The nice thing to do when you have offended people is just to apologize. Like say I’m sorry if I offended you. I didn’t mean to. That’s all. it’s pretty easy. Sometimes shit comes out wrong, you know?

            • Jimmy3

That’s for damn sure. I had Taco Bell for breakfast.

            • Observer

              Who’s fault is that?

            • Jimmy3

              Fuckin Obama.

            • Observer

That’s a little spooky. In similar circumstances I would have asked the same question of Mr Observer, and he would have said pretty much the same thing.

            • Jimmy3

Smart man. You know how to pick ’em.

            • Sebastian L. Jackson

            • L. Wrong Hubturd

You really know how to diffuse a situation, Jimmy.

            • Sebastian L. Jackson

If it had come across as a joke about the girl killing herself, I would definitely have apologized. But like I said, we’re talking about something that happened decades and decades ago. 70 years later and still “too soon”?

            • daisy

Let it go, its not important enough to take a stand. Everybody is sad and sensitive.

            • beauty for ashes

Whatever, I was trying to help you out. Offending Miss Tia’s love for blimps is a really callous thing maybe you didn’t know that? It’s like one person says I love these things, and you say now watch it die. Does that make sense?

            • Sebastian L. Jackson

Well, the Hindenburg was a zeppelin, not a blimp.
But let Miss Tia speak for herself. I will apologize to her if she wants me to.

            • Miss Tia

No apology is necessary but bfa actually summed it up and articulated it better than I could. Wingfoot One IS a zeppelin (as will be the other 2 new ones) but Goodyear is still referring to them as blimps because that is how they are known and loved as—blimps. I would never try to censor someone—except obviously in extreme situations which this is not. It just struck me as insensitive (and I admit I am obsessed with the Goodyear Blimp) that on such a happy post a tragedy was inserted. The past 2 days have been draining.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIAβ€”What event is the cult of Dianetics and Scientology setting up for along L. Ron Hubbard Way?

    https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-swQtp2JZByQ/Vg2vJXIedoI/AAAAAAAAFa0/GGIs0Vh9D7A/s912-Ic42/2015-10-01%252520DSC00001.jpg

According to the Church of Scientology of Los Angeles Calendar of Events website, a two-day Hubbard Dianetics Seminar begins this Saturday, October 3, 2015, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM each day (“Depression, self-doubt or insecurity blocking your full potential? Attend the Hubbard Dianetics Seminar and achieve confidence and self-respect”).

Per the Scientology Los Angeles-Hubbard Dianetics Seminar website, it appears that the 2-day event will be conducted indoors, but there is no other event scheduled.

Parked in front of the Los Angeles Organization (“LA Org”), Ace Party Rents delivered chairs and tables. They also provide canopies, tents, dance floors and china; call them in North Hollywood at (818) 503-8600, or in the South Bay at (310) 320-9000. Don’t forget that the Inglewood “Ideal” Org handles public in the South Bay!

A veritable cluster of lighting equipment, stands and cables on the sidewalk and LRH Way in front of LA Org.

Like the one set up for the Auditor’s Day event early last month, this dinky, poor excuse for a stage sits across the street from AOLA. The building seen on the right is the Main Bldg; the building at the end of LRH Way: The Fountain. The chairs and tables to the right signify outdoor eating at the Pacifica Cafe. Ooh la la!

    https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Xc_hlW8y4Do/Vg2vQLS5HZI/AAAAAAAAFcQ/e1E5IHyq1P4/s640-Ic42/2015-10-01%252520DSC02011.jpg

A power generator (“MQ Power” by Denyo) sitting along LRH Way, awaiting its marching orders.

Sea Org members apparently setting up for the event, working in front of The Fountain, where LRH Way and Fountain Avenue meet.

Do you recognize these people? I’m assuming they are Scientology Sea Org members, and I’ve zoomed in on them for your close inspection. Perhaps they’re a son, brother, nephew or grandson who has disconnected from you and/or a loved one. Isn’t time they get back in communication with you?

    https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-gfcH7ZDFmGo/Vg2vSr9DauI/AAAAAAAAFdA/x_t1hVIywPA/s912-Ic42/2015-10-01%252520DSC02021.jpg

In this picture of the truck from which they removed material, you can see the interest generated by my taking their pictures. Two of the arrows indicate the looks given me; the third arrow indicates the truck’s license plate number (“6D57342”). One arrow, incidentally, points to a Sea Org Security Guard on a bicycle, apparently talking into a walkie-talkie-type device. That Security Guard, or his clone, approached me a few minutes after I took this photo; in his hand, a Smart Phone-type device, busily taking pictures of me. I looked at my camera, a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W800, and said to him, “My camera’s bigger than yours,” and, as I walked away, I added, “See you at the Underground Bunker.”

What’s this? Activity at (formerly?) the Cadet Org.

All kinds of stuff is being stored in the front of what used to be the Cadet Org. I’m standing on Fountain looking south, into an area in which the front gate is very rarely ever open.

    https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-gJfyKsd8ZxU/Vg2vVO_xd7I/AAAAAAAAFdg/bAFxOYu4og4/s640-Ic42/2015-10-01%252520DSC02033.jpg

Equipment for the event along LRH Way. As the Security Guard (seen in the photo’s right) followed me painstakingly slow up LRH Way, I exclaimed, looking directly at him: “I have a shadow.”

Presiding over the cult’s activities with Faith and Dignity: Christianity’s Mary, mother of Jesus Christ. The statue and garden has been alive, well-kept, and growing for the last few months. Well done to the cult’s neighbor, a non-Scientologist who owns this property right across the street from LA Org. Hip Hip Horray!

Oh Fred I love your updates! Can you sing “me and my shadow” next time?

      • Fred G. Haseney

You got it, Free Minds, Free Hearts. How about a little ditty tonight?

        “Clams And Their Shadow”:

Like toilet paper sticking to their shoes/ Like clams clinging to the seashore / They’ll never get rid of their shadow / Scientology’ll never get rid of me.

Oh perfect, do you think the security guards will like it too? Please I hope they do!

Most probably the IAS Anniversary celebration where they celebrate how many hears and billions of dollars have been tallied that they have been ripping off the adherents of L. Ron Hubbard’s communicable sociopathy of Scientology.

      • Fred G. Haseney

        Good call, Michael!

      • Mark

Not according to this over in Mike’s Thursday Funnies; the IAS gala is still on for the tent in a field outside Stain Hell. Surely they’re not going to deny us UK SPs the chance to shout rude things at the clams again?! (F5):

        • Michael Leonard Tilse

I just saw Mike’s blog on this. Yea “The Fountain” the “shithole” apartment building across from the Big Blue main building, now being opened as a hotel for out of town wallets coming in to be raped of their life savings in exchange for a temporary woo infusion. They also sometimes dress up for a video feed from the Stain Hell (LOL) mutual cluster rape of bank accounts.

          • Fred G. Haseney

That’s great, Michael: “American Stain Hell Organization”! ASHO!

            • Mark

Pete Griffiths first came up with that one πŸ˜‰

        • And I thought they had given up on that. Oh well, off to East Grinstead again…

The only people one sees in these pics are staff members. The street is empty of any public! And claiming they are all on course or in session at this time is just BS. When I was on service lines there, many moons ago, there were ALWAYS lots of public walking the streets at any time of day. This is very telling to me.

    • romanesco

“Depression, self-doubt or insecurity blocking your full potential? Attend the Hubbard Dianetics Seminar and achieve confidence and self-respect”

…well, I guess we all just found out how that one works.

    • Douglas D. Douglas

WON-derful report! I am attaching two photos here. Disqus will decide in which order they post.

First, your photo of the sidewalk, some plywood and the front of The Fountain. That expanse of plywood will almost certainly be covered with carpet, making the whole of LRH Way a smooth expanse for outdoor dining or activities. Of course, why Big Beings with power over MEST have to rely on plywood and levelers is beyond me…!

The other photo is one I took last May. Scientology properties seem to be designed to be viewed from the front only– they are pretty much an impressive facade, with not much behind them. Architecture as an expression of Scientology itself, so to speak. This photo is a side view of The Fountain, with a neighborhood house in the foreground. I was struck by the cheap way the windows had been replaced. Rather than make an effort to replicate the charming (and historically accurate) arched windows, they simply boxed them in and put in cheap off-the-shelf windows.

Note, too, that each suite is provided with an Ideal Window A/C Unit. Nothing says “Klass-with-a-capital-K” like your own window unit whining away on those hot Summer nights. Again– why the need for A/C? Shouldn’t Big Beings be able to lower the temperature of the room with their awesome, awesome power over MEST?

Sheesh. You’d start to think this whole thing was some kind of scam or something…

E! News got in contact with a spokesperson from the church, who responded to Ortega’s article with the following statement: “Saying that somebody was studying Scientology in the past and connecting that to a suicide is like saying a person who had previously studied the Bible committed suicide. It is sad and reprehensible that a paid anti-Scientologist like Tony Ortega is exploiting this terrible tragedy involving a young woman: it’s a sign of outright bigotry.”

            • L. Wrong Hubturd

              More of what? Everything?

            • daisy

Its not as good a joke if you have to explain it, but yes.

      • Observer

Then they can’t say they were never given a chance to respond.

    • Ruby

Ya know, this is just the WRONG reply that I expected. What any caring church would have done is ignore what Tony said and simply express how sad they are and give condolences to the family and friends. Instead, they…as usual…make it all about them and manage to throw the “bigot” word in there. Totally predictable!

    • Jimmy3

I’m reading this and thinking “Where is it… Where is it… Where is it… Where is it… THERE IT IS! There’s the B word!!!” *takes a shot*

      • Ruby

        exactly!!! All about them!

        • Supper Powers

Gosh, right. They never even said anything about their parishioner and what a lovely gal she was. How sorry they are and how they have her parents in their thoughts during this time.

          • Ruby

            Disgraceful!

          • Jimmy3

“She’s not gonna need the rest of her money now, is she? Terrible tragedy. Just terrible.”

            • L. Wrong Hubturd

I totally wouldn’t put it passed them to pull her credit card records and max them out.

            • Jimmy3

              Yeah. Clerical error. Our bad.

            • L. Wrong Hubturd

              Ecclesiastical clerical error.

            • Mike Ridner has posted begging letters that not only ask for the standard cc info but want the code on the back of the card, which is the keys to the financial kingdom, and a sign that they want it all, eventually.

DANDAR: There are checks written to Gloria Cruz, while Lisa McPherson is in isolation near death. And there are checks written to Lisa McPherson and SIGNED by Lisa McPherson after she’s dead. [shots of the Ft. Harrison, and copies of checks, brief cut to the deposition, more check copies, and a pic or two of Lisa]

WITT: 28 Investigates has learned, that on the day before Lisa died, while she was in the Ft. Harrison Hotel, somehow, a deposit of $1600 was made into Lisa’s account with Lisa’s signature. Lisa died December 5. But on the day after she died, Lisa’s boyfriend, Kurt Paine, wrote a check on Lisa’s account to Gloria Cruz for $2500. After Lisa had been dead 8 days, another deposit was made to her account, again bearing her name. That same day, Gloria Cruz wrote a check to Lisa for $2500, but again, Lisa had been dead for 8 days, and Gloria knew it. Then, 10 days after Lisa’s death, Kurt Paine signed another check to another Scientologist, for more than $2000. [back to the deposition]

VOICE: Do know if Kurt Paine ever wrote any checks out of Lisa McPherson’s checking account?

CRUZ: On the advice of counsel, and relying on my fifth amendment privelege against self-incrimination, I respectfully decline to answer.

I bet Case has been yanked in and is being sec checked or drilled on what to say.

      • 5 Feet Long and Luminous

        Geez…you are probably very–and unfortunately–right.

    • Miss Tia

i’d like them to word clear “in the past” for their statement…..they mean like years ago? or as her instragram timeline showed—-right now?

    • Supper Powers

If the bible had people sitting in a sauna and doing neurotic courses for weeks on end I’d say that there is a point.

Plus the bible doesn’t say psychologists and medicine are evil.

    • Intergalactic Walrus

The CO$/CCHR connects suicide to psychiatry and anti-depressants all the time! They have a whole museum that does it! WFT?

      • Miss Tia

And they claim psychs caused the Holocaust!! That one always just ‘gets’ me because I just, I just CANNOT even fathom how/why/etc it’s believed, spread, etc. SMDH

    • L. Wrong Hubturd

On a serious note, this really pisses me off. I hope word spreads about the warm, caring way the Church has address this matter. “Ethical” rat bastards. Man the footbullet canons!

      • Ruby

I’m right there with you L. I am so upset on this. My personal experience with the cherch’s ugly response to tragedy has been brought front and center again.

        • salin

(((Ruby))) … Don’t let the rat bastards back in to gnaw at you!!!

          • Ruby

(deep breath) You’re right, saline. Thank you. xo

    • salin

So which is it? Paid antiScientologist (mercenary) or bigot (haters gonna hate)? No logical consistency in those characterizations. But logic and ‘reasonableness’ are eschewed by Co$.

Also what does this mean “this terrible tragedy involving a young woman”? There was this tragedy… And a young woman was involved…. Way to show the callous disregard for people that is your ironic hallmark.

      • kemist

And at other times he’s an unemployed blogger on the fringes of the Internet. I wonder how you can both be paid to do something and unemployed.

      • Miss Tia

good point about going after bb’s fortune……i know he left money to his kids and grandkids–who knows how much—but scientology doesnt’ care….they could also then use the name “bb king”…..lucille is crying…..

    • 5 Feet Long and Luminous

Aw, for real? Gah, everybody’s been trying to get their hands on BB’s money. Leave a man’s legacy alone.

Thank you again. This is beautiful

Good Post lush.. awww cute kitteh and doggy..

  • LAreader

I passed by the celeb center today and it was a FLURRY of activity. Lots of film trucks and people blocking the road. Somethings going down there.

    • Supper Powers

They were there to film the collapse of the cult of doom.

    • Douglas D. Douglas

Perhaps they were preparing the robot minions for this weekend’s Monumental Opening of The Fountain parishioner housing.

Welcome to the chatty side of the house. We saved you a good seat. Now, what do you think was up? Hmmm. Cult combusting? Davey combusting?

      • LAreader

I wish I knew. I was driving so I could not take a pic, but there were a veritable TON of lapd cops outside guarding, LOTS of activity, and about 4 -5 large film trucks. Thanks for the welcome!

        • Free Minds, Free Hearts

Is it near the grand opening of the Fountain that Mike Rinder mentioned? Fred Heanesey also had some pics about LA action but I don’t know if it is the same area, I have never been there..

          • LAreader

I don’t think so. The celeb center is on Franklin not near the fountain gig. Incidentally, I used to work in the bookstore right across the street from the celebrity center. We kept large amounts of dictionaries just for the Sci’s. They would march step in, wearing their ludicrous uniforms and buy us out. It was also hysterical to watch the place empty twice a day so they could get their exercise by walking around the walk.

            • Free Minds, Free Hearts

Thanks LAreader. Funny about the bookstore!

    • Ella Raitch

      Welcome welcome…..

Come on now, Yoda on crack would be far more insightful than that paranoid dribble.

More insightful, Yoda on crack would be. Paranoid that drivel is.

    • Miss Tia

volcanic as in the dianetics volcano? can someone take away her twitter please?!

      • Jimmy3

No. She’s a giant ball of crazy entertainment.

        • Miss Tia

yeah….but no…..but yeah…..but no…..insert vicky pollard gif (have no clue how to do gifs)…..

she can be entertaining but sometimes ARGH!!

    • daisy

Another variation on confess your sins. She is making my position on pre-frontal lobotomies, less clear.

    • PerpetualOutflow

So sad. She thinks if she goes in to her nearest clam center and spills her guts about anything she thinks she’s guilty of she will somehow make the planet a better place and advance her spiritual disposition. Meanwhile, they tape her confession and conspire to screw her the minute she decides she doesn’t want any more of the extortionist clampire. Wake up Kirstie. It’s long past time.

    • David E Love

Tell that to the Narconon Death victims, Kirstie…. Their loved ones have a right to to “odd things” and be “volcanic” ….. Hows yer’ FRAUD Weight loss scam Lawsuit going? FESS UP, Krustie …

      • Supper Powers

O/T but I noticed there is a lawsuit against Narconon and a US based naturopathy quack named German Zermeno. Just FYI he made an appearance on the Bravo Network this week. He was hawking his quackery to a patient with Leukemia. Want you to be aware a Narconon ally is receiving positive reinforcement from Bravo.

        • Ex-Christian Scientist

Just FYI: No one believes that patient on “Real Housewives of the OC” has Leukemia…

          • Ex-Christian Scientist

But very interesting about the lawsuit!

          • Supper Powers

Which makes that patient suspect in my mind, too.

            • Ex-Christian Scientist

Yeah, it’s very interesting that one con is visiting another con… Oy!

            • Supper Powers

I don’t know the whole story. My friend said the patient is a con job. She said that she looked up the dr and he is connected to narconon and that the patient being treated is a known liar. This sounds like a set up to me. I spend A LOT of time here….

            • Ex-Christian Scientist

It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out! πŸ™‚ (Didn’t realize while watching the show that the doctor was affiliated w/ Narconon, but it makes sense…)

  • David E Love

Wake up America, and especially the IRS :::> Scientology is using their IRS tax exemtion to hire private detectives to follow and harass critics and media, using charitable donations that should be used to better mankind for the “Public Benefit” … But NO, they Reg Whales to to hire Lawyers who hire PIs … who then hire other PIs to do their dirty tricks work. David E. Love is pissed off at Mr. micromanager, Misvavige today, and these deaths, suicides, and drug rehab quackery must stop. Ya, I know, just a bunch of words…. But I care and so do countless others who are separated from their families, family members who lost their children (DEAD) inside Narconon, and others who are mind-bent from Scientology Objectives and other Scientology processes. My very first musical hero. Thanks for sharing that, Baby! I was one of the crazies standing in front of the Dakota every night during the week of his death. Talk about somber πŸ™

        • Baby

Jazz no kidding..I remember it well.. Very, Very somber.. tragic. He was my favorite Beatle.

On one of the nights, one guy leaned his face towards mine (I thought he was gonna kiss me) and actually said “Remember Number 9” with a straight face. My friends and I lost it. There were a lot of nutcases there πŸ™‚

Oh Baby I am sorry, I didn’t know you had a twin. How utterly sad. Life sucks, sometimes but I am glad you had a good day today. I am glad you have a good partner in your life and of course those puppies.

            • Baby

Thank you Daisy.. She died 10 years ago.. of a Brain Tumor.. It is sad…

I do have a great simple life to day filled with love, but living it with half a heartbeat.

Amen.. Thanks Jazz.. I made greeting cards out of this one and they turned out darling.

        • EmmaDaoust

aw, really? I remember waking up that dark morning to the sombre voice on my clock radio announcing the painful news. It was such a heartbreak.

          • jazzlover

I was watching Monday Night Football as Howard Cosell announced it live on the air. After I got over the fact that it had to be him telling me the news of my hero’s passing, I was in shock. For a minute, I considered going over to the Dakota late that night, but thought better of it.

            • EmmaDaoust

A woman commits suicide and all you can do is talk about musical heroes.
I went over other posts and you have some type of anger against women. This is a blogging site to discuss Scientology and you prefer to discuss your musical tastes and your very unfunny jokes.

I will never understand your type and you seem to get some type of joy from the suffering of others.

Get a life my friend and find some friends. Develop some respect for women.

Argh! I wish he had not blocked me or I’d tell him that no, dealing with assholes like him saying my disease doesn’t exist is the hardest part of dealing with depression. Or something along those lines. F U Jim.

I’ll never forgive Mrs. C for spawning this mess. Where’s Chuck!

        • aquaclara

I was just thinking that what the hell us wrong with him, too. It isn’t his mother’s fault, is it? She wasn’t in?

          • Frodis73

AFAIK, she’s not in (never has been). I don’t really know how he got sucked in either.

        • Frodis73

I’d love to know what she thinks about scientology and his involvement. Hope her finances are air tight because we all know he will do what he can do get as much as he can from her when she passes away.

    • He must be a doctor and a scientist.

    • Ruby

What about the “science of mental health” she was studying?
ETA…ok, I don’t know if he is talking about Cat or not. I’m just on my own thing right now. …
      nevermind…

      • Miss Tia

The tweet is from August 7th, if that helps (it doesn’t really, but at least it wasn’t about Cat?)

        • Intergalactic Walrus

No, this tweet it wasn’t about Cat. But he spews this CCHR crap often. This one just stuck in my mind as being particularly specious and typical of CO$-think. He tried pimping Robin Williams death last year for Narconon/CCHR, remember that? Ugh! He’s a real piece of LRH.

          • Miss Tia

yeah, i remember those tweets after Williams death……i know i went on a twitter spree during that too…..juliette lewis got on a CCHR band wagon one time too…..went on a spree to her too….that was before there was the ‘mass twitter block’ that a lot of us experienced one evening—even with some scienos we’d never tweeted!!

making statements like that about mental illnesses, etc REALLY irks my ire!!! i have PTSD and i’m on a low dose of valium and benefited from therapy and learned what i can/can’t do…..NO ONE should feel ashamed for saying they have a mental illness nor receiving REAL counseling and taking medication for anxiety, depression, any mental illness….there is ZERO shame in that……i also had a couple bouts of depression that descended with no environmental cause and had they not lifted on their own, i would have had no problem going to my psychiatrist asking for assistance to get out of it……

individuals like him and his ilk who promote that dangerous crap make people feel SHAME for their mental illness, make them feel SHAME for getting psychiatric help and they are preying upon some of the most vulnerable people out there in precarious states of mind……they need to be full out exposed for this and what they promote, the deaths they ARE responsible for—Ellie Perkins, her son murdered her as she denied him medication he needed and i could list many others—they need to be held ACCOUNTABLE…..this goes beyond their ‘freedom of speech’ and ‘religion’ they are endangering people’s lives!!! /end rant

            • Frodis73

Preach it sister! Hugs to you too.

            • Miss Tia

              Hugs right back to ya!!

            • Miss Tia

            • Rhea

Please consider my upvote a long-distance hug.

One of the reason I keep Scientology-watching, as a never-in from a country where the chult does not have a presence, is because of their shocking treatment of people with mental difficulties. I am recovering from depression and still on medication. Had it not been for Prozac and cognitive therapy, I would not be here to write this. These vermin bandwagoning on somebody’s suicide to promote their quackery… How low can people get?

            • Miss Tia

Thanks Rhea! I’m glad to hear you’re recovering from depression! There is no bottom to the depths they can sink unfortunately. I gotta run some errands this morning but when I get back I’m gonna go thru my haiku notebooks for some of the ones I did re: mental illness and retweet ’em.

        • Ruby

          It does help. Thank you!

        • daisy

I already used that drug in Kirstie*s insult, I don’t like to repeat myself. On the other hand, go with what works.

          • Kay

LOL…I must have missed your Kirstie insult….then again I just logged back on again, haven’t been here in a few hours…

          • Kay

Oops…found it now downthread. Yes, she could benefit from Haldol, but her body weight is such that I think we should increase the dosage quite a bit to get her to a therapeutic level. hahahahahahahahahaaahaha

            • daisy

Who the hell cares if its therapeutic, as long as she shuts that red smear she calls a mouth shut. Usually I enjoy her, but today its just offensive.

    • just added to my blog

  • Ruby

    OK…I took a breather.
The response from the cherch about Cathriona’s suicide was so …expected…based on my personal experience of how they deal with tragedy.
So, while I once again had to replay the insensitive and one sided dealings of the cherch in my mind…I was also able to remind myself that it was that experience that opened the door to my being here. In that way, it was a good thing after all.
I only hope that people seeing the cherch’s response to the horrible loss of Cathriona will open more eyes to the true nature of the cherch.

    • aquaclara

You said it, Ruby. Let’s hope.

  • Sibs

Ugggggh. Captain Obvious here, but the reason people talk about if someone was a $cientologist and they killed themselves is because $cientology believes that psychiatrists are in a conspiracy to control everyone’s minds and rule the universe, which would keep someone suicidal from seeking the help they need. DUH.

  • Stay extra alert everyone. Report/record any oddities. These are the times.

    • salin

Should we be expecting some incoming madness?

      • Robert Eckert

Probably. I screen-grab posts that seem questionable in case the troll edits, click the names I don’t recognize to check profiles. But the trolls we’ve gotten lately have been pretty lame with little confront.

        • salin

The few I have seen – I have only seen the trace (self delete). Seems like the span from post to delete has gotten really short. Like maybe these aren’t the paid pros… but scared scienos (individual) confronting and then, instead of shatter, running away before entheta might reach them.

          • L. Wrong Hubturd

Some trolls are just that. Not OSA, not scios, just stupid trolls out looking to get a rise out of people.

            • salin

True. But I would think their appearances would be random – just because they feel like trolling – not timed to specific events/news cycles. More likely that the newcycles ones have a purpose.

            • L. Wrong Hubturd

              Good line of reasoning.

            • Baby

But we are still way ahead of them with the truth.

          • Robert Eckert

There’s nothing “individual” about those: it is OSA trying out different tactics. Occasionally we get indie scientologists who still want to defend Hubbard and sometimes have their own mental oddities, but we know them and they are not the same as OSA trolls; and a couple times we have gotten garden-variety trolls who don’t really know Scientology but try to play the game to wind people up, but those are rare.

            • Baby

Yeah.. more indies than usual lately..

          • salin

UCMD: Er… Oh, exercise is always good.

Fake J3: Cast no stones… Cast out BTs instead!

UCMD: Is English your second language?

But a Scientology rep told us: β€œSaying that somebody was studying Scientology in the past and connecting that to a suicide is like saying a person who had previously studied the Bible committed suicide. It is sad and reprehensible that a paid anti-Scientologist like Tony Ortega is exploiting this terrible tragedy involving a young woman: It’s a sign of outright bigotry.”

Notice how the rep does not even once express any sadness over her death.

      • PantalonesDeLaJusticia

One day (hopefully) the ‘reps’ that put out these sorts of statements will come to the realization of just how awful they were being to issue such things.

Also, curious about the ‘paid anti-scientologist’ part – like Tony is getting rich or exploiting anyone, but that’s the plank in their eye that they’re ignoring while trying to claim he’s got a splinter.

        • jazzlover

Exactly. The faux outrage in the sentence “it’s a sign of outright bigotry” is especially sad. But it’s meant to deflect from the real issue, because they have no way of explaining away the real issue.

          • salin

            Their favorite deflection.

          • PantalonesDeLaJusticia

The only way they know is “ok” as far as how to respond and act in a co$-approved manner keeps them from seriously thinking about what they’re doing and supporting – it’s going to be a rough road for anyone that decides to make for the exit but they should know that there are people who have taken the exit who can listen and help.

    • romanesco

It was all “in the past….”

      • Free Minds, Free Hearts

Well, I suppose two days ago is the past, doncha know…

    • salin

IOW, it’s criminal to blame us for anything, ever.

      • PantalonesDeLaJusticia

If the Catholic church scandal involving priests shows us anything in regards to what happens when church and criminal activity collide, the co$ should just start closing up shop and cross their fingers. Not like they will but waiting for the government to take them on and bring them down shouldn’t have to take so long!

They could at least shut down the Narcanon hell-with-vitamins that are harming people to get money from insurance/family.

    • Free Minds, Free Hearts

O/T back when many of us were shocked to learn what Jimmy3 looks like, I struggled to explain the person I had envisioned in my head. Tonight, he showed up in People Magazine looking a wee leaner and younger than I thought, but definitely with the right fashion sense.

            • Free Minds, Free Hearts

I actually assumed he was about 50-55

            • Kay

          • beauty for ashes

            You did? Weird!

      • Robert Eckert

I had guessed his age sometime before at 23, an underestimate of his actual-choronological age but an overestimate of his visual-appearance age. He looked about like I thought except that those puppy-dog eyes were startlingly cute.

        • Kay

Awwwww. Nope he’s too smart and wise to be 23.

        • Kay

Actually I don’t know his age, other than being born in during the Reagan Administration, as he said later.

          • Jimmy3

            28. A couple people thought it was really funny that everyone thought I was much older, given how often I talk about Pokemon and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. But I guess that’s mostly off the Bunker.

      • beauty for ashes

I was really rooting for an epic beard. f5 but I still think this is what the REAL Jimmy 3 looks like.
I think y’all was fooled by some Smersh/ Cyrano scheme.

I have to ask my babysitter permission before clicking links on the computer.
She’s passed out on the couch.

      • Kay

You lie…..she’s just one of your many Christian Mingle dates…

        • Sibs

Heeheehee, I was babysitting when I met my boyfriend, and one of the pick-up lines he tried was, “I need a babysitter, are you free this weekend?”
          “Really? Do you have kids?”
“No, I just need a babysitter.”

          • Kay

            That’s funny…

          • Jimmy3

And we lived happily ever after until bedtime

    • PantalonesDeLaJusticia

Ok this picture with ‘mr. creepy’ – the “hey girl” guy in the background isn’t bad in comparison to “lookit-my-head”-creeptastic up front.

      • Kay

        Ditto

        • PantalonesDeLaJusticia

Does he give you that “I’d rather throw myself in this here river with all the piranhas and a few cuts to get the blood in the water than be in a room with this guy” feeling too?

          • Kay

YES !!!!! AND it seems that he is always with kids…..that ups the creepy factor.

            • PantalonesDeLaJusticia

He’s a PSA waiting to happen. A PSA like…”hide your kids, hide your bank account info, hide yourself too! Just to be safe!”

            • PantalonesDeLaJusticia

I’d hope that John Walsh wouldn’t want to have mr.creepy(tm) around, his face is more along the lines of ‘one for radio’.

    • Robert Eckert

I’d be more worried about Carrey. In the course of breaking up I am sure there were some things said, that now he is replaying guiltily in his mind over and over.

      • daisy

I went back to yesterdays posts tonight to read. Someone had insinuated it was his fault. I wasn’t sure if it was a troll. I said there was no evidence of that. I thought maybe a deflection of COS blame. It really upset me. Guilt to go around, for everybody but those criminals

      • Jimmy3

Someone said she was acting erratically and had recently installed security cameras. I forget where that info came from, but it’s alarming if true.

        • daisy

Maybe he had reason to be paranoid. Anything at all to do with the COS is suspicious, maybe he was aware of its reputation. Hell I have never met a scientologist in my life and I am thinking of installing camera*s

          • Jimmy3

I was talking about the deceased, not Jim Carrey. I’m sure he’s always had security cameras. Every celebrity with a home in in LA does. When people sell maps to your house, you should have security.

            • daisy

Agreed, but I’m sure the Co$ will pull the “you pulled it in angle” to make him feel guilty. If he was her twin AND auditor on objectives, I highly doubt the thought won’t cross his mind. I just hope he doesn’t think he ran a process incorrectly. That’s my concern…

Oh God, how depressing. Oklahoma’s new law must be quite toothless indeed. Wasn’t it supposedly passed to tighten up standards in response to the Arrowhead Narconon deaths?

PRweb has a post from the cult. “CANADIAN, OK (PRWEB) OCTOBER 01, 2015

Narconon Arrowhead, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility in Canadian, Oklahoma, is very pleased to announce its recent certification by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS). This rigorous certification process includes detailed inspections into organizational, operational and clinical standards in place at the facility.

The ODMHSAS inspects and certifies more than 140 substance abuse recovery facilities in the State of Oklahoma. Their mission is to ensure not only the safety and trustworthiness of each center, but also to ensure the soundness and excellence of their clinical procedures.

β€œThis certification is evidence of our commitment to excellent care for every person who trusts us with their progression to sobriety,” said Bobby Newman, Director for Public Relations at Narconon Arrowhead. β€œWe have maintained our Certification for Non-Medical Detox with ODMHSAS certification since 2005 and this new certification adds vocational services and community re-integration activities to the Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program.”

Treatment plans, progress reports, staff certifications, fire and safety, zoning compliance and facility policies and procedures are all embraced by ODMHSAS inspections. There are several hundred criteria reviewed during each substance abuse service inspection. The ODMHSAS certification issued this week defined as β€œClinically Managed Low- Intensity Residential Treatment”

Narconon of Oklahoma Inc. (DBA) Narconon Arrowhead has serviced over 11,000 people over the last 25 years and is the largest of some fifty Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities operating on six continents. The Narconon network has a fifty-year history of helping the addicted recover lasting sobriety. For more information, call 1-800-468-6933.”

EDIT TO ADD. This is depressing. I am going to bed. Night all, sweet dreams.

    • Kay

“Non-Medical Detox???” There IS no such thing. aaarrrggghhh

      • PantalonesDeLaJusticia

      • daisy

They would be better off at home. Better seizures than DM.

        • Kay

True. Geez they must have paid these people off….or it’s a bogus certification group. I cannot imagine, it’s like they’ve lost their damned minds.

          • PantalonesDeLaJusticia

It’s not too hard to put a show on with a few individuals who are ok with saying what they’re supposed to say *stick to the script and as far as the rest of it – wouldn’t be impossible to fake when they know what day to expect the state people to come in and look around.

            ETA *

            • Kay

That’s true. But wow they would have to dummy up a lot of documents and certifications beforehand, including policies and procedures on medical stuff like transmission of tuberculosis, hepatitis, emergency procedures, etc. etc. Even low-level residential treatment has to have those policies and some legitimate medical oversight somewhere. Where are the “clinicians” that are going to administer β€œClinically Managed Low- Intensity Residential Treatment” They don’t even have licensed therapists….it boggles the mind, truly. I’m appalled. sigh

            • PantalonesDeLaJusticia

It may require some extra people to be brought in so they can falsify the needed paperwork, but it could be done by a group who is anxious to maintain credibility and continue receiving insurance funding etc…now, all of his is purely speculation on my part. With everything they’ve spent all these years doing why would they quit their efforts now??

California has an ongoing issue with the sober living homes that pop up, there are some cities trying to block new ones from opening up due to problems with the organizations operating them and their ignoring rules already on the books (law). Some barely skirt the regulations but then they aren’t claiming to be a rehab, only homes where sobriety is required – the state knows that there are a lot of people just out of jail and/or prison whose only option for a roof over their head is a sober living home. But there are a couple of truly bad organizations in the bunch ruining it for the legit ones.

OT does anyone know if this guy did Scientology services ?
The man who shot four people 19 years ago at Portland’s downtown Scientology center earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Oregon last spring, worked in the campus cafeteria part time while a student and now lives in a group home in Springfield.

Jairus Chegero Godeka appeared Wednesday before the state’s Psychiatric Security Review Board, arguing that he poses no danger to the community and should no longer be under the board’s control.

He asked to return to his native Kenya and offered to give up his right to come back to the United States. He even asked to be placed on the no-fly list to prevent it. He promised to find a reputable psychiatrist in his home country to continue with treatment.
    http://interceder.net/latest_news/Jairus-Chegero-Godeka

    • The problem is, the main source of information about Jairus Godeka’s services would be Scientology itself and their records would have been shredded and pulped faster than you could say “Charles Manson”. Possibly there would have been traces in Godeka’s records and financial information, but would investigators know what to look for and have a reason to keep looking?

      Category:Jairus Godeka

      • Godeka’s odd actions trace back to 1987 October 4, 1996, Phil Manzano, The Oregonian

In February, Godeka pleaded no contest to attempted coercion in connection with the calls to the church’s Portland branch.

“He could give me no specifics of what we had actually done to him and what his business was,” Burke told Portland police in February. “He said he had lost everything that was dear to him.”

At one point, Godeka told Burke that his anger stemmed from something that had happened at the San Francisco branch, but that the Church of Scientology is all “the same thing.”

She said Godeka first came to the Portland office five or six years ago and took a free personality test and bought some books. She thinks he might also have signed up for a home study course.

At least one earlier police report involved extortion attempts against the church, but details were not available Wednesday.

That selfie of Travis Case and Cathriona White was taken in the Library; the marble you see is the mantle of one of the many fantastic fireplaces at CC. This thread has me thinking of my days in the sauna. I went through the Purif somewhat illegally since I didn’t have a twin. I didn’t know the rules at the time so I didn’t think much about it. Now I wonder how they jostled the records. After the Purif, the next step was TRs & Objectives. TR’s at that level weren’t bad. One of my eyes is near sighted and one is far sighted so one eye is dominant at any given time. I found that in staring at my twin I could play games with my eyes and have her disappear altogether, seeing only the background. This was solely the product of playing with messed up bipolar vision, not any “new found ability.” But it made the time pass. The CC&H’s were another story. I found then grueling. I approached each Objective with an “OK, let’s see what this is” attitude, but as each went inexorably on for what seemed like forever, I felt I couldn’t stand doing it one more time. I felt like screaming and one day on the CCH’s, I did just that. I felt like I had to do something with my frustration and anger, make this stop, and maybe shake things up a bit. You can’t just “blow” because your twin will get in trouble and have to go through an ethics cycle. It’s your twin’s responsibility to get you through the processes and if you flunk it’s their fault. By this time you’ve spent 8 to 12 hours a day with your twin for weeks on end and have grown to either love or hate him/her. My Objectives twin and I had a really good relationship and I didn’t want to screw her up. After screaming for a few minutes, the course sup put me on the cans ( i.e., the emeter) and asked if I felt overrun. I told him not only did I feel overrun, I felt run over, squashed, trampled by a herd of elephants, etc., etc. , and ready to explode. The next day I was graduated to the next Objective. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if I didn’t have my little tantrum. Incidentally, my twin is also out and we keep in touch. Seems she had been telling the sup for many days that I was “done” but he wasn’t listening. It keeps up the stats (Bodies in the Shop) to keep a PC on course for as long as possible. In a Co-Audit situation, it doesn’t take that much of a supervisor’s time. I’ve also taken courses, especially book courses, that I completed in just hours when they needed course completions and even completed one on the phone when I was home sick. It was amazing how quickly people who had return reservations would complete courses just in time. I don’t post much – maybe because I’m reading far more interesting anecdotes from others – but also because I don’t want to be identified by something I might say.
