Fellow Scientology Watchers, we’re really looking forward to your thoughts about today’s document leak.
We want to thank the tipster who forwarded this item. It’s a script for introducing the latest rah-rah videos that Scientology leader David Miscavige is having sent around to local “orgs” in the hopes that church members already exhausted with years of high-pressure fundraising can be amped up to give just a little more.
It’s part of a trend we’ve noticed in recent months. Miscavige doesn’t seem to trust his own people to deliver Scientology’s message, whether it’s statements to the press, or introductory videos for the public, or fundraising stemwinders for the membership.
For a decade now he’s been opening up a series of new buildings called “Ideal Orgs” that are intended to replace already existing church buildings. The new orgs tend to be bigger and more lavish, but part of the reason for their existence is a highly automated experience for “new meat” that happens to walk in the door. If Scientology used to rely on human beings to deliver its message, today these new orgs are supposed to rely on flashy videos in a museum-like setting.
Those new buildings cost a lot of money to purchase and renovate, but despite evidence that the relentless appeals for donations is pushing away many longtime members, Miscavige is plunging forward with even more pressure to give, give, give.
And that brings us to today’s leak. We had heard previously that church members in local orgs are being asked to come down and view some new videos about the push for Ideal Orgs. We now have the script that an emcee is supposed to read (verbatim!) in order to set up the two videos, and then turn things over to the local fundraiser. It contains interesting news about how Scientology is about to go through its biggest expansion in history, and fundamental changes to the way L. Ron Hubbard’s “Bridge to Total Freedom” is delivered.
