ALSO: TMZ has posted a portion of the audiotaped interview of private investigators Dwayne Powell and his son Daniel with the West Allis, Wisc. police. In this portion, Daniel says that they joke about their $10,000 a week salary being funded by Tom Cruise. And that when his latest movie bombed (in 2013? Oblivion?) they joked that they needed to tell people how great it was so they’d go see it so Tom could get paid and then the PIs could get paid…

THANKS EVERYBODY! Don’t have cable here and really appreciate your descriptions, moment to moment. Tony, sounds like you packed your brief allotment of time with insightful commentary and looked good while doing it (with any jacket migration problems not noticeable to Bunkerite viewers).

  • WildaBeast

How long do ya’ll figure until the segment hits Youtube? Not only did I miss it by MINUTES, but I don’t have cable and God only knows if MSNBC livestreams all the things. I somehow doubt it…

  • scottmercer

Tony, fantastic appearance. As usual way too short, but you killed it.

I’m liberal but I don’t watch O’Donnell much. He’s smart but he has a tendency to conveniently overlook/omit some things. I prefer the style of our proprietor. Tony calls bullshit even when he might prefer it be otherwise.

    • TheHoleDoesNotExist

Someday – Tony should have his own show. We all know that. You never know – it Could happen.

Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Tony Ortega, in The Ortega Report.

        • Donna Cline Sargent

          I love it.The Ortega Report.I would watch.

          • Sherbet

            We’re watching it already.

            • Donna Cline Sargent

              true

            • MaxSpaceman

Especially if you take into account his Raw Story editorial work.

            • Sherbet

              He’s amazing. Really.

          • Tory Christman

            The Ortega Watch…another possibility.
Whatever u name it, Tony—you’ve got many peeps
            already who will be watching!

      • Jenstnick

Maybe when the government seizes KCET, he can buy it at auction for super cheap.

        • TheHoleDoesNotExist

          I love that dream.

    • Jimmy Threetimes

Lawrence O’Donnell was the only one calling bullshit when that phony IRS scandal hit. Even the White House was apologizing, but he was saying, NO, you should be looking at this shit. It WAS justified. He was the only one making sense. He’s the guy you want on your side.

      • Jimmy Threetimes

Now that I think of it, he’s a good person to write to about Scientology and the IRS.

      • rom661

Hey Jimmy. I can’t argue with you. I don’t know anything about it. I’m left of center but I don’t like what’s happened to journalism in general. I saw O’Donnell on several occasions report selectively. I knew the whole background from news feeds. He skewed it by omitting “the rest of the story”, so to speak. I don’t question what you’re saying but I know what I witnessed. I lost respect for him. I know the far right does it but it doesn’t make it right. So to speak. OK, that was bad. Time for bed.

    • Snake Plissken

I like Lawrence O’Donnell, but I’d rather have a stick in my eye than to listen to speculation about an election that is almost two years away.

      • rom661

I get a needle in my eye every six weeks. Hmmm. Yeah, I’ll take the needle. I don’t dislike O’Donnell. Actually like him. Just not the “new” journalism.

  • Shelly Britt Corrias

That was worth waiting for. Nailed every question. Great job.

It’s baffling how Scientology flat out denies everything in the face of police reports and clear evidence. O’Donnell said something like “the whole premise was preposterous” was a church response. I know they are not intelligent, I had enough first-hand experience with that. But with all the evidence stacked they deny. It’s beyond comprehension, even for them.

    • Sherbet

My parish priest let the word “damn” slip out once during a sermon, and it was shocking in context. This ethical church of scientology issues a statement with an expletive in it (probably bull****). What’s wrong with this picture?

    • PickAnotherID

El Rum locked them into the “Always attack, never defend” mode with no way out. It’s all they can do.

  • Gerard Plourde

Great job, Tony. I wish Lawrence had spent a bit more time on the story but a year ago it probably wouldn’t have gotten air time at all.

  • https://www.pinterest.com/natlificent/ Nat-leficent!

So what [expletive] did DM force whoever wrote that press statement to use?

    • Hamtaro

          LOL!

      • MoX, Mother of Xenu

Karin would never use such language! She’s as pure as the driven snow with communication skills that are unmatched by any wog. It must have been a word the reportee didn’t clear properly and assumed was an expletive,

I demand to see the original document!

        • WildaBeast

I BEG to see the original document! I missed this [expletive] and my heart is breaking – I need more schadenfreude!

He’s really losing it now. I noticed that too and thought that it was a sure sign that he was so mad/stressed/overcome with unbeatable circumstances that he let it slip out and made it an official statement. Good! It means this all is really getting to him. That means even more mistakes as time goes on.

  • TheHoleDoesNotExist

Favorite moment: O’Donnell, after the Let Him Die story, Clips of Going Clear, and Tony Ortega cluing him on the scientology story, sits there stunned, for just a moment, one silent moment, and what seemed unscripted blurts out, “But what could Ron say that is any worse than what we’re already hearing?” or words to that effect.

And that is how the world, or those in it that have been tuning in since March 29, are feeling and thinking as well – stunned. They are about to enter the twilight zone of “It’s Always Worse Than You Think”.

We all thought we were immune to that shock. And yet, here it is again. I could almost hear all the jaws dropping around midnight last night. The rabbit hole is a black hole. Shhhhh

    • cdub

“But what could Ron say that is any worse that what we’re already hearing?” implies this story will end soon. It won’t. The national media will be filling their precious space with lurid details, back stabbing, money, sex, celebrities, homophobia, abuse, imprisonment, stalking, and so on, with this story for years. It’s every media outlet’s dream story.

      • WildaBeast

Not only is it a dream story, but the media have been wanting to cover it for years, and they’ve been bullied and threatened and stomped on and forced to pull the plug time and time and time again. And now the truth is out: the Emperor has no clothes, Scientology is defenseless against the sheer quantity of coverage. They can’t stop the coverage any more. Human nature is vindictive, and those who have been bullied for years (I assure you) fantasize about having the bully at their mercy – and their fantasies are unkind. The media, and Hollywood, are getting to live out their collective fantasy of vengeance right now.
And we…we have caek and popcorn.

        • cdub

          that’s what I think too

        • ThePanopticon

Yup, and there really is safety in numbers. All the media are feeding off stories other media reports and adding a little to it and so on. So it makes it impossible for Scientology to sue anyone now. Thanks HBO for getting the ball rolling in this (hopefully) final chapter of the story.

          • Tory Christman

ThePanopticon I totally agree as far as safety in numbers! I think Tony is 100% correct: Hollywood has taken their abuses as far as threats of suits for SO long, it’s now time and they are ready to step up to the plate and GO FOR IT, thankfully :)

        • MaxSpaceman

Sure hope ABC finally gets some cojones. And gives with their footage.

And “Missed withholds” for everyone the day after…

  • Science Doc

    Very crisp and interesting interview.

  • Panopea Abrupta

Tony is now established as the authority on $cientology, the journalistic equivalent of 24 carat gold.
His commitment over 2 decades of reporting is coming up trumps, especially since Going Clear aired .
Wait until “The Unbreakable Miss Lovely” hits.
This is THE story that has it all – concentration camp escapees, orphans in a new continent,
a brilliant and beautiful protagonist, guts, treachery, bomb-threats, lawsuits and gaming of the legal system,
Paulette’s incredible determination and courage, Hubbard’s evil machinations,….
On O Donnell’s show, we had another demonstration of your command of all the gory details.
The sound-bytes that t.v. requires, you provided.
When there is so little time, you HAVE to speak in simple easily digested key phrases.
You NAILED it, absolutely nailed it.

          Here you go :)

    • WildaBeast

I cannot agree more. My wife is sitting next to me agreeing with me as I type. And Tony deserves it all. I hope The Unbreakable Miss Lovely hits bestseller lists and Tony promptly sells the rights and makes a freaking MINT. He’s been through hell and back to become what he is – the number one journalistic authority on Scientology today, probably the most knowledgeable never-in out there. I’m glad to see it paying off for him and for every ex and protester who’s put their nuts on the line for decades now.
And hell, now I’m sitting here with the wife and we both feel like old-timers because we were lurking back in the last VV days. I’m sure all the a.r.s. veterans are laughing themselves silly at us, but hey…it’s been a hell of a ride so far, and we’re both grateful we’ve had Tony’s writing to take us on the journey. We’ve both learned a lot, and more importantly, spread that knowledge to others as we’ve picked it up. Just the ripple effect of what Tony has accomplished on this blog alone is huge. With Going Clear and now perfectly-packaged sound bytes…the effect only grows from here.

(My wife wishes me to specifically convey her gratitude for Tony’s arguments about why he doesn’t bother to argue with people who say that Scientology is just as bad as any other religion, and the one about why having the cult-or-not-cult argument is equally pointless in the end. She says his points have helped her get past so many pointless and reductive arguments, and she’s grateful as hell for the framework to work from.)

And then from both of us: thank you to the entire Bunker. For telling your stories. Because both of us are never-ins, and thus allies, and thus our prime role is to STFU and LISTEN when the grown folks is talkin’ – and we’ve learned so much from everyone here having the courage to share their stories and the open-hearted empathic kindness to welcome so many more into the fold, either from Scientology or from the wog world. Excuse me, I gotta go screw in my Inspector Gadget arms so I can reach to hug all of you…

      • http://www.tingleff.org/jensting/muslinger/ Jens TINGLEFF

No, thank YOU!, from this a.r.s. veteran :-)

  • Snake Plissken

Could you image if Miscavige showed up to an interview Tony was giving to dispute what Tony was saying?

If would be like watching a baby seal being clubbed

    • https://www.pinterest.com/natlificent/ Nat-leficent!
    • Gerard Plourde

Miscavige would never appear for an interview willingly. He’s still recovering from the 1992 “Nightline” interview with Ted Koppel.

      • Suzy

Heck, I’m still recovering from watching that interview….cringe

        • Gerard Plourde

I can’t get through the whole thing. He’s so obviously in over his head. It shows why he can’t undergo a deposition.

    • seriouslyWTF

I keep hoping that Jason Behge will run into Tom Cruise somewhere..

      • aquaclara

Or Headley. Or Tori. Or DeVocht. Or Tony. Or Karen.

        • Jenstnick

But Beghe would probably punch him and that would be awesome.

          • TheHoleDoesNotExist

Or spank him – Tom Cruise needs a good spanking – he obviously missed that in his childhood.

            • aquaclara

              Ugh no.

          • noseinabk

No way. Headley or Beghe would know how to handle Tom face to face without acting like Dave.

            • Jenstnick

Headley would heckle him for sure, Beghe is a firecracker so he may not take the first punch but he’d certainly land the last punch.

          • aquaclara

Yes. Yes it would be so incredibly awesome. Karen would bop him, Tori would convince him to leave, or at least increase the wages of the Sea Org members, Tony would want the real answer to the big question: WTF? And immediately put a story out that would be picked up around the world. DeVocht, looking as handsome as ever, would stick him in a car and they’d go off to find Shelly. Oh, and if David Love were there, he’d tilt back his cowboy hat, peer down at the little F***cker, and pull out both his cameras and a bunch of court papers for him to sign where he admitting to all the hell he caused in NN and turned over all the money to the victims.

That’s how I see it, anyway.

            • Jenstnick

You’ve been dreaming about this, haven’t you?

            • aquaclara

              Since 1976.

            • Tory Christman

              Good one, aquaclara :)

            • aquaclara

Ha ha, we’ve gotta have a little fun with this. I am getting phone calls about all the news, and it’s great. Your phone is probably ringing off the hook.

If you ran into Tom Cruise right now, say outside The Celeb Centre, what do you think you’d say?

Now, I think he’s holed up at Flag and can’t say anything, but let’s dream.

Well if this don’t beat all. Scientology: Too Nuts for Pat Robertson… (Letter about Scientology starts at 0:50) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ak5jFqTltJc

    • Sherbet

Smartest thing Robertson ever said. He looks older than Xenu btw.

      • MoX, Mother of Xenu

Pat always makes me think he should live in a tree making cookies.

And yes, he does … particularly around the eyes.

        • Sherbet

I picture him on some remote island with his Bible and a fake microphone, and he can pretend he still has a TV show.

          • Tory Christman

            • Sherbet

              My pleasure, Ms. Tory.

Wow. Pat Robertson nailed it! He must be reading Tony. Is he referring to “Going Clear”?

“It’s a spooky system” – funny way to put it, but so true! Spooky, creepy and downright evil!

    • Zer0

I guess an enemy of your enemy is a friend? He said it well.

    • TheHoleDoesNotExist

Too crazy for Manson, to nutty for Robertson.

    • Sir Hemet TC Burlwood, VIII

Amazing to hear that bit of accurate rationality between such statements as “Some body brought [me] a message in tongues, and I brought the interpretation…I was moving in prophecy…”
and “Jesus said to Peter, Satan is designed to sift you like wheat.”

  • ObsessedReader

Did anyone else notice MSNBC kept saying that *they* were conducting an investigation? (or something along those lines). Umm, I think you were just sharing someone else’s hard work! But I like MSNBC and will give them the benefit of the doubt – I hope they *are* “investigating* and will have Tony on again. Better yet, give him an hour-long show!

    • scottmercer

I believe he said was an “NBC investigation.”

      Yes, I noticed that too!
Edit: They investigated as much as we did today.

      • ObsessedReader

They spent 8 hours glued to the Bunker too? 😀

    • WindexClear

Same damn story they ran this morning on the Today Show. Tony made the piece.

      • WindexClear

That didn’t sound right. I need to go to bed. To be CLEAR, it was the same thing they ran this morning. They’ve repackaged it as something new for each show. Tony made it worth watching and added something new.

        • MaxSpaceman

Dramatically different, Windex. What was up witchoo on the 1st post ?
I felt that too. But the repacking was cool w/ Tony :)

      • ObsessedReader

        Yep! He’s carrying everyone.

    • Jimmy Threetimes

But if they are actually looking into it, it could be very good.

      • ObsessedReader

True! Even more exposure of lil’ Dave’s shit-mountain of dirty deeds would be great.

    • Tory Christman

      Excellent Idea :)

  • TheHoleDoesNotExist

I don’t know if it was a scientologist or not in the audience tonight at Capital Theater in Clearwater, but they kept calling out, rudely, for certain songs – the last one being for a Clint Eastwood song. At this point, Diana Krall remembered that she was cool, hip and while Canadian born, she Is married to Elvis Costello. So she whipped around and looked straight up into the balcony and shouted “No!”. The audience lost it.

You own the audience now, Tony Ortega, not the networks, not the anchors or producers or the corporate accounting shirt. I meant it when I said you were in the pocket tonight. You’ll have a hard time fact checking that concept – it doesn’t exist. You just Know, you know, when you’re in the zone. The audience is now all yours. Do What Thou Wilt!

    • Snake Plissken

The media is just a conduit

The bottom line is Tony has the truth , cold, hard, well research, and well documented, facts.

      Scientology has nothing

Their fake religion, fake navy costumes, fake churches along with their imaginary war and their imaginary enemies gets them nothing in the real world … other than laughter.

A snitching culture is probably one of the better -or least worst-things said about Scientology. Yet it conjures up the fifth-grade bully riding roughshod over all the eight and nine year olds…images from jail cell scenes in old movies…and the scene in old gangster movies of the one who had his head blown off for being so incredibly stupid.

Scientology is always worse than we think.

    • Hingle McCringleberry

Snitches Get Commendations doesn’t rhyme. It doesn’t have nearly the charm and appeal of Snitches Get Stitches. Reason #126 I’d be the worst Scientologist ever.

      • Jenstnick

        Snitches are Dave’s bitches

While I could have watched O’Donnell interview Tony for hours, that was a concise 3:39 of AirPlay. Btw, Tony you looked as handsome as you did an expert.

  • Jonathan Cummings

This is such a great time to be a Bunkerite! Practically every day now there seems to be a new juicy nugget posted by Tony O. showing another PR disaster for Scientology. I cannot wait to see what new calamity will befall the “church” next. I wonder how much scotch the Tiny Terrorist needs to drink each night to get some shuteye? Tick Tock

  • StudentOfLife

Back from teaching tennis all evening after watching the Bunker on separate screen all day while working my energy consultant job from home. Didn’t see this scrolling down but it’s worth a repeat for those who missed it. Yahoo keeps entheta at the top of it’s home page! https://www.yahoo.com/tv/s/going-clear-star-defections-parodies-scientology-lost-grip-195637286.html No one is afraid to mock MissSavage anymore.

    • L. Wrong Hubturd

      Nice life!

didn’t have time to work on the cure for cancer and world peace??

      • StudentOfLife

I’m a longtime Unitarian Universalist and they definitely work for world peace as pacifists though I personally think there is no peace without military strength (unfortunate axiom of human life). I worked in sales, teaching (have Masters in Education certified math teacher) and tennis coaching much of my life. My Disqus name comes from the fact I was raised a Witness, converted to Protestantism, tried Buddhism, Trans Meditation, flirted with Scientology until I fooled the E-Meter and realized it can’t tell I’m playing the role of Raskolnikov when they asked me about my fascination with Russian History, tried Wicca, Native Americanism, atheism, and finally came to the conclusion that most truth I know comes from knowing what is not true. Evil, like Scientology…it’s like the Supreme Court Justice said about pornography….you know it when you see it. FFT MissSavage is evil.

A year ago I was nearly homeless due to my investing money for years with an OT5 who misappropriated hundreds of thousands to Lie-In-tology as he went up the bridge. Broke and penniless after living the life of a prince, he still thinks he’s done nothing wrong, claiming the exchange was fair as it was a risk, that he had some PTS’s and SPs he did not catch soon enough in his life, lol. That is the only reason he never paid his promised 25 percent return per year when he used to be a 1 percenter…I now know the reg’s put him up to it as well as overcharged him for services based on his income. It’s okay, I am recovering as my energy business took off after the first of the year and I”m confident I ‘ll be back on my feet by end of 2015 as I enjoy watching Miscavige flee the Senate subpoenas. Life is good, but very messy what I will have to go through being declared SP soon. Love you all and I’m hitting it early as I stayed up til 2am last night reading all the comments.

okay….okay…everyone settle down. I know we are ALL excited and have our undergarments in a bunch. However, I do advise that we start brainstorming what other cults that we should start planning on joking and degrading about. I see Scientology coming apart at the seams and I’m already bored. Unless Tony makes another post in the next hour or so : ) Am I asking for too much? Did I get spoiled too fast? Are we all still awake?

      Walmart

      • Wogsy Wonka

The lighting in Walmart is bad and makes my skin look clammy. Whenever I walk in there I get depressed…i’ll pass.

        • ObsessedReader

I thought that was just me! I hate the place, it smells like donut-tires. And the really depressing part is the horrible way they treat their factory workers in China. :(

          • Wogsy Wonka

            I’d rather go to Target pronounced “Tar-Jey” : )

          • L. Wrong Hubturd

Oh man, then do not EVER go into a Harbor Freight store. It smells like pure Chinese factory. Grease, rubber, paint, chemicals probably not allowed to be used in the US.

            • ObsessedReader

Thanks for the warning! My husband keeps trying to get me to go there with him to check out the tools. Seems like it would be a hunk a junk, even from the outside!

            • L. Wrong Hubturd

Some people love it. Most of the tools in the there are pure crap garbage. There are a few items that are a good deal, but if it is a tool you will regularly use, skip it and get a good, name brand.

            • ObsessedReader

He used to be a meat and potato kind of guy. Used to make fun of me because I didn’t eat red meat. I worked in burn unit during nurse rotation. And, I didn’t kill bugs. Now, the sandal is on the other foot. He is almost unrecognizable. He wrote a nasty gram to paper because they had a picture of dead animal and didn’t warn people. I would just look away. But, he wrote a pissy piece. It is hard to not want to fuck with them. Sorry , I am venting!

            • MoX, Mother of Xenu

One of my favorite web letters:

I cook with bacon and bacon grease. That’s nothing new. Your being a vegetarian doesn’t change the fact that stuffing without bacon is like egg salad without eggs. Even the green bean casserole has a little bacon grease in it. That’s why it tastes so good. Not eating bacon is just not natural. And as far as being healthy… look at me. I’ve outlived almost everyone I know.

I enjoyed that. Then my wife made me read a couple of the cached links from her blog, and I got very angry and spilled boiling water while trying to drain pasta. Water crystals. The International Churches of Christ (Boston Movement).
This highly evangelistic group which began in 1978 with Kip McKean embraces most of the main tenets of the historic Church. Teaches that it is the only true Church and is highly authoritarian, with immense control over members’ lives.

And a couple of reliable oldies:

      The Family (Children of God).
This communal group was founded by David “Moses” Berg. A strange mixture of basic Christian tenets and almost total sexual license. Very controlling and manipulative.

The Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity (Unification Church).
Founded in 1954 by Sun Myung Moon, this highly authoritarian and destructive group teaches that Jesus failed on the cross. Moon is now the mediator between God and man.

Everyone thought I was a little crazy… it was the 70s. I was just a little ahead of my time. T’ai Chi is fabulous.

But I am hopped up on cold medication so I’ll just say good night.

        • Wogsy Wonka

…awwww. I was joking. it will probably be awhile before I start dating again. after leaving the love of my life for scientology, I’m kind of emotionally closed off. besides..I just turned 32, and I think I will wait as long as I possibly can before even considering a serious relationship again, and I’m not even sure if i want children. I’m sure you will find a beautiful daughter in law in the future : )

    • TheHoleDoesNotExist

I’m almost afraid to open the Bunker tomorrow morning. Oh who am I kidding?

      • Sherbet

Might as well face it, you’re addicted to lov…ing the Bunker. Me, too. Goodnight, friend.

        • TheHoleDoesNotExist

          Night.

      • Newiga

Indeed! So much stuff happening that the Bunker never sleeps. I’ve been busy with work related stuff for the last 24 hours and look what I’ve missed!

Ps. Tony, I hope you get a good night’s sleep tonight!

    • Gerard Plourde

      Good night, Sherbet.

        • MoX, Mother of Xenu

I must be coming off a little more clueless than intended. Thanks for keeping it unreal. :)

          • MaxSpaceman

Most Bunkeroos connect the length of time a particular ‘handle’ has been seen around the Bunker with clued-in or not. The new ‘handles’ are automatically registered as ‘not too clued-in’ mostly. And MoX is a relatively new handle. So, MoX is auto-assumed to not know much about the subject, and not clued-in.

But you’ve been following 0T8isGr’s blog and are clued-in more than some may assume.

      • MoX, Mother of Xenu

        WHAT?!?!?

Next you’ll be telling me that Santa doesn’t exist and those pellets left by the rabbit this weekend weren’t chocolate!

        • Wogsy Wonka

Yes OtVIII is great is great is a sock puppet of J swift…it is supposed to be a joke : )

          • MoX, Mother of Xenu

Now I gotta find tissues and wrap my mind around the fact that I’ve been following his blog and never realized it was a joke.

Does that mean I can stop fretting about that nice Ken Delusion?

            • Wogsy Wonka

oh no! …not sure who ken delusion is….sorry

            • ComeToPresentTime

I am no longer afraid of this church. Been lurking on this site for almost a year now. Tired of being silent out of fear. Been a pseudo never-in since the 70s. My whole family was in it but I miraculously never became one. Huge respect to all the people who have spoken out despite the potential for continuous harassment. Tony, Tory, Mike, Marty and the rest…you guys rock! David Homunculuscavige, your days are numbered. So many stories to tell. In good time…

    • MaxSpaceman

Looking forward to some of the ‘so many stories to tell.’ :)

      • GuidedByMe

My parents got involved in the church in the late 60’s. They met while in the church and soon gave birth to me. In the mid 70s my mother divorced my father, mostly due to his penchant towards extreme physical abuse to me and my sister. He was a high level auditor, by the way. Up until he left in the mid 2000s. Wouldn’t be surprised if he audited some of you guys here in the Bunker.
My mother remarried to another scio in the mid 70s. My mother would tell me all types of stories about the church but she never forced me to join, which was pretty impressive/interesting since most religious people tend to really push their religion unto their ilk. The funny thing is, as a child, when my mother would explain what the church was about (helping people to live better lives, getting rid of their neurosis, having better relationships, etc), all I saw were scios with all those problems, even worse than my “WOG” friends. And I thought to myself, “Wow, this “tech” doesn’t seem to be working, now, does it?” Hence why I never became one. I don’t think I was much of a clever child to have avoided the insidious snare of the church, I just think my mother really gave me a sense of autonomy and I feel blessed for that. Don’t get any ideas because I said “blessed”. I loathe religion! It’s late. I promise to post more. Thank you all for standing up against this horrid church. I have seen and experienced first hand how diabolical it is.

  • M from Toronto

Here I thought spending the night de-scaling my coffee machine was going to be boring… (never let it get to the point that it tells you to de-scale!)
Should have known better than that. Tony O. was great on MSNBC and the Bunkerites were great on the play by play as always. It’s not a bad thing that DM is a violent control freak, he’s providing the ammunition. At this rate I wonder if the morning will bring an official church statement that everyone can ‘expletive expletive on Hollywood Blvd, I’m a big being!’ because at this point he might as well go on as he has been.

waving hello to my bunkeroo family i had to come post this here because a few people definitely need to educate some of the posters on this blog.. i used to go at it with one of them named ” travelinglimey” who would flip his lid at any mention of cos but the comments concerning the story of the pi and misdruidage has me in tears of laughter one poster has even said and i quote ” it isnt like scientology has killed any one ” smh.. for some reason for the last 2 weeks i havent been able to post or if i can i cant see my posts.. im told im not banned and dont see a reason why i would be but in any case they definitely need to be educated about scientology not killing anyone

    • ThePanopticon

Nice catch! And from his piece:

“If the elder Miscavige wanted to sue, he could proceed with a tort actions alleging violation of privacy (inclusion upon seclusion). This could include even some public encounters. The allegations would raise some interesting issues of intrusion upon seclusion and a comparison to Nader v. General Motors Corp., where Ralph Nader was able to show that GM hired detectives to follow him closely. One such instance involved looking over his shoulder at banks to read his bank slips, which was found to be an intrusion upon seclusion even though it was a public place.

There is also trespass on the vehicle with the GPS device. Notably, the Supreme Court recently ruled that police cannot use such devices without a warrant.”

  • ComeToPresentTime

Well done Tony, that was great how you touched on the whole snitching/KR culture. Coupling that with them spending $15 mil on surveilling Pat Broeker over 24 years, yeah it’s becoming more and more difficult for informed members of the public to write this off as being just like every other religion. You”re very adept at conveying convoluted aspects of Scientology in a very compressed amount of time.

I hope Reza Aslan and Neil DeGrasse Tyson manage to see this.

Morning, Bunkeroos who may be awake at 3:30 East Coast time. Just ordered an Apple Watch as a reward for finishing my novel and look, there are 1899 comments here, on top of who knows how many for the earlier post. The Bunker is on fire.

Exciting times for the Scion-watching community. And for Tony Ortega fans. I’d say it’s hard to believe — but really what I find hard to believe is that it took so long. I mean, Tony has been on this beat for 20 years and all this time the COS has been just as evil as it is today. Stories like this have been coming out thanks to Tony and a handful of other brave journalists for a long, long time. But at least, thank heavens, the world is at last paying attention, and Tony is getting some of the recognition and acknowledgement he has earned.

Hope y’all are well and hunkered down in Bunker Town.

    • Jack99

      Congratulations on the novel!

      • Richard Grant

Thanks mate. I beat my own son Matt to the finish line on this one. He’s revising his first novel and has a much higher body count than mine, though he says they’re mostly “grey characters” so I guess he doesn’t score full points.

    • Baby

Oh yay Richard.. Woo Hoo.. That is fabulous news. I am proud of you.. ; D

      • Richard Grant

Thanks, Baby. I’m only late by a couple of years so I’m hoping nobody will notice.

        • Baby

I admire you..I have always wanted to write a book.. But.

Good Luck.. Do you have a title yet?

          • Richard Grant

The working title has been “Cave Dwellers” and I haven’t changed it yet, but I’m not in love with that. It follows on from a novel called “Another Green World” and the next one I’m calling “Loss Garden” so I’d like to think of something, I don’t know, greener.

    • Are_sics

Agree with all you said about Tony…
and congrats on the new novel! I can’t wait to see it. I’ve been reading “Another Green World”. You’re a ridiculously good writer. Good enough that I’m angry, with jealousy, every time I pick it up, for at least several paragraphs before I get caught up in how good it is, apart from my own writerly aspirations.

      Seriously.

And yes, Tony… for a couple decades… really has shown this “beat” and its byways very beautifully and courageously, indeed.

      • Richard Grant

Why thank you, Are_sics, that’s so kind!

    • Zana

Let us know how you like your Apple Watch.

      • Richard Grant

Thanks — by the time my order went through at 3:11, shipping times had already slipped to 4-6 weeks! I’m not sure this kind of delayed reward scheme will be effective. I may have to blow money on something else. Like my $385 bill for snow plowing.

        • Zana

I look forward to reading your novel. !! I’m a screenwriter. I’m always reading. That’s the only reason I like the gym…I bring my iPad and read on the machines. I got hooked by Outlander last August… and read all novels back-to-back without stopping. Sometimes I read them on my Kindle while stuck in L.A. traffic. Couldn’t put them down. Let me know when yours comes out. Good for you. Congratulations! That’s a fabulous accomplishment. Tremendous work.

          • http://www.tonyortega.org/ DodoTheLaser

You are a screenwriter, Zana?! Very cool. I am a screenwatcher.

            • Sarcasmo

Interesting how many screenwriters are here. I wrote several, sold a couple (unproduced) and did some work polishing other writer’s scripts/turds. The ‘best’ was an ex-cop from Florida who thought his life story was interesting enough to be filmed and wanted me to polish his script. The “screenplay” consisted of a short sentence or two at the top of every page saying things like “this is where I dive through the open passenger window of the bad guy’s speeding car and take him out.” “This is where I jump off the bridge and land in the bad guy’s boat and take out him and his henchmen.” Nothing else. I upped my price – considerably.

That reminds me, whatever happened to Shirley Ujeste (sp?) She had a joker avatar and was a very frequent commenter for awhile. I always admired her catchy name (it doesn’t take much to amuse me).

        • MaxSpaceman

          She vanished.

          • ObsessedReader

I hope she’s okay! That seems to happen fairly often, someone comments frequently then all of a sudden disappears. I always hope that “real life” has just gotten in their way and nothing worse.

I fell asleep last night waiting for The Last Word on MSNBC.. I woke up a little before 2am and they were just about to repeat the scientology bit, so I got to see Tony.. Lawrence O’Donnell is a good interviewer.. He’d ask a question and then he shut up and let Tony talk.. So Tony got in some great info.. I hope someone links it today if they haven’t already..

    • Eivol Ekdal

It’s been linked below. Quite good wasn’t it?
The fact about KRs hit Lawrence in the forehead and made him sit upright!

“Caught with his appendage in a wringer … ” ha ha, I love Mike Rinder’s genteel literary style …

Before I went to bed last night I went by Media Lush’s page … what a ton of great screen grabs on this story … the Midget Mobster is being soooo outed …

Tony was stellar as usual on MSNBC – despite the ridiculously short segment he makes every second count – “culture of snitching/interrogation” … BAM! Have another scotch, Slappy – Mr. Lovely is at the castle gates, and he’s not alone …

By reading the report I noticed two things:
    1. PI Powell was himself being watched by another PI to make sure he was doing what he was supposed to be doing. So, one PI spying on another. Both hired by Miscavige.
    2. Miscavige phoning himself directly with Powell seems to prove he is controlling and managing the PI personally. He is giving orders directly. This could be worth as much as having a paper with his signature on it.
The trail leads back to him.

Also interesting to note is that both Dwayne and his son independently corroborated this story seperately. The son had no idea what his father had already told investigators. I REALLY want to know what was on the media storage and laptops!

OK, I have been away from the bunker for 24 hrs. and when I logged in I of course read this information. This truly gave me the willies. I have worked in law enforcement, and finding someone with a silencer is a huge red flag, so I understand whey they called the ATF. Also, no private investigator I have ever dealt with FORGETS that they have an arsenal and several guns in their car. I am appalled that this P.I. called DM instead of intervening when he thought that DM’s father was having a heart attack. Even if only for selfish purposes (as in $10,000 per week) wouldn’t he want him alive? He has to call mien fuhrer for instructions? I am speechless, truly.

Tony another great piece, rest assured we here in Holland are rooting for you ! You are my personal anti scientology hero

I jes wanna dedicate this song to Slappy’s office. Why? Well, I think he’s been sooooo hot with rage this past week that his lampshades must surely be on fire….

I have it from an inside source that one of the reasons why Slappy wanted his Dad followed and watched is because his Dad knows the truth about his son and Tommy the Cruiser. For example, Ron Miscavige overheard Slappy singing this to TC during that fateful year when TC threw Nicole under the bus….with Slappy’s and the tech’s help of course….

It is brilliant to be able to read the raw report of the incident, however, I have concerns that the complainant’s information, including address and phone number (even age, height and weight) are on open display. It seems inappropriate to expose this individual whose personal information is not relevant to the story being reported. Please consider obscuring this information.
