…(1) directly contradicts numerous past statements by Giuliani; when the Ukraine story finally broke open Giuliani vociferously maintained that he was acting at the direction of the state dept, specifically Kurt Volker; and
(2) greatly undermines his client’s expected defense, which was that everything Trump did was fine, regardless of whether it looks like extortion, because it was under the umbrella of “foreign policy,” where the president has broad discretion. If Giuliani’s acted solely in the President’s personal interest, it can’t also be that the President was conducting foreign policy through Giuliani. What an idiot.
