COMING IN MAY: A book about Scientology’s most infamous campaign of terror

UnbreakableCover

London-based Silvertail Books is to publish The Unbreakable Miss Lovely by Tony Ortega, the story of the life of author Paulette Cooper, the most famous victim of the Church of Scientology’s notorious and ruthless ‘Fair Game’ retaliation schemes.

Ortega, the former editor-in-chief of The Village Voice, spent two years working with Cooper, interviewing her and reviewing her personal papers, as well as interviewing dozens of people, many of whom have never spoken publicly before, in order to piece together this stunning account of what it can cost someone to unearth Scientology’s secrets.

His sources include witnesses to Cooper’s harassment and, in a few cases, people who took part in it. Those interviews, as well as documents which have never been previously made public, provide the first full telling of what Paulette Cooper experienced — from her childhood in a Nazi concentration camp, to her life as a New York magazine writer, to becoming the most famous target of Scientology’s revenge.

London-based Silvertail Books previously published BBC journalist John Sweeney’s book, The Church of Fear: Inside the Weird World of Scientology, and last year brought Russell Miller’s landmark biography of Scientology’s founder, Bare-Faced Messiah: The True Story of L. Ron Hubbard, back into print for the first time in 27 years.

Silvertail publisher Humfrey Hunter said: “A lot of people have been waiting a long time for Tony Ortega to write a book about Scientology and The Unbreakable Miss Lovely will not disappoint. It is an extraordinary story of terrible things done to a woman who did not deserve them and shines a light into the darkest corner of the history of the Church of Scientology. Tony has done a wonderful job with the narrative – the story reads like a thriller. This is an outstanding work of investigative authorship by a very fine journalist and I’m delighted Silvertail is to be his publisher.”

Tony Ortega has written about Scientology as a journalist for nearly 20 years, and began working with Paulette Cooper about her life story while he was still at the Voice. Ortega appears in Alex Gibney’s HBO-produced documentary about Scientology, Going Clear, which premieres at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah on January 25, and he will be in attendance.

Silvertail bought world rights directly from the author and will publish in paperback and ebook in May 2015 in the US and the UK.

Jon_AtackHistorian Jon Atack on The Unbreakable Miss Lovely

In the late 1960s, an ambitious young journalist had a bizarre encounter with a Scientologist, who claimed to be God and then tried to sexually assault her. Her curiosity was aroused. She was eager for unusual stories, and soon became an expert on the strange cult of Scientology. Paulette Cooper was a vivacious go-getter. She was also a Holocaust baby, who had survived against all odds and been adopted by an American couple. She went on to publish one of the most important accounts in the field – The Scandal of Scientology.

Paulette and I have been friends for many years, drawn together by our mutual experience of the vindictive nature of the Scientology “church.” I survived 16 years of harassment, but horrifying though my experiences were, they pale in comparison to the onslaught that Paulette survived.

Tony Ortega is the worthy successor of Paulette Cooper’s hard-hitting investigation of the cult. I have worked with perhaps 200 journalists in the last 30 years. A very few have proved to be resilient, despite the cult’s invidious practices. No one has done better work than Tony. Anyone who has told the truth about Scientology knows that there is little in the way of glory to be had, and no financial benefit. We stand up, because we are appalled at the abuses of this enslaving cult. Tony’s tenacity is a marvel.

Under the direction of its malignant creator, L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology developed an intelligence agency second only to the infamous KGB in its infiltration of western government agencies. The Guardian’s Office was a formidable and fanatical organization, which campaigned relentlessly to protect Hubbard from prosecution and successfully dissuaded or ruined most of Scientology’s critics. Paulette Cooper was a prime target. She was preyed upon by agents, who inserted themselves into her private life and referred to her as “Miss Lovely” in their reports. She was framed for a bomb threat and indicted. She was subjected to a whispering campaign, where her neighbours were assured she was a child molester. The attack was relentless and very nearly caused her to take her own life.

Tony Ortega tells the story of this remarkable woman and of the invidious organization that tried to destroy her. He tells the story of the Guardian’s Office, an intelligence organization that penetrated the US government and was able to subvert US policy to the extent that Scientology was ultimately granted religious status and tax-exemption.

Eleven Scientology officials, including Hubbard’s wife, were given prison sentences in a campaign that had included kidnapping, false imprisonment, breaking and entering, theft and the forgery of government credentials. Almost forty other Scientologists, including Hubbard, were named as co-conspirators in this case.

The details are worthy of John Le Carre, and Tony has created a page-turner that is packed with barely believable facts – all soundly based upon the admissions offered by the conspirators themselves in court proceedings. Tony fleshes out my own brief description, in Let’s sell these people A Piece of Blue Sky, with startling information. This book is a must read for anyone who is interested in this most fascinating of groups, or in the nature of intelligence agencies.

This is just starting to sink in how significant this is. I can’t wait to see internal Scientology files published widely. Karma is a bitch.

Hi DDD. It’s actually tomorrow (again). The Bunker does twisty things to time, don’t you agree?

      • Douglas D. Douglas

        Not tomorrow here, yet.

        • Ardent

Of course! I forgot about the Secret Moonbase. Sssssh!

  • Ardent

I can’t upvote at the moment. DDD and Baby, consider yourselves given a friendly thumbs up. Stupid technology!

  • noseinabk

The cover photo reminds me of someone and it is driving me nuts trying to place who. I thought Debra Winger but know that is close but not it.???

    • Rita Gregory

Young Helen Mirren or Katherine Deneuve.

      • noseinabk

Helen Mirren . Good eye Rita.

        • Rita Gregory

          Thanks. 🙂

          • Ardent

I second noseinabk. There are facial similarities. However, it all goes to show what beautiful woman Paulette is!

      • Douglas D. Douglas

        Deneuve:

        • Baby Mcgee

Perfect.. wow.. I’m too tired to do Naomi Watts, but she has same features..

          • Douglas D. Douglas

            Naomi Watts?

            (Refresh)

            • Baby Mcgee

thank you 3D.. You have outdone yourself tonight.. Yep I can see it.. darker hair and darker makeup around the eyes.. same bone structure..and smile..

        Mirren:

(This is a good match, I think!)

    • Douglas D. Douglas

I dunno. Maybe it’s just me:

      (refresh)

      • Ardent

This makes realise, once again, why I think Julia Roberts is NOT a beauty. And yes, I know, I hold a minority opinion. Please don’t bite? Thanks.

        • Douglas D. Douglas

She is a collection of features that should not go together, but do. In my opinion not a traditional beauty.

          • Ardent

Oh, thank goodness. OK, I’ll be blunt: horse-teeth, disturbingly large mouth, and an almost Nixonian nose. Ugh. I yearn for Ingrid Berman or Paulette Goddard. Lovely lovely lovely…

            • Douglas D. Douglas

(Note I chose a photo that did not feature that blinding, Grand Canyon smile…)

            • Ardent

You refer, of course, to what is quietly called ‘The Gaping Vortex of Insipid’. Yes, indeedy!

            • Douglas D. Douglas

Bergman. Stunning. And what an incredible mind.

          • Missionary Kid

The same was said about Sophia Loren.

            • Douglas D. Douglas

              Wha….???

            • Missionary Kid

Sophia was described, to paraphrase it, as a collection of features that were thrown together, or something similar, but who ended up looking ravishing. When when first came into the public eye, she was considered a very unconventional, if not exotic beauty.
Over the years, we have accepted her as one standard of beauty.

        • Rita Gregory

I see we are of like mind on this subject!

        • noseinabk

I get what you are saying Ardent, however, I do what I tell my kids to do. Look at a person long enough and if average you will find the beautiful in them. Look at the most beautiful people and you will find the flaws. Both of my daughters have gotten compliments on thier looks and I tell them that pretty is a dime a dozen and has no value. True beauty shines no matter what you look like.

          • Ardent

Of course! You and I are in total agreement about that. But she’s publicly paraded about as ‘stunning’, etc.. In real life, I hold myself quite tightly to the See The Real Person rule. There are so many types of beauty, and of course even hidden beauty can unfold over time. I personally am attracted to the ‘strange’ beauty as opposed to the obvious (save when I’m just being a normal dude checking out the ladies). Yes, I far prefer the subtle beauty, and most important, a person should be beautiful INSIDE in order to hold, engage and bewitch me.

          • Ardent

Check your personal comments page? I replied. Cheers.

        • Sidney18511

I think with Julia Roberts it’s all about that big genuine smile of hers.

        • Observer

          I’m with you.

        • Destructor of Worlds

To much mouth, too skinny in the cheek departement.

      • Rita Gregory

IMHO Julia is not as attractive as Paulette. Julia’s got those big teeth and her nose and lips aren’t right.

        • Douglas D. Douglas

The nose is the main feature that doesn’t match. Thin down the lipstick, pluck the eyebrows and streak the hair (Paulette’s is in the fashion of that era), and you otherwise have a pretty good match, methinks.

(And yes, Paulette is a much more traditional beauty.)

          • Rita Gregory

I think Julia is attractive for the offbeat features, just can’t see her playing Paulette. 🙂

          • Missionary Kid

I didn’t see your post, but I think she has a real touch of a young Candace Bergen, and I said that she’s better looking than Roberts. I believe that what makes Roberts attractive is not so much her features, but her underlying personality.

            • Ardent

              That, (personality) I’d believe.

      • Baby Mcgee

NAH..I’m not a fan of JR for some reason..

        • Douglas D. Douglas

Not a matter of being a fan or liking her looks. It’s trying to figure out who she reminds us of.

          • Baby Mcgee

Oh sorry.. I thought you were trying to figure out who to play her in a film.. carry on..

( Still not a fan) hahahhaa

Yes, especially when she has shoulder length hair. I was thinking of her in Mr. Deeds.

          • Baby Mcgee

Another female that popped into my head was Rose Byrne. She’s definitely got the acting chops for the role.

Ravishing! Those eyes…. (Heavy thud as I fall to the ground, struck by beauty)

        • Elegant Mess

Glad I could give you something nice to dream about tonight! 😉

      • Baby Mcgee

        Beautiful.. Yes fabulous actress..

    • Hingle McCringleberry

Normally, I agree with you on just about everything. And in this case, I agree that she’s a tremendous actress and one of my favorites. That said, she’s Claire Underwood, the most gloriously hateful character ever, besides her fictional husband. She’d make a hell of a Communicator Lou, or a better put together Jenny Linson. . .

      • Baby Mcgee

Hi Hingle.. OMG you agree with me on just about everything.. ** Faints** No one has ever said that to me..haha..

You are right.. Lou or Jenny.. I can see that.. I have seen her look crazy eyes with short hair.. xo

  • Ardent

Just one more thing…goodnight everybody. Off to sleep. (waves cheerfully) 🙂

    • Douglas D. Douglas

      Nighters!

    • Elegant Mess

      G’night, Ardent! Sleep well.

If I can get it together turn this thing off. It has been an exciting day here!

  • Totally brilliant! Very much looking forward to this (I have to wait until May?!?)

  • AtariBaby

I find this website full of great writing. Thank you for all the work you guys put into it.

    • Ardent

Hi Atari. You’re joining the comments? I have not run across you before. Welcome to the Bunker. I’ll venture a ‘thanks’ on behalf of everyone, and hope you’ll keep visiting. It’s a nice place, The Bunker.

    • Douglas D. Douglas

Yes, welcome! If you don’t have anything nice to say about Scientology, you’ve come to the right place…!

    • Baby Mcgee

Welcome Atari.. So glad you could join us.. We are all really, really happy tonight because Tony Ortega has a book coming out ..and we are celebrating..

Pull up a chair and enjoy the ride..It gets crazy in here.

Edit: Make sure you wear your seat belt at all times..

  • Georget1952

Finally! I personally have waited for years for Tony to get a book out, and this subject is perfect! For some reason, I feel that Tony will not have to worry about people getting the word out. I think the Bunker Dwellers will surface many, many times for that purpose, and will give glowing reviews for it. I would think Tony O. should get ready to give many interviews about this book, as the media clearly is no longer afraid of the cherch of Scn. I have read Paulette’s book online and I also have her book in my ever growing collection of books by people who have left or by people who have researched and saw how corrupt the cherch is. Paulette is truly a extraordinary women who endured so much and came out whole. She certainly has my respect!

  • Jimmy3

I thought I had skipped a couple days somehow. Anyway, congrats Tony, I can’t wait to read it.

    • Funny! Yes, congrats Tony! I love the fact that someone in OSA/RTC will read it too.

  • Jenstnick

    This looks amazing! So excited!

  • Jenstnick

By the way, I have to insist there be a book signing in HEMET!!!

    • Baby Mcgee

I swear to God..I would personally put a table in front and display and sell the book…

      • Jenstnick

I only live about thirty mins from there so I would be right by your side.

        • Baby Mcgee

Well Jen.. It’s all set. I will bring my Hookah and my Bull Horn.

          • Frodis73

Ha! I thought you were in bed sleeping. Lol. You crack me up.

    • Baby

Did you just change your avi Jens? I love it..

    • Oh that’d be great!! I have a friend in Hemet and I’d send her to get a signed copy!! 🙂 Actually knowing her, she’d probably wanna fly me out there—-but I prefer to avoid flying since that incident when my broom crashed into a tree 😀

      • Rita Gregory

That’s the crash that caused your middle finger to be stuck in the air, isn’t it? 😀

        • It’s the darnest thing!! People are unaware but my middle finger is my compass and it likes to point North a lot! 😉

  • Baby Mcgee

OK.. I am going to bed.. Let’s make a pact ..No more comments because I don’t want to miss anything..hahha love you guys..fabulous day.. I am so happy ..and proud.. Yay.. Love baby

    • Douglas D. Douglas

      No more comments.

That’s what I get for missing a day at the bunker. I have been wondering when Tony Ortega would write a book about scientology. I knew it would be a whopper and I was curious to see what he could bring to the table with a cult that has had several books written about it. I couldn’t think of what he could write that had not been covered already. Well I got my answer, when I opened this web site this morning, And saw he was writing a book about Paulette cooper .. I just started laughing. I didn’t see it coming, and what a great idea for a book. I for one will buy a copy. I bet OSA shit when they saw this, because I doubt they saw it coming either ..
Another torpedo in the great ship Stupidology.

  • In case anyone wonders, scientology code-named Paulette “Miss Lovely” when they were conspiring against her.
Hence, Tony’s “The Unbreakable Miss Lovely” book title.

Aaron Paul could play David Miscavige.
    Now back to sleep.

    • Baby

too handsome.. too tall..( 5’8″) remember Tom Thumb errr David Thumb is only 4’13”

      • Sarah James

Yes to all of the above, Baby, but Aaron can act ! He could act the hell out of David Miscavige’s tantrums and really do justice to the psycho which is DM! lol

        • Baby

Well bring it on.. we need someone to do justice.. I guess I’m not familiar with Aaron’s work Sarah..

          • Sarah James

He played Jessy on Breaking Bad. He’d have to wear a lot of makeup to play the alcohol soaked psycho pope, but I think he could more than pull it off. lol

            • Baby

I have never seen Breaking Bad.. sigh.. I hear it was good.. But I agree.. ugh

      • L. C. Spencer

Here’s your short, scary blue-eyed psycho right here. He’s better-looking than DM, but his face is really malleable to character, a la Robert Duvall. But if you doubt me: http://teamcoco.com/video/elijah-wood-serial-killer

        • Baby

OK..I can see it..I clicked on and saw an interview with him.. definitely

          • L. C. Spencer

Creepy, right? And he LOVES playing scary, way more than a tiny cheerful adorable elf should.

            • Baby

He is creepy.. I don’t think there is anything more scary than a normal looking handsome guy going psycho.. ( Ted Bundy) that is creepy..

    • Dale A.

I’m sure Tom Cruise would be honored to be offered the part.

      • Sarah James

Tony should only have the best actors in his movie. Tom, not that! 😉

  • Did my part on FB and Twitter.

  • Draco

There’s been a lot of talk downthread about who should play Paulette in the movie – but how about who should play May Sue Hubbard? After all she would be a key player as head of the GO. I think Marcia Cross would do quite nicely. She would have to be uglied up quite a bit with make-up, but I reckon she could do the cold-hearted bitch quite well!

    • Baby

Oh yes.. hahaha Ugly her up some.. Love it!

    • Baby

hey draco.. is your avi supposed to be a hint blurry.. I am bored and sharpened it up some.. but would not care either way if you used it or not..

      • Draco

That happened when I added some xmas bling and somehow messed up the original pic. Just hadn’t got around to fixing it. Thanks for reminding me 🙂

      • Draco

I went for a whole new look! 🙂

    • Julianne Moore is Moore like it.

    • L. C. Spencer

That would be absolutely brilliant casting.

  • Rita Gregory

I just went back to see if the hubby was awake and he’s watching a program about WW2. Hitler comes on the screen and thanks to Pan, I start laughing like an idiot. It was a long complicated explanation as to why.

    • Baby

hahahaha.. Rita I am bored do you want me to lighten up your avi or do you not want people to see..

      • Rita Gregory

        Have at it, Baby!

        • Baby

Ok…here is 2 to chose from..xox again if you don’t like them it wouldn’t hurt my feelings.. but you are soooo cute.. awwww too cute to hide in shadows..

          • Rita Gregory

Thanks! Hmmm. I think I need to take a new pic. My smile looks weird…

            • Baby

I love your dimples.. You look beautiful.. weird.. Puhleeeeeease.. You look sweet… hahahha

            • Rita Gregory

              Thanks, you’re too sweet! 🙂

            • Baby

You better fuckin believe it I’m sweet.. The only reason I laughed when I said you look sweet is because I’ve read some of your posts..hahaha

            • Rita Gregory

The dimples mask my evilness. 🙂

            • Draco

              Handy things, dimples

            • Baby

I never had any..My evil has always been in plain sight..ha

            • shasha40

              Nah , I agree with ,Baby , you’re Beautiful !

            • Rita Gregory

Thanks! You are too kind. 🙂

            • shasha40

              Your welcome ! 😉

        • Kim O’Brien

          you look great !

          • Rita Gregory

            Aww! Thanks Kim. 🙂

    • Jimmy3

It’s a long established meme, but Pan was the first to apply it to DM and the CoS perfectly. She consistently nails the timing of the dialogue.

      • Rita Gregory

I’ve seen them, but this one just knocked my socks off!

        • is there a new one?

          • Rita Gregory

Have you seen the one down thread? That’s the one I’m talking about.

            • No, I just got up and I didn’t go very far down in the comments, I’m sure it got posted in SPs on FB! If not, I’ll try to remember what Pan’s youtube account is and/or ask i-Betty! 🙂

ETA: Jimmy3 just saved me!!! HOORAY AND THANK YOU!!

          • Jimmy3

            Save you a search: http://youtu.be/2R-4_u61TWo

            • Jimmy3

It is dangerous to go alone
              Take this: <3

            • Thank you Jimmy! <3

            • Brilliant!!! Nicole Kidman as Paulette—YES!!! And yes, to Haggis and Beghe in it too! 🙂

            • Baby

Yes.. Beghe.. sigh.. He keeps up voting me.. OH YES HE DOES.. HE IS ALWAYS GUEST.

            • Rita Gregory

That cheating bastard “guest” up votes me too!

            • Baby

              WWWWWWWWWWhhhhhhhat.. Why I oughta

            • Draco

Sigh…Am right there with you, Baby

            • Baby

OOOH yes Draco..lovin the avi.. perfect!

            • Draco

              Thank you kindly :-*

            • Jimmy3

Of all the J&D here, where I cracked up was “You’ll still be able to find parking, I promise.”

            • I loved that too!! Cuz it’s ALL about postulating parking spots!!

            • HillieOnTheBeach

That, and “Anyone who has cable, a smartphone or has used Google, leave now” when most of the officers leave. It’s a reference to the often reported surprising number of under-the-radars who stay in to avoid disconnection, harassment or other consequences.

            • HTC

              I don’t get that…what’s it mean?

            • HillieOnTheBeach

It’s a recurring theme that scilons claim as wins and evidence of their increased powers (per testimonials): they find advantageous parking spaces and traffic lights turn green as they approach them.

            • HTC

Oh thank you Hillie, just another batshit crazy claim.

            • HillieOnTheBeach

To add. we became aware of those testimonials originally published in cos’s Advance magazine when Tony was posting them here as a weekly feature.

Scilon selective claims of powers over natural phenomena and coincidence was jaw-droppingly puerile.

One Bunker favorite is the scilon telling how his/her powers were responsible in a split-second manoeuvre that avoided what could’ve been a serious automobile accident. The scilon claimed the other driver immediately recognized the magic nature of what just happened and came out of his car asking “How did you do that?”

We here at the Bunker suspected the other driver’s words were actually quite choicier.

            • Graham

Ironically, here in the Real World engineers and computer guys are working on cars which will be able to interact with traffic lights and will be able to direct the driver to vacant parking spaces. So we’ll all have access to those Oaty Powerz without having had to sell our souls for the privilege.

            • HillieOnTheBeach

              Dayum, that was brilliant!

            • Graham

It’s just taken me 10 mins to talk my partner through this and explain all the Scieno jargon (eg the significance of finding parking spaces!).

            • Stacy

“Tell the flat lady to practice her scales.”

I’m in tears, I have coffee on my sweatshirt, and my cheeks hurt from laughing so hard. This has to be Pan’s best, the pinnacle of Hitler/ DM spoofs. Thank you Pan, and thank you Jimmy for posting it. I have to go get more coffee and change my sweatshirt. LOL.

    • Baby

OMG.. so much better.. smooches.. I love seeing your face. It made my day.. Well.. You know after Tony’s big news..ha

      • Rita Gregory

        Thank you! (blushes)

  • Baby

    Let’s see 387 + 1344 = 1,731 posts so far with the 2 posts on Jan.9 .. Yippee..

  • Best Sunday Funnies ever.

    • Baby

Dodo I thought a new post was up! ha

  • Sejanus

Oh man I step away from the net for one day..ONE….and look what I miss…dammit!

Looking very very forward to this read.
Ms Coopers story grabbed me and shook me to the core when I first went down the raabbit hole.
I had the good fortune to share a few emails back and forth with her and found her a lovely human being with an amazing story to tell.

Tony I find to be a credible, thorough journalist who never ceases to document the Co$ evenly, fairly and by so doing shows all the shame that is the cult, beautifully condemned by their own evil acts.

This will very much go into my library when it comes out.

    • Baby

Love that you exchanged e mails with Paulette SeJ.. wow.. that is something special..

      • Sejanus

I really felt it important to recognize what her work cost her on a personal level.
Her story really got to me.

If you get a chance..read up on her story of being a cruiseline stowaway….it is awesome!

        • Baby

I read her book Sej.. Is that what you mean..?

          • Sejanus

Yes the one she did as a reporter…it was really wild.

          • Sejanus
            • Baby

OMG.. Yes..ha.. I had read that.. I will read it again. I remember how great it was..

  • Tony Ortega

Hey, morning crew. With our schedule changing yesterday, ,we’re going to leave this post up for now to make sure and catch folks who weren’t expecting our surprise to show up yet. Thanks for all of the well wishes.

    • Heck, I can live even few more days without updates. I think.

      • HillieOnTheBeach

I was wondering if the book’s announcement was early or whether we’re still going to have a “1 day until our special Underground Bunker announcement at noon, January 12” when Tony posts the funnies later.

        Speculation RISING!

      • shasha40

Right ? Nah , I need a daily fix of tiny dick’ s slow but painful demise , a blow by blow accounting . : D

        • Graham

          2015: The Chastening of Slappy.

          • Missionary Kid

            I like that.

    • HillieOnTheBeach

      Indeed. Congratulations, Tony.

Said at the publisher’s weekly meeting after viewing pre-release book sales numbers:

“We’re going to need a bigger print.”

    • Draco

We are all still having fun with this one!

    • HTC

Was this the announcement that was due tomorrow at noon? A glorious announcement it is.

      • Baby

        Yep!

        • HTC

This is what happens when I decide to venture out and be productive…I miss the good stuff. I think it’s better that it came on Saturday instead of Monday – couldn’t stay up all night on a school night.

          • Baby

See you could have just phoned in productivity like I did and sat here all day..ha..

      • Bury_The_Nuts

And Tony totally blamed Tikk for goofing up his Monday announcement, but I am pretty sure the it was the cats who really did it.

This has little paw prints all over it.

    • Graham

Nothing to stop you repeating in on Monday at noon as planned? And belated congratulations Tony. I was out yesterday being treated to a birthday dinner and missed this exploding onto the “margins” of the internet.

      • Bury_The_Nuts

        Fringes, Graham….Fringes!
        😉

        • Graham

          Mea culpa!

          • Destructor of Worlds

      • aquaclara

Happy birthday! Hope this is a great year for you!

        • Graham

Thank you. I don’t see how this could fail to be a great year for all us $camatology watchers!

        Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday Graham! I had my 70th several days ago. What a hell of a month this year to have one’s birthday!

        • Dee Findlay-DeElizabethan

Happy belated birthday wishes for you M Kid. You’re up in my decade now and it will be great!

          • Missionary Kid

Thanks. I’ve been vague about the exact date. I’m happy to join you.

        • Happy Belated Birthday MK!!

          • Missionary Kid

Thanks. You’ve been an inspiration to us all. I didn’t mean to take away from Graham’s birthday, because this news is such a great birthday present for him.

            • Well it’s a great belated birthday present for you too! I’m sure Graham doesn’t mind sharing! 🙂

            • Missionary Kid

              I agree!

            • Graham

Not at all! Us 70-plusers must stick together!

        • Eclipse-girl

          Happy Belated Birthday.

And many happy returns for the both of you.

          • Missionary Kid

Thank you. To have such good news in time for Graham’s birthday has to be memorable for him. So far, for the most part, the news this year has been fantastic.

    • Baby

          • shasha40

It’s way too much fun and we want to witness tiny dick’s eventual demise . Tick, tock , Davey !

        • Draco

          Me too.

          • shasha40

Forget it CoS, we like our addiction , it actually helps our fellow man . No need for your services ! : D

      • Chee Chalker

I like this! It sums up my house perfectly…..

    • Miss Cabbage

I believe most of us are still reeling from yesterday’s news of your book.
Thank you for your work and determination.
Also- Kudos to your commenters! They are awesome! Those of us who do not know of the extent of this loathsome cult are being educated by them. They are appreciated!

    • madame duran

And don’t forget to resume the remaining countdown (to “Going Clear” world premiere at Sundance)!

    • shasha40

I know you’re modest , Tony , but I just want you to know I Love you for all you do !

  • Uh, one would have been enough, but I like variety (and perhaps redundancy?) Two haiku for Tony’s book and I’ll post the links in case anyone wants to retweet, copy them, etc 🙂 And Good Morning y’all!!

      Ab fab, Tia!

  • Steph

I absolutely cannot wait to read this book and share it with others !
My wish for you, Tony, is to be able to invite John P. for a ride in your own private jet some day and to fly in your own helicopter over the next IAS event.

    • chukicita

Hoping this book starts the next avalanche of folks waking up and doing something about it – so that there may never be another IAS event.

      • Steph

I like that even better ! Maybe he can fly his helicopter over the courthouse while Tiny Dick is being deposed, or convicted, or perp walked……….one can dream !

        • shasha40

          I love that dream ! 🙂

        • chukicita

And a new picket dance is born… the perp walk!

          • Missionary Kid

I join Shasha40 and share that dream.

    • Baby

OOPS sorry you guys.. 2? sigh..it is time for bed..xo this time I mean it..

      • Missionary Kid

The theme song from Cops is what that double post reminded me of. I’d love to see some cop telling DM to turn around so he could slap the cuffs on.

        Bad boys, bad boys,
        What ya gonna do?
        What ya gonna do?
        When they come for you?

        • Missionary Kid

Sorry, made some mistakes, had to edit to fix them.

          • Stacy

Ok, I feel like I went to sleep last night and woke up this morning in a slightly alternate universe. No Sunday Funnies have been posted. Baby isn’t Baby McGee any more, but Smoking Baby again. What have I missed MK?

ETA: Never mind. I found Tony’s post.

      • Douglas D. Douglas

        YOU.
        STAYED.
        UP?

And I went to bed thinking the baby was peacefully sleeping.

        • Baby

Well..my Goodness Mr. Douglas.. I did not know that you went to bed thinking about me?

I am all a Twitter.. Pass the smelling salts please..

  • Jack99

    Newsflash!
David Miscavige’s autobiography is also out in May!
    Title: The Ungrokkable Miss Cavige

    Don’t confuse the two books.

    • Draco

His book will be very short, Just one paragraph:
      I came, I saw. I slapped, kicked and screamed, I left alone…

      • Missionary Kid

I would add, “…and Bubba is a wonderful cellmate.”

        • Draco

          Or “…INSCISQ”

          • Missionary Kid

I’m a little slow on the uptake this morning. Please decode. 😀

            • Draco

              “I now s**k c**k in San Quentin”

            • Missionary Kid

Love it. I hope it comes true.

          • Rita Gregory

            Bawahahahahahahaha!

      • Douglas D. Douglas

        Very… short?

I saw what you did there.

    • chukicita

    What did I miss?

    • Missionary Kid

The big announcement for Monday was discovered by some Bunker denizens when our faithful webmaster accidentally posted a part of the surprise in an obscure part of this blog. That forced Tony to make the announcement early. (correct me if I’m wrong)

The party started immediately, and it’s continued ever since. The book isn’t due for release for months, but there’s already discussions here about who will play Paulette Cooper Noble in the movie version of the story. We can dream, can’t we?

There are several things that will get multiple people making multiple OT comments here that add to a huge number of comments: food, movies, a troll, books (especially LRH fiction), and a chance to party at good news. This is one of the latter.

      • MaxSpaceman

“… accidentally posted a part of the surprise in an obscure part of this blog.”

For the record, rather than an obscure placement, it was the header picture, at the top of the page, for the “read more”-type link the takes the reader from Home page to the full story page. On that full story page, there was, at the top, a small-ish pic of the book.

With all of the odd stuff that happens on Tony O’s comment board using Disqus, no one thought that it was a mistake, at first. It was just something amazing to see. Stunning. People went into a frenzy.

Then, it became evident there was a programming snafu, while laying out auto-posts for the coming week, the programmer made an error, and the link they were working on did not make it to Jan 12, it posted right then, instead. That was the cat out of the bag.

        • Missionary Kid

Thanks for the correction. I knew someone would set the record straight.

Of course, once that was discovered, the Bunker crew discovered other places it was written about in publishing circles.

          • Robert Eckert

I believe it only started to be written about on the other sites in response to the frenzy here. Obviously a lot of people monitor the Bunker.

            • Missionary Kid

Someone discovered http://www.petersfraserdunlop.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/New-York-Sept-2014.pdf and directed us to page 31. That was published in 2014, and nobody caught it until the accidental release of the book in the heading set loose the bunker spies.

            • Robert Eckert

Ah, I haven’t seen everything. I think I only have about 800 comments to read before I’m all caught up.

            • Missionary Kid

That was not in this post, but in the replies to the early post Saturday about Jon Atack’s comment about meditation.

            • Robert Eckert

You mean I have to catch up on posts on both threads? I’ll never make it!

            • Draco

I know the feeling! I’m just going up and down today’s comments trying to keep up!

            • Missionary Kid

All evidence of this leak and been deleted.

          • MaxSpaceman

They decided to delete the leak. So certain comments were removed, yes.

      • NOLAGirl

Have any trolls shown up or is OSA too afraid to let any minions see this announcement? 🙂

        • Eclipse-girl

          I haven’t seen any.

        • Draco

I haven’t seen any, but I don’t think I have managed to get through all 1500+ comments, dispite being glued to my laptop for nearly 9 hours!

        • Missionary Kid

If today is troll-proof, I’ll be happy.

      • Keeping Scientology Waning

As a person who is usually the absolute last to know everything…..I was particularly thrilled to be there when it happened. Whoooooppppeeeee. Of course everyone in the IHOP thought I must have won the lottery or something.

        • Missionary Kid

It sure is electrifying, isn’t it? The Bunker addiction takes over, even in public places.

  • aquaclara

Is there a word to top BAMuary? Never thought this year would kick off with this much excitement, news and big stories…..and we are less than two weeks into the year.

Wow. I hope we can order our books soon. Envisioning the book club blogging live here on Day 1. Gotta get those calendars clear….

Then book tours. Interviews. Signings. Bunker, we will be busy.

    • chukicita

      This just became Wham-bam-Thank-you-Ma’amuary!

      • shasha40

That’ ll definetely work . Love it !

      • Stacy

I’m not so sure about the “Ma’amuary” part. It sounds like something to do with boobs or mammograms. 😉

      • As a Bowie fan, I love this!! 🙂

        • HillieOnTheBeach

I was tempted to post that it was a lyric to “Suffergette City” but figured people wouldn’t get it. I see you would’ve. 🙂

          • I think it downright frightens me that some people would NOT know that’s a Bowie lyric! Of course I think Bowie’s bday should be a global holiday, so I might be a rather extreme Bowie fan 🙂

            • chukicita

              i met him once. 😀
not only a fine musician, but a very decent human being as well.

            • Fangirl SQUEAL!!!!!!!!!!

He has always seemed to be a decent person! Adds to his appeal!

            • Rita Gregory

              Squee!

            • TheHoleDoesNotExist

Remind me to tell you the tale about David Bowie – I wrote about it on the January 1 post.

        • chukicita
          • I could (and actually do some times) listen to him all day long! 🙂

            • Rita Gregory

I got to see him live in the late 70’s! He was awesome!

            • I saw the Serious Moonlight tour! Would have loved to have been old enough to see him live in the 70s!

            • Rita Gregory

Young Americans tour! I can’t remember if it was ’74 or ’75.

            • AWESOME!!

Oh Tony, you’ve made me weep. It’s long past time that Paulette Cooper got recognized for her courage.

  • Richard Grant

Top o’ the morning, Bunkeroos. For those who slept through Day 1 of the party, and those who may not scroll way, way down in the comment thread, one of the coolest things that happened overnight was that Paulette Cooper apparently signed up for a Disqus account *just* to post one comment on Tony’s site. Here it is:

Paulette Cooper Noble • 9 hours ago

Thank you all for your kind comments, which I have been reading. It’s so nice to be remembered. But the important thing is to remember to buy Tony’s book when it comes out. We owe it to him after all he has done for us. Regards,
    Paulette

  • shasha40

Oh the entheta ! Tony , you just made me year !!! We have been patiently waiting and it’ s finally here ! What a wayto start the new year ! I am ecstatic and telling my husband about it . * jumping up and down * Why is he looking at me as though I’ m a nut ??? : D

    • NOLAGirl

Just look back at him and say “You married me” 😀

      • shasha40

True that , he knew I was a but when he married me ! He isn’ t all there either if I do say so myself . Guess it’s that , birds of a feather thing ! hee hee

        • 1subgenius

“I still can’t forgive you for putting up with me.” (Mose Allison)

          • shasha40

Sounds exactly like something I’ d say , you know me 1sub ! Bahahahaha !

          • Missionary Kid

I love Mose. His one-time drummer, Teddy Jack Eddy, went on to another career as an actor. I love that piece of trivia.

            • 1subgenius

I have found nothing about that. The only thing I see is that that was a character played by Gary Busey.

            • Missionary Kid

Exactly. Busy had a 15 minute comedy show on a local OKC TV station. One day, Mose (who lives in the area) called him up and said he wanted to meet him. They ended up being friends and Gary toured with Mose for a while as his drummer, Teddy Jack Eddy.

Mose, at one time, played piano for Frank Sinatra. There used to be a picture of Mose in a suit at the piano accompanying Sinatra.

It was after that gig Busey hit Hollywood and did Big Wednesday and The Buddy Holley Story.

            • 1subgenius

I have found no evidence of any of that either.

            • Missionary Kid

I happened to hear him talking about Mose calling him up on an interview.

Here’s the part of him playing with Mose on his Wikipedia page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Busey#Early_career

            • 1subgenius

              More “J&Ding”?
I found no mention of Mose Allison in anything you cited.
You are, I believe confusing him with Leon Russell.

            • Missionary Kid

You are certainly right. Today must be my brain fart day. I’ll leave my mistaken comment, with an edit to point out my mistake. Thanks.

I love both Mose and Leon.

            • Missionary Kid

I may be misremembering his playing with Sinatra, but I believe that he worked for a while as a session musician, and the picture, as I remember it, was taken in the late 50s or very early 60s, when many wore a suit and tie.

            • 1subgenius

              You’re thinking of Leon Russell.

            • Missionary Kid

Brain fart. Thanks for keeping me straight.

            • 1subgenius

              “Exactly.”

Weird thing to say when I’m disputing your statement.

  • Flora Kitty 37

I am looking forward to reading this.

  • Narapoid

Bamuary, baby! This is great news Tony! I will get to my bookstore to order and to make them aware enough to put it on their shelf. This is a great time to launch with the documentaries in place.

When it is made into a movie, they will need a very attractive woman to play Paulette. All the power to ya Ms Paulette!

  • 1subgenius

Hey Tony, I want my copy inscribed/autographed.
    Here’s my usual request:
“I couldn’t have done it without you.”
I’m sure that will be no problem.
(Believe it or not I actually got an Academy Award winner to do this, but then he’s my neighbor. And yeah, it’s ungrammatical, but hey, he’s a musician.)

    • shasha40

I wonder if we can get autographed copies , I’ d apt extra for it as would my fellow Bunkerittes . Get that signing hand ready, Tony !

      • Missionary Kid

I contacted Tony about setting up a way for us to get signed copies. Basically, he said that the release is months away, and to have patience.

        • shasha40

Doesn’ t he know how hard it is ? * sigh * OK, I guess we’ll have to be patient . I’ m just a little giddy now , best high ever ! : D

          • Missionary Kid

We’re all jonesing for Tony’s writing and for the personal contact. We’re worse than a heroin addict whose dealer is late on their delivery. 😀

            • shasha40

I know , I was freaking out this morning when I saw the post thinking , ” it’s not Monday ,yet ! ” I have all the important dates on my calendar . Sad , isn’ t it . So glad for my fellow Bunker addicts . 🙂

        • shasha40

          Thank myou, MK !

    • L. Wrong Hubturd

Wow, this guy is super talented. I’m digging how eclectic his two albums are…Latin, jazz, rock, classical elements, never sounding forced together. Buying them for sure. Tell him “Thanks” for me.

      • 1subgenius

        Glad you checked him out.
Yeah, actually surprising to me that he’s involved with hip-hop. He’s a musicians’ musician. Often a bit too deep for me.
Did you see where he was in Was (Not Was)? That’s really where I became familiar with him and what I still associate him with.
Real nice modest guy too. Just lives a few blocks over from me.
There he’s known as Olivia’s dad, not an Oscar winner. I would guess most of his neighbors don’t even know.
I will pass on your thanks.

        • L. Wrong Hubturd

Cool. Tell him I tried to buy both of his CDs, but they are difficult to find for sale and any place that did have them listed, showed out of stock. No luck on Amazon, Tower records, Barnes and Noble, CDUniverse, or any used places. I refuse to download MP3s. I want the real deal product in my hand, ya know?

          • 1subgenius

Yeah, the autograph is on a vinyl album. Sweet.

    • Eivol Ekdal

      Why?

      • Shelly Britt Corrias

I forgot to say “f5” or refresh.

    • madame duran

Scientology is regarded as a hate group by the folks who compile @religionnews…and rightfully so. The #terrorism hashtag is not an overstatement.

    • Juicer77

Kudos to this. Call it like it is.

  • Dr_Orpheus

Have any trolls showed up on this thread trying to dead agent Paulette Cooper? I’ve seen some on other forums try to mention her crimes and rapidly shut up when shown evidence that their church framed her. Some of them probably knew about the frame job already but were hoping the foolish wogs wouldn’t know anything about that embarrassing topic.

    • Douglas D. Douglas

You have got to be kidding me. Trying to Dead Agent Paulette Cooper in 2015?

Talk about being stuck in the Time Track.

      • Dr_Orpheus

This is Scientology we’re talking about here. Hubris was always right, so what worked in 1975 will obviously work in 2015.

    • Or (just possibly) have been told of her ‘crimes’ at the org as a countermeasure, and are now getting a rude awakening online. I do hope some of them investigate further.

  • Can’t wait to get this book. Well done Tony!!

  • NOLAGirl

Morning Bunker, I picked up doughnuts and coffee because I knew everyone would still be in dissemination mode. 🙂

I already have a list of nearly 10 people (and still adding names) I am buying this book for, including myself, and I’ll be out and about tomorrow so I’ll be stopping into our local bookstores and making sure they know it’s coming that way they’ll be sure to stock it too.

Ahh Wee Dave, you wish you had a book dissemination staff like this one. *shoots two middle fingers* 🙂

    • Eclipse-girl

      not beingets?

      • NOLAGirl

Not this morning love, but I promise the doughnuts are of equally high quality. ; )

        • MrsLurksALot

You are a dear, I love doughnuts. Now, is that chicory coffee?

          • NOLAGirl

I brought both hon, help yourself. 🙂

    • Draco

And every single book bought will be WANTED by the buyer, unlike the Lron shit that gets shoved down people’s throats in order to get good numbers.

      • NOLAGirl

My boss sent me a text last night to ask me if I’d seen the news. LOL I am the one who introduced him to Tonys site. 😀

  • BosonStark

For the public, Paulette’s story, now written about by Tony, has the power to define Scientology for the public in a way no book on Scientology has. Scientology’s complexity and floating definition (simple tools, self-help, a science, a religion, all the answers, social betterment, a club for celebrities) is something which has allowed it to go along doing what it does and getting by on, “well, if Tom Cruise is one it can’t be all that bad,” or “they are against drug use.”

While the stories of ex-members are always very meaningful to critics and a segment of the population, the problem in those books having greater reach is that too many of the public think that cults are something which could never happen to them. They can’t relate to it and because Scientology isn’t flying airplanes into buildings or bombing anything, so they think they can be ignored or should be just left alone.

However, Paulette’s story is very easy to relate to, by anyone who was curious about something and wanted a journalist to investigate an organization which operates on secrets, deception, fraud and control, and is potentially dangerous, or is a trap. We want journalists to uncover secret things and expose them so they won’t be a danger to us or others and that’s what Paulette did. Without wanting to, Paulette became part of the story and it is a story which defines Scientology to its core and will shock the public, because of what Scientology did to her.

    • Lurkness

And how the Chult continues to do these evil things.

  • Snake Plissken

    This is excellent news Tony.

The Scientology Crime Syndicate’s terrorist activities against Paulette Cooper during their Operation Freakout is seriously underreported

  • Observer

I’ve been thinking about Operation Freakout since yesterday. On one hand you have Hubbard, who couldn’t open his rotten mouth without self-aggrandizing lies flying out, wreaking destruction on those who followed him, trying to ruin and possibly kill those he perceived as enemies.

On the other hand, Paulette Cooper, who suffered unimaginably as a child but grew up with grace and dignity, searching for and exposing the truth, only to be fair gamed literally almost to death by Hubbard.

Hubbard spent his last years horribly paranoid, living in a motor home, looking like an asylum inmate.

Paulette Cooper once again overcame extreme adversity, found true love, continues to grow in grace and dignity, and is just as beautiful now as she was when the chult was trying to destroy her.

99.9% of the time the old adage “you can’t tell a book by its cover” is true. This is one instance where it is not.

    refresh

    • Snake Plissken

Which one would you rather have babysit your children?

      • Draco

What amazes me is how many parents sent their pre-pubescent girls to live and work for this man. Even more outstanding is that they didn’t even know where he was located. They had no idea where their children were in the world.

    • Robert Eckert

Chinese proverb: “As you age, you get the face you deserve.”

      • Draco

        I like that 🙂

    • HTC

She is the epitome of a class act.

    • madame duran

To me, I see the comparison as an example of “you reap what you sow”. Hubbard sowed lies and consequently spent his whole life being afraid of the truth. Paulette Cooper championed the truth and is now reaping the rewards for faithfully sticking by it–the biggest rewards being that she helped to open so many people’s eyes and free their minds. Every “thank you” she receives is vindication. Take note Miscavige…you are on Hubbard’s path and you too will reap destruction.

      • shasha40

        Karma , baby ! Love it !

    • MaxSpaceman

I sent Paulette an extensive e-mail in 2012, while reading her book, “The Scandal of Scientology.”

“… I’ve read nearly all the books and Debbie Cook’s e-mail; Headley’s, Scobee’s, Armstrong’s- all terrifying in their revelation of actual Scn management at the highest levels. Reitman’s book was good, also.

“But yours- yours is the best. Yours is a scathing vivisection of Scientology and L. Ron Hubbard. You surgically dissect all aspects of the organization, it’s actions and behaviors. You show it’s inherent
pathology. It is relentless. And devastating. ( and I haven’t even finished it yet.)

“After reading so much else, I see how unbelievably brave you were in writing what you wrote, the way you wrote it. Your courage was gigantic. I read your story of what happened over the next 15 years or so, and felt such grief at what you were put through by Lafayette’s pathology and the organization’s criminal thuggery.

“I’d like to ask you a question, if I may…”

    • Stacy

Whoa! Weird. I knew it was going to be a pic of Paulette Cooper before I saw it. But still, when I saw it, for a moment I thought you had somehow found a pic of my mom, as she looked about 15-20 years ago. None of the other photos of Paulette that I’ve seen bear this resemblance to my mom, so it must be just a fluke. Still, very weird. Then, it’s been a weird day for me so far.

  • And I’m Cute, Too

Oh, so this is what you’ve been teasing us with, Tony…

This is beyond amazing. I’m thrilled that Paulette’s story will at last be told fully, and published far and wide. Oh, Miscavige has to be apoplectic by now. How I wish I could see that… though his treatment of any nearby staff might not be as fun to watch…

Congratulations, Tony! I hope your book will be a raging success. And I hope that 2015 gets even worse for the Cult than this.

  • What a wonderful book idea. Can’t wait to read it.

Thanks for posting her comment here.

    • Missionary Kid

Thanks for reposting this. When Tony loses it over a video, you know it’s good. The “parking place” comment is what got everyone laughing.

      • HTC

Hillie explained the parking comment to me, which made it all the more hysterical.

        • Missionary Kid

Thank goodness we don’t have to be OTs to understand that one.

    • i-Betty

I <3 Pan. Also, I am officially middle-aged and need to stop using <3 symbols.

What was the 'parking place' thing?

      • Lurkness

The ability to find open parking spaces is a “win”/success story that some of the great and powerful OT’s have written about in the scibot magazines.

        • i-Betty

Yes, I didn’t realise I’d not watched this masterpiece so I got the parking reference just now. This might be Pan’s magnum opus!

          • Stacy

Definitely her magnum opus! Until the next one. She continually outdoes herself, though I don’t know how. Just amazing, she is.

      • i-Betty

Oh! Heehee, I’ve just watched it and figured it out 😀

      • Draco

Oh no, Betty! I am well past middle aged and still use <3 – you still good for a few years more! 🙂

        • i-Betty

Phew, because I <3 you all.

          (That's going to piss off a few old-schoolers, but I <3 them, too) 😛

Where the hell is Norbie Cohl in the midst of all this SP winning? I guess s/he is just too shamed to admit that SPs write better books than Hubbard.

Pan hit something right on the head….how great would Nicole Kidman be as Paulette in the movie version? Now we need to think of the other players…..who could be the slimy guy who ‘befriends’ Paulette (but is actually a Co$ weasal). I’m thinking Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood, 12 Years A Slave, etc). He plays a great slimy evil guy….

    • Robert Eckert

“who could be the slimy guy who ‘befriends’ Paulette”? Tom Cruise, obviously!

You’ve got some very nasty cold weather going on in Michigan, I hear. My brother actually had to buy dog boots for his aged Black Lab. Between his age and the extreme cold, he was having a hard time walking around outside to do his business. Not too much snow though, so it could be worse, I guess. Hope you’re doing ok as the winter drags on.

        • Robert Eckert

I always feel close to suicidal for about four or five months out of the year when I’m living in Michigan. It’s no worse than usual.

          • Stacy

Vitamin D and sun lamps, please Robert. I hate to think of you so depressed up there. That’s why I asked. 🙁

            • Robert Eckert

Bright lights, check. Vitamins, check. Meditation, check.

            • Stacy

If there’s anything I can do, just ask. I know you’ve got to be close to the start of the new semester too, but if you can swing a vacation, I can put you up for a few days break in the Land of Sunshine. Just say the word.

            • i-Betty

              You’re lovely 🙂

            • Rita Gregory

I’ll second that sentiment! Lovely indeed.

            • Stacy

Thank you Rita. It’s sweet of you to say so. I don’t make such offers for the thanks. I just want to help.

            • Rita Gregory

It’s a good feeling to help. I know what you mean.

            • Stacy

Thank you Betty. What a sweet thing to say. That makes my (admittedly weird) day! Thank you!

            • Draco

              Why “weird day”? You ok?

            • Stacy

Lol, yes, but thank you for asking. I appreciate it.
When I woke up and got on the Bunker, there were no Sunday Funnies. And the party was still going strong from yesterday. I was still half asleep, and I started feeling like maybe I had slept through Sunday, or hadn’t actually slept through the night, or maybe I had my days mixed up and it wasn’t Sunday. Very surreal feeling. Then Obs posted a photo of Paulette that looked like my mom, so I had a moment of thinking, “how the hell did Obs get a pic of my mom?” So it’s just been one of those weird days so far. More entertaining than anything else. 🙂

            • Draco

Oh good! It’s good weird not bad or scary weird! I caught the start of it last night but then went to bed and woke up to over 1000 comments to try and catch up on. Been a busy day!

            • Stacy

              Very busy day!

            • Robert Eckert

Too late. Tuesday I start teaching diffequs.

            • Stacy

Shit! I wish I’d thought to offer earlier. Well, see how you’re doing as spring approaches. There’s always Spring Break.

            • Robert Eckert

I am certainly going to need a road trip when I can manage one, and touching base in so-called “real life” with on-line friends has often turned out to be fun.

            • Stacy

Just say the word, Robert. Open invite. Unless something in my life drastically changes, I have the room and the inclination; and I doubt anything in my life will change majorly. I like things the way they are.

            • i-Betty

I started taking Vitamin D 3 months ago, and I don’t know whether it is that, but my SAD has been much milder this year. I haven’t even had my lamp out.

          • Frodis73

I’m with you on that one Robert! Snow, cold and winter can take a flying leap! Fuck Ohio and Michigan!

            • hey today we’re suppose to get into the twenties (ABOVE zero) for a change!! 😀 the past few days of below zero though fucking sucked!!! my doggies did NOT wanna go out! I opened the back door and held open the screen door and got 2 doggies looking at me like ‘bitch, we ain’t going out there, it’s too cold!’

            • Draco

Yeah! How would you like to hang your naked butt out there!?

            • well fortunately for my neighbors i don’t hang my butt out anywhere! 😉

        • Douglas D. Douglas

It is raining here in Southern California. So, of course, everyone is in crisis mode.

          • Stacy

Hopefully not too heavy? I’d hate for Cali to experience more mudslides and damage.

          • TheHoleDoesNotExist

I remember rain in Southern California – it’s pretty much the same in Florida if we go a whole day without sunshine.

            • NOLAGirl

Same here. We’ve been through some of the worst storms in history and if we get a hard rain, people drive like they’re completely lost.

    • NOLAGirl

I was talking about this last night with NOLAHubby and Nicole Kidman was one of his suggestions for early Paulette and Blythe Danner to play later Paulette (if the book comes up to current time).

      • Stacy

Blythe Danner is a great suggestion for older Paulette.

        • They need an actress who is not actually crazy.

          • Rita Gregory

Oooooo, do tell. I know she raised that smug pile of goop but I had not heard Blythe was crazy…

            • In her most famous quote she admits how crazy she is – http://www.searchquotes.com/quotation/I_think_I_have_a_lot_of_crazy_layers./122785/ – and someone as sane as Paulette Cooper does not need to be played by a crazy person.

            • MaxSpaceman

              sounds down to earth here:

“Mostly, I spend my time being a mother to my two children, working in my organic garden, raising masses of sweet peas, being passionately involved in conservation, recycling and solar energy.”

            • Yeah, she’s a fucking genius. Don’t pay any attention to what she says about herself, her idiot daughter, or her grandkid, Apple.

          • Stacy

Is she? I know very little about BD’s personal life.

          • NOLAGirl

I’m with the others, I had no idea she was a loon. Well damn, I guess we can most certainly scratch that idea off.

  • Shamwari

Spectacular news! Congrats Tony. May it be a bestseller and a huge nail in the coffin of Co$! Eagerly awaiting the release of your book and the unfolding of 2015 with this wonderful community. My best to you all. Shamwari

  • aquaclara

Book Expo America, the largest book fair in the US is in NYC at the end of May. The world’s largest is in Frankfurt in October. But my sentimental favorite would have to be in St Pete, Florida, sponsored by the Tampa Bay Times (For more than 20 years running, The Festival of Reading, held October 25 last year).

Perhaps we will see a certain author and a certain book promoted in full force this year….I would be happy to help tote boxes of books, supply coffee and hand over sharpie markers if needed…..

Sheesh, I just hope no courtroom dates conflict with booksales dates….the calendar is going to look a bit crowded this year.

    • NOLAGirl

I won’t be able to be there physically to help with that Aqua, but if you need any financial help with it, hit me up on a past comment and I’ll pass on my email to you.

    • Draco

“Perhaps we will see a certain author and a certain book promoted in full force this year…”
That would be bloody marvelous! Right on their doorstep, sponsored by the newspaper they hate the most. With Tony doing a live reading. And Paulette on hand to co-sign the book! You could plan a whole SP party around the event!

      • Stacy

THAT would be so wonderful! Tony, any chance of this happening? You’ll get a lot of volunteers to help with set up.

    • HTC

I’m not too far from St. Pete, but since I’m not a coffee drinker, I’ll bring the vodka.

  • Frodis73

Attn Panopea Abrupta! I just saw that Paulette saw your video and commented on your youtube channel. Way cool!

    • MaxSpaceman

Thanks, Frodi- it’s cool to see her response!

  • TheHoleDoesNotExist

Jumping in very late. So what’s the story?

    • NOLAGirl

      Hehehehe!!

      • TheHoleDoesNotExist

No really, no Sunday Funnies – I got that the book will be out in May – but is there something else this morning?

        • NOLAGirl

Nope. Tony posted somewhere below that he was leaving this up for awhile for anyone who might not have seen it. I’m assuming Sunday Funnies are coming later.

          • TheHoleDoesNotExist

Oh thanks. Yeah, that’s a good idea.

Besides, what could possibly be funnier than David Miscavige opening up his daily report and seeing the news – and that book cover.

            • NOLAGirl

Because my little man will be in school I will be unable to attend the SP party but I’m looking into what NOLA treats travel the best and if you don’t mind I’d like to send some things along to contribute on the food end, if that’s ok with you? 🙂

            • Stacy

I’m planning on making some sort of chocolate extravaganza. I haven’t decided what yet, though.

            • Douglas D. Douglas

King cake? With a smoking baby hidden inside???

            • NOLAGirl

King Cakes actually ship pretty well…Hmmm, a smoking baby…that could be possible. I’ll have to check. 🙂

            • what’s a king cake? now i want cake! CAKE!!!

            • NOLAGirl

Traditional Mardi Gras-time dessert with a long history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_cake

            • oh that sounds delicious!!!

            • TheHoleDoesNotExist

You talking to me? If so – are you kidding? My hubby just started drooling.

            • NOLAGirl

Hehehe!! I am going to look into a few things and then I’ll get in touch with you. Tell Mr. Hole I promise to send the very best that will ship. 🙂

            • Shelly Britt Corrias

Well, if he does a “Scientology” search on Twitter he might shitter. At a glance I found a link to Tony’s book announcement hashtagged “terrorism” (posted below). And in Australia, $cn is now threatening legal action for being called a “cult”. lolol

            • madame duran

And in Australia, $cn is now threatening legal action for being called a “cult”.

O rly? Is there any news report about it? Got a web link to share?
What a bunch of cult crybabies.

            • Shelly Britt Corrias
            • madame duran

              Thanks for the link.

Note to the Scientology CULT: it isn’t defamatory if the claims are TRUE.

I was going to ask what definition of “cult” that the CoS holds but Virginia Stewart stepped up to the plate to answer.

A church spokeswoman, Virginia Stewart, said the church ”shares none of the characteristics of a cult”.

”We do not have a messianic leader, we do not predict the end of the world, our members are urged to think for themselves and are not subject to ‘coercive persuasion or mind control’. And we most certainly do not promote suicide or murder as solutions to human unhappiness. Quite the opposite,” she said.

So many lies in such a brief paragraph.

NO MESSIANIC LEADER…yet Hubbard is portrayed as the only person in all of humanity to have discovered the solution to its problems. Talk of a “new” civilization being ushered in.

NO END TIME PREDICTIONS…yet countless cult fliers are filled with alarmist warnings of “if we make it…” or “running out of time”, hinting that if Scientology doesn’t clear the planet, it would be a global catastrophe with no hope of escape.

MEMBERS ARE TO THINK FOR THEMSELVES…but once they begin to question current cult management, Hubbard’s policies or object to what they see as internal abuses, they are either threatened into silence or targeted for harassment.

NO ‘COERCIVE PERSUASION OR MIND CONTROL’…yet members are regularly forced to make a decision between choosing the cult or losing their family/job. Constant pressure to donate money, reveal secrets, deceive others for the “benefit” of the cult group.

NOT PROMOTING SUICIDE, MURDER AS SOLUTIONS TO HUMAN UNHAPPINESS…yet cult condoned its use in handling SPs (“May be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed”). Note also Hubbard’s recommendation of what to do with anyone below 1.1 on the Tone Scale (“dispose of quietly and without sorrow”), his R-45 policy, “end of cycle” orders.

            • Shelly Britt Corrias

Their lies are astounding, aren’t they? Your comment deserves to be on its own – I’m afraid it will be lost (buried) here and maybe others will want to see that article too?

    • Stacy

Same post as yesterday so all Bunkeroos get a chance to join in the celebration fun.

Pan made a new Hitler/ COB shoop video that is the ultimate in hilarious. You’ll find not to far down/ up from here.

That’s it I guess. I’m having a weird day, but I don’t think that counts as news. 😉

      • TheHoleDoesNotExist

tks. I have to find Pan’s video. They are nothing short of extraordinary.

        • Stacy

This one is the crème de la crème.

        • Stacy

HT and Jimmy3 have both reposted it. You’ll probably run across HT’s reposting first, if you’re set on “newest” posts first.

          • Stacy

Oops. HT should be HTC. For some reason this particular comment isn’t giving me an “edit” option.

      • stillgrace2

I think weird days are going around right now. I had one yesterday.

        • Stacy

As long as it’s just amusing weird, I guess it’s ok if we pass it along.

          • stillgrace2

My extended family members all have that bad flu and my elderly father is recovering (hopefully) from pneumonia. I have been cooking meals for twelve people for the last five days. That’s weird.

I can’t believe my mother (who grew up on a sheep ranch) used to cook the afternoon meals for 20 ranch hands plus her own large family when she was a teenager.
Excuse me, I have to go clean my stovetop now. I wish there was a robot for that.

            • Rita Gregory

Take care of yourself too. You can get pretty run down taking care of everyone else.

            • stillgrace2

              Good advice, Rita. Thank you.

            • Stacy

Sheesh! I can’t imagine cooking for 12 or 20! Holiday baking for that many is the extent of my experience cooking for such large numbers. That would definitely be weird and exhausting.
Just as soon as someone else feels better, they need to step in and give you a bit of a break. You deserve it! And I’m sending positive thoughts your way so that you don’t come down with the flu yourself.

            • stillgrace2

Thank you, Stacy. I wear a mask when I make my deliveries and I don’t hug or get near my loved ones. One bright spot: my beloved nephew arrived in town to help. He’s a joy and gives great hugs.

            • Stacy

Oh good. I’m glad to hear you have a healthy helper, and he’s someone you enjoy having around. That should make the chores a little less chore-like. 🙂

            • i-Betty

That must be exhausting! I know you do it because you love them, and someone has to, but you’re going to need a break yourself soon.

            • stillgrace2

Well, my brother did give me TWO bottles of Bailey’s for the holidays, one for Christmas, one for my birthday, so I do kinda owe him. LOL>

Here’s the kicker for the day. My Dad’s family doctor (for over thirty years) has been making HOUSE CALLS to treat my Dad’s pneumonia, so he doesn’t have to be in the hospital or travel. Even took X-rays. Now that’s a genuine blessing and I am deeply grateful.

            • Draco

Nice to know that there are still docs out there who do that:)

            • NOLAGirl

              ^^^^^

            • i-Betty

That is a REAL family doctor of the old school. I’m so pleased to hear you have his support. That’s made me a bit misty-eyed 🙂

    • Shelly Britt Corrias

      Go Packers?

      • TheHoleDoesNotExist

        bwahahaha.

  • Bob

Most book stores that still exist should set up a display with Tony’s book featured promently and then to the right side a Display of: A Piece of Blue Sky, Going Clear , Blown For Good, Inside Scientology, The Church of Fear, Beyond Belief and in the center Paulette Coopers The Scandal Of Scientology. That’s 8 books. Creating any infinity of hurt and truth for the cult called Lie-entology to deal with.
I think that Miscaviage needs to release his own book to counter this deadly octet. See picture. It will sell like wild fire with a boost from Tonies book.

  • Mark

Tony deserves a break 😉 (refresh):

    • Awww, so cute

    • Draco

      Love it.

    • i-Betty

      Aww 🙂

    • i-Betty

I kind of hope he and his family are celebrating the hell out of the news. Also, I think it’s really important for posterity that THIS blog entry has the highest number of comments by far.

It’s the news we’ve all hoped and waited for since the day each of us joined this community, both pre- and post-Bunker – because I’m certain Tony’s loyal Village Voice following asked him to write a full length book. As wonderful as our community here is, I never forget that there are those who have followed Tony for years since long before it was ‘sexy’.

Anyway, today of all days I think we comment away with gay abandon. Tomorrow we can return to sobriety 🙂

      • Eclipse-girl

I want the proof that this is the highest number of comments.
Granted this hasn’t been up for even 24 hrs so it may get that way.

But I remember the live blogging of a certain TX case.
Tony made it into a twofer for the day.

I believe the combined count for 24 hrs was over 3000 comments

But this is great news news and Tony and his household deserve a well earned break (but only for a few hours)

        • i-Betty

You’re right. The combined twofer was 3000+. Great memory!

          • Eclipse-girl

I was fairly new to the Bunker at that point.

What I did not realize is that prior to Leah remini’s leaving the church, comments here were often in the 300 to 500 range.

I was a part of the explosion of the Bunker.
1000 + comments is not longer rare.

      • Mark

I’m rather glad the announcement got out early—got a busy day tomorrow (dealing with officialdom, on a promise to return carnivorous plants I’ve been fostering over Xmas, &c.)

        • TheHoleDoesNotExist

          Wait – carnivorous plants?

          • Mark

A sundew and a pitcher-plant, both of which require copious quantities of rain-water (which I can supply thanks to my water-butt).

            • Draco

And it gets better – he said water-butt!

            • i-Betty

              Snort 😛

              Oh, do grow up!

              (Snicker!)

            • Draco

              Not today! <3

            • i-Betty

              ..

            • Mark

And now I shall say “aquatic posterior” as well. Put that in Mrs. Grundy’s unmentionables, Googlehearsayprudery!

            • Eclipse-girl

They need warmth and a humid environment.
You were a good person for taking care of these beauties.

            • Mark

They like it here in summer—lots more flies than they get at home!

            • TheHoleDoesNotExist

              water-butt? this is comical

            • i-Betty

It’s truly what we call them. And we’ve called them water-butts for so long that we’ve forgotten how funny it sounds!

            • TheHoleDoesNotExist

              What the heck is it?

            • Draco

              http://www.waterbuttsdirect.co.uk/

I have now found out there are many kinds of water-butts 🙂

            • i-Betty

We collect the rain that comes off the roof IN OUR BUTTS and use it to water our gardens. It’s all very ‘green’ 🙂

        • Draco

“carnivorous plants I’ve been fostering over Xmas”???
You are so weird! That’s a hoot. Were you trying to keep them forever that officialdom is after you? 😀

          • Mark

If only officialdom were that easy to deal with: the plants belong to a friend who was off visiting relatives over the holidays 🙂

    • Captain Howdy

Shar pei’s are tough. They were originally bred as guard dogs.

  • Jackie Brown

Fill me in, will you? What is Paulette Cooper doing these days? Still writing books?

  • stillgrace2

Lat night I dreamt that the Fed-Ex guy delivered my copy of “The Unbreakable Miss Lovely- How the Church of Scientology Tried to Destroy Paulette Cooper”! I am so disappointed (now that I am awake) that it was only a dream. However, I am reminding myself that I have something wonderful to look forward to in May, and it’s all good!

    • NOLAGirl

And only 14 days until Going Clear at Sundance! 🙂

      • stillgrace2

True, true! I’m feeling better already. I can’t wait to read what Tony has to say about it. And I only have to wait until March to see it for myself.

    • Draco

May 9th sounds like a good release date 😛

  • Bob

I was lucky enough to get a picture of Davey McRightious’s new book to be be released May 1st, May Day. I posted it 17 minutes ago. I can repost the picture if needed. He will have the last laugh on Tony.

    • i-Betty

Please do repost if you don’t mind 🙂

      • Bob

i-Betty. This is destined to be a best seller.

        • i-Betty

I love it! And I notice it is the 4th edition. I cannot wait for the 5th 😀

          • Bob

Notice it is for programming. Not deprogramming.

  • God bless Silvertail books and every author brave enough to go after the cult. After this one comes out, I hope it stands to shut up any stupid $cientologist whose eyes glaze over as they bliss out on the “good old days” when grand benevolent “Ron” was their big daddy. I hope it will finally convince them that he and his creep wife Mary Sue were both evil as the day is long.

    • Bob

Hitler was the savior to the German people. Mao was a god to the Chinese. Stalin was the people’s Hero. Hubbard was the master of the known universe and uber-OT to Scientologists.
Skip, stop trying to diss Ron. He is getting his place in history just the way he wanted it.

      • Last night I had a dream I was in a bar that was some kind of celebration of people who had gotten out of $cientology. One of them was my former roommate Carmine Terra, another was Wings Hauser (who was still crazy as hell), and another was John Segota, who was a $cientology goon enforcer pal of Dan Murnan (who tons of Bunkeroos have seen on video). I’m sure Hauser is out (he’s Cole Hauser’s father, former husband of Cass Warner) but he was only in $cientology to scam it, and he did so very well, marrying a rich $cientologist and getting his psycho acting career started via Milton Katselas. I have no idea about the others. I just think Tony’s book will be some mighty ammunition to any veteran of the cult who wants to hold onto the utterly stupid idea that there is anything valuable in it or that “Ron” was benevolent.

        • Bob

Yes, I knew those people. There are many other people you knew, too. Maybe your dream will come true.

        • TheHoleDoesNotExist

I totally forgot the Cass Warner connection. She was on the Freewinds on my one and only trip – and it was a trip. Her and all those you mentioned – another reminder of what a black hole all things scientological are – the immense wealth, talents – and even entire grand legacies – sucked down dry. Reminds me of the title of that German film, “Until Nothing Remains”. Scientology is a piranha pool of scams.

      • Techie

Mussolini was a very bad man but he got the trains to run on time.

        • Bob

That’s saying a lot for the Italians.

    • aegerprimo

I hope it will make them “…any stupid $cientologist whose eyes glaze over as they bliss out on the good old days…” realize that it was L Ron Hubbard who created the MONSTER called Scientology.

  • Douglas D. Douglas

Well, here’s a slightly used Sunday Funny. I posted this late a couple of days ago.

    (refresh)

    • Graham

Thanks for the re-post MK. I missed this the first time round.

      • TheHoleDoesNotExist

Did I hear it’s your birthday? Happy birthday, Graham. Hope you have a great day.

        • Graham

Thanks! Birthday was about a week ago, but partner and I both had horrible colds, so celebration was delayed until yesterday evening. We had a lovely meal in front of a log fire at a local pub/restaurant.

          • TheHoleDoesNotExist

            Sounds just right!

          • Captain Howdy

            Happy Belated Birthday

          • NOLAGirl

Happy belated birthday Graham. So happy to hear you’re both over your colds and had a good time. 🙂 Be sure to grab some caek.

          • i-Betty

Happy belated birthday for me, too, Graham! I’m glad you had what sounds like my perfect evening. Congratulations 🙂

    • TheHoleDoesNotExist

I love this – thanks for posting – I missed it. It’s, sniff, sniff, it’s beautiful, DDD. Maybe you can fix mine?

Anyone reading this who may be writing an article or blog post on this story, I’ve already got your title:

Go on now….spread the word. 🙂

Spot on – because it’s so true.

(I’ve always wanted to dress up as Natasha for Halloween)

        • Not the Fearless Leader I was looking for.

  • Any bets that Wikipedia editor Laval (or someone just like him) will resurface as soon as someone adds a mention of the book to Tony’s page there?

Geez, what a pontificating (and wrong) idiot:

Brilliant Tony and can’t wait to get these books in all of the libraries to join THE BASICS! I love the fact that you along with other authors and producers are exposing their crimes in a new unit of time.

They are doomed – the Cult of Scientology is going down!

  • HTC

Another trip to the gym thwarted because of loitering in the bunker. Next year my resolution will be to loiter in the bunker more so I won’t have to worry about breaking it.

    • Techie

HTC, if you have a tablet you can rest it on the book ledge of your treadmill and bunker away right in the gym. Or download some of Jeff Augustine’s excellent Surviving Scientology podcasts and put them on your iPod or portable media player of choice. Not too many Scientology critic books are available in Audible format but “Going Clear” by Lawrence Wright and Amy Scobee’s “Abuse at the Top” are. No excuses now, cardio and the Bunker are at least nominally compatible. I have to walk at least an hour a day for medical reasons so it is easy for me – just a tablet or Kindle precariously perched on my treadmill and I can get my daily fix of Bunker and Mike Rinder without turning into a dedicated couch potato at all. Once in a while I punch up Youtube on the 1080p HD surround 5.1 system I installed around my treadmill and listen to a bunch of Karen de la Carrierre or ToryMagoo44. It can be done!

      • HTC

Aw thanks for the tips Techie, but when I’m at the gym I like to run on the treadmill and crank up my favorite songs. When I’m at the bunker, in the afternoons anyway, I like a side of vodka and cigarettes.

        • Draco

          I think I loooove you!

          • HTC

which part Draco, the running to music, or vodka and smokes? lol

            • Draco

              The vodka and smokes 😛

            • HTC

In that case I love you too!

      • L. Wrong Hubturd

“Once in a while I punch up Youtube on the 1080p HD surround 5.1 system I installed around my treadmill”

Florida is too far, besides there is a whole nest of whacky folks that live down there. It’s a little cool here in the center of the country but as far from the coasts and their associated cray-cray as it is possible to get.

  • Elegant Mess

Just wandered back in to discover that the party is still going on. Is that Baby I see downthread? I swear I wished her a good night when she was supposed to be going to bed. Now I see she’s changed her avi back? What the heck did I miss?

    • Draco

Baby stayed up all night! Took up smoking again 😉

      • Elegant Mess

Wow. I feel like I was negligent in actually going to bed at a decent hour last night!

Anyone have breakfast pastries? I need some sugar to wade through these almost 1800 comments.

        • Sibs

Ooh, ooh, I had leftover brownies for breakfast! But now there’s only one left so I think I better leave it for somebody else…

          • Elegant Mess

I will totally take that extra brownie off your hands!

          • Jimmy3

Be a champion and finish that off!

          • Draco

            Special brownies?

          NolaGal had donuts down thread

    • Stacy

Welcome to a weird surreal Sunday. You literally said what I said when I got here this morning. As far as I can tell, Baby never got to bed last night. 🙂

    • Stacy

BTW, if you don’t change your avi, you’re going to wind up having a kitten-napper pay you a visit. You’ve been warned! 😉

      • Draco

Wait for me Stacy – I’ll join you in the great kitten-napper caper!

      • Elegant Mess

Heee hee! Nothing to nap here. Just a Google image of a kitten that looks eerily like my cat did a few years ago. If you want a 12 pound lazy grey tabby, I’ve got the perfect cat for you! 🙂

        Oh, I need coffee.

        • Stacy

Lol, I guess you’re safe then. I’ve already got an 11 lb. lazy tortie, so I’m good to go. 🙂

          • Draco

I’ve just been reminded by my cat that he’s being neglected by my total devotion to the Bunker today. Am now dabbing blood from the hole he made in my leg by a very precisely placed claw!

            • Stacy

That bad boy! Bribe him with some food and get back to the Bunker!

            • Draco

              Done.

        • Dolly Jones

I was so gonna nab that kitty, if you had not said that.. darn it. grrrr

I put up pic of my kitty other night but no one wanted to nab her as she was drunk. 🙁

I was so excited about Tony’s book I couldn’t sleep beside my husband’s snoring.. ugh So Just got up and bit the bullet.

The day when the media worldwide hounds Tom Cruise with questions Not about who he’s dating this week but who he is disconnecting from this week –

    • Ardent

      I’m licking my chops, Hole!

      • TheHoleDoesNotExist

The sad side of this is that someday his children are going to understand what we all understand now, and I can’t even imagine how hard it will be for them to realize what their dad supported all his life. Someday they will read Jenna Miscavige Hill’s book too and realize what innocent children went through all these decades. I just hope by then they will be open to therapy.

        • aegerprimo

They will read Marc Headley’s book and understand how Tom Cruise used Sea Org slave labor for his own personal gain.

          • TheHoleDoesNotExist

They are also going to understand why all their friends and others suddenly disappeared from their lives. One thing all the celebs have in common is that they have experienced hundreds of people over the decades suddenly declared or disappeared, even if they didn’t themselves disconnect from them.

Can you imagine hundreds of people suddenly disappearing from you life and not contacting them or not asking why or where they went? Neither can I. And the celebs are connected to the whales connected to the staff – Of course they know. Maybe not everything, but they know enough.

    • Juicer77

I hope he doesn’t try to weasel out of bearing any responsibility for the Co$ actions. He can claim ignorance all he wants, but he should have detached the Sea Argh lips from his buttocks and really looked at how they were living. He had these people work on his personal property without giving a damn how they were suffering. Too bad he can’t be indicted for inurement. If he’s still popular enough in Hollywood (a big IF) he may get a pass, but I suspect he will be held accountable for his “Big Being” status.
And, no, I don’t want Oprah to do an interview with him. She’s a very talented marketer and entertainer, but in no way a journalist or investigative reporter. Somebody with credentials needs to go after him.

    • TheHoleDoesNotExist

MK’s birthday too – still listing? bwahaha. Happy birthday, MK.

      • Missionary Kid

Thanks, THDN. It’s good to be on the right side of the dirt.

    • Graham

47? I know I only look 47 [ha!] but if you add 1 to MK’s 70 you’ll be nearer the mark.

      • Missionary Kid

OT Story that I’ve told before. Maybe not here.

For those of you too young to remember Jack Benny, three running jokes on both his radio and TV show were that he was a cheapskate (he was actually very generous) and that he was only 39 (every year, he he had another 39th birthday), and that he was a horrible violin player.

I happened to meet the retired principal of the Jack Benny Elementary school, which is in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which is where he’s from.

He said that Benny used to visit the elementary school, (the students, by the way, are known as the 39ers) and entertain the students and play his violin for them.

Benny had at least two antique violins, one of which was a Stradivarius, and the other nearly as valuable and of the same era. I don’t know which one he would play for them.

At one assembly, at the end of his performance, he took questions. The principal said that there was one little boy in the back of the auditorium that was jumping up and down, waving his arm and calling out, “Mr. Benny, Mr. Benny.”

Finally, Benny called on him, and the kid asked, “Did you buy that violin new?”

Benny cracked up and told the kid, “That’s a $50 joke.” He actually used it on his show.

  • Jimmy3

We should have a contest for the first to count the number of semi-colons in Tony’s book.

    • CoS will be first to find a typo, thus invalidating the entire book.

      • Juicer77

I will roll around laughing if Tony avoided any semicolons.

    • Captain Howdy

We should have a contest to win a signed edition by Tony and perhaps Paulette.
*Runner up will win a skype Ouija session with me.

      • aegerprimo

That would be a fun prize to win! ♥

        • L. Wrong Hubturd

It’s nothing but hearsay and degraded rumor mongering by a couple of merchants of chaos anyway.

  • Anna

When can we pre-order? My husband of 31 years will divorce me if I don’t shut up about it!! Tony thank you.

  • Sidney18511

Is there anyway to pre order Mr. O’s book?

    • TheHoleDoesNotExist

Tony commented yesterday that he will, of course, let us know if and when preordering is available.

  • Minion Gayle

    Woo-hoo!

Although, I could use it a little sooner. Like now. I’m stuck on bedrest with a broken leg and bored out of my mind after only a day and a half. Another eight weeks and I may be looking for ashtrays to yell at.

    • TheHoleDoesNotExist

Here ‘ya go – practice makes perfect!

      • Minion Gayle

LMAO!!! Thank you. I’d hate to do it wrong.

        • TheHoleDoesNotExist

Have the kids video it and send it over to us. That should kill an afternoon of lulz. At least you didn’t break a rib – cause then laughing is not such a good idea.

      • Draco

Haven’t seen this one before. Thanks for posting the crazy 🙂

      • Dolly Jones

Oh I remember seeing this when it was originally broadcast. Paul Mckenna was interesting person to do this… if anyone has seen his stage shows/programs on TV (stage hypnotist).

    • aegerprimo

Hanging out at the Bunker is good medicine, or at least a boredom killer.

      • Minion Gayle

That it is. But’s another thing that will happen mostly during school hours, because despite everyone else in the house having their own tablets, someone else always seems to have my iPad mini. Sitting at the desktop only works for so long.

        • L. Wrong Hubturd

You are unofficially in charge of the daily recap posts, since you’ll be here ALL DAY. THDNE, you are relieved of duty.

          • Draco

Recapping today’s posts should take care of a couple of hours!

          • Minion Gayle

You’ve obviously never seen what happens when I take meeting notes.

            • L. Wrong Hubturd

“This meeting of the Oversight Committee will come to order! Uh, I wrote up an agenda, but I forgot to bring it. Where did we leave off? Mr. Secretary, could you read back the minutes of the last meeting?”

“Minutes! I knew there was something I was supposed to be doing! OK, this time I’ll be sure to take minutes. Does anyone have a pen?”

“Excuse me, did you say the Oversight Committee? I think I’m in the wrong room.”

            • Missionary Kid

Been there, done that. I’m laughing out loud at how much I identify with that.

    • Spackle Motion

Netflix…..you can lose many days binge watching shows on Netflix.

      • Minion Gayle

LOL! Already there. But my five-year daughter keeps bringing me things and I have to pause quickly. I think I’m going to have to save all the things I’ve been mean to watch for school hours. 🙂

    • L. Wrong Hubturd

      Oh, no! What happened?

      • Minion Gayle

I’m an idiot. My five-year old was barreling out the backdoor Friday night to find her big sister and I was watching her to make sure she didn’t miss any steps. Promptly missing one myself. Came straight down on my right foot, on concrete. Fractured my fibula and dislocated my whatchamacallit. I now have a plate in ankle, a few screws (that hopefully aren’t as loose as the ones in my head,) and a lovely pair for crutches.

Oh, and two to eight weeks off of work. I think I can hear my boss hyperventilating from the next town over.

        • NOLAGirl

Ouch. Feel better soon MG. Sending you lots of hugs.

          • Minion Gayle

            Thanks!

        • Draco

Oh no! That sounds very painful. Hugs to you.

          • Minion Gayle

Thanks! The pain pills are helping with most of it, but karma is getting back big time for all those times I asked my little sister “Does it itch?” (knowing it didn’t until I asked) when she broke her leg as a kid.

            • Draco

              Heh heh

            • Missionary Kid

              Get well soon!

When I’ve done two-arm platelet donations (they used to use one arm to take the blood out and another to put it back in, sans platelets), as soon as the second needle went in and I couldn’t move my arms, my nose would start to itch.

        • L. Wrong Hubturd

Sounds like you really pulled it in. What are you going to do to make amends?

          • Minion Gayle

Feed chocolate syrup to my kid. ;- )

            • TheHoleDoesNotExist

Besides Bunker and books, the Travel Channel or any travellogues – you can take a vacation every single day!

        • Stacy

That’s pretty serious. let your boss hyperventilate away. Your leg and foot are more important. Take care of yourself. Wishing you a speedy recovery with lots of interesting entheta to keep you entertained.

          • Minion Gayle

My boss is very nice, but we just had someone retire and I’ve been doing her job and my job, as well as picking up some slack from the newer people.

Good thing I double checked the October reconciliations and took care of all the missing ones Friday.

            • TheHoleDoesNotExist

Then your boss will realize how valuable you are – maybe a raise when you get back. In the meantime, what others have said – follow your doctors instructions exactly – your boss gets paid to handle these kinds of situations – it’s his job, not yours – so if you’re feeling high anxiety about it –
tell him you’ll probably heal better and faster knowing that he has a plan so nothing disasterous happens while you’re gone. But getting back even one day too soon could jeopardize mom’s income and abilities for the rest of her life – nothing is that imortant:)

        • Sherbet

          Ouch! Poor Gayle!

    • Juicer77

Best wishes for a speedy recovery! Maybe take some (more) time to Red-X on Craigslist while you’re stuck in one place. At least it’s something to do. 🙂

      • Minion Gayle

That’s on my to do list.

    • Stacy

Sorry to hear about your broken leg Gayle. I hope you’re not bed-ridden for the whole eight weeks. I won’t blame you for the ashtrays if you are. On the other hand, you’ll get to spend a lot of time here at the Bunker! Yay!

      • Minion Gayle

Spending two weeks on mostly bed rest when I did IVF nearly drove me batty. If I have to spend eight weeks that way I will be climbing the walls, with my fingernails.

        • Draco

Just listen to what the doc says. You don’t want to cause permanent damage by being up and about too soon. That leg has to last the rest of your life. Get someone to bring work home for you. With the interwebz all sorts of work can now be done at home.

        • Stacy

Well, to save your sanity and your fingernails, let’s hope it’s not 8 weeks. And if it is, we’ll have to come up with a way to keep you entertained.

    • i-Betty

Poor you! I hope you mend very soon. 🙁

    • Eclipse-girl

Tell us when you need some help.

I have a puzzle website that I am addicted to. But you may hate puzzles.

Have people buy you books and magazines.
Get caught up on TV, watch the scientology videos that you have missed.
      Listen to Jeff Augustine’s podcasts.

Mr E found an Amazon Prime series – Mozart In The Jungle
      Its good.

        Puzzle website? Love puzzles

      • Minion Gayle

Ooh, Sudoku. Haven’t done that in a while.

        • Eclipse-girl

I liked this site because there are number puzzles of varying degrees of difficulty

It took me several months to learn various strategies for solving the harder puzzles.

    Tony congrats.
Big surprise here, doing Paulette. She’s kinda the first to expose the cult, did anyone take a bigger beating?
Have thought for awhile it’s too big a con to cover in one sitting, much better to break it apart. Like this.
My suggest for another angle is the magick, Crowley stuff the old poop ransacked for Scientology.
Man DM must be spinning with all the bad news piling up. And it’s only early into January. Bring it on.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Graham and Missionary Kid!
In Bunker style, we must have caek, so here is one with a shit-load of candles (47+70 = 100 and something).
    …….

    • Missionary Kid

I’m sure that Graham also appreciates the candles. I just turned 70 recently, I thought that (from another post) Graham is also over 70, so that means there should be at least a forest fire starting 140+ candles.

      • aegerprimo

I got that Graham turned 47. Maybe that was supposed to be 74. Or maybe this is his 47x bestest birthday ever!!!!! LOL.

        • Missionary Kid

He posted to add 1 to my 70.

  • nottrue

    Rare….

  • Jimmy3

    Let’s go Pack.

    • 1subgenius

      Yeah.
      BTW, I’ll buy Tony’s book, but I don’t think I’ll read it.
Let me know how it was.

      • Jimmy3

I was gonna buy it and just ask the Bunker how it was. So I’ll let you know how it was they said it was.

        • 1subgenius

          Even better.
I’ll bet they’ll say it was great.
I’ll just imagine that and feel good about that now instead of waiting.

          • Draco

            What are you two drinking?

            • 1subgenius

I can’t speak for him, but currently my absolute favorite is cherry juice, vodka and tonic.

            • TheHoleDoesNotExist

I’m going for the strong, straight up stuff myself: black cherry concentrate over ice and a dash of cool filtered water.

              But cherry nonetheless. Interesting.
Mark my words cherry is the flavor of 2015.

            • Black cherry syrup from Switzerland rocks!

            • HTC

try vodka and fresca, it’s quite refreshing.

            • Jimmy3

Kahlua, coffee and crushed ibuprofen. In separate glasses, of course.

          • Sherbet

            Oh, you guys.

  • Mark

Thought of some more sequels Tony might like to consider… (refresh):

    • Jimmy3

The first one is impossible. Tony is not allowed to email him ever again.

      • Mark

Heresy, Jimmy! NOTHING is impossible for Tony! 😉

      • And he absolutely does not have their permission to write about them!

(Because that sort of threat worked so well for #KirbyDelauter…)

        • Jimmy3

It will make them something. Real something.

          • Mark

            Temporarily incontinent, one hopes…

            • Incontinent, Incoherent, and Insouciant!

              The Sea Org PR motto.

            • Techie

Revenimus, “We come back” except that obviously did not apply to Hubbard. Not only did he not come back to lead the Sea Org again, he never went back to any of the places he lived after being forced to flee by creditors etc. How about Daunted, Deflated and Destitiute?

            • TheHoleDoesNotExist

              bwaha

        • Sarah James

LOL, tommy davis, tommy davis, tommy davis… david miscavige…

      • TheHoleDoesNotExist

        and Karin smiling

      • That’s right. Tommy said so.

    • Draco

      Haha!

    • Eclipse-girl

This is slightly off topic —
When was the last time anyone saw Karin Pouw?

I want to see how she has aged (we all age)
The phot that Mark used had to be from a few years ago.

    • The Dude

Is that really her teeth? Or shooped? Looks like Mr Ed.
      F5

      • Mark

Definitely shooped—the only other photo of her that appears to exist online comes from a 1970’s WISE brochure, where she’s acting the part of a barely-visible secretary—so I added the fangs from some grinning trollop of a model 😉

    • beauty for ashes

Mark, I’m dying over Tommy Davis face! Of all the faces Tommy has made, this seems to capture him the best!

    • aquaclara

oh you win. I want these on my shelf. LOLing til it hurts.

  • Stacy

How might Tony’s book announcement be affecting various scientologists? Hhmm…

    • Sarah James

I suspect a whole lot of slapping and yelling in the kingdom Miscavige.

      • Stacy

Me too. I’m waiting for an Obs shoop. Should be great.

        • shasha40

          Tritto !

          • TheHoleDoesNotExist

            eleventybillionx

            • shasha40

              x 47 !

    • Draco

      Love the miscavige one!

      • Stacy

I struggled with that one. Had to fall back on the CICS and YSCOHB. Scientologese doesn’t come naturally to me, so I can’t do a good job imitating DM.

        • shasha40

Damn , I’ be been here too long , as a never -in apparently I comprehend Miscabullshit’s acronyms !: D

        • Draco

That’s ok – he has a limited vocabulary anyway. You got his favourites down pat!

        • aegerprimo

CICS and YSCOHB are DMese, not Scientologese. LOL.

CICS = Counter Intentioned Cock Sucker
YSCOHB = You Suck Cock On Hollywood Boulevard.

History of these is from text messages from DM to Mike Rinder and Tommy Davis.
MONIQUE RATHBUN FILES FOR SANCTIONS, SUBMITS SCIENTOLOGY LEADER’S FOUL-MOUTHED TEXTS
          http://tonyortega.org/2014/01/04/monique-rathbun-files-for-sanctions-submits-scientology-leaders-foul-mouthed-texts/

          • Stacy

Thanks aeger. I used those acronyms as the only ones I know really well. I couldn’t have pulled off anything else. Who would DM blame for Tony’s book? Who would he say pulled it in? I just can’t make that stuff come naturally to mind. So I’m limited to CICS and YSCOHB. :-/
By this time next year, maybe i’ll have the scientology patter down. Or maybe at this time next year, I won’t need to. That would be awesome.

    • Dolly Jones

Are you on twitter Stacey?… I want to “follow” you.. *grin* 🙂

      • Stacy

Lol, HELL NO, Dolly! Following me would result in a great, fat lot of nothing! As others have found to their boredom. 😉
I’m not a tweeter. Or a user of Facebook. Or many of the other social media sites. It’s not my thang.

        • Dolly Jones

Well darn, how else am I suppose to stalk, urm I mean follow u.. hehehehe. 😉 I wish the people on here stopped putting up kitty cats.. Just makes me wanna follow around. haha.

          • Stacy

Do you have kitties of your own right now? If yes, can you post some pics?

            • Dolly Jones

Oh yes I have a kittykat but she a bit ugly. Or so I tell her when she tries to trip me up on the stairs LOL. I think she is out to get me!! Her name is Henry. We thought she was a boy for the first 8 months. sigh.

Omg… never ask a cat owner for pictures eh.. haha… get carried away with three.

Edit: I totally apologise for how much space those three pics take up. eeeeek!

            • Dolly Jones

OH no.. I edited, and then they posted again.. so double.. how on earth do I delete. I so sorry 🙁 When you press edit it won’t let you delete photos? Also I didn’t put that many in. I put some in and they were too big so I deleted and put smaller ones in but when I went to edit all of sudden it was publishing both sets.

            • Dolly Jones

Just for the record I blame Stacy for this. 🙁

            • Baby

Duh? Of course I would blame Stacy..***** She pulled it in..***

            • Dolly Jones

I knew someone would see it my way.. hahah. 😉 (felt like it was spamming when all of those appeared. no idea how to delete)

            • Baby

Oh I did it today too.. Just how disqus works.. we all know.. ugh.. xo

            • Robert Eckert

Once you have posted an image, you cannot undo. You cannot really delete any post: it says you can “delete” but all that happens is that your name is deleted and the post becomes a “Guest” post– and then you can’t edit anymore. The closest you can come to deleting is to edit all the text down to a dot– but you cannot edit away pictures. In emergencies you can plead with Tony to use his magic powers.

            • Dolly Jones

Thanks for the info Robert. I’ll just have to be more careful in future eh. 😉

            • Stacy

Awww! Henry is beautiful! Adorable! And you said she’s ugly. I’m shocked at you Dolly, just shocked, I say! 😉
I love the pic of her with her one paw on the window. Like she’s saying, “Open this right now!”

            • Dolly Jones

Thanks Stace. Not quite as photogenic as your kitty. Henry grew into her looks as she got older. lol. hehehe. Black furred kitties don’t photograph well generally speaking And don’t be shocked…. She is trying to kill me on daily basis on stairs.. so spare no sympathy for her. 😉

            • Baby

Oh Dolly how absolutely adorable.. the one with Henry stretched out cracked me up..haha
              His eyes looked so pitiful..haha..

            • Dolly Jones

Hehe, Thanks Baby. She totally posing there.

  • NOLAGirl

The Scientology YouTube Twitter account just posted the new Co$ commercial and the tag on the video says (words in bold by me not the original poster):

“Watch this Scientology documentary-like commercial by the Church of Scientology answering the question ‘What is Scientology?'”

    Bahahaha!!

    • Draco

Hur hur…they will have to wait till May to find out “What is Scientology”

      • shasha40

I believe Bamuary has a great deal in store for anyone that is inquisitive regarding CoS . ( That is besides us out here on the fringes … )

      • NOLAGirl

They only have to wait until March.(Documentary in March, Book in May) 🙂

The gall to call that tripe commercial “documentary-like” in the face of Alex Gibney’s forthcoming film is so….Scientology. LOL

    • The Dude

Sounds like thinly veiled fear to me.

    • Observer

Oooo, does it include the Squirrel Busters’ “documentary” footage of them fair gaming the Rathbuns?

      • Missionary Kid

Thanks, i-Betty, I haven’t revealed the exact date of my birthday, but it’s in the last several days. I consider the announcement of Tony’s book to be a real birthday present.

    • Missionary Kid

      I’m laughing my ass off!

  • Congratulations Tony, really looking forward to reading the book.

    • TheHoleDoesNotExist

      These are amazing times.

  • AnonymousSP

Posting in epic thread. Thanks for writing this book Tony. Paulette Cooper: an hero.

  • The Dude

Day off and no new post. ;( I am sure Tony is busy. That explains why there are so many comments here. Happy B-Day MK!

    • L. Wrong Hubturd

What are you going to chef for us? It’s lunch time somewhere.

      • The Dude
        • TheHoleDoesNotExist

I so need to wire my kitchen for surround sound!

          • The Dude

Can you see the vid? It is not coming out on my end. Discus is slow with Viemo.

            • Captain Howdy

              Disqus is officially broke.

            • The Dude

It is there now. It took 33 min. to load onto this page. LOL

            • The Dude

Sick, weird side note on this video. I googled the guys in the band that were cooking. Turns out the drummer is doing 20 years in prison for molesting a 3 yr old girl. That means there was 3 convicted sex offenders in that video. Sick!

            • Eclipse-girl

              Really??

I like Cake. I never knew that was in there history.

            • The Dude

Love em. They dumped him obviously. Got a new drummer and tried to move on. I’m glad the scandal didn’t ruin the band.

            • The Dude

Me either. I was shocked. The band did a good job at distancing themselves from that one.
              “Going the Distance”. lol

          • NOLAGirl

Do eeet! It’s so much more fun when you have to be in there to have your favorite jamz with you. 🙂

    • Missionary Kid

Thank you. My birthday wasn’t today, but I consider this a birthday present.

For those of you reading it now, he decided that with the accidental early release of the info about the book that people who drop in for the Sunday Funnies might as well get the announcement.

He’s asked us to spread the word, and also said to have patience for any arrangements for signed copies, since the release of the book won’t be for months.

  • jane456

May is too far away….want book now!

Seriously, it is amazing what Ms. Cooper had to endure and that she survived. Thank goodness for us all that she did. It is fantastic that the whole world will know her story. Fantastic.

  • The Dude

Film week on the freewinds from Sec check…..

    • HillieOnTheBeach

That pic was taken 1/10th of a second after Nancy announced they were all invited to an Oprah-show taping. Y’all might might win a car or a trip, or something*.

*Minutes later, it dawned on them that whatever they’d win would make a beeline back to the cos. Harpo productions might have “no cash equivalent” rules, but this is the cos and this is Oprah; an understanding was reached.

    • ed inthehouse

And they note that in one of the photos is Chuck Norris’ son Michael. That’s disappointing. Would going on a Freewinds cruise be proof of one too many kicks to the head or what?

    • Stacy

Now we know why no one is ever seen at the Ideal Orgs; all scientologists have been on course on the Fleewinds!

  • stillgrace2

There are almost 2,000 comments and I’m having trouble loading all them to search for any comments Tony made today about the Sunday Funnies or anything. If someone could tell me if Tony was here today, I’d appreciate it.

    • Eclipse-girl

      Tony is taking a break.

I do not know if there will be funnies in later today or tomorrow

    • The Dude

      I was 2000. Ha ha!

    • Jimmy3

Basically he said he was leaving this post up for the people who missed it yesterday.

      • K2P2

I’m one who missed it yesterday. Was watching Patriots. Am delighted to get the big news today!

        • The Dude

          Go Pats!

        • Eclipse-girl

And I am watching Green Bay, today.

          • Jimmy3

If i root against “America’s Team” (Cowboys), does that mean I hate America?

            • Sarah James

Only to Cowboy fans, so I feel your safe.

            • The Dude

And they are one loco bunch.

            • Captain Howdy

Dallas hasn’t been “America’s Team” for a while now. Wisconsin is more of a bastion of wingnut whiteness than Texas with it’s Latino population.

            • Eclipse-girl

We deserve to be considered America’s team because the team is publicly owned and is an actual non profit.

The Packers will never leave Green Bay.

The team has always been supported. Even during our bad years the stadium was full, and the waiting list for season tickets existed.

            • Jimmy3

Touchdown but no Leap. That might cost them the game.

            • Eclipse-girl

              Its cold out there.
This one is a nail biter.

              Aaron is not 100%.

              Its hard to watch.
I am screaming in the living room.
I do not know if I will have a voice after this game.

            • Jimmy3

It’s never too cold at Lambeau. Quarless did the Leap. I really believe not doing the Leap is bad mojo.

            • Eclipse-girl

Actually it has been much colder until today. There is probably a 20º warm up.

Aaron would have liked it frosty cold.

You should try and jump at the low point of the wall.
Yeah, we have the lead agin.

            • Jimmy3

It was 23 degrees at kickoff. That’s like summer.

            • Jimmy3

Dez Bryant looks like he’s going to cry.

            • Eclipse-girl

              Yes, he did.

I think the call was correct. But it was painful for Dallas.
The first challenge by Mike McMarthy that he won this season.

            • Jimmy3

The ground definitely aided that catch, even if he mostly had control of it. But Cowboys fans will be bitching about that one for a long while, I assume. Lions fans will be laughing about it for just as long.

            • Eclipse-girl

Well that was how Mr E and I saw it.

But it is awfully hard to take a call like that.

I am NOT happy with switching up the officiating crew during the playoffs.

            • Jimmy3

Just to be clear, I think it was the right call. The ground can’t aid a catch.

And why not switch officiating crews? They play 4 games/weekend. They have to travel, eat and sleep like any other human. You want the same crew to ref every game?

            • Eclipse-girl

NO, I want the crews who have worked together all season to stay together.

They did a mixup of crews for the playoffs.

I agree it is not easy being an official.

            • Jimmy3

Oh. But the crews are never set in stone. They’ve all worked with each other in past seasons.

            • Missionary Kid

They lucked out last week. This week, their luck failed them.

            • Jimmy3

There’s still a hole in the roof at Cowboys Stadium so God can watch his favorite team. Only now it’s named AT&T Stadium and the roof is retractable. There’s nothing more American than that.

            • The Dude

              That’s funny.

            • Missionary Kid

No, it means that America hates them for trying claim the whole country.

That’s terrific, Howdy. I haven’t seen that in ages. The message, yup, I get it. I think I’ll go off and read a book or something. Yeah, a book.

“I GROCK SPOCK.” I love it. I used to work with a kid(rabid sci-fi fan) that would make his own t-shirts like that with iron-on fuzzy letters just like that! Hillarious!

Did you see the guy who leaped over the lines and then leaped to block the kick yesterday?

Never saw anything like that.He did it like 3 times in a row.
        Who was that?

I haven’t seen any. And that means the Devil’s Workshop known as my brain goes into overdrive:

He’s grumpy. Honestly, if it were me, and I’d been planning this announcement for ages and there was an accidental release, I might just throw my hands up and say (in my best Cartman voice) “screw you guys, I’m goin’ home.” Well, for at least a day.

Or he met a nice lady at a soirée and woke up in her fabulous penthouse and they ate fresh strawberries flown in from New Zealand out of each others belly buttons.

Or he went to a party on a yacht and they had engine trouble and are drinking stale champagne and eating Twix bars as they’re being towed back to Manhattan.

Or OSA has him tied up in a plain white van heading down the Jersey turnpike, with Miscavige watching on a monitor at Int Base, stroking a hairless cat.

      Or . . .

I can do this all day.
