COMING IN MAY: A book about Scientology’s most infamous campaign of terror

UnbreakableCover

London-based Silvertail Books is to publish The Unbreakable Miss Lovely by Tony Ortega, the story of the life of author Paulette Cooper, the most famous victim of the Church of Scientology’s notorious and ruthless ‘Fair Game’ retaliation schemes.

Ortega, the former editor-in-chief of The Village Voice, spent two years working with Cooper, interviewing her and reviewing her personal papers, as well as interviewing dozens of people, many of whom have never spoken publicly before, in order to piece together this stunning account of what it can cost someone to unearth Scientology’s secrets.

His sources include witnesses to Cooper’s harassment and, in a few cases, people who took part in it. Those interviews, as well as documents which have never been previously made public, provide the first full telling of what Paulette Cooper experienced — from her childhood in a Nazi concentration camp, to her life as a New York magazine writer, to becoming the most famous target of Scientology’s revenge.

London-based Silvertail Books previously published BBC journalist John Sweeney’s book, The Church of Fear: Inside the Weird World of Scientology, and last year brought Russell Miller’s landmark biography of Scientology’s founder, Bare-Faced Messiah: The True Story of L. Ron Hubbard, back into print for the first time in 27 years.

Silvertail publisher Humfrey Hunter said: “A lot of people have been waiting a long time for Tony Ortega to write a book about Scientology and The Unbreakable Miss Lovely will not disappoint. It is an extraordinary story of terrible things done to a woman who did not deserve them and shines a light into the darkest corner of the history of the Church of Scientology. Tony has done a wonderful job with the narrative – the story reads like a thriller. This is an outstanding work of investigative authorship by a very fine journalist and I’m delighted Silvertail is to be his publisher.”

Tony Ortega has written about Scientology as a journalist for nearly 20 years, and began working with Paulette Cooper about her life story while he was still at the Voice. Ortega appears in Alex Gibney’s HBO-produced documentary about Scientology, Going Clear, which premieres at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah on January 25, and he will be in attendance.

Silvertail bought world rights directly from the author and will publish in paperback and ebook in May 2015 in the US and the UK.

Jon_AtackHistorian Jon Atack on The Unbreakable Miss Lovely

In the late 1960s, an ambitious young journalist had a bizarre encounter with a Scientologist, who claimed to be God and then tried to sexually assault her. Her curiosity was aroused. She was eager for unusual stories, and soon became an expert on the strange cult of Scientology. Paulette Cooper was a vivacious go-getter. She was also a Holocaust baby, who had survived against all odds and been adopted by an American couple. She went on to publish one of the most important accounts in the field – The Scandal of Scientology.

Paulette and I have been friends for many years, drawn together by our mutual experience of the vindictive nature of the Scientology “church.” I survived 16 years of harassment, but horrifying though my experiences were, they pale in comparison to the onslaught that Paulette survived.

Tony Ortega is the worthy successor of Paulette Cooper’s hard-hitting investigation of the cult. I have worked with perhaps 200 journalists in the last 30 years. A very few have proved to be resilient, despite the cult’s invidious practices. No one has done better work than Tony. Anyone who has told the truth about Scientology knows that there is little in the way of glory to be had, and no financial benefit. We stand up, because we are appalled at the abuses of this enslaving cult. Tony’s tenacity is a marvel.

Under the direction of its malignant creator, L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology developed an intelligence agency second only to the infamous KGB in its infiltration of western government agencies. The Guardian’s Office was a formidable and fanatical organization, which campaigned relentlessly to protect Hubbard from prosecution and successfully dissuaded or ruined most of Scientology’s critics. Paulette Cooper was a prime target. She was preyed upon by agents, who inserted themselves into her private life and referred to her as “Miss Lovely” in their reports. She was framed for a bomb threat and indicted. She was subjected to a whispering campaign, where her neighbours were assured she was a child molester. The attack was relentless and very nearly caused her to take her own life.

Tony Ortega tells the story of this remarkable woman and of the invidious organization that tried to destroy her. He tells the story of the Guardian’s Office, an intelligence organization that penetrated the US government and was able to subvert US policy to the extent that Scientology was ultimately granted religious status and tax-exemption.

Eleven Scientology officials, including Hubbard’s wife, were given prison sentences in a campaign that had included kidnapping, false imprisonment, breaking and entering, theft and the forgery of government credentials. Almost forty other Scientologists, including Hubbard, were named as co-conspirators in this case.

The details are worthy of John Le Carre, and Tony has created a page-turner that is packed with barely believable facts – all soundly based upon the admissions offered by the conspirators themselves in court proceedings. Tony fleshes out my own brief description, in Let’s sell these people A Piece of Blue Sky, with startling information. This book is a must read for anyone who is interested in this most fascinating of groups, or in the nature of intelligence agencies.

This a great reason to come out from lurking to log back in and say, Congratulations to Tony! Read every day and have been waiting for the big announcement. Tony, you did not disappoint. Focusing on Paulette Cooper is a brilliant way to tell the story of the real $cientology. Can’t wait until May. Thank you! You are the MAN!

Slightly off topic and yet tangential to some of the Tales of The Bunker: Taylor Negron has passed away at 57.

I have always loved his subtle and hilarious performances. He wasn’t afraid to be the memorable cameo or the second fiddle. Unless you’re in theater or films, you might not really notice that it’s the supporting cast that makes or breaks the whole film, show or play. He may have been the second fiddle in movies and TV, but as a stand-up, spoken word performer, he was stellar. Hearing his brilliant memoir of getting a monkey for christmas literally made my holidays this year. Butch Pansy and I listened to that piece in the car on the way home from SF to Sonoma late one night last month, and driving through the dark hills of marin, laughing and crying, fell in love with this guy. RIP, Taylor.

Now, how is he connected to our subterranean saga? He was one of Catherine Davis’ brood in the ’70s. I would have been fascinated to hear his run-ins with the cult when he was an up and coming young actor. We don’t have that information now, but we do have this beautiful tribute he wrote . . .

Thanks for alerting us to his passing, Artoo. I recall an episode of “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” (“Deck the Halls,” 1990) in which he played a pretentious Christmas tree boutique salesman… he was absolutely hilarious… completely stole the scene. RIP, Taylor.

I thought that was a goof. I added Dwindy Minisculiages to the DM list.

    • Eclipse-girl

      I know.
      Next week will be tough.

      • Zer0

Pack will be healthier by then, and I was more worried about the Cowboys than the Seahawks.

        • Eclipse-girl

          I can only hope.

    • Jimmy3

Packers/Pats was my prediction several weeks ago. I nailed Seahawks/Broncos last year at about mid-season. But I had the Broncos winning by 6. Woops.

      • Captain Howdy

Seahawks/Pats..I’ll take the Seahawks and give you 9.

        • Jimmy3

Patriots +9? I’ll take that all day. What are we wagering on?

          • Jimmy3

Err, +9 I guess. Math is hard.

          • Zer0

I’ll take that too! But it will be Packers in the Superbowl.

    • FromPolandWithLove

I wonder what Captain Mistravage is thinking of all this books, and movies and documentaries being made about the truth, the real truth about $cientology, not what they want us to believe but the real truth. I suspect they might want to come out with their own movie or documentary “what is scientology” that ought to be funny if they did.

    • Bob

Daveys book is coming out May Day. Very appropriate.

  • Sid

Maybe now Dan Sherman will get around to writing Ron’s biography. As LRH’s Official Biographer he sure has taken a long time. Well over 20 years. Not like there’s anything new LRH has done recently. He’s apparently still looking for Target 2.

    • The Dude

Love that store. There is one right up the street from me! Oh, you meant that target 2….lol

      • Sid

He may have stopped in there on his way out.

    • Stacy

Hasn’t CoS published an official biography of LRH? Isn’t there some enormous series they did all about the “glorious” life of Ron?

      • Sid

The Ron series is just a bunch of PR booklets on some of his most blatant brags. There hasn’t been an in-depth biography ‘book’ written.

        • Eclipse-girl

They can’t do an in-depth bio. There is too much know about Ron’s life that will contradict their lies.

          • Sid

In Scientology there are so many lies told they just don’t care as long as it follows the company line. The disconnect is huge. The book would be written for those still in, with the belief that those outside will eat it up and think he was all great. However,,,, it will never get written.

        • Stacy

Imagine a book full of blatant brags about LRH, written in Sherman’s particularly odiferous prose. Single- sentence paragraphs! Ugh! No thank you!
It is an interesting question, though. Why hasn’t it been written? Maybe they don’t want to face the worldwide ridicule they know will occur if they did so.

          • Dr_Orpheus

Sherman’s been working for more than 20 years on the biography of the Large One. I’m sure it will be published any day now.

His job title is official LRH biographer even if he seems to spend most of his time writing speeches for the Dictator of Mismanagement. .

This early release announcement of Tony’s book is going to totally mess up OSA’s plans for their big release that was going to coincide with and completely eclipse this news story. Their new cover for The Way To Happiness booklet was going to be huge. We might never have heard about Tony’s book.

In order to get out of Confusion, one has to find out where he is.

      • Mark

Ugh: all the horse-liniment in the world won’t hide those varicose veins and cankles. For God’s sake put a pair of lisle stockings on, woman!

        • aegerprimo

I noticed the ripples in her calves as well. Those are not varicose veins, I don’t think. When you get older, your skin gets thinner, and she has been fat, so her adipose tissue (fat layer under her skin) is making the ripple effect on her legs. If I had Kirstie’s body, I would wear pants. Just sayin’.

          • Mark

Well I’m certainly not risking looking at the backs of her knees to find out who’s right (shudders at the very thought, then remembers to pull support-hose up) 😉

            • aegerprimo

Women don’t wear panty hose anymore, and they wear spanx instead of girdles. It’s the 21st century and women wear thongs for panties (underpants) and men go commando (no underpants).

      • Mighty Korgo of Teegeeack

It really is hard to dissociate the look from the person. On the whole, I’d say she looks pretty good for a woman in her sixties. But there is not enough beer in the world for most male sexagenarians, and I am not just talking about denizens of the Bunker guys like me, to want to be in the same room as her for more than five minutes.

      • i’m scrolling down the comments, but yeah, i just said that above—without a photo of her to reference, that’s just a natural hand in that twit picture of hers! you can clearly see veins in this pix!

      • BlondesAreDumb

Too much Oiliness and multitude Purifications have aged her skin everywhere.

I adore that woman! And she’s got it right, bold color and short nails not long nails!

      • BFM

Now there is a real beauty, with class and a sense of fashion.

      • BlondesAreDumb

Beautiful role model with spirit, intelligence, sense of humor, and a big heart!

    • Juicer77

No way those are her hands. Those are the knuckles of a 20 year old

      • Zer0

        No way!

      • BFM

Exactly! Not her hands for sure unless they shooped is to such a degree it isn’t her hand anymore. Both cases prove the same point. This woman should come to terms with the fact that she is getting old and wrinkly. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but to be in such a permanent state of delusional denial is.

        • NOLAGirl

And if you can age gracefully with dignity and class, not letting a number drag you down, treating others with love, kindness and respect (and using a good moisturizer) you won’t look as rough as she does. So much of her ugly comes within.

          • BFM

You are so right NOLA! And this woman has so much ugly within her no amount of polishing will turn peoples perception.

            • NOLAGirl

A classy woman always makes sure that those around her are comfortable and feel at ease being themselves….I just don’t get that from her.

            • BFM

I have been around her on more than one occasion (not by choice), she has a permanent aura of frenzy around her.

Say what you want about Isaac Hayes or JT for example (they deserve their part of calling-out) but they did have something nice within them.

Isaac used to play the Piano in CC’s lobby at night for a small audience whenever he was there.

I have nothing nice to say about Kursty… really not 1 thing.

            • i’ve said before she looks better with a fuller face….she just looks gaunt now in the face….almost haunted….part of me feels bad for her because it’s obvious she’s unhappy with how she looks and she has looked so much younger than her age….of course the cult hasn’t helped with her mental demons at all and maybe slowly? that’s sinking in that they’ve never helped?

          • Barbara Angel

I said that a long time ago: Her face is a reflection of her thoughts, no happy person looks like that.

Well, just look at the belief organization of which she is a member … a match made on Marcab!

    • beauty for ashes

I swear Kirstie must have heard my advice to take a good pic of your hands. (point your fingertips up and hold your hand above your heart, et voila veininess subsides.) However, her hands do look a bit puffy and could also be filled with restalyne . And there is some weird blurriness only in specific places. My other question is, is her manicure done, or is she going to leave those two fingers the color of dental molding paste? And why does she so enamored of vicious evil looking nails?

      • the top of her hand looks like it got ‘erased’ or something in photoshop….i mean i know i have small hands and you can easily see my tendons but you can see nada….no veins, nada….not normal!

        • Sandy

Exactly. I am about her age. This hand is completely shooped

I am looking at my own hand. Please.

          • yeah, the looking at our own hands test doesn’t lie! 🙂

            • Sandy

              I have wrinkles & veins . Oofdah

            • i can see my tendons but i have always been able too….and my veins are the same–visible but not bulging….my hands haven’t changed really….and my hands are very dry right now….gotta slather on lotion tonight at bedtime!

wrinkles and veins show you have REAL hands! 🙂

I remember when I bought this album for the first time. Blaring it from the basement. My Mom was having a fun time with this song. Funny that my copy disappeared shortly after that. Bought it again and hid it from my Mom.

            Pass on the eye-bleach puhleaseee.

            • Barbara Angel

Wasn’t it posted on here somewhere, that his earlier followers used to follow his car and pick up his spit to keep it as a holy relic? Just wondering why he didn’t set up a kissing booth around that time. The devotees would have done anything to enrich his bank accounts. The kiss of death or disease by blubbard would have been popular.
Clothes pegs on noses strictly forbidden. Could even be enough to send you prematurely to Teegack?

            • BFM

“Wasn’t it posted on here somewhere, that his earlier followers used to follow his car and pick up his spit to keep it as a holy relic?”

Da fuck!? Really? Grosssssss!!! Double that eye bleach! Or make it a full gallon or so.

I am not sure what those early relic hunters will say to their heirs.

Here is the spit of the only hope of mankind? Priceless. No money left to inherit, just Tubbies spit to pass on.

            • Barbara Angel

BFM, Have you got something against tongue kissing blubbard or his spit?
Not good to be tooooooo fussy you know. He could have sent you prematurely to your next embodiment.

            • BFM

If he gave me some of his million’s and I was allowed to use a nose pincher and a mouth condom…. neh…. I would neverrrrrrr 🙂
Bring me my next embodiment, i’d rather die with dignity and fresh breath than with a stinky one with Tubbies saliva in my mouth.

            • Barbara Angel

Ditto, just the thought of puckering up with “it’ just making up that joke, nearly made me vomit. Just thinking tho’ he had a thing about smells and would probably have turned us down, for smelling clean. Hip-hip-Hooray. (see, the benefits of being clean are good)

            • Missionary Kid

No. That was speculation by his literary agent as an off hand comment about LRH chewing tobacco and spitting it out the window. He said (satirically) that LRH followers, if they knew about it, would find the spit and preserve it.

    • Ruby

This woman just wanna make me use all the potty words I know.

    • Barbara Angel

Well another answer to another question could be, what is Krusty having for dinner?
Which could be: ‘deep fried puppy’ as the local fried chicken joint, kicked her out for eating them totally out of chicken on a daily basis.

      • Deep fried on the oiliness table by staff.

        • Barbara Angel

Are you assuming she would share her deep fried puppy with anyone?

          • No she wouldn’t share, she would kick a kid or push a grandma over to get the last piece. Krusty Kow.

            • Barbara Angel

Hahahaha, loved the bit about kicking a kid or pushing a grandma over. Nice to see someone with a good sense of humour.
Buttttt you could only know those details if you were stalking her at the local fried chicken shop or animal shelter.

            • Aussies always have a good sense of humour. Its in the constitution.
They deport us to NZ if you don’t.

            • Barbara Angel

Hahahaha as long as its not Tasmania. Grew up with all those two headed jokes, took a long time to find someone who could explain it. I love our humour even if only ‘we’ get it. Same with American humour I guess.

    • aquaclara

Hi, there. It’s exciting, isn’t it? I have learned much today, though. Besides detecting shooping in Kirstie photos, I mean.

Paulette, along with her husband, has written a book about understanding what dogs say (she has a cat one, too), and one on her experience with Scientology. I would like to purchase this łast one, but my furry friend is insisting that the Dog-to-English guide is the only choice. He says there are many things I still need to learn! And here I thought I was doing pretty well.

      • BFM

Yeah, auquaclara. An amazing couple, Paulette and husband! She had done so much in her life, I admire her beyond any words.

The book “The Scandal of Scientology” by Paulette is a real good read. That lead to operation freak-out…. but I wasn’t aware she had written another book about her experiences…shees! I learn something everyday here! Gonna hunt that one down, got a title for me?

Ehm…. its important to take heed of the wishes of fury friends 🙂 Better to read that one first!

        • aquaclara

That’s the book! Scandal of Scientology. I couldn’t think of the title! Knew it was here somewhere….
          Thank you.

PS I think you and Woofy Clara are in cahoots on the doggy book choice. He is NOT, I assure you, suffering from any lack of attention, toys or puppy cookies! Despite what he might be telling you.

          • BFM

No I don’t think you furry friend would be lacking any of the things you mention — got to know you as a loving, caring person.
But maybe, when you learn the language of the Furry’s, they will be able to express just how much they appreciate and love you back! Now, wouldn’t that be nice 🙂

I went for Blue Furry Monster (little Man?) 😉 lol

8 .. I swear to God.. You are one of the most creative people I have yet to meet. All of your personalities are Cra Cra.. ( In a good way) Hi to Karen..

    • Mark

Hail, O enlightened one! I suppose nobody’s been able to halt the 36 hours so far (and counting) of gravel-voiced invective long enough to tell COB Captain Mr. Miscavige sir right away sir yessir not to go too close to his very large stack of folders, lest it topples and SQUASHES him?

    • beauty for ashes

How did he reach the top, with a ladder? Or does he use one of those cranes that they use to work on telephone poles?

    • Barbara Angel

Well said, but forgot the RPF and human trafficking. Oh well mistakes happen.

      • OTVIIIisGrrr8!

The RPF is a voluntary spiritual rehabilitation programme where SO members who are counter-intentioned to command intention are given a second chance. Of course, there is the RPF’s RPF, the so-called YSCOHB RPF.

As for your other gripe: What you call it human trafficking we call body routing.

        • Barbara Angel

Hahahaha you nailed it. Love, love, love it. Thanks for today’s biggest smile.

        • BFM

Hahaha, now that was funny :D!

    • Phil McKraken

The rate of contraction should be expressed as 1/47.

      • OTVIIIisGrrr8!

        You and your wog math!

        • Missionary Kid

I love this definition: Scientolomath is the use of numbers where nothing adds up, charts are made where only one dimension is numbered, and everything is made up. Another dose of statistical diarrhoea from the mecca of technical inadequacy.

      • aegerprimo

        I agree!

    • Chee Chalker

OT and Karen, if I may ask, what is your opinion of LRH? I ask in all sincerity ( saving my J&D for later).

  • Truthiwant

Well, sometimes things don’t go exactly as planned…

  • Truthiwant

Personally, I was amused by Scott Pilutik’s “mistake”.
    Here’s my parody on it…

    • Barbara Angel

Hahahaha, now that would be something to see.

    • Sarah James

He has a mighty big head and such a tiny body.

    • oh, and I’d like to remind y’all that Krustie is appearing on the Howard Stern show tomorrow [12th] … if you don’t have a twitter account and want to put some questions to him to ask her I’ll be happy to tweet him https://twitter.com/HowardStern

      pic

      • oh! my whacked back made me forget about this!!! FUCK!! damn muscle relaxers relax my brain muscle too!!! off to tweet to have him ask her about: Going Clear and Tony’s book!

        • beauty for ashes

Girl you gotta share! I am literally sitting here with a bag of ice around my neck, trying to use the mouse with my left hand! LOL 🙂 I’m going to doc tomorrow. I think it is a pinched nerve anyway!
oooh ask kirstie what she did with her extra skin!

          • ow!!!! my friend eddie had a pinched nerve in his neck and he couldn’t really use his right hand…..had surgery to fix it up….i hope yours isn’t that bad!!! but if you do need the surgery–you go home the same day!!! i have something wrong with my spine/back bone….who needs that?! 🙂 i’m sure the dr. will make sure you’re pain free tomorrow!!

i ABHOR muscle relaxers, pain pills, etc….after i had major surgery years ago i wanted to stop taking the percocet after 10 days and my dr. had to explain how/why they helped your body heal and even if i wasn’t in that much pain to need them i needed to take them for a full 3 weeks…..i have friends who think i’m a freak (for more than one reason 😉 and that’s one of ’em! but the muscle relaxers are making me feel better back wise…..just my brain is floating away!!

i’ll be thinking of you tomorrow!!! I hope you post a comment and update! i’ll try to find it!

            • beauty for ashes

I’m totally diagnosing myself, I hope its not that bad. I get what you say about meds, I’m chemically sensitive too.
Last time I had this much pain I only went to a chiropractor and took probabaly too much ibuprofen. it took a long time to get better, but it did so I’m thinking positive, although pain makes me really cranky. :{ then I think about people I know who have chronic pain, and I tell them how brave I think they are!

            • i hope it’s not that bad either!! if you’ve had this pain before and it’s come back i’m glad you’re going to a doctor…..yeah, pain makes me cranky too—though i’m unsure how anyone can tell when i am 😉

chronic pain peoples are truly brave and noble souls with conditions that often go unproperly diagnosed for years while they suffer…..and no one wants to be on pain meds like that, but that’s their only option…for now….hopefully someday soon, something can be done to help people with chronic pain!

          • (maybe she found a buffalo bill for the extra skin?) sorry….couldn’t help that….

            • beauty for ashes

okay little slow, but just found out what that means, and here’s a link for anyone else who wants to know.
              http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Buffalo+Bills&defid=1145778

            • oh i’m sorry!!! I shouldn’t have assumed you knew! apologies!! I WON’T put the lotion in the basket to get the hose again! 😀

            • beauty for ashes

I just didn’t know the exact reference. But working in cosmetics, anytime a customer would talk about lotion, we’d find a way to say ” It puts the lotion in the basket….it does what it is told.”

            • LOL! I hope most people got that one about lotion! 🙂

            • beauty for ashes

its was under our breath so they couldn’t hear. 🙂
hope you’re feeling better today. couldn’t get appointment with regular doc till Wednesday, 🙁 but I’m gonna try a sports medicine place tomorrow that has doc and chiropractor on site. 🙂 also working on fun ways to accessorize a neck brace! its always something!

            • i’d try to hold out for the doc wednesday if you could…if you’ve had this before, as you said, and it’s come back, best to get it thoroughly checked out….
i bet if you said it outloud someone would have got it 🙂
yes it IS always something! i swear if i had a day or two that went uneventful i might wonder what’s wrong! 😛
good luck with the doctor! i’m still on muscle relaxers and hope to get test results tomorrow—my dr. is off on mondays….THOUGH, knock on wood, if my results were BAD or needed STAT attention she would have called me at home any time this weekend…..so uh, good thing?

            • beauty for ashes

haaa! and don’t tell him either!

            • Of course you don’t tell him. Anyway for all we know Lou has been slipping Valium and Viagra in his scotch for years. Not at the same time though.

            • denise probably has sea org slaves baking ’em right now!! wait, she’s disappeared from public too, hasn’t she?

            • Has she? I wouldn’t be surprised.
The Tantruming Toddler wouldn’t have liked her bringing bad publicity.

            • Missionary Kid

      The smoking Baby is back,

      • Baby

He’s been in the corner since the New Year.. and he promised he would behave.. My problem was that he kept blowing his smoke in my face.. He knows I Vape. Just rude.

So we will see.. He called Janis Joplin ( My 2nd Avi ) a bitch and I added another day to his punishment. He is just a smart ass..

      • Baby

I took a picture of him in time out.. Checking the Bunker out.. I caught him flipping me off a couple of times.. He is something else.. But he loves you guys and wanted back on.. We will see..

    • L. Wrong Hubturd

I think the creepy one is the kid coloring. Whew, that look would scare me right out of the house.

      • BFM

He does have that “Damien” look on his face in the “The Omen” movie. Don’t mess with this little fellow.

        • Baby

haha It’s a little girl BFM..( Pink Jammies) I got to think of a cute nickname for you .. Little monster.. little man..fuzzy.. Give me one.. come on BFM is too formal..

            • L. Wrong Hubturd

Poor thing. You’ve got gender issues lately. First you were a girl, now this poor kid is a boy.

            • Barbara Angel

What ever it is, best to hide the scissors as that looks like a kid made haircut.

            • BFM

Haha yes, there is a gender thing going on with me, hope its resolved now. Was lulzy though.

          • L. Wrong Hubturd

Maybe it IS a boy and he’s pissed cause he inherited his big sisters pink pajamas.

            • Baby

Either way it has a Chopped up Hairdo..haha

        • L. Wrong Hubturd

Yes! That’s what I was looking for. Damien, The Omen.

        • Barbara Angel

Perhaps its Blubbard back for a new Incarnation? Check out the kids teeth and we’ll know for certain, if not, waive a packet of psyche drugs at him, if he shrieks and runs…Its definitely blubbard.

  • Sir Hemet TC Burlwood, VIII

My Goodness. I take leave for the weekend, anticipating The Big News on Monday at high noon, thinking therefore that it might be a typical and perhaps even quite weekend here at the bunker, but good lord! I check in and the party has already started! Cheers! And major congratulations to the Proprietor and a deep bow to Ms. Paulette Cooper. I shall increase my subscription. I look forward to pre-ordering what is sure to be an award winning book.
2015 is off to a wonderful start.

P.S., To Panopea Abrupta, I do not easily L.O.L. in literal fashion, but I found my self doing so frequently while viewing your latest YouTube video. Thank you.

It is not him…but the guy in the middle of the back row of the front table (with his hand up near his chin) looks like Craig Jensen…

          • BlondesAreDumb

Isn’t that Mirren’s director husband? Jensen couldn’t buy a seat at that table much less the back rows.

            • Anonymous

Probably. Jensen is not the high roller of days past and I doubt he could wring an invitation to this event in any case.

  • Oh this is great news and I bet a fantastic book !!!! Can’t wait !

  • Good fella

Thank you so much, Tony. I know we all wait with great excitement for the tv interviews to follow.

  • Lady Squash

Brilliant choice, Tony. All good ex’s have read about Paulette Cooper on Wikipedia, but the world needs to know. And no one could tell the story better. This is wonderful news. And I’m guessing a film will be next. It’s a great story, in a sick and twisted kind of way.

  • Chee Chalker

Interesting comment section over at Mike’s blog tonight re: Tony’s upcoming book. Not sure what I make of Mike’s response to comment about the book. I get the sense some of the commentors are not happy about the book. One person even said that Paulette’s book, ‘Scandal of Scientology’ was full of hate and venom. And that the harassment of Paulette was ‘unneeded’. Um, how about immoral, illegal, unconscionable, despicable, cowardly……..my blood is boiling on that one…

    • Observer

I can’t read the comments over there. As Mr Observer would say, it angries up my blood.

      • Chee Chalker

Mike has been more accepting of critics than Marty was (though Marty has been much better over the past year). Marty used to censor his site so that very little negative information on ‘the old man’ (as Marty used to refer to LRH) was allowed. I know Marty did not post many of my comments about LRH and mine were never that harsh. I never swore, nor used vulgarity, but he would not post if my comments were even slightly anti LRH. That was during Marty’s ‘Indie 500’ days….he seems much more open now.
Mike always has posted my comments, so I give him credit for that. He allows for both viewpoints.
But some of the commentors…..wow………I asked if anyone could provide positive LRH stories……since all I know of LRH is that he was a giant liar. I am not one to tell someone they didn’t have ‘wins’. If they feel better, more power to them. I just don’t think that the good parts of Scientology justify an ounce of the evil that has come out of that organization.

        • Frodis73

Cheers to both of you! I usually don’t read the comments either because like both of you, it annoys the hell out of me how so many still worship lrh.Just because a few people deluded themselves into thinking they had wins with Ron’s tech (hello…placebo??) means we are all supposed to ignore all the horrific shit done by him and on his behalf because wins ya know! Sigh. Assholes.

          • If you point out the bad things LRH did like over-boarding and locking tiny children in the chainlocker etc., they just stick their fingers back in their ears and repeat but I had wins, like that makes things go away. Sometimes I just want to slap the stupid out of people, perhaps I should ask Dave for slapping tips 🙂

            • madame duran

With that kind of mentality, they would be the type to defend Hitler for “bringing the German people together” while ignoring the atrocities of the Holocaust.

            • Barbara Angel

Absolutely, people can be so stupid and selfish sometimes and agree with anything, at anyone’s expense, so long as they got what they wanted.

        • I can understand how people who are embedded in the controlling subculture of the CofS can rationalise away the facts. Often it is a matter of self-defence.

It is harder to understand why people whohave left (or been offloaded by) the CofS continue to believe in ‘the sanctity of LRH’ and the validity of their ‘wins’ despite all of the evidence to the contrary.

Once again, I appeal to cognitive dissonance theory http://scicrit.wordpress.com/2014/04/30/understanding-the-scientology-mindset-pt-1-cognitive-dissonance/ The contradiction between the wild promises made by Scientology and the disappointing reality must bring about a painful internal conflict. There are only two way to reduce this conflict – you either recognise that it is all nonsense, or you rationalise the facts away.

Unfortunately humans are not naturally rational. We do tend to rationalise away inconvenient facts – especially if we have spent a fortune, and years of our lives on Scientology ‘training’. It is hard to cut such great losses.

I suspect that some of the people at Marty’s have found a doctrine there which enables them to control their internal conflict. It is the notion that that Scientology (as presented by Hubbard) is valid, but has been corrupted by Miscavige.

They are so aggressive and closed-minded when presented with evidence of Hubbard’s
greed and corruption because this threatens their equilibrium. Worship of Hubbard, and a refusal to acknowledge anything negative about him is not (always) a sign of the ‘true believer’. It is, rather, a sign of insecurity and doubt that is barely being kept under control.

      • Too many kool aid drinkers over there. I read his blog every day but rarely read the comments as I cant take the daily dose of stupidity and bullshit. Some posters are so stuck on their wins, but as far as Iam concerned I don’t give a fuck about their so called WINS because they came at the cost of deaths, suicides, slavery, beatings and the pain and suffering and misery of others.

      • Eclipse-girl

        I read the daily article.
I peruse the comments, but realize that many are newly minted “exes”

        Only occasionally do I comment.

        • Free Minds, Free Hearts

Newly minted exes. Yes we need to be kind.

          • Eclipse-girl

Yeah, but the comment that eating genrtically modified food will alter your genes is pseudo-scientific nonsense and that kind of stuff needs to be stopped as soon as possible

            • Frodis73

That one got to me too. I seriously wonder if these people can walk and chew gum at the same time.

            • Free Minds, Free Hearts

Actually Eclipse Girl, I think that their bogus nutritional thinking is the least of their problems… That is to say, I don’t think I want to attack the pseudo scientific beliefs of someone who is just waking up from years, perhaps decades, of coercive mind control, bullying, and punishment. Some of them will continue to believe in Narconon and the Purification ritual for awhile – but I think we need to be patient (or at least, gentle in our truths). Most of them come around.

            • Eclipse-girl

I can’t handle the pseudo science.

I live with a bio – informaticist, one who was there some 30 + yrs ago.
I understand a great deal of genetics.
I can’t allow such BS to go uncorrected.

Pseudo Science , itself, is a great pet peeve of mine ( and some others here).
I can’t let some BS stay out there as fact.
(Such as remote viewing “woo” as discussed about a week ago )

I agree the person I wrote back to will probably never see it and won’t stop repeating such BS.

I guess what I am saying in a very long way is my personal integrity can not let such BS go without being uncorrected.

We can have different opinions – whether or not Ronnie had some good qualities NOY, or whether or not the tech worked because it worked for an individual (you can’t argue with anecdotal opinion) But you can’t argue about facts.

            • Free Minds, Free Hearts

Well yes, and you need to honor your personal integrity – I am just saying that it might take years for these newly outs to get back any semblance of critical thinking.

            • Eclipse-girl

              I get what you mean.

I just get frustrated with what I think should be some common knowledge.
Th statement that was made was loony.
No one with any type of education (and yes, I know teat scieno schools are not education) would never state just a fallacy.

              I try to be patient.
I understand that these “newly minted exes” have usually suffered a great deal of abuse and a great deal of decompression / readjustment to deal with.

I would correct someone making a math mistake
I feel like I should do the same in this specific case.

        • Observer

Me too. The comments actually exasperate me more than anger me, but I do realize some of them are still in the early stages of decompression. What hubbard did to those people is appalling.

      • Missionary Kid

OT: I remember the phrase from a famous quote by Satchel Paige, “Don’t eat fried food, it angries up the blood.”

    • Barbara Angel

Under cover Trolls perhaps???? I’m with you on this one.
“how about immoral, illegal, unconscionable, despicable, cowardly……..my blood is boiling on that one…”

    • Frodis73

Spirit and Schorch (??) are freaking dumb ass idiots. I wish I had the energy and temperment to respond to their non sense. I really hope somebody does…maybe I will later.

      • Chee Chalker

I think that is my problem too, I don’t have the energy or patience. It does serve to show how powerful brainwashing can be…..even faced with hard evidence as to LRH’s true nature, the cognitive dissonance kicks into overdrive

      • Sarah James

I thought the same thing. I wonder how he could see Paulette as anything but a victim of lrh. I remember reading the paper about her being victimized and being told it was lies. It made me very uncomfortable and question more. For Spike, well I guess he dug his heels in. LRH for the win no matter who he hurts. Spike has a long way to go before he reaches freedom.

    • Free Minds, Free Hearts

Chee – Yes, I think it is the impact of long term destructive mind control and I counsel patience. Marty’s blog was (before he went totally woo-woo New Age), and now Mike’s still is, in part a way station for those who have left. Note that especially Marty, but also Mike, have moved away from the simple “LRH is good – DM is bad” assumption that they started with when they first started posting. But it took them awhile. People like Chris Shelton who leave, and are quickly able to undertake critical thinking, are very much the exception. It does no good to argue with those who are still in the process of moving from UTR to out-and Indie to freedom of mind. I think it best to let them move slowly in their own time, and accept them at whatever stage they are at. I even know one good solid Ex who is still an Indie after 10 years… I keep waiting…

      • Illinoisian

Very well stated. Patience is needed and an attempt, at least, to understand that it’s a process. When I feel my outrage rising (and it *does*), I try to remind myself that I had some very ingrained religious convictions that were strongly drilled into me in childhood, and that I carried well into adulthood. I know that tendency to excuse behavior, to assume that there must have been a ‘good reason’, that ‘we must not be getting the whole story’ — I had all the mechanisms of denial working. But I feel quite distanced from that faith now, and it takes a little effort to remember how loyal I was and how willing to make excuses for some pretty horrible stuff.

      • Chee Chalker

Yea, Chris Shelton is amazing! I’m not too surprised with the comments of the readers, but I was surprised by Mike’s response to Brian. Is mike saying that Paulette cooper is old news and does not need to be revisited? Or was Mike merely stating that, in his opinion, nothing new (information wise) was going to come out of the book?
Makes me wonder when mike found out the truth about the Paulette situation. I’m sure he thought she was crazy (the PR the Co$ put out about her). But at some point, he had to learn the truth…..maybe it still hurts to learn the truth about the great OT

        • Missionary Kid

The “old news” refrain is a typical $cientology handling by $cientologists for entheta. Thay haven’t given up all of the shit that they imbibed in.

        • Free Minds, Free Hearts

Yes that is very odd about what Mike says. Tony says there is new info – does Mike really believe it has all been said? I think it must have been hard to hear the truth about what they did to her, after hearing for so many years that she was such an evil person. Again the cognitive dissonance.

          • Chee Chalker

I was really quite sure Mike was so dismissive….. Maybe I was reading into his comment….or maybe mike is embarrassed. He still defedse LRH… Just because someone wrote some nice things once upon a time (LRH’s ‘My Philosophy’) does not mean that person actually believed it.

            • Free Minds, Free Hearts

He did seem dismissive. And he does still defend LRH but also allows that he created some of the problems the cult has to this day. Hm.

            • Chee Chalker

I meant to say I was surprised Mike was so dismissive (my first line above). I asked him about it today (on his blog). He replied that he did not mean to come across that way and he was really looking forward to Tony’s book. So I am relieved. I think mike Mike holds a lot of sway with the Indies, so I was happy to hear he was positive about the book!

    • Eclipse-girl

I was there earlier to day.

Only Mike had responded to Brian and I thought it best to let sleeping dogs lie.

After this comment, I had to go back and check.

      WOW.
One comment got to me, and I held back in my anger because I thought Mike could not publish it if it was too confrontational

    • Baby

Meh.. they still have the Old Man on a fuckin pedestal.. ” IT’S ALL DM’S FAULT..WE HAD IT GREAT UNTIL HE CAME ALONG BLAH, BLAH, BLAH..

I guess they missed the part about Overboarding..chain lockers.. all his despicable policies.. etc..It’s has ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT THE $.. and Power..

        Hello and good night.

      • Illinoisian

Good night, Baby. I’m staying up just a few more minutes to see the comments hit the 2500 mark, then off to bed. This has been 36 hours of energized celebration.

        • Baby

Loving your new avi.. Can I still call you Lincoln? I did a book report on him in the 4th grade and he still is in my heart.. xo

          • Illinoisian

I’d be proud to have ‘Lincoln’ as a nickname so, yes, continue to use it. I thought it was time for a change of avi. Your change didn’t ‘stick’ — but I must say, the ‘smoking baby’ is memorable, distinctive, and just — well — seems to suit you.

I did watch the comment ‘odometer’ turn over to 2500 last night before heading to bed. What a great weekend for news, comments, and ‘celebrity visits’ to the Bunker!

            • Baby

Oh Yay..I am absolutely obsessed with all things Abraham Lincoln.. Just all my life.. I loved Daniel Day-Lewisi in Spielberg’s movie.. just fabulous. So Lincoln it is..

My problem with my change is that those that knew me from the beginning didn’t know they were talkin to me..ha.. Plus..Yeah..I’m the smokin baby.

I have never been so tired as I was this weekend.. OMG.. I stayed up all damn night.. But so exciting..and it was so much fun celebrating with all of you.. xo baby..

PS I really, really like you.. I always have..You MY Lincoln..

      • Bob

Not one was even nominated. None even there that I could see. Krusty might have been there. But was not sure. Ricky Gervies made an off hand comment about Katy Holmes that was a duper inside joke about her situation. Celebrity clams was not nominated this year.

Nice win for ex’s everywhere. There is a good life after Scientology.

OT: On TCM, I recorded The Maltese Falcon and just watched it. The ending is so appropriate for $cientology.

The hero is hefting the lead, fake statue of the Maltese Falcon, and one of the detectives asks him, “What’s that?”

He answers, “That’s what dreams are made of.”

That’s $cientology in a nutshell: Dreams of gold that are really lead.

    • romanesco

It’s “the stuff that dreams are made of,” a reference to a line in Shakespeare’s The Tempest, “such stuff as dreams are made on.”

      • Missionary Kid

        Thanks.

      • romanesco

But funny how Prospero’s speech in the play seems somehow relevant:

        Our revels now are ended.
        These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits and
        Are melted into air, into thin air;
And—like the baseless fabric of this vision—
The cloud-capped towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve,
And like this insubstantial pageant faded,
        Leave not a rack behind.
        We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep. …
        —Prospero

  • Rhea

Hi, greetings from Seoul. Long-time reader posting for the first time. Congrats for the Miss Lovely book – can’t wait! I really hope it’ll be released in ebook form cuz international shipping costs so much and I’m not sure if the local bookstore will carry the book (since Scientology doesn’t have a real presence here — people generally know of it as the weird alien-worshipping sect that got Tom Cruise divorced — there wouldn’t be enough demand for it, I’m afraid).

Speaking of books, I have another good news to share, which is why I came out of lurking. The Korean translation of Gender Outlaw, Kate Bornstein’s seminal work, will come out in a couple of months!

Actually, Kate is the reason why I started Sci-watching. Last year her documentary film, Kate Bornstein Is a Queer and Pleasant Danger, was screened at the annual Korean Queer Film Festival (for the first time in Asia) and I was the one who did the translation. I was confused and dumbfounded when the film started to talk about Scientology (“Huh? What do they mean by the Sea Org, you mean they ACTUALLY ran the church on the ocean? Did the Hubbard guy really called himself the Commodore? These sort of things…), so I did some research and ended up at the Underground Bunker. And I have been hooked ever since. 🙂

Anyway, I don’t have the exact publication date yet but I’ll keep you posted. See ya!

    • BlondesAreDumb

Tony’s in the house! Oh man, cannot decide if I should stay up more hours for the BIG news and call in sick tomorrow. Tony or money?????

  • Michael Leonard Tilse

I once was a poor man.

My parents were poor, and I was poor with them.

I had no birthright and they left me as poor as when they lived.

I scrimped and saved and still I was poor. So I worked harder
and saved a little more. Still, I was poor.

One day, I met a man. A magnificent man, rich and wise.

I know this because he told me how rich and wise he was. He was very wise and very very rich. He dressed very richly and spoke wisely of many wise things.

This rich wise man told me that I too could be as rich, that I could have the very same wisdom.

But, he said, I had to take a risk, I had to be willing to trust him, and the cost of that trust was a part of my savings, and in exchange for that he would teach me the path to riches and wisdom. Of course, my pittance was nothing compared to his riches. It could not hope to actually purchase such a bounty. He was really giving me the secret, it was truly free. It was just that if I didn’t pay for it, I wouldn’t actually apply it, because it wouldn’t be valuable to me. So, I paid.

I doubted it a bit, but being poor had little to lose and so very very much to gain. I paid him my savings so that I could learn the path to riches and wisdom.

I really applied myself. I felt wiser already. My eyes were opened to the possibility that I, a poor man, might really be able to accomplish becoming rich and wise. That alone made me feel richer.

The very wise and very very rich man told me, in his magnificent way, that I had taken the very important first step on the true path to wisdom and riches. He said, now that you have done the first step, you must continue or that first step is wasted. You must pay for and start the second step immediately.

But I was still poor. I had not the riches to pay for even part of the next part of the path, even though it was merely a pittance compared to the value of the path.

The very magnificent man put his arm around my shoulders and said: “My son, I see in you a bright light, yearning for wisdom and riches that you justly deserve, and I want you to have them. So, if you work for me, helping me to put others on the path to wisdom and riches, I will take that as payment for your own path.”

And being a poor man, very full of hope and visions of wisdom and riches, I agreed. Already I felt richer. Already I felt wise.

The work was hard, but fulfilling. I took great joy in the bright faces of the new people I helped find and bring to the path of wisdom and riches. I learned very well how to convince them they needed the path and that their payments were such a small pittance to give for a gift of such great worth.

And as the years went on, I saw growing the accounting of the steps on the path I had earned. I looked at the certificates and took pride in my wisdom and felt that every day I was becoming richer. The magnificently wise and rich man took me aside and showed me a deed and pictures of a very great house he was having built for me, because I had helped him bring his message to so many. There were many rooms. A very green swath of land near an ocean with forest and lakes and mountains and there in the middle, the house that was mine.

The house was in my name. It was mine and I was indeed rich! But the very wise man still needed my help. I put the picture of my house and land under my pillow and knew I was truly rich. So the next day I was back at work, helping the rich man find more people who would pay a pittance for the true path to riches and wisdom.

The path was working! I was rich. I had a rich man’s house and a rich man’s land and I was helping people. What a wise, wise thing I was doing.

One day one of the people I was talking to about the path to riches and wisdom said a very bad thing. That the only one getting rich was the rich man and the only wisdom he was selling was the bitter wisdom of being fooled. I realized the he was a naysayer. And recalled this was the very thing that one of the steps of the path taught, that some people cannot abide riches and wisdom and must cast stones at those who have them. So I booted him out the door and sent other seekers of wisdom and riches to follow him and teach him a lesson. And I went to sleep happy knowing I had done a good job for the magnificent man and had protected my own rich lands and house, the very real rich lands and house I owned with a very real photograph under my pillow.

Over the years I had to deal with many naysayers in much the same manner. As I continued on the path, I grew more wise and even richer because I had a wonderful house and great knowledge passed onto me in the writings of the magnificent man.

One day a naysayer showed me a map before I could stop him. It was a map of the country where my house had been built, and all the other houses for all the other workers for the very wise and very very rich man had been built. The country and town where we would all live with our riches and our wisdom and our friends. But it was a false map. Where my house was and the land and forest and mountains and seashore of my property and all the other properties this false map showed only a broad empty sea. I knew it was false because I had a photograph of my house and lands and a large expensively lettered deed with seals and ribbons and official signatures showing that I owned this house so his map was wrong.

So I had him thrown out with extra bumps and bruises and set even more workers on his tail to teach him a lesson. Do not mess with the very wise and very very rich man who is making every one into very wise and very very rich men or you will become very very sorry.

After many many years of faithful service to the magnificent man, getting many others onto the path to wisdom and riches I was allowed to take my third best uniform and as many rolls with butter as I could carry, to finally travel to my house and take my reward.

I was wise and very rich as I had my deed and my photograph of my house and lands. It was no matter that I had a few pennies in my pockets and had to beg for transport as I traveled the long distance to the country and place of my home. A man is as rich as he feels and as wise as he imagines.

I was on the road for quite a while until I finally topped the hill, the final hill between me and my riches.

And there it was suddenly, before me, the broad sea as I had seen it on a dimly remembered map.

So I sat down on the hilltop and in my wisdom knew that at any moment my riches would rise from beneath the waves and I would at last be home.

Wow, Michael. That is the net, indeed.
“And Then I saw pebbles. Only pebbles where my promised house was to have stood. Pebbles where the long-awaited riches were to be found. And I realized that I was still very, very, poor. That the naysayers had been right.”

    • Great allegory.

I think a couple of Tshirts are in order. My suggestions for slogans:

It is February Dee, I jumped the gun looking at the wrong calendar on my desk. 🙂

Maybe you’re thinking of the Mike Ellis deposition — I think it was last week. I’m assuming Mike Rinder has been advised to to say anything at this point.

  • Qbird

Oh this is gorgeous – a historical narrative about Paulette Cooper, by that newspaperman, Tony Ortega.
I just finished Hillenbrand’s book Unbroken… an amazing story of a real human being.

This will be akin to that, I’m certain. I do not want to wait to hold this book in my hands…

You know, when bringing the subject of Scn. Inc. up to folks who have absolutely no idea about it at all

[That’s Tom Cruise’s religion, isn’t it?] It is Paulette’s story I begin with.

What this {{{church}}} did to her is the story. They always ask, why? What happened?
How is this possible? What do you mean a ‘church’ has an well funded intelligence division within their organization? What do you mean you have to pay to go to this church?
    You’re kidding right?
    You’re making this up.
No. Sadly, no, none of this is ‘made up’ – it happened.

Be advised; be aware of this organization & its front groups! Talk about it!
    Expose it!

I will need 3 copies, to begin. One for myself, of course. The other two to give away as gifts; one to
my boss & one to a guy I know who is in law enforcement – and likes to read. Ha!!!
    Oh yes… I cannot wait.

Bravo Tony~san. Flyin’ high with the truth.

    • Missionary Kid

I’ve missed you for a while. Good to see you back.

      • Qbird

Hi MK! This bird flew south for the winter. No sustained internet – only 20 minutes every 3-4 days. I catch up on articles, but am unable to comment regularly… still reading as much as possible tho. Mish – have you read Area 51 by Annie Jacobsen? Lots of aircraft history in it.

        • Missionary Kid

No, I haven’t. I’ve read lots of other books on it that are some of the personal histories of pilots and managers that describe what went on there. IIRC, Tony LaVier landed on the dry lake bed in a Bonanza and picked it out. The rest is history.

          I’ll look for the book.

    • Captain Howdy

      Howdy!

      • Qbird

Howdy back buddy – this 20 minutes of wifi has seriously cramped my style! Addiction – it’s a bitch.

  • Dave Reams

“… [the] Guardian’s Office, an intelligence organization that penetrated the US government and was able to subvert US policy to the extent that Scientology was ultimately granted religious status and tax-exemption.”

Will we ever know what Scientology had, has, on them? For the government to grant all those super powers to Scientology for nothing (visible) in return must have taken some considerable leverage. Why haven’t any of the number of high ranking defects spilled any beans?

  • Peter McMahon

Looking forward to buying and reading your book on Paulette Cooper Tony.

  • AnyOldName1

Wow! I cannot wait to read this book. What I know of Paulette’s story and Tony’s investigative journalism – this should be a real page turner! Please let us know when we can pre-order this book.

  • James Jeffrey Paul

Wonderful news! But I can’t yet find a page for this forthcoming book on Facebook. When will that go up?

  • Adrien Marcel Drea

    I am expecting this book
thank you paulette for what you did
    big respect

  • Tory Christman

I can NOT wait to read it: PERIOD. 🙂 <3 ((hugs)) to Tony and ALL here at the Bunker <3 This is going to be
goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood!! 🙂 No, it's going to be GREAT! 🙂

  • Tory Christman

Paulette Cooper is truly an amazing person, as is Tony Ortega! I had the great pleasure of meeting Tony soon after I escaped out and he wrote my first interview: Sympathy for the Devil in the New TImes LA, then. I had a party for Tony and gave him an award for “Courage in Journalism” as back then (2001 I believe) NO ONE would tell *our* side of the story, except Tony and a few others.

Then there is the truly unstoppable Paulette Cooper. I first heard of her for years …hearing lies about this
“awful, evil person trying to ruin our church”. Since I was “in”, I trusted them (the Scios pitching this) and of course due to the unconscious mind control, I never even questioned it.

Then I woke UP, escaped out in July of 2000. I met Tony soon after.
And after that I had the great pleasure of also meeting Paulette.

Since I’d heard of how utterly evil she was…..I never even realized that I’d formed this picture of her
as this BIG, BAD, Person. What a shock to meet this tiny, gorgeous, lovely person….the real Paulette
Cooper. It’s an honor to say both are my friends.

I hope for anyone in the LA area, or any other areas they are speaking….do not miss this historical
time and meeting. 🙂 I love you!! Tory/Magoo
