“Anyone who knows me knows I’m a rebel; no one tells me what to do. Not even L Ron Hubbard. But I’m smart enough to know who winners are and who losers are. I know that I applied LRH Management tech inside Scientology Organizations and then outside Scientology Orgs and it always worked better than anything else I read or tried. Why re-invent the wheel? The wheel is already there and abundantly available. So when I find someone telling me to ‘look elsewhere’ or ‘try other things,’ I know this person is a loser because this person never applied the tech like we did to boom Scientology, like we did. Yes, in the wrong hands, Scientology Management and the Sea Org can become suppressive/oppressive groups in themselves. But like anything that is run by suppressives it itself becomes suppressive. Just like in the hands of psychotics, assault weapons can kill a lot of people, but in the hands of sane people, they do not kill. We can boom Scientology again. It is very easy and I am willing to help anyone who wants to see Scientology grow.”

2000: From letters to the editor of the St. Petersburg Times: “I am a board member for the Lisa McPherson Trust and I take issue with the statements given by the cult of Scientology’s spokesman, Marty Rathbun. First, I am not an outsider, as Mr. Rathbun claims. I own a residence in Tampa and only moved here after the company I work for moved from downtown Clearwater because of the dark and threatening nature of the cult and its not-so-well-hidden agenda. The cult of Scientology has managed to insidiously insert itself into the very threads that control the business community of downtown Clearwater. When asked by the Lisa McPherson Trust to assist in finding office space downtown, I ended up going to every high-rise office building in downtown with vacant office space. In each case, we were turned down. When asked, some of the property managers were honest enough to say that they’d been contacted by the cult. We knew this to be true because we were followed by private investigators the entire time we were visiting these buildings. So when Mr. Rathbun says the reason we’re here ‘is to harass people,’ all I can say is that they accuse others of what they are guilty of. The Trust will produce the truth about Scientology and its management, the lies they tell their members and why they are trying to stop the trust. — Patricia Greenway, Tampa”

1997: The Daily Telegraph ran an article concerning a decision in the UK to recognize Scientology leaders as ministers, not cultists. “LEADERS of the sect of Scientology are to be allowed to enter the United Kingdom as recognised religious ministers following a revision in Home Office immigration guidelines. Scientology has previously been defined as a cult by the Home Office. In 1968 it was deemed ‘socially harmful’. Members were prohibited from entering the country to study or to minister. The rules were softened in 1980 and cases were judged individually but no scientologists qualified for the provision for missionaries and religious ministers until this month. The sect was informed of the change by the Immigration and Nationality Directorate of the Home Office via a letter to their solicitors on Dec 10. The news was welcomed as a ‘breakthrough’ by the sect which has its headquarters in East Grinstead, Sussex, and has been struggling to be accepted as a mainstream church since its inception in 1954. A spokesman for the Home Office said: ‘Previously we did not see Scientology as a religion but as a cult. ‘That position has changed which shows that we do what we say which is to keep things under continual review’. The 1971 Immigration Act provides provision for religious ministers to enter the country providing they can prove experience of ministry, religious training and that they are invited by a congregation in Britain.”

In the 70s & 80s there was Operation Snow White, Operations Daniel and Dynamite (Paulette Cooper) etc. Today, It’s Squirrel Busters, Freedumb Magazine and smear sites no one sees. Ron Newman reported: “Not only is Martin the apparent victim of a massive Cancelbunny attack, but his *entire* web site at http://www.ncf.carleton.ca/~av282/ has disappeared!! Sister Clara received e-mail from Martin, confirming his safety. “I have been in e-mail communication with Martin in the last 24 hours and, contrary to the wild speculation that has taken place in recent days, he says he is fine but is determined to stick by the decision he made to finally disconnect from ars and all things to do with Scientology. 2000: Jeff Jacobsen reported conditions in downtown Clearwater in the week prior to the annual Lisa McPherson memorial events. “I went to the Sandcastle to take pictures of the shelving Scientology is putting up along their bushes next to the sidewalk. These shelves will be used to place Christmas tries shoulder to shoulder to keep parishioners from seeing any potential picketers. I then took a few pictures of the half-built Winter Wonderland. Then to finish off the roll I went to the Super Power building. As I was taking pictures of several people going into the Super Power building on the south side, a Scientology security guy on a bike came up and asked what I was doing. ‘Taking pictures.’ Who was I taking pictures for. ‘Why, is it illegal?’ No. ‘Are you a policeman?’ No, but I can call them. ‘OK, call the cops and tell them I’m taking pictures of your building. Why do you care?’ Well we don’t get many people taking pictures of our buildings. ‘Well that’s all I’m doing right?’ Right.”

1997: St. Petersburg Times reported that the lawsuit against Clearwater by Scientology has been settled. “The federal lawsuit was filed in 1994. It was preceded by another legal battle that stretched from 1983 to 1995 over an ordinance that could have allowed the city to examine the financial records of Scientology and other churches. The ordinance was ruled unconstitutional in 1993, but a fight lingered for two more years over legal fees. Meanwhile, Clearwater police revealed in 1994 that they had been gathering intelligence on Scientology for 13 years, and they released the records to the Times. Under the settlement, Clearwater police have agreed to conduct a ‘good faith review’ of their intelligence files on Scientology and destroy any they deem unnecessary, a routine exercise allowed under state law. City commissioners rejected the settlement last month because it also contained a paragraph that would have required police to notify the church’s lawyers immediately by phone or fax when anyone requests the remaining records.”

2000 The Salt Lake City Tribune reported that U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch made comments in favor of Scientology’s efforts to discredit European countries for their efforts against cults. “Today, as democracies are born while people watch on worldwide television, it is important to guard religious freedom, Sen. Orrin Hatch told delegates to a symposium at BYU’s law school Sunday night. Hatch told delegates from 36 countries, including China, Mongolia and Iran, that the job of ensuring those freedoms is far from done — even in industrialized countries such as France. ‘Developments in France have been particularly troubling because one would expect France to be one of the leaders on a human-rights issue,’ Hatch said. But in ‘June of 1995, the French National Assembly established a parliamentary inquiry commission charged with ‘studying the sect phenomenon’ in the country. The French Senate will soon consider legislation that would ‘create a dangerously broad weapon for fighting unpopular religious groups,’ he said. Germany has also limited religious freedom, Hatch said. In Germany, the controversial Church of Scientology, founded by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard and embraced by a number of Hollywood celebrities, has endured discrimination by the government.”

“Personally I think that there has been a coordinated effort by certain factions in the Government for reasons of ‘National Security’ to invalidate the state of OT at least publicly and that the Church currently is playing along in this game. It is my opinion that the success of the Remote Viewing Project scared the bejesus out of them and now there is an ongoing effort to put the Genie back in the bottle. But that is my opinion and I can’t prove it. Though what I can pretty much prove is that the Church has now veered away from those abilities covered in the earlier lectures on the State of OT. For instance the original OT IV if run correctly will produce a Thetan Exterior, V and VI give the thetan familiarity with operating outside of the body. Yet these levels are no longer part of the Bridge. Why is that? There is no HCOB or Policy that canceled those levels yet they are no longer considered part of Church doctrine. Omitted levels is a definite out point. One big enough to drive not just a Sherman Tank but a few very large semis through.”

1998: Bob Minton posted documentation of Scientology’s continued pattern of harassment against him and his family. “The scientology misfits let loose their CCHR attack dog on Mass General Hospital and passed out the following flyer to all Beacon Hill homes: ‘Local members of an international psychiatric watchdog group held two 15 foot banners outside the main entrance of Massachusetts General Hospital to protest their use of lobotomies. Mass. General is the only hospital in the nation admitting to this barbaric procedure, said Kevin Hall, New England Director of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), A lobotomy protest may be startling, but it’s time people wake up to the brutality, ham and even death created by psychiatry.’ Do you suppose they are upset that my psychiatrist at MGH will not see them? Peter Franks, one of the London PI’s working for scientology, has been talking to as many of Therese’s friends in England as he can as well as my former business partner. My former partner, Therese and the children are the most likely targets to ‘track’ in order to bring pressure on me to stop. My former partners office and home (wife + children) have been regularly picketed and leafleted for several weeks. Franks says they will go after Jeff’s clients, including picketing the Nigerian delegation to the IMF meeting in Washington, D.C. October 4-8. Franks claims Jeff is going to be caught in a web of IRS tax investigations of me and claims 2 IRS agents they are working with are about ready to pounce on me. Due to the 7 year statue of limitations, scientology figures Jeff will also be ensnared unless he does something to help them. Franks has said that each and every neighbor of Therese will be visited in Boston and the whole ugly scene will be laid out for all to hear. The children’s schools will be targeted for the same campaign which will include teachers, administrators and parents to paint me as a pariah. Police in England have taken an interest in this matter.”

Discussion is fun and occasionally someone says something that makes you cognite about something. But it rarely resolves anything. Online discussions also have a value in knitting together a community. In our case, we can’t all descend on the corner bar and have beers together.
