1998: Grady Ward announced this week that he has settled all lawsuits with Scientology. “The terms were agreed upon in the court of District Judge Fogel and will be gone into in detail after they have been reduced to writing in the next 14 days as ordered by the Judge. Important concepts in the settlement included no erosion of the right of Grady Ward to ‘fair use’ material and other rights associated with the First Amendment and no admission of wrong-doing by either party. As part of the settlement, Ward will agree to dismiss his RICO counterclaim. Scientology will dismiss all three of their lawsuits against Ward in the suit alleging copyright infringement, their adversary action in Ward’s bankruptcy, and their third suit moving to withdraw the bankruptcy reference to district court. While Ward will pay Scientology money as part of the settlement, he fully agreed with the final settlement terms as composed in front of Judge Fogel and worked on by both parties and the Judge for several hours. ‘The plaintiff is supposed to give me a their final draft of the settlement offer and hopefully it will match my draft so that we will have a full meeting of minds. As usual, my first amendment rights are foremost in my mind; money is important, but somewhat less of a material issue to me than my rights to lawfully speak out and if necessary criticize a criminal cult.'”

1996: A nearly complete set of the NOTS (New Era Dianetics for OTs) processing levels were anonymously posted to a.r.s through the hacktic remailer in the Netherlands. They were subsequently reposted in HTML form through hacktic, and following their cancellation by the cult, reposted again through the Zippo system. The reaction across the net has been tremendously fast. Helena Kobrin, or a cultist using her name, mailed a series of requests/legal threats to attempt to remove the documents from several storage locations. The letter to Homer Smith, sysadmin of Lightlink was the most polite. “Last weekend, someone posted anonymously a number of the works contained in the NOTs Series. From some of the traffic on alt.religion.scientology, it appears possible that you may have those postings on the lightlink system. I know in the past you did not permit such postings on your system, so I am contacting you to ask that you verify whether this is true. (The message IDs are at the end of this message.) If it is true, I assume you will want to remove them. Please do so and let me know ASAP.”

The idea is to flood search engines with thousands of near-identical web pages, crowding out pages from Scientology critics. The agreement requires that Scientologists use a web filter to prevent access to critic’s web sites. “Church of Scientology International has been authorized to grant you, as a Scientologist in good standing, the non-exclusive, royalty-free right to reproduce and display on your personal Web site the collective membership mark ‘SCIENTOLOGIST’ and the Scientology symbol, upon certain terms and conditions. In this particular case, why, they ran some jerk down there who they knew was a security risk. He couldn’t pass an E-Meter test if you’d held a gun to his head. He is just a complete bum. So they go ahead and give him high-level processing. Name is Werne. And they give this fellow a bunch of high-level processing and restimulate two or three wrong goals on him one way or the other so he goes into a complete spin. And I think he’d been in psychiatric treatment and he went back under psychiatric treatment, and then he runs over and sees Galbatty to get Galbatty to pass legislation so as to cure his GPMs and it just all went to smoke. And it had never even occurred to anybody down in Melbourne simply to handle Werne, refund his money and straighten him up. When they did refund his money, they didn’t even require him to sign a release. So they went and refunded his money; he went over to the court the same afternoon and filed a suit for a hundred and sixty thousand pounds. I mean, it takes genius, see? 1996: Jeff Jacobsen posted some research concerning the basement of the Ft. Harrison Hotel, the cult’s headquarters in Clearwater, Florida. “There is some controversy about whether the Ft. Harrison Hotel in Clearwater (which is a Scientology building) has a basement. Dennis Erlich claims he was locked in the basement as part of his RPF for doing something wrong. Brian Anderson, VP of the church in Clearwater (who is the president?) said on WMNF that Dennis is lying and there is no basement in the Ft. Harrison. I’ve heard that the latest KSW magazine also says there is no basement in the Ft. Harrison. Anyone can go over to the County Courthouse right next to the Ft. Harrison and look up property assessments for any building in Clearwater. The Ft. Harrison is listed as having a basement of 1806 square feet.”

Not so fast: Judge Hammock questions David Miscavige’s challenge to step down

When Leah Remini sued the Church of Scientology and its leader David Miscavige at Los Angeles Superior Court last August, she wasn’t happy with the first judge who was selected to preside over it, Judge William Fawhey.

So she submitted what’s called a “peremptory” challenge, meaning that she had one opportunity to remove a judge without having to explain her reasons. The case was then assigned to Judge Barbara Scheper, but she recused herself because her attorney husband had done work for Scientology in the past.

That’s how Judge Randolph Hammock then got assigned to the case, and he has been handling it since then. We saw him in action in January, and we liked what we saw. He took the time to understand the case on a deep level, and even said in court that he’d never worked harder on a tentative ruling in his entire career.

But then, when he made that tentative ruling a final one last month, dismissing some of Leah’s defamation claims but keeping in eight of her nine causes of action, Scientology leader David Miscavige then made his displeasure with the ruling plain when he filed his own peremptory challenge to have Judge Hammock removed. (Scientology attorney William Forman then filed notice that the church planned to appeal the ruling.)

But rather than simply step down, Judge Hammock is pushing back, wondering if it’s too late for Miscavige, especially on his own, to remove the judge so easily.

Yesterday, he filed a rather unusual order, asking both sides to submit arguments about whether, at this point in the lawsuit and after the judge’s major ruling, Miscavige can, unilaterally, remove him.

He proposed both sides wrestle with these questions and get him answers by April 9:

1. The fact that this Court has already ruled upon a special motion to strike (Anti-SLAPP), which may involve a “contested fact determinations relating to the merits of the trial,” does this prevent Defendant Miscavige’s peremptory challenge at this time?
2. Does the fact that Defendant Miscavige is the de facto leader and/or CEO of the corporate defendants prevent him from filing this peremptory challenge, in his individual capacity, at this time?
3. Does the fact that he sought relief, in his individual capacity, by filing a motion to quash for this Court to hear, prevent his current peremptory challenge at this time?
4. Does the fact that subsequent to the filing of his peremptory challenge, he filed a joint stipulation for this Court’s signature and Order, on 3/29/24, requesting an extension for his time to file a responsive pleading, affect his right to exercise a peremptory challenge at this time?
5. Does the subsequent filing of a notice of appeal by the corporate defendants in regard to this Court’s ruling of the special motion to strike have any impact on the pending peremptory challenge, either jurisdictional or otherwise?

Wow! Judge Hammock has spent a lot of time and effort on this lawsuit, and he does not want to be sent packing so easily.

We’re very curious about what both sides say about this. For example, what if Leah’s side has its own issues with Judge Hammock? Will they argue to keep him? We can’t wait to find out.

Prodded by the Scientologists’ paid lobbyists and its cadre of sympathetic entertainers, several lawmakers and the Clinton administration have criticized the German government for allegedly discriminating against Scientology practitioners. They even got their argument against Germany to the floor of the House of Representatives last November. The lobbying push comes amid an ongoing criminal investigation into a suspicious death of one of its parishioners at Scientology’s Clearwater headquarters – the latest in a history of controversy involving the church. That history includes convictions of 11 Scientologists on charges stemming from break-ins of government offices in the 1970s. Scientology has used lobbyists in Washington in the past, but in the years since the IRS ruling the organization has stepped up its lobbying effort. Records made public last week show that Religious Technology Center, a Scientology affiliate in Los Angeles, paid almost $725,000 to a Washington-based firm to lobby Congress in 1997 and 1996. David H. Miller, the managing partner of Federal Legislative Associates, said members of Congress initially were skeptical about his client and its checkered past. ‘What I’ve said to members is, ‘That’s all bulls—. That’s all extraneous. Let’s talk about the facts,’ he recalled, though he concedes: ‘What they are trying to do is live down some of their past mistakes.’ Miller, 50, is a former congressional aide who has been a lobbyist for 18 years. He and his firm represent clients such as the American Bankers Association and American Airlines. He is not, he said, a Scientologist. Miller, the lobbyist, said he has gradually tried to build a foundation of support that gives Scientologists’ claims of discrimination credence in Washington. The biggest victory in that regard has come from the U.S. State Department, which criticized the German government for its treatment of Scientologists in its annual human-rights report.”

Scientology gushes about David Miscavige’s ‘Ideal’ appearance in Austin

Before Scientology’s Austin “Ideal Org” becomes, like the other 64 Ideal Orgs that came before it, an afterthought, we’re giving one more look at its Saturday grand opening, this time with a glance at Scientology’s own version of what transpired.

The church put out a press release about the event right around the time we were posting yesterday’s great insider report from Kat, the former Austin member who was able to decode some of the things that Miscavige said during his remarks on the temporary stage set up outside the building.

But it’s always fun to see such a close-up image of the man himself (seen above), which Scientology issued. We know you all love to comment about how Miscavige looks (he’s going to be turning 64 on April 30), and speculate about the state of his health. He appears to be doing fine, seems to us.

And why not, he’s in his element at these things, and it’s been more than four years since the last one.

“In some ways, finally running out of excuses to avoid service and accepting the inevitable has had a silver lining for Miscavige,” Mike Rinder tells us, referring to Dave finally knuckling under and accepting service in a couple of Los Angeles lawsuits that name him as a defendant, from Leah Remini and Jane Doe 1. “The Ideal Org program is his program — and he has no doubt been feeling the embarrassment of not having opened any new ‘Ideal’ Orgs in so many years. It’s hard to prattle on about how well Scientology is doing if there are no new Ideal Orgs. He has established this as the measuring stick of Scientology expansion. He has touted it for 20 years — ‘look at our unprecedented growth, 473,234 sq ft of new orgs opened…’”

Here’s the rah-rah thing Dave told the crowd this time, according to Scientology…

“You’re Texas big and Texas tough,” said Mr. Miscavige. “While before that ribbon falls on your new Church of Scientology, this is a moment to remember what was said long ago by one of your famous Texans—that it was the best land he had ever seen, and there was a world of country to settle. Well, so it is again today. Except your ‘line of country’ is the human spirit, and you settle it by restoring to people the happiness, love, sincerity and kindness with which they were created.”

And keep in mind, that’s the quote Scientology elected to share with the public. Wow. Seems to us Dave is really missing his old speechwriter, the late Dan Sherman.

As usual, Dave was preceded by some local dignitaries. And we’ve documented in the past how Scientology does its best to convince local mayors or other elected officials to show up. But these days, it’s getting harder for Scientology to get real VIPs to appear and say a few kind words about L. Ron Hubbard.

Here were the Austin shills, er, honored guests.

Mike McHone was identified as “Vice-President of the University Area Partners Association” which sounds totally legit. He was effusive: “For those of you who aren’t from Austin, this town is a university town. We work to keep our neighborhood at the front of the pack when it comes to, well, everything. And today I’ll admit a little Longhorns pride in celebrating another big step in keeping our neighborhood the Best of the Best. Hook ’em Horns! Each and every one of you should take pride in knowing you have helped make our home what it is today. Your members form the backbone of an ongoing community effort. Which is another way of saying, you have shown an inherent understanding of what our residents need with a passion and care to create a thriving, active community. While today, with this Grand Opening, we celebrate the return of a major player to this University area. So what I should really be saying is, ‘Welcome back!’”

Sam Price was identified as someone who had worked in the Texas Health Department for 25 years and is now a “dedicated Texas drug education advocate in Central Texas.” So he was there as a fluffer for Scientology’s front group “Drug-Free World.”

“From the outset, our attitude was, ‘Let’s educate people.’ And we got that Truth About Drugs information out to everyone. That means, thanks to your support, thousands who never had a choice to be educated now have the choice to say, ‘I’m going to live drug-free!’ The world would be a better place if more people had the care and commitment that your Church members do. No doubt about it. And thanks to Drug-Free World, you’ve given this kid from the south of Austin the opportunity of a lifetime. So I have one final request: keep doing your good work. You’ll never know how many lives you’ve saved.”

Simone Talma Flowers was identified as “Executive Director of Interfaith Action of Central Texas,” and Scientology loves its churchy shills maybe the most.

“Bridging division between different faiths is not simply a ‘nice to do,’ it’s essential. You have been pillars of devotion and dependency. And upon those pillars, we have now built the largest interfaith movement in all of Central Texas. I have to tell you, we are so excited at the prospect of holding our events right here — front and center in Downtown. This Ideal Org will be a shared space where any and all are welcome, a place for services, talks or meetings for reconciliation. So may it continue to shine as a sanctuary for all faiths for all the decades to come!”

Nelson Linder was identified as president of the Austin chapter of the NAACP, and it’s a shame to see a representative of that organization shilling for a nearly all-white group like Scientology, and for its founder L. Ron Hubbard, an outspoken supporter of apartheid who said that black South Africans didn’t deserve to vote and were too stupid for Scientology auditing.

“Like many others, my fight for civil rights is now decades long. A just society requires sacrifice and commitment. In fact, a great man once said, ‘Injustice is not something in which any man with power should ever trade.’ That was Mr. L. Ron Hubbard. To say such in the crucible of the 1960s shows tremendous courage. At that time, just a handful were in the middle, trying to broker peace, and yet there he was. Mr. Hubbard’s ideas of forwarding the concept of true justice were both visionary and grand. And let’s face it, they inspired you all to create a movement not only in Texas, but around the world. That’s not just a gift for those who are here. It’s a gift for those who aren’t even born yet. So on behalf of the Austin NAACP, thank you, Mr. Hubbard, for being a strong voice in the land. With this Grand Opening today, we can now say: Yes, Mr. Hubbard, we are turning your dream into reality. And that is most certainly cause to celebrate.”

OK, that’s gross.

But Scientology once again did its best to pretend this was the best thing ever, and posted some photos of a celebration that managed to attract only a very small crowd.

1996: Karin Spaink posted an account of her day in court in the case of Scientology vs. numerous Dutch Internet providers. “Nauta Dutilh started: Hermans took the stand and said that many people did not hold his client in high esteem, and that no matter what that criticism was worth, they have rights, among them copyrights – and that these were what was at stake here; nothing else. ‘The controversial nature of my clients is irrelevant here.’ He explained that, as RTC held the secrecy of these materials very dear and had a vested interest in this confidentiality, they could not allow publishing or quoting the OT’s in any way whatsoever. Then Bakker Schut took the stand. He went on in great detail about Fair Gaming, how CoS treats its critics, the harassment of a.r.s, the rmgroup message, the lawsuits. He explained about OT 2 and about OT 3 – the complete Xenu story. He explained about the recent warnings given and measures taken by the German government, and quoted extensively from the brochure issued by the German government. He explained how the OT’s ended up in a court file and that they had leaked before; he explained that quoting parts of them was not only a right and fair use, it was also a right defended by both freedom of speech and public interest. Pors, for Planet Internet, took the stand, explaining that he only wanted to talk about the position of the providers. They had not been given evidence by plaintiffs to prove the alleged infringement; I had been able to explain to them that there was reason to doubt the infringement, so what were they to do? Tied up between their duties towards their subscribers and the complaints of an outsider. And only now, last week, RTC and NEPI had provided them with partial proof. Which only showed that it pays not to listen to RTC etc too soon – their claim was now much smaller than it had been earlier. Bakker Schut again explained about the OT’s – having them available was a matter of public interest because so many people had encountered psychological problems over them. (Both this time and before, when he mentioned OT 3, some CoS members could be seen stuffing their fingers in their ears. They did not want to hear this.) When the president of the court was about to adjourn the meeting at 16:30, Hermans got up and said: ‘Considering the great number of accusations that have been thrown at my client, could Mr. McShane please be allowed to speak and counter them?’ ‘NO,’ said the judge, ‘YOU were the one who started your speech saying that the controversial nature of your clients was not an issue here anyway.’ Verdict due on Tuesday, March 12, 14:00. The Scientology forced-marriage lawsuit has two big issues facing it today and next week

There’s a lot going on in the lawsuit filed by Jane Doe 1 against Scientology, David Miscavige, and Sea Org recruiter Gavin Potter.

At the end of 2022, between the two criminal trials of Danny Masterson where she was one of the three Jane Doe victims, Jane Doe 1 filed this lawsuit under seal, taking advantage of California’s Childhood Sexual Abuse law, which has some advantages for plaintiffs suing over incidents that happened years ago.

In June, the case was unsealed and it was revealed that Jane Doe 1 was suing Scientology because as a minor she alleges she was forced into a marriage with Potter, and that any sexual relations she had in that marriage she considered non-consensual. She was married to Potter from 1991 to 1997.

Scientology went to its usual playbook and filed a motion to force the case into its own version of “religious arbitration,” saying they had found a 2002 contract signed by Jane Doe while she was at the Flag Land Base which contains the church’s infamous arbitration clause.

Judge Robert Broadbelt is scheduled to consider Scientology’s motion on February 16. But in the meantime, he granted Jane Doe 1 the right to have limited discovery, and now we’re getting some idea of what she was able to pry out of Scientology in the last few weeks.

Specifically, in a new filing are copies of documents that tend to corroborate her version of events, that when she went to Flag in 2002, it was to spend time with her good friend Lisa Marie Presley, and not to get “religious” services. More documents have been produced, for example, which show that no one from Scientology itself had signed the contracts that Jane Doe 1 says she was forced to sign merely for spending time there.

Documents recently produced by Defendants confirm that Scientology Defendants never accepted the Agreement and that Jane Doe did not participate in services at FLAG during her visit in 2002 or thereafter.

Her attorneys also make the point that Congress in 2022 passed the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act, which makes it illegal to enforce arbitration in cases of sexual assault. (We expect that, as usual, Scientology will argue that “religious” arbitration is a separate animal.)

So, a big day in court is coming for Jane Doe 1 on Feb 16 over Scientology’s usual arbitration gambit. Today, however, the case has a hearing regarding David Miscavige’s attempts to stay out of the lawsuit by arguing that he hasn’t been properly served the lawsuit.

We’ve told you before, numerous times, about how Miscavige plays this game, sending his personal attorney Jeffrey Riffer to make a “special appearance” and claims that they haven’t been properly noticed of the lawsuit.

And last week, Riffer filed a new document with the court, asking Judge Broadbelt to take notice that three years ago the judge who forced the Bixler v. Scientology case into religious arbitration (which was later overturned by an appeals court) had agreed with Miscavige that efforts to serve him weren’t sufficient, and he wasn’t named a defendant.

Riffer, of course, is hoping that Judge Broadbelt decides similarly today and finds that the money and time Jane Doe’s team has spent on process servers has all been in vain.

Also, as for Tuesday’s hearing in Leah Remini’s lawsuit, we checked with the court and were told that Judge Randolph Hammock has taken the motion to strike and anti-SLAPP filed by Scientology under submission and has not yet made a ruling. And as for the attempt by Miscavige to stay out of that lawsuit, his motion to quash is scheduled to be heard a week from today, and Judge Hammock’s court confirmed to us that no decision has been made yet about whether the Scientology leader has been formally served.

1999: Frequent Scientology protester Gregg Hagglund reported a visit to his elderly parents this week by representatives of Scientology. “One Catherine Manning and one AL Buttnor attempted to trick my parents into permitting them to enter their home. My parents are in their 80s and not in the best of health. I had extended the No Trespassing Notice I gave the Co$ to include my brothers home (which the Co$ had visited once before) and my parents home. It may be possible to bring charges of Criminal Assault by Trespass. Court showdown over Scientology leader David Miscavige evading service coming next week

On Friday, we brought you up to date on Scientology leader David Miscavige’s attempts to keep himself out of Leah Remini’s lawsuit.

Once again, Dave is dodging process servers while he has his tetchy attorney Jeffrey Riffer complaining that Leah isn’t looking in the right places.

We explained that the few public records available do suggest that Leah is looking in the right place by having her process servers search for Dave at the Hollywood Guaranty Building (6331 Hollywood Boulevard and 1710 Ivar Avenue), and that Riffer is just playing games.

We also told you that we’re looking forward to a hearing on February 14, when Judge Randolph Hammock will have a chance to bring some common sense to this bizarre situation.

However, we wanted to point out that we don’t have to wait that long to see how Dave’s latest attempts at evasion play out in court.

Next Thursday, on February 8, the question of whether Dave has been properly served will be coming up in Jane Doe 1’s forced marriage lawsuit against Miscavige, Scientology, and Sea Org recruiter Gavin Potter.

In fact, Jane Doe 1 and Leah are sharing some of the same attorneys, and have also been sharing some of the same process servers. So the hearing on February 8, before Judge Robert Broadbelt III, could be an interesting preview to what happens a week later in Leah’s case.

Once again, the attorneys trying to serve Miscavige explain in a document they filed this week that they have gone well above the minimum state requirements for “substitute service,” but that it’s plain that Miscavige is purposely trying to evade being found, and is gaming the system.

The multitude of documented service attempts upon Miscavige, and the numerous individuals involved in protecting him from service, leaves zero doubt that Miscavige is not only aware of this lawsuit, but is actively thwarting his legal obligation to play a role in it. The service-dodging of Miscavige and his agents in this matter is a continuation of his longstanding practice of electing procedural gamesmanship over participation in litigation.

The attorneys also point to the Baxter labor trafficking case in Florida which was filed by Gawain and Laura Baxter as well as Valeska Paris, who were successful proving that they had done enough to serve Miscavige by substitute service.

Jane Doe’s attorneys point out that they have done the same things Valeska’s legal team did in that case…

Indeed, efforts very similar to those made by Jane Doe in this case were deemed proper substitute service against Miscavige himself in Baxter v. Miscavige….The court in that case noted that the plaintiffs showed sufficient due diligence to effectuate substitute service where their efforts included: hiring a private investigation firm, searching public and court records, contacting Miscavige’s counsel, and making over twenty attempts to serve Miscavige over the course of several months (all efforts that Jane Doe has made in this case).

Jane Doe’s legal team attach hundreds of pages of exhibits which refer to Dave’s speeding tickets in Florida in 1991 and 1995, and to business listings for the Religious Technology Center in order to show that yes, the HGB is the most logical place to serve Dave.

And in those hundreds of pages are lengthy searches on Dave’s connections to various Scientology locations and Scientology employees. And, to our delight, one of those searches even turned up an email address for the diminutive Captain of the Sea Org.

So we dropped him a line, asking him about his apparent decision to move Shelly up to Petrolia.

1996: Controversy this week concerning Tom Marcellus, prominent Scientology member and director of the Institute for Historical Review (IHR). IHR maintains that the Holocaust never happened. Evidence of this link was posted by Tilman Hausherr. Cory Brennan, spokesperson for Scientology, has denied that Tom Marcellus is a Holocaust revisionist. Tilman quotes an IHR web page: “‘From [founder David] McCalden’s departure in 1981 until 1982, Tom Marcellus served as editor. Marcellus started at the bottom at the IHR and worked his way up to become director, a position he assumed in 1981 and holds today.’ I don’t know what ‘today’ is. The HTML document is from 28.10.1995. On the other hand, I have read in the IHR FAQ that Marcellus left the IHR to pursue his scieno plans. The German edition of ‘Freedom’, scientology’s propaganda paper, brings the bizarre theory that Marcellus ‘discovered’ that the IHR was denying the Holocaust and then ousted [co-founder Willis] Carto. They even printed 2,000,000 copies of that lie: ‘On his own initiative Scientologist Tom Marcellus organised a movement against Willis Carto and threw this extremist out of an organisation named Institute for Historical Review, after he had discovered that this institute, that claimed to have been founded to correct historical mistakes, was in fact being used by Carto to propagate the Auschwitz-lie. Scientology leader David Miscavige once again denies he’s been served Leah Remini’s lawsuit

Last month, we told you that Leah Remini submitted proof that she’d made another set of attempts to notify Scientology honcho David Miscavige that she’s suing him by sending out process servers to perform “substitute service” on the elusive church leader.

Leah filed her lawsuit on August 2 against Miscavige and the Church of Scientology (in the form of Church of Scientology International and the Religious Technology Center). She’s alleging that she’s been harassed and defamed for years by Scientology, which has interfered with her ability to make a living.

Like he has numerous times before, Miscavige responded by sending attorneys who tell the court they’re making “special appearances” outside of the lawsuit itself, claiming that Miscavige has never been properly served.

For our foreign readers in particular, this has been a very strange concept: Miscavige responds to lawsuits by sending attorneys to argue that he is unaware that he’s being sued because no one has officially notified him of it. Such is the way litigation works in this country.

For her part, Leah has made extra efforts to serve Miscavige by having process servers approach employees at key Scientology facilities, giving them copies of the lawsuit.

And now, Miscavige’s personal attorney, Jeffrey Riffer, has once again come back with his usual angry style, saying that Remini is wasting everyone’s time because once again she’s focusing on a place that is not where David Miscavige lives or works.

OK, before we go any further into Riffer’s riffing, let’s get something straight.

David Miscavige, according to the church’s own publications and websites, is the chairman of Scientology’s subsidiary the Religious Technology Center (RTC).

And according to Scientology’s own websites, RTC’s official address is 1710 Ivar Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90028.

As for Miscavige himself, there are very few official records which list an address for him. But there’s simply no question that in 1991 and again in 1995, he was cited for speeding in Pinellas County, Florida (where Clearwater is, and Scientology’s “spiritual mecca” the Flag Land Base) and both times his home address was listed as 6331 Hollywood Blvd, Apt 1100, Hollywood, CA.

Well, now, here’s an interesting thing about those two addresses, RTC’s headquarters at 1710 Ivar Avenue, and Dave’s address at 6331 Hollywood Boulevard…

They’re both the same place.

The Hollywood Guaranty Building at the corner of Hollywood Blvd and Ivar Ave is a key Scientology property. On its ground floor it houses the L. Ron Hubbard Life Exhibition, a garish display of affection for Scientology’s founder. But up on the 11th floor, according to many former Sea Org employees, is the nerve center for RTC.

Both 6331 Hollywood Blvd and 1710 Ivar Ave are entrances in the same building.

So, according to what few public records there are, this is the best evidence for one location, at least, where David Miscavige lives or works.

We understand that he’s probably not around there much these days. The only verified recent public appearances of the man, according to Scientology’s own publications, are at graduation ceremonies and other events at the Fort Harrison Hotel in Clearwater, Florida (2021-2023), the IAS gala at East Grinstead, England (November 2023) and at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on December 16.

But if you’re a process server looking to complete “substitute service” on the evasive David Miscavige by placing court papers with one of his employees, you’re basically on solid ground to attempt it at either the Hollywood Blvd or Ivar Ave entrances of the HGB.

And that’s exactly what Leah Remini did this last time, with her process servers focusing their efforts there.

But now, Miscavige’s surly personal attorney Jeffrey Riffer is back with his usual bombast, ridiculing Leah for wasting everyone’s time at a location that is not where Dave lives or works…

Plaintiff Leah Remini (“Plaintiff”) is a former Church of Scientology parishioner. She was expelled from Scientology for serious misconduct. Ever since, Plaintiff has made a career of publicly attacking her former religion and Mr. Miscavige personally. This lawsuit is just her latest effort to harass Mr. Miscavige.
Plaintiff’s prior insufficient attempts at service of Mr. Miscavige in this action are already the subject of a pending motion to quash. Apparently realizing that her purported service was invalid, Plaintiff sent process servers to allegedly attempt service of Mr. Miscavige at two additional locations, neither of which is Mr. Miscavige’s home nor usual place of business.

Riffer submits numerous declarations and spills plenty of ink claiming that Leah’s process servers didn’t do what they said they did, and then once again repeats that she’s simply not going to the right place…

Plaintiff cannot manufacture diligence merely by returning to the same improper address multiple times. Plaintiff’s process servers claim to have attempted personal service at 6331 Hollywood Boulevard and/or 1710 Ivar Avenue six to eight times between October 30 and December 12, 2023….None of these purported attempts were valid because these addresses are not Mr. Miscavige’s usual place of abode, dwelling place, or usual place of business.

Of course, Riffer doesn’t offer what place is Dave’s usual abode these days.

But again, the public records that do exist contradict Riffer and point to the HGB as the place to attempt to serve Miscavige. And we’ll remind you that last year, a similar effort to serve Miscavige by Valeska Paris’s attorneys also focused on the HGB as well as some other locations, and she was successful having a federal magistrate judge in Tampa declare that Miscavige was purposely evading service, and that those efforts were sufficient to declare Miscavige a defendant in Valeska’s labor trafficking lawsuit. (Sadly, a few weeks later the district judge in that case granted Scientology’s motion for arbitration, derailing the lawsuit, but the fact remains that Miscavige was found to be evasive, and he was named an official defendant, in part because of efforts to serve him at the HGB.)

So the upshot is, Riffer is going to Rifferize like he always does, and he and his client Dave will continue to pretend that he hasn’t been properly notified that he’s being sued.

Soon, however, Riffer is going to run up against Judge Randolph Hammock — on February 14, in fact — and after our experience observing Judge Hammock last week in Los Angeles, Riffer and Dave may be in for a shock. If Judge Hammock again relies on “common sense” as he did last week, well, maybe some of this nonsense will finally go away.

Scientology leader David Miscavige’s New Year’s speech in Los Angeles — the transcript

It’s happened again!

We were leaked audio of Scientology leader David Miscavige’s IAS speech that he gave November 3, and now, audio of his New Year’s event speech which he gave just this past Saturday in Los Angeles has also gotten to us. We want to thank Chris Shelton in particular for helping to make this happen.

Like the last time, we’re partnering with “Apostate Alex” Barnes-Ross to bring you this speech. Alex is posting the audio, and we’re putting up the transcript (which is handy if you want to see what Miscavige said without actually listening to his droning on and on.)

There are some really interesting moments in this speech. First of all, Miscavige, who had promised four new Ideal Orgs in the first quarter of 2023, now says they will open in January and February at Paris, Austin, Chicago, and Mexico City (which gets its second Ideal Org).

Also, Dave unveiled this year’s Super Bowl ad for the crowd, which soaked it up.

Miscavige makes a lot of claims about how great Scientology has been doing since 2020, the last time he was able to host a New Year’s event at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, with miraculous advances in places like Hungary and the Czech Republic.

And once again, he’s trying to sell “admin tech” as the savior of the Ideal Org program, which in 20 years has not produced the results he promised.

The audio begins after Miscavige has already begun speaking…

Tonight’s finest work from the front lines of ABLE is especially timely picking up as it does when we last met in this Shrine Auditorium and then directly addressing the global engram that ensued. Then again, while enough has been said about the pandemic itself, the most destructive element was not a virus so much as the attendant societal psychotic break.

In that regard, this story is also timeless, drawn straight from the universal booklet of living LRH provided as the rock-bottom technology to salvage a culture and create a true Brotherhood of Man. I’m of course referring to ‘The Way to Happiness’ and more specifically LRH’s express intention for the 21 Precepts to reverse cultural trends of violence and crime.

Or as he wrote, “All you have to do is keep that booklet flowing into society like gentle oil spread upon the raging sea, the calm will flow outward and outward.” And here is a story of perfect demonstration of exactly that: Portland, Oregon.

It’s where underlying passion and prejudice tear away a decency and civility until the city erupts in anarchy and rage; rioters storm downtown Portland for more than 100 consecutive nights while a violent crime wave at the inner city breaks all local records. But standing right in the heart of downtown as a beacon of sanity is our Ideal Org: launch point for Portland Operation Calm.

Phase one begins with mobilizing teams to accomplish the first major target, namely saturate riot hot spots within a full mile radius of the Org with The Way to Happiness. Given pandemic restrictions limit face-to-face and door-to-door distribution, the Org orchestrates a massive mailing, so even as the riots rage the Org was all-hands-on-deck with more than 100 staff and volunteers working to deliver a message urging Portland citizens to live together in peace.

Hour after hour they assembled packages for every individual address, inclusive of a response card for additional booklets. All total you’re looking at more than three tons of materials to infuse a ravaged city with nearly 44,000 copies of The Way to Happiness, all in a single postal blitz. Yet, it’s what next happens that enters this story into the pages of Portland’s legend and lore. Because call it magic, call it divine intervention, the very next day after booklets arrived in residents’ hands the nightly riots don’t just let up, they stop cold.

That was just phase one under the heading of ‘The Merchants of Freedom.’

That was just step one under the heading of emergency triage, because there yet remained the residual fog of skyrocketing urban crime. And so, no sooner had pandemic restrictions lifted, the Org schedules a series of open houses for the entire community. The objective: enlighten and inspire full adoption of the 21 Precepts by pivotal community groups, and so spark a happiness movement at the grassroots. By way of example, Black Men in Training, they are all about steering at-risk youth away from Portland’s East Side gangs, and they are soon adopting The Way to Happiness as their own, including a personalized custom cover, at which point the 21 Precepts also become an integral part of their youth curriculum.

And so the pattern repeats with adoption on behalf of violence prevention, gang intervention, juvenile reform, on and on, as The Way to Happiness is soon coursing across Portland’s inner communities through more than a dozen partners, whereupon the org launches Operation Calm phase three. And specifically to bring The Way to Happiness to every Portland resident in the name of a citywide moral resurgence. Hence, teams head out in force for end-to-end distribution wherever Portlanders intersect. The city’s annual Grand Floral Parade where volunteers bestowed 200 booklets an hour personally enlightening citizens one on one and in emphasis of safeguard and improving your environment.

There’s more at Portland’s signature Blues Festival, where memories of the riots still linger, thus underscoring the positive version of the Golden Rule. There’s more again at the weekly arts and crafts market with the overriding message to set a good example. And so it rolls street by street through historic old town and every other block and by-road to the city center until staff and volunteers distribute more than 120,000 copies of The Way to Happiness, thereby reaching 100 percent of downtown Portland residents, whereafter and against all odds, Portland hits a turning point with headline news proclaiming a dramatic drop in shootings and homicides. All while total crime plunges below pre-pandemic levels. And yes, that’s calming a raging sea with The Way to Happiness for this New Year’s celebration 2024.

For all that, however, there is still another word due on April and it follows from that momentum, and it brings global presence, because take the kind of stories you just saw in representation of on-the-ground action, multiply it out across the rest of this planet, and here’s the worldwide tally. To begin there’s The Way to Happiness, now inspiring a world resurgence among populations, speaking virtually every language on Earth, even a new African dialect, which by sweeping turn of the globe puts the precepts in play across 193 nations, and where a new partnership was forged every nine hours, combine it all, and it’s a grand total of 140 million booklets coursing to the ends of Earth.

Our Narconon saga is just as pervasive. Look no further than LRH drug rehab powering a delivery system that generated 1.2 million hours of life-salvaging help, all of which drives yet another program step to completion every 30 minutes. And that global network is also ever expanding, with new centers arising on the western coast of Taiwan, on the outskirts of Tokyo, a first for Japan. All while in just two weeks, a new Continental center will cut a ribbon and open her doors in South Africa.

Finally, there’s Applied Scholastics now marking a golden anniversary and their 50-year legacy is recognized by no less than the United States Senate for ensuring quality education for the nation’s students. While in testament to that, worldwide, new schools, centers, and groups continuously arise across the realm of academia more than 700 and all just since 2020, making for a network 2500 strong and that’s how Applied Scholastics empowered 64 million students with tools for learning, combine it all and that’s ABLE bringing LRH solutions on behalf of more than 200 million for this New Year’s celebration 2024.

But even so, there is one final statement to complete the ABLE saga for tonight. Moreover, this is the one that comes from the whole tableau of ABLE stories. And although the voices are many, the message is the same. Because this is what it’s like to come to work every day and salvage the eternity of beings.

Present populations are relatively literate, moral, crime free and drug free. While the next make-break point for a civilization is prosperity. Factually it’s another crucial step toward mass clearing. And especially when you consider it’s a subject that concerns every inhabitant of Earth, or as LRH describes, “Work is the major rule of our existence, whether we like it or not. If we don’t like it, we don’t like life. Even more, lose the man his income or his job and you find him in a bad mental condition.” Needless to say, the proofs of that were evident everywhere these past years, what with total shutdowns of industry and commerce, hand outs that wiped out entire workforces, and all of the ramifications thereof. Why go on, you see it every day.

But just as LRH gave us First Dynamic auditing technology to increase the survival of the individual as an individual, so too, he gave us third dynamic and administrative technology to increase the survival of groups. Moreover, it’s extended to the world at large through the World Institute of Scientology Enterprises, otherwise known as WISE. And to once again remind you here is how it all rolls out.

WISE was charged by LRH to disseminate his technology for group prosperity and sanity. Its membership comprises professionals who adopt and apply admin technology to their own endeavors. But WISE further enrolls and trains members as consultants capable of troubleshooting and expanding any venture no matter the ambition, no matter the industry. Simultaneously, higher level of training is provided by a worldwide array of Hubbard Colleges of Administration, who graduate students as official Hubbard administrative specialists. In combination then, WISE employees have LRH admin technology for sanity and prosperity on the third and fourth dynamics, which in turn impacts all other dynamics and so fosters global survival.

Tonight’s opening stories from the universe of WISE recalls the age old proverb a man’s house is his castle. It resonates all over this world expressing so incisively not only a right to a roof over one’s head, but in the benefits, happiness, and prosperity. Yet given the quicksands of financial markets that vision of the castle all too often becomes like a sand castle washed out to sea.

New South Wales, Australia. In the mid 20th century, the Great Australian Dream was born, a dream synonymous with possessing that castle of one’s own. But a 21st century housing shortage and runaway inflation create a crisis pricing young families out of the market, which is why three out of four will tell you they’re ready to give up the dream altogether. But now enter homebuilding titans, Johnny and Mike Hibbard.

That these identical twins could be mistaken for Thor is apt, since both picked up by a hammer from their father at age 15, ultimately become third generation owners of the family business Hibbard homes. All of which runs headstrong into an industry notorious for running out of control, as in over budget and over time.

But bringing his nation the universal solvent is Peter Gono. He first discovered Scientology when he chanced upon an OCA test, and today he is a Clear. Peter first earned his stripes as a pioneer in Bohemia’s industrial center of Pilsen, establishing the field group [name] from where he delivered introductory lectures, primarily Anatomy of the Human Mind, and thereby introduced more than 1,000 to Scientology. Rather, it’s a new field of Scientologists, as evidenced by a group springing to life to once again start the cycle a new, the pattern repeats 130 miles to the northeast, at the engineering hub of [name]. Birthplace of world premiere culinary maestros, operatic legends, and none other than Mr. Ferrari himself, which is why it’s no surprise her citizens proudly go by the motto, we make difficult things easy. And opening the high speed road to total freedom is the mission of Modena. She is governed by Simonetta Gorzanelli, who first entered Scientology in 1985 and soon thereafter began her lifelong mission career.

Well, today she is also a New OT V. Then there’s The Way to Happiness, for which distribution teams plied Modena’s oldest indoor market. While the city is not a hotspot for crime, she still sees her share of petty theft. Hence, the 21 Precepts are welcomed all over artisanal food stalls of aged vinegar and other Modena delicacies, while all together the mission provides 150 booklets an hour to holiday shoppers and vendors alike, for a total of 74,000 copies circulating city wide.

There’s more and significantly so for Drug Free World, considering Modena’s high income scales, affluent youth readily access cocaine and assorted party drugs. So volunteers permeate Modena’s main square. And still more permeating every other locale where public gather, with a booklet into public hands every 20 seconds, at which point to reach everyone else, Drug Free World partners with local cinemas, whereupon it’s not only Truth About Drugs displays, with booklets for every moviegoer, but PSA screenings reaching 50,000 patrons every day.

Combine it all, and that’s how half a million Italians now know the truth about drugs. Finally, there’s Modena’s force of VMs always at the ready to do something about it. Case in point when cataclysmic flooding inundates more than three dozen towns and cities across the north, Modena renders 3500 hours of indiscriminate help. For all the talk of opening gateways in far flung corners of this world, iHELP now extends introductory auditing across 24 time zones, from the world’s oldest republic to the planet’s most ancient desert, remote villages of the Arctic fjords, the southernmost capital of the Americas, the edge of civilization in Pacific rainforests, and the fastest-growing metropolis on Earth.

And when you add in everywhere else in total, there are now over 500 new groups extending to the farthest reaches of humanity, making for a global field far surpassing 2000 iHELP pioneers. Meanwhile, Scientology Missions International celebrated a chain of cascading ribbons from hemisphere to hemisphere in the United States, Spain, Australia, Georgia, Hungary, Romania, Ecuador, and Tanzania. While all together those missions and groups form an unbroken ring of portals to our Bridge spanning more than 100 nations, and yes, in combination that’s how SMI and iHELP ushered 3 million individuals through the entrance gates of Dianetics and Scientology for this New Year’s 2024

Once again, no view of the sector is complete without a personal perspective, in this case from those who hold wide the gates across 24,000 miles of our world, for after all, what else conveys that feeling when comes a gentle knock at the door and you welcome some being to the threshold of everlasting life. So the final word on our groups and missions I give you those who live that feeling every day, our members of iHELP and SMI.

And that brings us to our new year’s award celebration and what historically marks our salute to a worldwide League of power FSMs. We’re going to reiterate the essential: A field staff member represents the coalescence of all you just witnessed this evening, so whether public Scientologists, iHELP auditors in groups, SMI mission staff, or WISE members, all fulfill a common purpose as field staff members.

Indeed, it’s the one purpose LRH bestowed on every Scientologists, to help LRH contact, handle, salvage, and bring to understanding the individual and thus the peoples of Earth. So, precisely in accordance with those words we come to this year’s presentation, each will receive that treasured Power FSM pin for escorting at least 100 people onto and up the bridge through a single calendar year. Moreover, this year is capped by FSMs who represent another milestone altogether as we honor not one, two, three, four, or five, but unprecedented six Scientologists as elite FSMs, which is to say in a single calendar year they each helped a thousand onto and up the Bridge.

So, to a record 224 FSMs, who personally ushered Scientologists, one on one, to a staggering 154,849 steps up the Bridge, I ask that you join me in a thunderous ovation as they take this stage. Ladies and gentlemen your inspiring and elite FSMs.

And with that we come to the culminating chapter of this New Year’s review and the crucial nexus between yesterday’s history and tomorrow’s destiny, all of which is another way of saying we not only come to the culmination of all you have thus far seen, but also full circle from the moment I told you, we’re going to ignite solid rocket fuel for liftoff into 2024. Because make no mistake, this next is the one that makes all else possible, namely, our ideal organizations.

Of course, if you’ve been in one, then you already know that they’re a physical universe manifestation of the Bridge itself, meaning they’re designed to accommodate every level of that Bridge and to propel every being right to the top. A golden age of introductory routes, a golden age of knowledge, a golden age of tech phase two, all of them are quite literally embodied in an Ideal Org. But even still, there yet remains one final component to the full Golden Age equation. And in all truth, this final component is the linchpin, all of which is to say it complements and amplifies all others, ultimately bringing the entire golden age to fruition. And yes, that’s what launches in 2024 in the name of a golden age of administration.

For all else we’ve heard tonight regarding LRH Administrative Technology for third dynamic survival, and its application to any growth, let’s not forget that it’s research and development was intended for the third dynamic of Scientology.

Moreover, auditing technology as contained in HCO bulletins and admin technology, as contained in HCO policy letters, they are a direct parallel, as but one example, when LRH announced and released the first Scientology grade chart, he concurrently announced and released the first Scientology org board. And well, I could go on with example after example, you already get the point. Third dynamic admin technology creates the organization necessary for the 100 percent standard application of first dynamic auditing technology.

And hence, keeping admin working is synonymous with keeping Scientology working. All of which returns us to the future we are creating in the name of expansion and the very substance of that phrase, not on pause. Then again, while others may speak of these last few years in terms of, we lost all that time. We, on the other hand can rightfully say, we took advantage of all that time. And specifically with a largest training program in all our history, all to make a new breed of organizational executive, the likes of which has never been seen. And no, that is not an overstatement.

First, we do not train just one or two executives for an org. Rather, we train a full team at a minimum, the entire executive council. Training begins with the org executive course, the OEC. It entails a chronological study of every policy letter for every division, department, section and unit of the entire organization, and all of it requiring star-rate checkout. Moreover, the passing grade on final exam is 100 percent. Next, they train on the flight executive briefing course the FEBC. The course is comprised of the full management series volumes, plus the FEBC lectures.

Furthermore, the course is studied three times through. Needless to say the passing grade on final exam is also 100 percent. Finally, these executives are also trained on the tech they will be administering, depending on what post they hold in the organization, they have been trained as either a golden age class four auditor, a golden age word clearer, a golden age course supervisor, or all of the above. But even more this program also includes processing. First, advancing their case up the grade chart, followed by the False Purpose Rundown and capped with Super Power.

Now combine it all we’re talking the executive teams who are the highest admin-trained executives, the highest tech trained executives, and the highest case level executives we have ever had. And that is what is spiraling out across this planet for 2024.

With that let’s return to right here and right now because as I speak to you, no less than eight teams have completed their FEBC programs both training and processing and are now in final briefing to fire back to their orgs. All of which is to say…

All of which is to say Melbourne, San Francisco, Tampa, Miami, Orlando, Denmark, London, and Edinburgh, get ready because here they come.

Now let’s move move right to the launch pad because likewise in final briefing are full FEBC teams for brand new Ideal Orgs. I already previewed one of them in our IAS anniversary last month. And yes, the 21-person FEBC executive team will soon be pulling down a ribbon for a new Ideal Org in Paris, France.

But if you thought that was all, well I was just holding back. So now let’s set this night on fire and blow the roof off this auditorium. Especially since even before you can say bon soir, you’ll be saying yeehaw for this one.

As for the particulars, in addition to a full complement of FEBC executives for both day and Foundation another 39 of her General Staff have also been training at FLAG. In full she’s manned by 140 staff including 57 Clears and OTs. While beyond that, all you really need to know by way of introduction is the slogan these people go by. Namely, I wasn’t born here but I got here as fast as I could and here’s the reason why.

If that’s an Ideal Org for Texas, a state dubbed ‘the country’ owing to its size, then we next arrive at a city so colossal, it might as well be a country. But no matter how you slice it metaphor or reality, it’s the biggest city in North America topping even New York and Los Angeles. As for what’s about to energize this organization, she too is a full complement of FEBC executives, all poised to lead a grande staff 165-strong, including an 18-man HCO and 55-man tech team. Beyond all that is an org that was destined for Ideal a long time ago, having provided the first ever translations of the Comm Course, HQS and Student Hat. So yes, Viva the nation of this next Ideal Org.

The vastness of Texas and its capital at Austin, Mexico City and the grandeur of its valley, all of which takes us to our final destination this evening. And the majestic city were the skyline kisses the clouds.

Then again, if it’s our third of the night this org will tell you they are second to none. And if it all sounds poetic I assure you it is not. They are the most populous city in the midwestern US and are otherwise known as the City of Big Shoulders. Even more to the point is their Ideal Org building was constructed in 1915 and is an architectural masterpiece. But for the big muscle, that’s our work staff: A 13-man FEBC executive team, trained and ready to lead an org team of 138 staff, including 47 Clears and OTS with a combined staff experience of 640 years and all of to prove, if the turn of the calendar year is about to signify a whirlwind of Ideal Orgs, then it appropriately concludes in the city where the winds blow strongest.

With that, let’s now put the final exclamation point on this year and our launch off into 2024. As in, our traditional welcome to the world out there. How it seems I have moved on from what you’ve just seen, well not quite. Because in fact we have now arrived at the next juncture. Meaning the extension of Ideal Orgs to broad public dissemination and where that dissemination is Ideal Orgs.

Moreover if you had not previously grasped it, well, it’s precisely we’re we’ve been heading ever since our Scientology ads began a decade ago. Yes, we’ve been telling the world there is a spiritual technology, that this is the age of answers where they can achieve their full potential, then again, and especially through the pandemic years we have enlightened them to be more and to live again.

Finally, and as a through-line to all we have asked: Curious? To which I can tell you the answer. They most certainly are. In proof, 20 million new viewers of Scientology Network. But now…

But now, enter Ideal Orgs. Today it’s a galaxy of 72 stars and soon to number 76. The point, not just that our doors are open to all, but that we have so many doors and they are everywhere on Earth. And thus the next inevitable auditing command, a command to walk inside and behold an Ideal Org. And here it is, premiering to the first 115 million at Super Bowl 58.

Now that we have criss-crossed the globe, traversing every sector of LRH technical application, revealing our Global message for tomorrow, and unveiling new Ideal Orgs for eternity, well, we have also now closed the door on yesteryear thus fixing our sites firmly on the glorious future ahead. And all of it in turn to say, we have now arrived at the triumphant conclusion of this evening’s New Years event. Then again this is the moment I traditionally asked you to ponder the year ahead. But tonight we’ll do it differently because what’s there to ponder when it can all be a certainty?

First, in the name of Ideal facilities we have now opened 127,953 square feet and that’s just since the IAS anniversary six weeks ago. Next and with no doubt whatsoever, there’s all I just previewed in the name of Ideal Orgs for January-February 2024, and since we’re talking numbers, that’s another 377,253 square feet and all to open in the next six weeks.

In fact, combine it all it’s more than half a million square feet open for delivery in just 12 weeks. And if you aren’t breathless yet, you would be if you were me. Try one of the, try one of those overnight jaunts Southeast and North not to mention Europe and back all while keeping every other ball in the air, but even so, that’s still not the full picture on future Ideol Orgs because there’s another 591,952 square feet already in construction, all while another 1.5 million square feet will go into construction this year.

But if that’s Ideal Orgs, there are also Ideal Advanced Organizations. The next one is already in construction and a second is now in planning for construction in 2024 all to fulfill the prophecy of an OT base in every Continental Zone.

Yet if all of that is in the name of helping build the better Bridge LRH called for in Book One, we likewise work relentlessly to provide the same for all other technologies he provided. In the name of Narconon and drug rehabilitation, you’ve just seen a new continental center soon to open in South Africa, well, there are another four Continental Narconons also moving to completion this year.

Then there’s Applied Scholastics for Study Technology. New campus facilities are either already in hand or being acquired, all to create continental centers in every geographic zone. Moreover. it’s all just in preparation for a new golden age soon to roll out in the name of Applied Scholastics.

Yet if everything thus far is for the dissemination and application of LRH’s technology, then the greater picture is the technology itself. And in that regard, what’s about to roll out is nothing less than monumental. Not a new category of golden age, but an expansion of them all, from the long awaited recovery of yet another introductory route, to new discoveries in the Golden Age of Knowledge and that’s quite in addition to new technical releases spanning the entire Bridge. So once again, to reiterate, there’s no need to ponder because on to the next, you and me, our future is a certainty.

Sure, the forward steps we take don’t happen spontaneously, they’re all the result of a lot of planning and a lot of doing. What we have in store for next year is the fruition of an abundant quantity of both of those labors, but they are a certainty.

But now let me add one more factor to all I’ve just rattled off in terms of the future state for an expanding Ideal and an expanding Golden Age — after all, it was a fairly fast ratatat listing of what’s coming in the new year. No, the factor I am speaking up is not that I could rattle it off off the top of my head. Rather, it’s that everything you experienced this evening, everything we are working to create in the name of a better tomorrow, all of it is in the singular pursuit of a singular purpose: To move every being onto and up the Bridge all the way to the top.

Even more to the point that purpose is a purpose we all have as Scientologists. Now at this point you may be expecting me to tell you, lend a hand, stake your ground. Yes, it’s true. You should do that and especially since the vast array of ways to contribute are everywhere you look. Be it as an FSM, field group, mission, or part of the worldwide org team, or if you prefer one of our social betterment sectors or the front lines of Fourth Dynamic salvage. But that’s not my message for tonight and besides, I’m quite certain there are a multitude of people outside those doors who are already going to tell you that.

So instead let’s return to that purpose, to move very being onto and up the Bridge, all of the way to the top. And with that we have come to the heart of the matter and my final message and gift to you. Yes, I do need you and you and you — all of you. Take your next step. And the next, all the way to the top. And now to help you, and now to help you on that journey it’s my pleasure to present you with this gift. It comes in a pocket folder: “Take your next step.” Contained within is Ron’s Journal 36 titled, “Your New Year.”

LRH wishes you a happy holiday season with the hope that you will take advantage of the carefully marked trail upward. Also contained in the folder is a grade chart. Just so you’re reminded at the start of every day. The inside of the folder gives the exact targets beginning with making your 2024 New Year postulate for total freedom. And that’s my New Year’s wish for all of you: Total freedom, because in the end, it’s all that matters.

So there you have it, a New Year’s event at the starting line of limitless horizons and infinite tomorrows, but to truly close out this evening, let this be my final closing message to ensure tonight’s event is a done.

Simply, I invite you to sit back and consider how far we’ve come and to likewise consider what you’re now a part of. Because yes, this is a timeless moment in Whole Track history, and a tale that will be told and retold forever. Well until forever, let every wristwatch in this house now start ticking again because we’re all now on the clock for that countdown to lift off and a year for all the ages to come.

1997: The New York Times published an article on harassment experienced by Bob Minton. “Leaving her home in Boston one morning early this month, Therese Minton was shocked to find her husband’s photograph on fliers stuck to cars and trees in their Beacon Hill neighborhood. Beneath the photo was text that began: ‘The face of religious bigotry. Your neighbor Bob Minton is not all that he seems.’ A few nights later, as children arrived for the birthday party of one of the Mintons’ two young daughters, three Scientologists picketed quietly outside the home, handing out the same flier. And the same night of his daughter’s party, Minton was among about 40 anti-Scientologists marching in front of the church’s spiritual headquarters in Clearwater, Fla., to mark the second anniversary of a Scientologist’s death, for which the protesters blamed the church. These are among the latest skirmishes in an escalating war between the Church of Scientology and Robert S. Minton Jr., a retired investment banker, who has spent $1.25 million to finance some of the church’s most outspoken critics. Minton became a dedicated foe of the church after learning of what he considered its heavy-handed efforts to silence the critics. In addition to the fliers, the church has private investigators digging through Minton’s past, and Minton says he suspects that two men he saw following his school-age daughters twice in October were church operatives, though he says he has no proof. ‘I realize that these are the tactics that this church uses to try to intimidate people it can’t control,’ Minton said. ‘They do intimidate me. I’m not a total fool. But I’m not going to walk away either.’ Church officials vehemently denied authorizing anyone to follow Minton’s children and said that he made up those incidents to get press attention. But they acknowledged picketing his house and using private investigators to examine his background.
