Scientologists use faith healing to convince fire victims they’re actually helping

Australia’s largest city, Sydney, is surrounded by brush fires. Smoke covered the city this week leading some residents to seek medical attention. Six have died so far and more than 2.5 million acres and hundreds of homes have been burned. As we reported last year, disasters of this scale are an opportunity for Scientology to work on “safepointing” their Ideal Orgs, and to disseminate founder L. Ron Hubbard’s “assist” technology (light massages with quack healing claims).

Firefighters are working across huge areas of New South Wales and Queensland, but Scientology Volunteer Ministers are based primarily at the Hawkesbury Fire Control Centre in Wilberforce, a suburb northwest of Sydney. Scientologist Andrew Gason is helping coordinate the effort through the AOSH ANZO facility in Chatswood West. In his request for help “Non-E” means Non-Existence in Scientology, a state just above “Liability” on L. Ron Hubbard’s scale of conditions. It’s the condition assigned to Scientologists starting a new endeavor or project.

OFFICIAL NON-E. Every day here our presence is growing stronger and our ability to help is getting better and better. The demand for our services is high and we now have a fatigue management area to permanently set up and deliver help. From assists to org board hatting, we have it all. Today our VMs were cooking breakfast for the former Prime Minister Tony Abbott and every day we have senior govt officials coming through and seeing how the operations are being done. The fire will burn for 9 more weeks and we are the only reason these firefighters can continue to fight the fire relentlessly.

We need the following:

MORE VOLUNTEERS:
All volunteers to contact Nigel at CLO who is managing our volunteer registration and scheduling. Message me for his number.
Volunteer schedule:
5am-12pm
12pm-5pm
5pm-10pm
8pm-11pm

MORE DONATIONS:
We practically ran out of food yesterday for the firefighters and some of them had to go on the road without eating. In terms of food we need, the list is as follows:
Packets of chips and snacks for vms (salt chips and stuff as there is no breakfast yet and no food for the VMs on the midnight shift.
2000 multi bars
2000 mars bars
2000 small snack pack biscuits
2000 3 bean mix packets
beetroot, corn, pineapples, baked beans
Chickpeas and sultanas enough for 2000 meals.

[Fatigue Management]

VMs have been working long hours in Hawskbury. They have donated clothing, food, and water but their biggest contribution has been labor to assemble meals and serve food to hungry firefighters. They also provide Scientology assists under the name “Fatigue Management.” Assists are cure-all treatments developed by Hubbard to put a person back in communication with their body. From cancer to headache, from fatigue to actual death, Scientologists believe an assist can cure any condition. Hubbard claimed:

Every single physical illness stems from a failure to communicate with the thing or area that is ill. Prolongation of a chronic injury occurs in the absence of physical communication with the affected area or with the location of the spot of injury in the physical universe. When attention is withdrawn from injured or ill body areas, so are circulation, nerve flows and energy. — TOUCH ASSISTS, CORRECT ONES, HCOB 7 Apr. 72RA

Scientology appears committed to helping feed Hawksbury firefighters for as long as the fires burn. It’s considered a huge PR victory for the church, enabling them to safepoint Scientology in Australia and promote the healing methods of L. Ron Hubbard.

Leaked document of the day

From the Valley Org documents release comes this item.

Hey, we can’t put people in our magazine if they aren’t all checked out for ethics violations. It just wouldn’t do to have squirrels and infiltrators showing up in the org house magazine that no one actually reads!

“Nobody ever objects to anybody in India being found dead. So they’re dead. They’re dead. They get married when they’re 12 or 14, kick the bucket when they’re 21, 28 — real quick. The only trouble with the people is, it’s too hot there and they key in all the prenatals they’ve got. It is about 90. Any time you get a climate which is approaching 98.6, you can get the whole prenatal bank keyed in almost perpetually, because that’s the temperature in the prenatal bank, 98.6. That’s why hot countries turn feminine, so forth, so it’s not a hardy country. But way up north, those boys live with kind of wild abandon, too. They always have.” — L. Ron Hubbard, November 24, 1953

Overheard in the FreeZone

“Scientology is the Science of Certainty. You gain certainty in your ability to audit by auditing. I know most of you have given up on the idea of being able to clear the planet. But with thousands of idle OTs (‘do nothing OTs’) to help us if they would just do something, we might still have a chance.”

Random Howdy

“My take on it is that Hubbard created Dianetics as a ‘short con’ and when it took off on a level he didn’t expect and when everyone by the early 60’s had reached ‘Clear’ and the gravy train started to slow down he created the ‘long con’ of the OT levels. The $64,000 question is whether due to mental illness and perhaps drug use did he start to believe in his own bullshit? When he says at the end of OTVIII ‘now that you know what you aren’t are you ready to find out what you really are?’ I see this as phase 2 of the long con. Hubbard is saying ‘Hey, guess what kids, I took a detour and I was on the wrong road but now I’m on the right one, so lets go.’ The bottom line and perhaps unanswerable question is how much was calculated and how much was crazy.”
