Dick Glass (aka “The Elephant”) was a folk singer turned hippie that (he said) Donovan wrote “Hurdy Gurdy Man” about. Tom Solari and Clark Carr were regulars on the Sonny & Cher Show. I could go on and on about the hippies become $cientologists. Think about it – Clear the Planet. Sounds groovy, huh man? Rainbow Bridge, dude! Gnarly. It was wild to watch as it all turned to fascism.

This is a really interesting way to think about it, Skip. I’ve often wondered how scientology flourished among the California hippie set in the 70s. Seems so antithetical to what they claimed to be about. But this is an interpretation I hadn’t thought of. And very true that many, like you, just wanted to do some good in the world, and had that subverted. But when people who have that altruistic drive learn the truth, and then turn that drive towards exposing the cult…well, the cult better turn tail and run. I keep thinking of what Leah said at the end of the season 2 premiere of her show–she’ll make tearing down the cult her job now if she has to.

No matter how badly the Catholic church may have mishandled it, rape and child abuse are mortal, inexcusable sins. People have to grievously violate church law to act in those manners. On the contrary, in scientology all you have to do is follow policy and you will find yourself doing a lot of evil things to yourself and others.

I don’t remember the daughter’s name. It’s been decades. I do remember the mom’s name. But I’m a bit worried about putting the mother’s name on the internet cuz once it’s up there it never comes down. And if she decided to sue me over it… you see where this is going. The story I relayed on Tony’s site is exactly what the mother told me when I saw her all those years later at Flag. And she had no upset or remorse or grief over her daughter’s death. I think she felt relieved.

Is there a possibility that you can get the girl on this suicide list with the circumstances (getting SP declared by her own mother, an “OT”)??

I agree, Pluvo. The person who is supposed to give you unconditional love, your mother, labels you an evil SP and says you are the cause of all her problems, you, the daughter… what bigger betrayal is there? None. This mother also was allowed onto Solo Nots, (OT VII), the highest auditing in Scn, lower only to OT VIII. So apparently the church agreed with her assessment of calling her daughter an SP.

So disgusting, this mother. Her own child and a minor she has to take care for. It’s mental abuse. And taking no responsibility or having any remorse that she has driven her daughter into death.
Pls get this story out (as much as you can) that the general public have this example of the mind-set of the ‘humanitarians’ of the CoS.

Once, I found out, also by chance when I looked into my ethics-file, that the chief MAA has written years before that I would be an SP (covertly and all the while smiling in my face). This got me into a shock and had trouble to get my mental equilibrium back.That was bad enough, and I can just imagine what it does to the psyche of a person when this comes from the own mother.
