Yes, Debi Pearls suggests “whacking” a crawling baby with the thin rod or plumber’s tubing to keep a baby from climbing stairs……no mention of a “baby safety gate”….just “beat’ the crawling toddler to “teach it” NOT to climb the stairs.

As I noted one of Mike Pearl’s comments about “training a disobedient child was to “whip the boy so that he would be too afraid to disobey and would withdraw into a quiet shell”…..

I actually have a friend who is building a website for exactly that purpose… Folks from all over the country & the planet can post their encounters with the cops that show favoritism to the church of evil…

A wonderfully fun thing that I do every time I am in Clearwater, is to start recording with my camera phone whenever I encounter a scion… They get totally bent. I laugh maniacally and put on my “crazy eyes” while filming which causes them to cower & not say anything aggressive…

I think good thoughts of your children coming to their senses. I had a ten second exchange with your daughter, Emily, in March of 2015, a mile away from the CC. I was impressed with her personability. She was warm and kind and she seemed much more human than many other SO members I foolishly attempted to engage two years ago. It gives me hope that she will wake up.

I wish someone would study the question empirically, but based on the many anecdotal accounts which have accumulated over time, it sure seems to me that many folks who are just getting out of the corporate cherch go through a transitional period of Indie involvement (or passively maintain their $cn beliefs privately, like me) which typically leads in time to their full-throated disavowal of the cult, its practices and its founder.

I completely agree, further study concerning how the process of disillusionment with “the cult life” unfolds is needed. Not everyone is going to respond to become disaffected in exactly the same way, but my bet is there are some central themes which will show up over and over, such as the desire to protect another from the kind of harm that they were caused by $cn.

Oh yes. Also, one day that ‘security guard’ may leave, or be declared and see his previous actions in a new light.

Behaving with restraint shows people like this there may be forgiveness, and an option to make amends. This is more valuable, and better for all concerned, than the fleeting satisfaction of violence, which is never satisfied.

The question this raised in my mind is ‘which is the most effective tactic – to invalidate by stages (first pointing out to believers that Scientology is not following its own rules)of go straight to the contradictions built into Scientology itself.

Maybe the first makes it easier to reach Scientologists… but risks displacing them into an Indie no man’s land. The second is harder to pull off and, consequently less likely to work.

I don’t know, because we just don’t have enough reliable information about the process of. disillusionment.
