That’s a pithy way of summing it up!

That lack of ability to recognize and appropriately respond to huge and glaring contradictions in cult doctrine and practices is very clearly demonstrated in Mutty’s case – who was once the cult’s Super SP #1, but is now being featured on the cult’s websites like he’s back in the fold, perhaps even doing his a-e ethics program.

Like small children, $cilons in good standing with the cherch are not only expected to not question such huge discrepancies and logical inconsistencies, but the further expectation is that they won’t even notice them! But unlike them, $cilons are not even allowed to discuss or question the most glaring inconsistencies and direct contradictions that they witness for fear of punishment and group approbation.

They’ve been conditioned to ignore the huge disconnect between what they’re told and what they can see and experience for themselves by being subjected to hours and hours of reading and listening to Elron who, like the White Queen’s evil twin brother, could get $cilons to believe six completely contradictory things before breakfast 😉

Once you’ve sat through enough of Hubbard’s “believe everything, question nothing” mindfookery, you’re ready to ignore almost any discrepancy or self-contradictory action by the cult. You have, in essence, developed your very own cult personna, which will only grow more dissociated from your pre-cult personality the longer that you’re in and the more Kool-aid that you guzzle.

Even when the essential contradictory nature of the cult’s doctrine and practices is plain to see for everyone (e.g., in the difference between how the value of family/children is portrayed in Elron’s writing and how they’re treated in actual practice), $cilons are required to ignore it and refrain from discussing it with their fellow co-cultists. This prohibition on questioning and discussing $cn doctrine and the results of it implementation serve to isolate cultists even when they’re gathered together in their covens, because each and everyone of them has been thoroughly conditioned not to question the infallibility of the Holy Word of Elron or even to seek to clarify concepts by simply discussing The Tek with their fellow students while studying cult materials.

If Elron said that the Marcabians were mixing in “death rays” with the sun’s full-spectrum electro-magnetic emanations, then dutiful cultists would stay indoors during the day and take to wearing tin foil suits to protect themselves when they just had to venture out. In that way – given their willingness to believe anything they’re told and follow cult orders without questioning – cultists are already zombified and marching in lock step toward their very own cult apocalypse!

If Marty Rathbun’s escapades land him a series on Sump that will be a perfect end to his journey. Scientology won’t acknowledge their war with him or their employment of him but somehow true believers will accept his attacks on critics.

It’s an exemplar of double think. Scientology requires double think regarding it’s doctrine. It’s fitting that Marty Rathbun’s betrayal of Scientology be proof to Scientology cult members that his criticism of Scientology crimes is lies but his subsequent turn and attacks on critics will be accepted as truth and credible evidence.

It’s amusing to see someone be painted as both an unrepentant liar and a great source of information. Double think married to confirmation bias.
