You are glossing over a critical fact here. Let’s assume that the second and third paragraph are indeed true (although evidence is given for neither one of them). That does NOT demonstrate any causality whatsoever.

It’s like saying:

I believe that Jimi Hendrix perished in a car crash. (Paragraph 2)

As gov’t studies demonstrate, it is “remarkably easy” for a person to become the victim of a car crash. (Paragraph 3)

QED? WTF?

Also, let’s not forget this: Many of the people Marty counts as members of his imaginary ASC (or even “leaders”) are NOT “ex-cult-members who live in their emotions.” However, Marty IS undeniably an “ex-cult-member” who, per your dictum, apparently “lives in his emotions.” Which raises the question: Who is Marty’s “shepherd?”

This is a man who was once the ‘Inspector General’ of Scientology’s ‘tech’. He was also Miscaviges ‘fixer’ and could command people and resources. He evidently wants that kind of ‘status’ again – a position where people defer to him.

Instead, he has put himself in a position where he has to conform to a script to attack “Going Clear”. I suspect that there is a lot of footage on that cutting room floor of Marty protesting, dragging his feet and being very unhappy. What we see is a man eventually knuckling under.

Tony ridicules Marty for reviewing a four-year-old film. One reason he should do this is that “Going Clear” opened with powerful images of David Miscavige speaking at a Scientology ‘event’ that gave a deeply creepy impression, and provoked comparisons, from both critics and the general public, to a Nazi rally.

In Miscavige’s mind he and Scientology are an identity. The worst thing you can do is make him, personally, look bad. He will not forgive, not forget. I think that this is David Miscavige getting back at “Going Clear” after a four-year delay.

I don’t doubt he’s also enjoying tormenting Marty.

As for cancer… I’ll consider that when we see clear physical symptoms. The man is getting older, and (if what I say is correct) under considerable stress. He’s not going to look good, especially when he puts on his ‘martyr’ face.

He would not only nail the impersonation, but he would find some subtle nuances in Cruise’s character that even Tom Cruise isn’t aware are there.

Matt Damon, portraying Tom Cruise, would utterly baffle David Miscavige’s “useful idiot”.
