It never ceases to amaze me about how “dirty” some family members can be & just how low hey will go. I was POA for my Uncle, & had to deal with some distant relatives who never did anything for him or helped him in any way when he was literally at death’s door on 3 occasions over several years. All they “smelled” was money. I got him an Elder Care Lawyer who handled everything…they were “put in their place” toot sweet” & that was the end of their fiasco. Uncle passed away peacefully without worries, just like my mom.

You get back what you give out…..his day of reckoning will come, when someone does the same thing to him when he’s elderly Your conscience is clear (no pun intended) my friend. Your mom is truly Blessed to have you care for her.

There might be resources for you to have a home health aide come help you with your mom for a few days or a few weeks while she recovers & there might also be “respite care” for you to “get a break away from being a caregiver” when you feel a bit overwhelmed. So glad I could offer some assistance. The existing POA might be a “sticky wicket” , that’s why I am advising seeing if you can find a free consult Elder Care Lawyer first You DO have the legal right to air your concerns about “What IS In The Best Interest of Your Mother”…..despite an existing POA.
THINK it over about having a sit down with your brother & advising him that her care in a Nursing Home is NOT going to be “free”, that any money she has will be used for her care, & she may end up BROKE…he might think all this will be paid for but that ONLY happens when someone actually has no financial funds to pay out of pocket first.
I’ve seen people have to give even their last $2,000 cash from whatever money they had just to “get in” to a nursing home.
One of my other best friend’s mother in law “willed” some money to her kids while her husband was STILL alive….& that money was distributed to her kids. upon her death.
A year or two later, when the husband needed a nursing home placement……when it came to the “three year financial look back”….the “kids” (who were all adults) were ASKED where that money was…..of course, the adult children had all spent ithe money their deceased mother had left them, even though their father was till alive………HUGE problems, it would take so long to explain what happened, but it wasn’t good….

Hopefully your mom will have a long and healthy recovery & life, and your care & love will enable her to do so!

If what OTVIIIisGrrr8 and J. Swift have posted is really his work, it looks like he may be cranking out lots of inadequate inspection reports using boilerplate.

It would be very much the Scientology business approach, to produce high volumes of shoddy work.

Are you kidding? Is that really a picture he claimed shows a hairline crack?!

And if he’s just a home inspector keeping within the appropriate bounds of his expertise, why is he recommending specific repairs?!

That’s a major structural crack, with subsidence of the structure to the right of the picture indicated by the widening of the crack to the top, and the drop of the line off the brick joints off to the right. That needs to be looked at by a structural engineer, and then a foundation repair specialist, with brick repairs made by a qualified mason – using masonry cement, not spackle.

And let me just add that most of the people who’ve had their feelings hurt, and left or shied away at the Trump bashing here, are genuine assholes. Genuine. I don’t have a moment’s guilt about them leaving the blog because they can’t handle the truth.
