It’s so true about the exhaustion. And since our honeymoon was to Disney World, we were exhausted at the end of every day… but, darnit, we weren’t going to let that stop us from having a proper honeymoon! LOL.

But weren’t the pillows nice and fluffy at the Holiday Inn Express?!

I think I was so exhausted at the end of every day, marching around D.C. with a group of 8th graders, that I would have slept soundly on a floor.

I’m just glad I didn’t have to!

That’s why I always laugh at the notion of the ‘wedding night’
Every bride and groom I’ve ever known has been too exhausted/ drunk to do anything but sleep on their wedding nights

My husband and I were staying at a hotel near an airport the night after we got married because we were flying out to Orlando early the next morning. We got to the hotel close to 1:00am after driving for a couple of hours. As you can imagine, we were exhausted (wedding days are very busy!). We park and get all our luggage out, roll up to the front desk and hand the woman the printed out reservations. She looks at the paper and looked at me and said, “Nope.” I looked at her confused and she said, “You don’t have a reservation here.”

Needless to say, I was starting to panic slightly thinking maybe something had been booked wrong and I hadn’t noticed. So I look at her and say, “But I have the confirmation.” and point at the paper.

She looks at me and says, “This is Holiday Inn. You want Holiday Inn Express.”

I say, “Ok. Do you know where the Holiday Inn Express is?”

She looks at me and says, “Next door.”

LITERALLY. NEXT. DOOR. So we throw our luggage back into the car, drive out of the parking lot, into the next parking lot, find a space, drag out luggage out… again. Scientology doesn’t win litigation because, when sued, it hardly ever has an arguable case. It works hard to delay and harass – and then settles. Its object all along is not to lose.

If this case Is a double blind they may be faced with losing and seeing a precedent established that could cost them a lot of that ‘money on account’ which they have kept, (and spent)down the decades, despite not being entitled to it.

If that looks like happening I’m wondering if Miscavige is going to go into full ‘crusade’ mode, and try to openly defy the law. I hope so, because that will not end well.

You are assuming the Garcia’s and the Judge will consent to an out of court settlement now that they have the CoS otherwise perfectly trapped in a double bind

The judge is trained to systematically establish the facts of this allegation “beyond reasonable doubt”, so this judgement can be entered into the formal record.

This is exactly how you win an argument against David Miscavige and his bureaucracy.
