I don’t have a strong opinion and never faced that choice myself. When they go in the back there is enough bone material removed to machine into a graft. When I had the lumbar surgery done, front and back, they were already open down there so they took from the crest of the pelvis. I think you are fine either way and you might, if you don’t have a preference, ask the surgeon to make the call. Sounds like this is coming up soon. Let me know how it goes. First time is scary, but your surgery is not as big as some.
