Thank you, again, for clarifying things. My opinion is that Hubbard knew somewhere in his mind that his founding $cientology was, in essence, an illegal activity, but his ego wouldn’t let him concede anything, but to attack.

From the early days of even Dianetics, he got angry at franchise holders who didn’t knuckle under. (He would take away their franchise). He carried over that desire for control to $cientology, and, over the years, tightened up that control legally and administratively, as well as including more and more control in the actual everyday operation of $cientology and the TRs.

My opinion is that his reason for hiding was his own damn fault, because, from the beginning, he had created a con game, with his own rules that had little regard for laws or even concern for his followers. His usage of session folders against people who contradicted him or left $cientology is, IMO, a prime example. The establishment of the fair game is the result of his fear of loss of control over people. It is pure ego on his part.

Hubbard was an angry man. I maintain that his anger came from a feeling that he deserved more, even as a young man. He lied about his “adventures”, which were, in reality fairly mundane, but he had to make himself better than everyone else in his stories. In writing about his travels, he always exaggerated their importance.

His lies, which were used creatively in writing fiction, were used deceptively in how he dealt with people for the rest of his life.

yes, since he was under legal siege, remember he had to hide, otherwise he’d be served to be in other people’s court filings against his Scientology’s bad effects on their lives.

Marty’s 3rd book, which people can’t bring themselves to read, they just need to read through what offends them and see how deeply Hubbard was upset about not having a nornal life again, where he didn’t have to hide. That whole final era of top Scientology management while Hubbard was alive, those at the top were trying to change the legal climate and PR climate against LRH and against Scientology.

I think if you could, no one can, but if you could, read ALL of the critical books simultaneously and get the whole big picture, and listen again to all of the interviews with the top ex members, you’d see in LRH’s final years, he was off and on extremely embittered by the whole treatment he was getting by the govt cases and IRS and ex members suing him, etc, so that he had to respond to all that, and he had top people set up to respond and try to “save the day” legally and PR wise, for him to reap the imagined praise and acknowledgement he felt he was due, for all his Scientology wealth of knowledge and spiritual help he’d dedicated his life to give out.

His mental ups and downs, month by month, ought be laid out, and use all sources from ex members, from his writings, and all sources, showing clearly it’s all his fault.

He set the course for the movement, and others, Miscavige being the fireball messenger with Miscavige’s personal failings, has had Miscavige’s own stamp of ruthlessness (like Ron Snr tells) added to the final Hubbard mindset.

Bent Corydon’s book is good for the Mission Holder’s scene, and Jon Atack’s. Just read all the books, if you can bear.

LRH was in hiding, yes, in 1981 I think he was in Reno or Nevada someplace, that’s in Lois Reisdorf’s stories on Mike Rinder’s blog, it’s vital to read all the final Commodore’s Messengers’ writings, those who knew what went on all through those years, as they were upclose right there with or privvy to what LRH actually was doing day to day.

I’d say that every time that both LRH and DM have felt that they needed to get more control, they cracked down on both the sea org and members. Neither liked to share any power.

When did the Mission Holder’s Massacre happen? Was LRH in hiding at that time?

Basically yes, there’s been a slow more fundamentalist, which we agree means just extremist interpretations of Hubbard’s most dire rancorous policies, (as opposed to the totally lenient Way to Happiness Precept 20 whole different aim, which is a Hubbard writing, but Way to Happiness never became top management’s guiding rules though).

They could go all lenient and towards Way to Happiness for real, and drop and eliminate disconnection and other more dire hardnosed interpretations, and cut their members and cut their enemies a lot of slack, and focus on “ARC” and Way to Happiness, but the traffic from LRH to Miscavige and to top management was pretty hard nosed.

The 1982 “Int Strategy” was hardnosed “push production until you run into blocks and then remove the blocks off the lines” hardcore production pushing for years, the final Hubbard years that was the “Int Strat” (Watchdog Committee Executive Directive 86, nicknamed WDC ED 86, and WDC ED 86-3, or simply “86-3”).

The old Int Strat, 86-3, was NOT Way to Happiness and all ARC, LOL. And that was LRH behind the scenes pushing THAT.

So, no, you can’t blame even Miscavige for the harsh hardnosed production strategy of LRH’s final years. Further, LRH in LRH’s final long taped Ron’s Journal gave a major pat on the back to the steely hard young execs (Miscavige at the top of that heap of final execs). Hubbard gave them all the big pat on the back supportive commending in that 1983 final hour long Ron’s Journal tape.

So that’s another widely heard final Hubbard talk to all Scientology public that LRH gave his blessing to Miscavige and to Marc Yager and to the other top newbie leaders of the early 1980s.

So many fricking details when you read all of Hubbard’s final orders of even the 1980s.
